Homeschool Schedules

Is there a schedule you've found that works for you?
I am a morning person, so I thought we'd do some of our official "schooling" (e.g., piano, math, "literature") first thing and then have a break. Maybe it's the spring weather, but piano goes well and then DD is in outer space. Not every day, but some days.
Do you find it helpful to have a regular schedule, or do you move things around depending on what else you have going that day? (Today, for example, we have to pick up DD2 at preschool, stop at the library for my work, and run out for lunch, and then the nanny comes around 3 so I can go to an appt., then DD and I have something at church for an hour tonight.)
I'm thinking of experimenting but I'm not sure how!

No Schedule
We move things around. I also go over with DD what needs to be done each day, and she selects the order in which she does it. I find she's much more cooperative that way.
Our schedule is just not stable enough to have a fixed schedule. Carschooling is also a fairly frequent happening in our world.
