TADA: PODA: OK, that's enough! ![]() Quick hiWe're leaving for Memphis later this week, and I am wondering whether we will get out of here on time. So much to do, so little time, so many spats between siblings lately! Today: I think I'll save bill-paying for DH -- if I have time I'll sort the bills so we can pay before we go. I am bailing out of plans for this week right and left. Somehow this trip just never got on my radar until the last minute! OK, this hi is no longer quick. Hope everyone has a great week! Re: Quick hiso many spats between siblings lately!
That's no crap! My three have been at it for DAYS! Luckily, Drew isn't old enough for it yet. He just spats at me for putting him down or leaving the room for a sec! LOL! Morning you few fatbabiesMorning you few fatbabies left! LOL! Andrea, I would count all that! Heidi, you look busy, too! After we had ball practice in 101 heat, we ran into town (since we were almost right there) and I returned movies, got AC filters at True Value because Walmart only had 2 sizes, then to Walmart because Chance was BEGGING for a pool. LOL! So I got one of those little ones for the kiddos. Filled it up last night, really shows how unlevel a spot I choose. LOL! But it will get moved in a couple of days, I don't want to kill the grass where it sits. I'm really trying to do Flylady back in gear. I bought calander refill for my "control journal". Today is my "free day", I'm hoping I can do something fun for me today. Just don't know what. I have a ball game tonight. Wed. will be home, two games on Thursday, one Friday, one Sat. We start our 2 weeks of swim lessons next week. It's going to be a big hit on my diesel tank! LOL! hello!Today is an errand day. I am so tired of having to go to physical therapy, and my foot is a lot better, so I think I'll ask if I can quit after today. Otherwise it's pharmacy, credit union, and library. Good Morning! TADA morningGood Morning! TADA PODA Shaun-have a good safe trip! Jenny-DD starts swim lessons here next week too Andrea-does your book club meet over the summer? What are you all reading this time? I need a good book. See ya... Heidi ![]() HI All - Home eating lunchHI All - Home eating lunch and fixing to mop the floor I think. Also need to fold one load of laundry. Shaun, what are you doing in Memphis? Jenny, hope Chance enjoys his pool - most kids love those! Becky, hope you get your errands done. Heidi, we take one month off in the summer - August. Our recent books were The Mermaid Chair (which you read I think), Plain Truth, and our next one is A Prayer for Owen Meany which I read a few years back so won't be rereading. Right now I'm reading Whose Names Are Unknown about the Dust Bowl - very good. And I just checked out The Tenth Circle! Looking forward to that. The Pact was great, by the way, finished that about a month ago. Ok, this belongs on a different thread, sorry. I'm off - ![]() Hey ThereGood Afternoon! It's been a wild couple of days around here, as usual. Yesterday DS14 made a horrible mistake. He flippantly suggested to some other students, in front of a teacher, that another teacher had been drunk when she was chaperoning the dance Friday night. I guess he thought he was being funny, and I know for sure that he had absolutely no idea how serious it would be. This nasty rumor he started flew like wildfire around the school, to the principal, and on up to the superintendent. I got wind of what was going down through one of my spy sources at the school last night, and when I talked to him about it and he understood the full implications of his untruth for one of his favorite teachers, he was totally crushed, took to his bed, and cried himself to sleep. First thing this morning, DH (who was also a chaperone at the dance, and therefore a reliable, adult witness that the teacher most certainly had not been drunk) and DS went in to talk to the principal. DS learned a very hard, but very important lesson about the power of words, and the harm of gossip. Not Fun. Anyway.. PODA Becky, I meant to tell you that East Toward Dawn is the story of a woman who celebrated her 60th birthday with a 60 day trip around the world. I enjoyed it! And I hope you can be done with PT. I have The Pact in my pile Andrea, glad to hear it's good! I just finished Until You Know Kindness and next up is a Nora Roberts my SIL loved and passed on. I'm skeptical, we'll see... Shuan, have a great trip! Thanks for the reminder that I have some bills due today! Eek! Oh, and count my 3 in on the sibling spats. Geez. Is it a full moon or what? Jenny, I think I might order Sink Reflections, sounds like it's helpful for you. I could use a swift kick right in the bad attitude. (and no, I have no idea where my children get it...) Have a good day! Sick day today. I have aSick day today. I have a sore throat, aches and chills. Am now waiting for Dayquil to kick in so I can get thru the day with all the kiddos. At least I have no where to be today (the only day this week). Wish one of ya'll were here to help take care of me. LOL! But since your not, and no one else will be, I'll be taking day off from flying (though I'm dressed to the shoes in my sweats and the bed is made). Good Afternoon! TADA morningGood Afternoon! TADA PODA Jenny-I wish I could help out today too! Isn't there someone who owes you a favor for watching their kids???? Hope you are feeling better real soon. DS got his report card today, got straight B's,pretty darn good I think. He also got his summer reading homework which I know he will not be too thrilled with but...that's life. Better go....... Heidi Hi Flyfriends!! I am such a loser Flybaby!! Life has been keeping us pretty busy. We are settling in a bit but then things should get really fun next week when we start all the major construction on the house. We were supposed to start May 1st but are still waiting for varinaces/permits and all that junk to be approved. Please send me lots of ~~~patience~~~~ and ~~~~calm/easygoing children~~~~ vibes as I have no idea how I will keep these two on the schedule I have worked so hard on. I will have to just go with the flow somehow Andrea- your tada of "drove to work" just cracked me up Jenny, I hope you are feeling better. If I could I would take care of you- and give you some drugs since I am a pharmacist in my former life before Motherhood took over JO, Hope you are feeling better too. Hi to all the Flybabies/fatbabies OK for real I have a tada and poda. I am going to try to be here more but please forgive me if its not much. Luke WAS a great sleeper- 10pm to 5am from 2 weeks on but has decided to keep me on my toes this week. I hope he is just growing- maybe a 12 week growth spurt?????????? He is 13 lbs so he should be sleeping better. I need the help of the veteran Mommas- why is this kid suddenly waking up every 3 hours NOW??????? ooh I'm so TIREDI drank a lot of iced tea and pepped myself up to do more physical-type work. Heidi, congratulations on DS's report card! What kind of camp is he in? Thanks for starting the reading thread Andrea. Hope you feel better soon Jenny. Good to see you Jackie! Best of luck with the house. Okay, TADA: I still have to email a friend to figure something out, and wash dishes. ![]() Must sleep!Jenny, bummer! I have a friend in town who has strep. I thought the heat was supposed to burn off all those bugs and viruses for the summer. Andrea, my dad lives in Memphis. Lived in New Orleans until about a year before Katrina. I am so glad he moved! He visited his old house, had a giant old tree through it, with 1/2 the house totally open to the elements. I am excited to go to Memphis -- we have not yet seen much of it since he moved there. Went to Graceland a few times about 10 years ago but that doesn't count! My eyes are so dry from working that I have to go to bed. Aunt Flo is here giving me agonizing cramps, and I am doing laundry like a crazy person. Hope you are all staying cool! Thanks ya'll. I know if anyThanks ya'll. I know if any of you were close, you would take care of me. LOL! I'm hoping it would be Jackie, since she's got the drugs. haha!!! Heidi, you would think with all the favors I have done for people that there would be someone that could, huh!? LOL! Nope. They all have "real" jobs or are on vacation (that family on vacation, though I have watched her kids many times, I will not let my kids over there in that house). I'm still horribly achy and throat still hurts. But, I lost a pound since I don't feel like eating much! LOL! Oh, and Jackie, Drew was a good baby the first couple of weeks. Now he is STILL waking up every 2-3 hours! And he still won't sleep in his crib (though I do have him napping in their now. He just won't go down at night in there). I'm tired, too. Yay on the home remodel! How FUN!! Wish I could do that. I cancelled my remodel project. After waiting over a month for my French Doors to come in, I finally cancelled the whole damn order (from Lowe's). So that project is now on hold. No flying yesterday. Today I need to dump and move the kids wading pool so the grass there doesn't die. I need to run up to the post office and mail an ebay thing. And tonight we have 2 baseball games (which I really don't feel like doing, but what can you do? We HAVE to be there. I'm not only the coach, but am really short on players. 3 have moved away, one kid broke his arm, so I have exactly 9 that can play IF they all show up!). Good Morning! TADA morningGood Morning! TADA Jackie-good to hear from you. What kind of remodel are you all doing? Becky-I love to rearrange furniture to make things different a couple times a year. Gotta go,have a good day all! Heidi Hi Flyfriends! Popping in quick while one kiddo is napping and the other is sitting in his sisters old fish bouncy seat that doesn't even work and he thinks its the best thing ever! Thank goodness Luke is such an easygoing baby. I literally can lay him down ANYWHERE and he just looks around smiling and laughing. Im not sure if its becasue I am just much more relaxed or if his temperment isnt as strong willed as his spirited crazy sister. Everyone keeps saying I will get paid back in the teenage years for Lukes calmness now Heidi, we are extending our den and kitchen, and adding a full bath downstairs, and a new materbedrrom upstairs. Its going to be rough but worth it in the end. We looked into moving but really love our house and our neighborhood. There are 3 boys aged 6,4 and 2 two houses down, twin girls 6 weeks older than Alexa that are her buddies since birth, a 3 year old at the end of the block and my little mother's helper that is 10 next door. I hated the thought of moving so we decided to do the work instead. We should have started MAy 1st but of course it didnt work out so hopefully next week they can start moving the deck . I cant wait to start- insert sarcasm here Becky, good luck with the unpacking. I am looking forward to after the work is done and starting over. I love that new feeling! Jenny, Luke actually slept 10 to 4am woke up to nurse and went back down until 7am this morning. I think I just got lucky but I did swaddle him again and I tried to cluster feed. Im sure its not anything I did, when he wants to sleep I guess he will Quick Hi to everyone- gotta try to eat something while Alexa sleeps or it just isnt going to happen Errant and Truant! An errant and truant one is here. You young women run circles around me and I cannot keep up. I get exhausted reading about your busy days. I am trying to catch up, and I now have an unexplainable burst of energy. So I will try to check in to let you keep me on track. I had a new stovetop and oven installed last week. The 50-year-old stove was giving me electric shocks when I cooked. So now everything in the kitchen looks shabby. Today I began replacing shelf paper. I am planning the projects I am going to do while my family is out of town at the family reunion next month. My energy will probably run out before then! LoisD Wow, a blast from the past!Wow, a blast from the past! Good to "see" you here Lois! just poked in to say hi,gotta hit the shower and relax...... Heidi ![]() Great to see you Lois! WhatGreat to see you Lois! What type of oven did you get, I need a new one too. Jackie, your remodel sounds fantastic! I understand what you mean about not moving - we could use some more space, but really love our neighborhood. Well, I'm at work, so need to run. May pop in with a TADA later - Good to see you again,Good to see you again, Lois!! New appliances are always fun, even though they further date your kitchen. Mine is the same way. LOL! But I think I've talked my DH into at least letting me paint all my cabinets and replacing the counters soon. I haven't done much the past couple of days and the house shows it. I didn't have to cook anything yesterday, but the dishes are still piled up and trash in the kitchen too (because it seems no one knows where the trash can is!!! Uh, that big white thing?). Also a couple loads of laundry, since I didn't do any for a couple of days. Gotta wash uniforms, game tonight. Again. Baseball is almost over!! Hi Flyfriends!!So why didnt any of you veteran Mommas warn me of the danger of bringing two children, aged 2 and 12 weeks, by myself to get pictures taken as a surprise for Father's day would be about as much fun as getting all my teeth drilled without novacaine??????? We left without one picture even snapped. In fact the girl didn't even take out the camera yet. Alexa just melted. Luke got upset because she was upset. I got upset because they were upset. I have now learned I can not force Alexa to do anything she does not want to. Oh well, at least we tried. Now I am going to try to get her to take a nap and I will listen to the silence in my house. I hope you girls are having a better day than I am. ![]() Bummer Jackie - It might'veBummer Jackie - It might've worked on a different day, you never know. I'm just impressed you even tried! Hey Jenny, feeling any better? Andrea picturesOh, Jackie! I'm sorry it turned out that way! Did you go to a real professional or a place like Sears or Walmart. My kids have usually been really good about taking pictures. I've always gone to Sears and have felt rushed. The last time I went to a professional (who is a good friend of mine. We go to church together have have two children the same ages). Her studio is on the square in an old building with lots of charm. She has sofas and chairs for pictures, but she always lets the kids get used to the place before she starts the photos. And gives me all the time I need. If Drew gets cranky or hungry, I can just sit on the sofa and nurse him. Of course, she is more expensive than sears. I'm going to get Drew's next pics at Sears so I can get lots of different backgrounds. My friend generally just likes to do one background per session, she has them all around the studio. There is one that looks like the inside of a barn (we did that one last time), just plain white musin. A fireplace w/ Christmas tree, one that looks like an adobe house. She lets me keep all the proofs (it's her "friends and family" special! LOL! But I got about 60 or so pictures), and I can order whatever I want whenever I want, no pressure. My kids are a bit TOO comfortable there, though. Chance knows where the toys are kept and didn't want to leave them to have his picture done. LOL! Anyway, I'm rambling. I love getting pictures done. But I think the adjustment from one child to two is a pretty big one to make. And it's hard at that age. Try again, you'll get them done. I'm sorry, Jackie, but I hadI'm sorry, Jackie, but I had to laugh when I read your post. I so well remember trying to get photos of young children. My daughter was about one year old, and she screamed until we finally left. Trust me -- when they are about five or so, they'll be real hams. The stove is a Jenn-Air glass-top, and the oven is a self-cleaning GE. They are both bottom of the line as far as options. Some day I'll get new countertops -- and sometime soon we'll refinish the cabinets. My DH's opinion is "why bother to update the kitchen -- it will just need to be done again in another 40 years." When the family is out of town, I'm thinking I'll take down the old wallpaper and try that faux finish painting. And fresh paint on the living and dining room walls. Remember the time I painted the front door blue, stepped back, and realized it was purple? Two posts in one day! Thanks for the encouragement girls!! I'm pretty much over the picture fiasco. I was just disappointed I couldn't surprise DH but I guess it wasn't up to me today. I will try again soon and like Jenny said with a more comfortable setting. We have done JCPenney before and it went well but this was Picture People since I ahd a coupon but never again. It wasnt even their fault really but I will NEVER set foot in that place again. Bad Bad day Terrorsome Threes!Just wait til those hit. hehehe!! I've been flinging clothes from Drew's dresser of stuff he can't fit into anymore and filled up a box (well, he could probably still squeeze into some, but it was winter stuff). I've been making my grocery list and planning the next week. Will go to town for the heritage days stuff in town (we have cousins performing in it), ball game, and grocery store. Good Afternoon! TADA morningGood Afternoon! TADA PODA My DH buys himself whatever he wants or needs throughout the year so he is the hardest person to shop for. So I decided for Father's Day to clear out the garage, organize it up a bit and sweep and hose the floor. That is my gift to him even though that is usually his territory. I pretty much know where the stuff is supposed to go. DS got a speaking part in the play his camp is doing so he is pretty psyched about that, good self esteem boost. Well better gather up the kids and towels and get going. What are you all doing for Father's Day? Heidi Mmm, roasting marshmellowsMmm, roasting marshmellows sounds yummy! The ban includes open fires AND contained, so no campfires, no outdoor fire places, no pits, no trash barrels, nothing. And if you smoke, you can't throw your butts out either (not that that is a problem here, none of us smoke). Roast a few of those for me, Heidi! I'm sure they will be great! Hi Flyfriends! What a difference a day and some sleep can make. That and Dh is home today. We actually went and picked out the sink, tub, shower and toilet for the bathroom with both kids and they were perfect angels. Hopefully they arent storing up their badness for me tomorrow when dh is working Heidi, sounds like a good fun family day you have planned. What a great idea with the garage for Dh! Mine bought himself a new guitar a few months ago and decided to tell me that was his Father's Day gift. That and I did take my own pic of Lex and Luke that I am going to print and frame. Jenny, I am in for it with Alexa when she turns 3. I cant even imagine when Luke is mobile and I have both of them. I should appreciate these days of Luke laying where I put him and not talking back yet! Quick Hi to everyone- both kids actually down for a nap at the same time. hello everyone!I'm going to be out of town for a while, because as I said on my other thread my grandmother just died. So I'm taking off to go to the funeral and then I'll be visiting my cousin for a few days. I'll be back next week. Hi Flyfriends!!Just popping in quick to say Im sorry about your grandmother Becky. You are in my prayers. Love Jackie Good Afternoon! HappyGood Afternoon! Happy Father's Day to all lurking dads, and all our DH's who are dads.... TADA PODA Tomorrow DD starts swim lessons again at the local pool. DS gets taken to camp and then swimming right after I drop him off, works out well that way.
