![]() Still FlappingI'm still around and still (mostly) flying. I've just been too busy to post. And this week will be even worse. I got suckered into co-coaching the high school track team, which is a brand-new program. We have two meets this week. DS had his last two home baseball games this week. The marathon is Sunday. I'm running half of it, and DS14 is running a 6.5 mile leg. MIL is having a lawn sale this weekend, and I'm putting a bunch of stuff in it, so I have to work it Saturday. Finishing up DD's homeschooling within the next two weeks, and get all my paperwork set to send in. We had 12 days straight of rain, and quite a lot of flooding, so there is some cleanup from that to do, plus the gardens need a super weeding. DD is in the last weeks of ballet, with the BIG recital on June 10th, so there are extra rehearsals this week and next. Phew. I can't wait until June 16th, the last day of school. Then my life settles down. Have a great week flyfriends! Thanks Jo!Today is a big errand-and-school day. Also I have to clean up some cereal DH spilled. On my stuff. And didn't tell me. Wish I had an angry smiley! Jo, I wish we could have hadJo, I wish we could have had some of that rain for you! Good luck with the track meets. Becky, he didn't even TELL you! I'd be beyond pissed!!! This week isn't going to be as busy as last, I hope. But still pretty busy. I have MAJOR decluttering I want to get done, probably more of a summer project than this week. I just have a hard time letting go of stuff. LOL! But hopefully I'll have something to TADA later. I'm so glad we are out of school Thursday! And Wed. and Thurs are half days! yay!!! School begins August 18th, and we will be on 4-day week. How cool is that!! Hi Flyfriends!I miss you girls!!!!!!!!!! I am barely flying but it really is the only way I get anything done- in 15 minute segments!! As long as we have clean laundry, a clean sink and we all get dressed everyday I consider that a great day Jenny- glad everything has settled down. You amaze me with all your kids and all you get done!! Becky- congrats on your move! Jo- good luck with the marathon. I have always wanted to run one. I did get out the other am for a quick run- my first since Luke was born. It felt great! I need to make it priority- the only time I find is at 6am and then I cant get up since I miss my sleep!!! Ok heres a quick poda and tada: Some quick pics I hope it works!! I found a last burst of energy to download some pics!! Gotta go to bed now- ![]() Hello FlybabiesI have been so wrapped up in the saga of Lynn's health and my own busyness that I have not posted on much else. Thanks for getting us going again, Jo. My big project for this week: get the office fit to sleep in. We are having a houseguest for Memorial Day weekend (plus), so DH and I are sleeping in my office (we have a day bed with a trundle) and putting his friend in our room. That way I have 24/7 access to my office and computer, since I have piles of work to do. DH's friend just lost his mom to cancer and he is looking to relax and have a change of scene (he is, despite his intentions, still single and so doesn't have that default family support). Otherwise I would have said he%% no I'm too busy, but I figure it's the least we can do under the circumstances. Off to check out some photos! Good Night! Insomnia attackGood Night! Insomnia attack yet again so here I sit... TADA Jenny-a 4 day week is cool. When holidays fall on Mondays you all will have 4 day weekends!! Will school start earlier or end later or both? Jackie-glad you posted, been thinking of you. My first was the more challenging of my 2 as well. I will check out the pix tonight, thanks for sharing. Shaun-good for you guys for being supportive during what must be such a rough time for DH friend. How's homeschooling going? Better try to catch some zzzzzzz Heidi 4 day weekWe are SO excited about the 4 day week. Yes, 4 day weekends if a holiday falls on a Monday. But on the week of the holiday, we will go to school that Friday (making the weekend following the holiday a 2 day weekend like normal people. LOL!). Right now, school starts at 8:12 and ends at 3:05. Next year school will start at 8:00 and go til 3:50. So it's not much of a sacrifice. Our school year and holidays will pretty much stay the same, too. We start August 18th (which is a Friday, but it's only for registration). Then the next week we have Thursday AND Friday off (for county fair. We haven't been able to take off fair days before, but with the 4 day week, we are able to do some more flexible things. This will REALLY help a bunch of the kids, since a majority of the kids at our school do something for the fair). School will still end by the end of May (May 24th to be exact). We are also working on getting all ball games to be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. That way kids aren't crunched for homework time. Hopefully the other schools will also schedule their games the same way. Away games are a killer when the kids are coming back at midnight on a school night. This will really help. Of course, this is something the school board and administration wants, but not the coaches. Coaches liked having weekends off, that is why they were scheduling the games during the week. But I guess if they want to keep their jobs, they will conform to some new rules, right? Teachers will have one inservice day a month on a usual day off. But I think they are glad for the extra days "kidless". Regular postWell, yesterday I got three loads of laundry done and folded and put away, finished my senior gifts (just a few days after graduation. LOL!). And have been working on teacher gifts (I'll have pictures of those. Something I want to sell, too). Once I picked the kids up from school, it was run and go. Feed the baby, go to ball game, back home, fix dinner, showers and baths, girls to bed, DH came home, tooth fairy came, fed baby again, put him in his CRIB, where he stayed for a whole hour! LOL! Well, still working on it. Today, So much housework to do! We have Kindergarten graduation, DD6 is an escort and has to go. Then back home for American Idol!! I'm disappointed my favorites are gone, so I guess I'm cheering for Katherine. Taylor, um, is just too wierd. ![]() Teacher giftsOne more reason to love homeschooling -- I wonder what I'll buy myself! Jenny, your 4-day week sounds like an awesome idea. I hope it goes well and catches on for other areas. I bet you'll love it. (Where I live, the home of the MN State Fair, school can never start before labor day, which is the day the fair ends. Other districts in the state have moved earlier, but not us!) We may stay up late Wed. for American Idol. I don't follow it, but my mom is hugely into it, and she's trying to get DD7 into it, so I might let her stay up for the finale. Katherine has always been DD's favorite. My mom likes Taylor -- but then, my mom likes weird things. Hey, I'm her daughter! Better put DD3 to bed -- and DD7 wants to use the computer for Chinese (first). I made all the teacherI made all the teacher gifts. I'm only giving to the main teacher, so just two gifts. I bought denim book bags at Hobby Lobby for $2 each and I used my new sewing machine to embroider a beach scene (sand, umbrella, and toys) and their names on them. Easy. Cheap. And hopefully will be much appreciated and used. For the grads, I bought bath towels at Walmart and embroidered their name on it. Cheap. Easy. And hopefully appreciated and used. As for the catching on for 4-day week. Except for town, we are the only school in our county that didn't do it before. Now there will only be one school (besides towns of P-ville and C-ville) in our county and the next 3 that don't do it. American Idol is on pretty early I thought. I can watch it at 6 or at 7 (I get stations from two different states that are in different time zones). Tomorrow is the decision episode. Carrie Underwood will be on it (YAY! We love her!). hi everyone!I'm waiting for the plumber. We have no hot water to the kitchen sink. Meanwhile I guess I might do some homework and some unpacking! Good Morning! TADA morningGood Morning! TADA PODA One week of school left here....TGIS(THank God It's Summer) Hope you all are having a good day Heidi did I forget to post yesterday?Yes, looks like I did. Oh well. PODA: -Tie up loose ends at the old place. That's ALL I can handle, for sure! SCHOOLS OUT!!Yay!! We got out at noon today! My girls did VERY well at the Awards Assembly (getting total about a dozen, including 1 perfect attendence, 2 A honor rolls for the year, and 2 character counts). I'm very proud! No TADA, just that. LOL! ![]() Congrats to your girls!Hope you all have a great summer break. I've been cleaning like a madwoman to get ready for our guest. Of course, the room we are sleeping in (we're giving him our room so I can keep him out of my office/guest room) is a total disaster with laundry baskets and boxes everywhere! That'll be Friday's PODA. Better get some sleep while I can! SO tired now!The loose ends at the old place were more than I'd thought! But I got about two-thirds of it done. And I did do some laundry. I have a PODA written somewhere on a scattered piece of paper and can't remember it offhand. I'll post a TADA of whatever actually DOES get done! Good Afternoon! What are youGood Afternoon! What are you all doing for the long weekend? We are home today but going to SIL's Sunday for a cookout. Monday we may take the kids to see a movie. There is a parade in our village but is so crowded we may skip that. TADA PODA DS spent the night at a friend's house and is swimming there now. DD and I are just chilling out at home. Don't feel like doing anything, being lazy today. DH is finishing up some details on the other house. If you are driving this weekend,be safe. Have a good one Heidi packing/ unpacking! We aren't doing much else. Watching TV I guess! I've had a headache most of today, but right now I'm thinking I need to start on some actual work. So, PODA -count boxes (I want to know how much we really have to do!) ![]() HI Everyone - Still readingHI Everyone - Still reading along here! We had a fantastic time at Disney - the kids loved it and so did we! Already planning our next trip (well, DD and I are anyway). This weekend I am just planning to do some catch up housekeeping and gardening also. It's been crazy with the trip, work etc. Oh and guess what - school is not out here! We have 4 full weeks left! Hope everyone has a nice weekend. ![]() My GoodnessWhat a Week! I shouldn't even be posting on this thread because I did not fly last week. At all. It just got so out of hand, and you should see my house! (Believe me, I only say that because I know you can't see my house!) So, in hopes of getting back on that wagon, here is the PODA clean out the van (all the marathon stuff is still in it) pick up my left over lawn sale stuff from MIL groceries! order checks! gas up the van start the ascent of Mt. Laundry dishes shine the sink There, that's a start. Peace, why don't we keep this thread going for one more week?Since they are shorter now, that should still be manageable, right? With yesterday having been a holiday and all. PODA: Pick up all the hazardous waste from our old apartment to bring to a collection facility, turn in our keys, and go. I'm still around, just notI'm still around, just not posting much. I had a spurt of energy Sunday and washed the curtains, windows, and each slat of my blinds in the m. bedroom and bath. And let me tell ya, they were BAAAAD. Thanks to all the dust storms this year. I also got all my bedding washed that day, too. Andrea, glad your Disney trip went well! I'm so jealous! I thought we were going to go this year, but it's been put on hold a few years. Jeff feels the boys are too little, and mom feels Gram is too old for the trip. So, it will just be to GA, whenever that will be. No rain in weeks. DH is having a hard time with the plowing. Drew is still demanding to be held most of the time. Like now. He wants to type. Better go. ![]() It's a Start!OK, it looks better, and I feel better. TADA PODA Have a good one flyfriends! Good Evening! Been busy hereGood Evening! Been busy here at home the last few days getting ready for a ladies wine party in my backyard. It will be tomorrow evening under the trees with candles and flowers and variuos wines, appetizers, and good friends.....no kids or husbands!!! My TADAs revolved around prepping:cleaning, mowing, food shopping, etc. Got torrential rain here this afternoon complete with mallards swimming in my front yard! The back should be decent for tomorrow though. Have a pleasant night guys Heidi sounds like LOTS of fun HeidiMaybe I'll have a wine party too! Jenny, we took down all the blinds in our apartment and put up curtains. Just couldn't deal with cleaning the blinds. We don't have dust storms, but we get a lot of soot because we are very near the Port of Long Beach. Glad you made some headway Jo. I did some errands today and went to physical therapy. I dropped the summer school class I'm taking because I decided I didn't need it (my German came back very quickly when I started giving it a little effort again), so I don't have any more school until July. Tomorrow's PODA: a big unpacking marathon! BlindsI have 2 windows without blinds and I can't wait to put some up in there! They really make a difference cooling off some of the rooms, and I don't mind cleaning them. I have curtains on all windows, too. I spent most of yesterday in town. Washed my truck in hopes it would rain. It did. But not at our house. In town. Had to pick up some FREE tickets to a rodeo (4 of them, box seats, worth $14 each! Cool!). Bought a clothes line. Found hydrangeas. Splurged a little and bought me the new Harry Potter video game (LOL!). Saw one of DD9's friends in Walmart, ended up bringing her home with us to spend the night. I have ball game and pictures tonight. I'll be so glad when this is all over. How was the ball game Jenny?TADA from yesterday: unpacked stuff, got groceries, and got a new-to-us fridge. PODA: more unpacking, install air conditioner (DH will help with that), and do some laundry. Oh, and I have to wash some dishes and take out trash. Sigh. Post new comment |
