It's lavender time!
I'm new to bloging and forums, so here goes! I finally have several mature lavender plants and I have been harvesting and drying them, what I'd like to know is how do you get the buds off the plants to make lavender sachets and such. Also, does anyone have a recipe for lavender cake? I've printed out the instructions for making lavender wands and I'm going to try it today. Thanks to DSnell1055@aol.com. Wish me luck!!

good luck with the wands!
There are instructions here as well, if you got your directions somewhere else. To get the buds off the plant, simply strip the flowers off the dried stalks. They should come off easily.

Wands galore!
Thanks for the info! I was able to follow the directions from TNH site very well. I've now made 5 wands using various amounts of odd amounts, 7, 9, 11, 13. My personal favorite so far is 9. I don't know why, it just seems to work for me. I'm keeping cool with the A/C set to 75 (I normally keep my house about 68) due to our 100+++ degree heat today. My son is in Washington DC (he's on his 8th grade Travel Club Trip) and he said that it's been raining quite a bit there, even some flooding. He also said there's heat and the humidity (when not raining) is 100%. He's having a good time, he went to Harper's Ferry today, and Gettisburg also. I'm making a pasta salad and BBQ pork chops for dinner, gotta go!
