Ever felt like a Dagwood sandwich?

I got the Flybabies book at the library. It was an inviting read. I found it accessible and very easy to identify with.

I titled this entry with" Have you ever felt like a Dagwood sandwich" for several reasons.

First I am a professional cook. Food analogies come very easily to me. Second I do feel like Dagwood
sometimes. I just want to create something and I just get wrapped up the the creative options so I end up with a super decker style sandwich choice.

Elegance is really hard to achieve in cooking and plate presentation.

I'm really suffering with how do you start to set up a system to live and clean. I want to change my home style.

It is a tragedy how working too many hours robs you of your own time to create a home. I gave up a status position to find more time with my spouse, friends and family.

Here's hoping I can persevere with the cleaning routines and bake more for pleasure. I've enjoyed reading everyone else's blogs. Here's my first. Ok Chaos

This is working for us so far

Hi, I just started staying at home and was overwhelmed at where to start and how to stay clean. I think we were all OK with living like that too because we couldn't see how to make a big enough impact to invoke change in ourselves. Then I won 2 hours of housekeeping at an auction. I told them to just do what it took to straighten up, but focus on floors, bathrooms, and dusting, the 3 things I hate most. Well, the did all that and more, our bedroom was picked up, all the shoes in the closet were put away, the pillows on the couch were "arranged" etc. Like a hotel. DH was so impressed, he wants it done every couple of weeks, but that's just not in the budget. But now we have a clean slate (that cost us about $80) and it has been fairly easy to maintain, it's just hard reminding myself "follow-through". Don't just put the dish in the sink, put it in the dishwasher. Don't just throw your shoes in the closet, put them on the shoe rack you paid money for!
That's what worked for me, I'm a Dagwood kind of gal myself! This took away so many options and made my path clear.
