Wearing a sort of half-a-wetsuit during childbirth could save thousands of women's lives, especially in third world countries:

A re-usable, lightweight suit could save the lives of women at risk of dying during childbirth, a study says.

The garment forces blood from the legs to the vital organs if a woman haemorrhages, the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology reported.

The University of California study of 364 women found the garments, which resemble the bottom half of a wetsuit, cut death and illnesses by two thirds.

Haemorrhaging causes a third of the 500,000 deaths a year during birth.

This is fantastic news for women in third world countries who usually give birth at home far from hospitals. The suit can literally keep them alive for up to two days until they can get to a hospital. Is there nothing Velcro can't do? Smiling

It would be good for Jehovah's Witnesses as well, in all sorts of contexts, since they cannot receive blood transfusions.
