Hello,

I am a casting associate for Fox’s hit show “Trading Spouses.” I was checking out your website and was hoping you could help me out in my search. We are looking for women who are passionate about their convictions and their families to participate in the show which highlights the wealth of cultures and personalities from households across ther country. The show requires that each family consist of at least one child between 6-18 years of age and have two parents within the home. At the end of the 7 day shoot, each family receives $50,000. If you are what we are looking for, or know anything family that is, please contact me. If you have any questions regarding the show, check out the website and www.fox.com and click on the “Trading Spouses” icon.

Our deadline is approaching FAST and I would love for families to have this amazing opportunity. Thanks so much and I can’t wait to hear from you!

R U NUTS!?!

Submitted by Jilsyt on Sat, 06/03/2006 - 2:59pm.

I don't know if I'm speaking for everyone, so I'll just speak for myself. Marriage is a sacred, special thing--that's why I am dedicated to it and our convictions, and why I am willing to be a homemaker!! To trade places with someone (although it may be an "interesting" experience) would be against all I've stood for. The world has enough "reality" TV, and needs to tune into real reality and live their own lives.

There, off my soap box, but had to say it. The show drove me nuts when I saw the previews, and then to see something about it here threw me off my rocker!!

I'm really starting to hate

I'm really starting to hate reality shows. I can watch American Idol, and I LOVE to watch COPS. But everything else is just a contest to see who can shock the most and I think the editors just take bits and pieces of interesting parts and take it all out of context.

Reality shows aren't showing reality at all.

And me!

I'm with you both, Jill and Jenny!

...while I'm "strong willed" and "passionate about my convictions," I am just as strongly convicted that each family should be able to choose their own path!

Our current situation is certainly challenging, but I wouldn't "trade" my spouse/family for ANYTHING...and absolutely not for $$$.

Nope. Not gonna happen. Not me. Not ever!

Blessings,
Lenora

not the best forum for this!

I think there are a few reality tv haters on this site, and to mess with marriage and friendship really isn't going to please most of us. I think that any television programme that degrades people or encourages them to behave immorally should be outlawed, and the producers chased with a really big shotgun (Jenny could maybe give me details on that!).

American Idol is about my limit too, and I watch only when they are down to the last handful o I get to watch some really good acts, rather than cringing at people making fools of themselves. Unfortunately there are too many similar programmes now and the whole thing is very jaded.

Kerri.

Trading Spouses--awkward at best, degrading at worst

Submitted by Anhata on Mon, 06/05/2006 - 10:28pm.

I can think of few things less pleasant than spouse swapping for money. Comes in a close second to poking myself in the eye with a sharp stick.

And, let me add, Mr Eskin, that FOX has earned my everlasting scorn for cancelling the BEST drama ever, Firefly. Just know, we browncoats will never forget FOX's shortsighted stupidity.

My mother and I were both commiserating just this evening that this stuff they put on the air but they cancel the really good shows, like Firefly. What a messed up pop culture we have. Degrading, sensationalist, amoral, and devoid of the values that makes societies healthy and whole.

I really want to say something rude to FOX here, but it would be inconsistent with the sentiments I expressed in the previous sentence. Suffice it to say that nothing will ever prevail upon me to watch anything on FOX ever again.

Whew!!

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this sentiment...after talking to family and friends locally I thought I was a lone duck in a pond. So, question is, who is going to take this list of comments and email to the guy above? I'll do it if no one else wants to, but I think they should know we don't like the idea. (One GRRR comment I got about it from a friend, "It's not wrong as long as the traded spouses don't sleep together.") Made me cringe, where are people's heads these days?
