The hottest color for 2006 is ORANGE!

What is your reaction to using this color in your home? Have you jumped on this trend?

If so, what have you done that looks great and what has been a disaster?

YUCK!! Well, I guess it

YUCK!!

Well, I guess it means pretty soon I won't need to remodel my kitchen. Everything comes back around, then brown and dull yellow should come back soon, too. Bleh! I HATE my kitchen. It's the original from when this house was built in the early 60's.

Not my favorite

I don't redecorate to follow "trends," but would REALLY not do orange. I don't wear orange in fashion, either...except in small bits in a print. I don't even love orange blooms in the yard...although I did see a coral/orange azalea down south that I thought was rather pretty.

Happily, I'm beyond being concerned about having whatever is "hot" according to marketers. It's just not (ever) a priority.

Orange

You have to define what you mean by "orange." It doesn't have to mean Safety or even Sunkist Orange. Smiling

In my kitchen, I have a lot of apricot, which technically is red and yellow mixed together and then "tinted" down with white--friends, it's light orange by any definition! And it's pretty! I like it. Lots of soft white and light yellow with apricot and brilliant red accents. Sounds weird but it's actually quite pretty. And I never would have considered it if we hadn't inherited an orange countertop and backsplash that's so old it's faded to apricot. We'll be doing our floor this summer in industrial tile, probably in a checkerboard of light yellow and apricot.

It belonged to my grandmother in the 60s. I guess it's back in style then, eh? I'm sitting in it right now.

We painted

We painted our master bedroom a pretty peach color (I guess that is a light orange) a couple years ago, and we painted the woodwork white. We don't pay much attention to trends, just try to put nice colors together that we like! It is a pretty combination.Smiling

Orange, huh?

Didn't even realize there was a trend going on. When I go to the home stores, there seems to be so many options that I figured that we'd finally graduated to decorating our home to fit our tastes & needs. As for orange, I think it's a fun color--might use it in the kids' playroom later as an accent. Right now the walls are turquoise (yup, you read it right) and I've painted a tree and a (hey...orange!) sun on the wall. Looks fun.
