Where can I buy this in the US?

I am looking for a collapsible drying rack that can hold 1-2 full loads of clothes. It can be easily moved inside at night and folds flat when not in use (I am not talking about those wooden racks that can only hold a sweater). It doesn't take up very much room, either. My mother brought one with her when she visited me in the US but I could use another one for the winter time when the drying times are longer. In the summer time, the clothes will dry outside in about an hour or two so I don't have to use the dryer at all.

You can see a picture of the rack right here:

I have tried searching the Internet but couldn't find anything. I am not sure what it is called in the US and none of my neighbors have ever seen anything like it before.

Thanks Smiling

I'd try those closet organizer type stores

What you'll mostly find in the US are a)the wooden accordion style ones--they come in several sizes, or b)the umbrella clothes line contraption that stays outside. May advice on the umbrella one, not that anyone asked, is: don't ever, ever take it down for winter then try to put it back up again in spring. The lines will tangle brutally. Just collapse it, leave it up, and put a tarp over it for winter.

Do you mind buying over the internet, or do you need a physical store? There's one like you mentioned at this store in California but if you don't happen to live in Santa Rosa, you'd have to shop from either their catalog (which they will mail to you) or their online store.

Good luck!

Lehmans.com has these. Real Goods used to, but I don't know if they still carry them since being bought by Gaiam.

I got one at Target

It's flimsy though. You might want to get it from one of the other companies if you want a good one.

Thanks for the links!

The rack at Stacks and Stacks comes closest to what I am looking for though it looks like it won't hold as many clothes as my German one.

I don't like permanent outside lines. I can't imagine how they can work out... What do you when it rains? I have my drying rack mainly for convenience. It may sound odd to some but thanks to my portable rack, I get to decide when I want to fold clothes rather than being told by Mr. Dryer that I better drop everything and come folding or else the clothes will get wrinkled up. The rack has the height of an ironing board so loading it up is easy. Since the "wings" fold up, I can carry a full rack outside/inside without much trouble. It accommodates over 54 feet of drying line while taking up maybe 8 or 9 sf of space. It's awesome! In the winter time, it even doubles as a humidifier Smiling I just don't get why it's not being imported into the US.
