Cheap Bulk Foods

dairygal4's picture

Does anyone know of a website or cataloge that sells bulk flours, sugars... basically dry ingredents..CHEAP?? I am trying to find a way to cut down on grocery bills. I have already started making bagels & breads at home as well as raising my own beef & pork. However the basic dry ingredents I still need to buy from the store and there expensive. So if anyone knows of a good place that sell cheap bulk foods let me know. Thank you

Bulk Foods in the Midwest

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can find bulk foods in Wisconsin? My only choice is Sam's Club, and I won't shop there.

Cheaper Grain Finds

Hi,

If you know someone who is of the LDS faith you could ask them to order grain and other bulk foods for you. I buy 25lb bags of White Winter Wheat for $5.00 per bag. I also grind my own grain for bread ect.

Jylsyt - Don't you just love this grain mill!? I have one. I grind my popcorn for cornbread and pinto beans for thickening in soups and chili. Worth every single penny I paid for it. Big grin

Where to obtain bulk foods cheap

For those of you looking for grains etc in bulk at affordable prices, you should be able to inquire at any Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) and they will get you in touch with the nearest Bishops Storehouse in their area. You can buy the items you want in bulk and take them home and "can" them or you can package them right there in the storehouse. They have a lengthy list of items they carry for food storage and a price list that they can E-mail or mail to you. Sometimes they are even able to drop the items off at a nearby church in your area when their drivers are delivering local welfare orders for their members. This is a possibility if you pay for the items in advance. They are a wealth of information and assistance. The members of the Church will be glad to assist you in any way they can. Have a great day!

bulk foods in Price County Wisconsin

There used to be a food club of name that a large group of people would get together once a month in some school gym, they would order what amount they wanted and shared the sizes or order the whole amount themselve. Next, the truck would arrive about 1/2 weeks later. Volunteers from the group with get together and repack into the amounts ordered by the members. Does anyone have any knowledge of this still available?

Grains

We have found that if we go directly to a mill we can get grains (even organic) quite cheaply. It took some looking, but I found wheat for $7/50 lbs., and a grain mill only put me back $250 on www.pleasanthillgrain.com. They had cheaper ones, but I'd heard good things about the NutriMill.

Bulk Wheat

There's a coop in Tennessee that will help people get shipments of bulk wheat in 50 lb bags from Wheat Montana without the hassle of managing a coop themselves. You can look into it at http://bulknaturalfoods.com.
