Driving home from preschool today I noticed an unusual sign in the window of "Evenstar Books and Gifts":

Get Your Pagan Bling Here!

Gotta love it. I'm definitely going to start calling my collection of cross jewelry (bought for me by people who like the way it looks but feel weird wearing it themselves) "Catholic Bling."

I always called them tchotchkes (pron tCHOTCH-kees), a Yiddish word basically meaning knicknacks. When I tried to be a Christian I went Catholic, because, I said at the time, they had the best tchotchkes (not the only reason). Smiling Which is totally true, they do--rosaries, holy cards--I LOVE HOLY CARDS--novena candles, saint statues. It's the most Pagan of the Christian demoninations, and Pagans are all about the tchotchkes.

Which reminds me, I need to make an altarcloth today for a household spirit. I promised her one a while ago and haven't come through, and she's giving me financial grief.
