I've been sluggish for a few days now, about getting things done. Not sure why since I haven't been sick, but oh well. Just been tired. It's already 12:15 and I've barely done anything.
Anyhow, here's my PODA:
-straighten up the bedroom
-change sheets
-laundry
-change litter box
-empty trash
-give old magazines to the vet next door
-go through and file some old papers
-do some sewing for tomorrow's sewing class
-clear out tote bag
-finally put away the rest of the Christmas stuff! At least I put away the Chanukah stuff though
-and my reward for this: go to the carnival next door! on the other side of my building from the vet. It's this weekend only.
Going home to supper, as well as more decluttering (which I started over the weekend), and a ride on my new exercise bike.
Congrats on finishing that PhD ap, Beckster. Looking forward to hearing of your acceptance!
I had such a fantastic semester break. Lots of time in Pseudo-Mom mode. I don't feel as confined and oppressed here at the office as I used to, and I love my students. BUT--I sure would love to move back into your world again.
I'm feeling sorry for myself, because there is an incredibly wonderful and good-looking soccer/kindergarten dad I've become acquainted with. Bad news? He's got a girlfriend. Good news? Feeling sorry for myself indicates that I actually care about stuff again. Does that make sense? I think so.
Later.

My mom's been depressed so we had her here today and cheered her up. I think she left feeling better.
Becky how fun,a carnival. I love eating carnival food and riding the big slide and bumper cars!
OK, that's supposed to sound like Krusty the Klown.
Full day as usual -- met with friend to discuss upcoming MOMS meeting, where we are presenting on school choices; hair cuts for both kids; lots of taking care of the dog (inside, outside, inside, outside, inside, outside); work on parish mission statement; talk with other mission statement-writer about upcoming meeting; talking with fellow co-chair about several upcoming meetings; dinner. No wonder my house is a mess!
Gotta put the kids to bed -- negotiated with DH for *seven* minutes of free time between dinner and kids' bed time. Take that, Total 180!
Seven minutes?!You deserve way more than that and you shouldn't have to negotiate for it!
HI Heidi - glad you could see your Mom. Ir is a tough time of year for people who suffer from depression.
Julie, bummer about the soccer Dad. Just out of curiosity, have you ever tried an online dating service?! I don't mean to be nosy.
HI Becky - thanks for the new thread. I have been sluggish too.
Well, up early enjoying the few minutes of quiet time. I always think I should use this time to exercise, but never. do. Try to squeeze it in after work.

Heidi, O Brother is an AWESOME movie! We are always finding things we missed in it that are just too funny, and the soundtrack is really great, too! Haven't seen Million Dollar Baby yet.
Bills are done (gotta find .34 to put in the mailbox for those extra 2 cents on postage). Laundry is ALL done (well, as of yesterday). Need to shampoo some carpets this month, not sure if I will do that today. And make a broccoli casserole for yet another funeral today (people are dying like flies around here!!).
Just stopped in to say hi, new job and school is keeping me busy, and I am not used to getting up so dang early! Anyways, DH is flying a lot for me nowadays for sure!!!
I haven't watched the movies yet,I get them for a week so I may watch one tonight. Going out with the girls tomorrow night for wings and beer, should be fun. We are trying to do this every month or so.
Today's playdate went well,DD is already asking when her friend can come back again. They are in the same preschool class.
I may take Ds out on a date this weekend to see Narnia. Anyone see it yet? I remember the books from my childhood.
Well, time to put DD to bed,see you all in the morning
my boys 7 & 5 loved it. We listened to the books on tape last summer when we were going back and forth to Austin. The battles can be intense but both the boys faired well in the understanding of them.
LOVED the movie! It's gorgeous! Really well done. We saw it on my birthday. Both DDs and I had read the books, but DH had not. It gets 8 thumbs-up from our household!
Blessings,
Lenora

Who on earth would want to steal someones sheets!!?? Sheesh! Hopefully it was a mistake and will be returned soon, Becky.
Andrea, DH is about the same! LOL! I'm just trying to ignore him. He's lifting his spirits now playing PS2. StarWars Battlefront. LOL! Nothing like killing JarJar Binks and Wookies.
I got some of the carpets shampooed yesterday. Chance's room, bathroom, hallway, and part of the living room. Looks MUCH better.
Can you believe Drew is 2 months old today!!??
I used to try to make Thursday my free day. I may do that today and work on scrapbooking? Need to, want to. But will I?
Work break! Heidi, the issue has gotten a bit better. We split the den into two, added more adults, plus some boys have been absent so that helps! It is still overwhelming to deal with 3rd grade boys after school! Hope your reeval meeting goes well.
Jenny, whatever it takes, right? My DS just got that game, I won't let DD play it.
Well, I did exercise - yay! Only 20 minutes. Hope to do a 15 minute Zone tonite - I think that will help me feel like I am moving forward - not backward.
Good to check in. I am still on the move around here, zipping from meeting to meeting. I'm starting to think I should stop volunteering so much and just get a paying job for all these hours!
Glad to hear from so many of you. I like to peek in and catch up even when I can't post. Like now -- need coffee and more work.
Lenora, thanks for peeking in. I haven't wanted to see Narnia because in the pictures, it looks like Aslan is the wrong color. Isn't that silly? But his coat is so vividly described in the books, and I used to have a stuffed lion who was just the right color. So it bothers me.
Hi Andrea! Hope work went okay.
Nice to see you Heidi.
Jenny, give Drew a happy two-month birthday kiss for me!
Hi Shaun! I've thought about you a lot lately, with all the writing I've been doing.

DH is working late from home tonight and I am wiped from my meeting -- no cleaning for me!
I did a good job of staying on top of the kitchen -- even managed to wipe the counters with antibacterial spray. (I use this cool stuff that disinfects naturally with a distillation of thyme oil.) The stove top, well, that's for tomorrow, I think. A bit too scary to look at right now.

The wings and beer last night with the girls was fun. We will do that again in March. Every other month works for most of our schedules.
Andrea- the MFE re-eval went well. DS made some significant improvements on subtests and overall scores. We are so grateful to our team, they are truly dedicated caring teachers. It makes the whole thing so not an ordeal.
Becky-did you rewash your sheets upon finding them???LOL
Hi Shaun- I know what you mean sometimes about volunteering. When you factor in the time and gas expense and babysitters or whatever,it costs to work for free!
Well, I'm gonna head back to bed for a bit before the morning really starts
Heidi, you beat me - and at a ridiculous hour I must say. I'm glad you are back to bed. Glad the mtg. went well - it is great to hear of success and positive outcomes.
I love the smell of thyme - where did you find that Shaun?
When do you find out if you are accepted to the program Becky?
Well, I'm off to jump in the shower - running late.
Baby not well -- DD2 has been vomiting and can't keep even 2 teaspoons of water down. Going to try to put her to bed soon, but she's enjoying some new playdoh, and the puppy is not causing problems so I'm just popping in.
Well, I had the best of intentions. Then I got sick, and the rest of the family is suffering cabin fever or the like, and my house is an absolute disaster zone. I don't even want to be there. I am so overwhelmed with the amount of work that needs to be done, it's exausting to think about.
PODA
at least 2 loads of dishes, plus handwash big pots & pans
the counters, sink & stove need a good scrubbing
7 loads of laundry or so
sweep kitchen, dining room, living room, hallway, and two bathrooms
vacuum my bedroom
DD's room is terrible, can't even see the floor
the bathrooms are disgusting (WHY can't 13 and 15 year olds rinse the sink after they brush?)
there are piles on the dining room table and counters and one table in the living room
empty the trash
the DSs need to clean their rooms
the mudroom looks like a winter clothing bomb went off in there
water the plants! They are drooping
feed the fish
I figure this PODA will take at least through Monday morning because I still feel weak and dizzy. I can't even yell at them to do it. Maybe I'll write a note.
Sigh. I am really fried that 3 almost-adult males couldn't keep it together. Makes me want to run away from home.
That's the ingredient in the cleanser, which I buy through Melaleuca (kind of an Amway or Watkins type company, though I don't know much about either of those two). It smells more cleanser-ish than herbal, I suppose because of the strength of the concentration. I am one of those suckers who thinks that "smelling clean" = "smelling of recently used cleansers."
I wrote a (too) long post the other day. And, when I had finished it, the site had gone down so I lost the content. I took it as a clear sign promoting brevity and discretion in sharing personal info.
My energy level remains low, which ticks me off. So, instead of using my time wisely, I spend it web surfing, playing sudoku, or solitare. This temporarily distracts me from being bummed over my lack of energy, but long-term it just increases my frustration with not having any energy to accomplish anything which leads me to continue to fritter away my time to provide temporary distraction but increases my frustration with not having any energy.... You get the picture. Nothing gets done but navel-gazing, puzzle working, and increased irritability. Makes me one sweet gal to be around! LOL.
I'm trying to make some permanent changes so I'm working through both Julie Morgenstern books (organizing and time management) at the same time. I'm deep into the psychological obstacles right now, taking an inventory of my particular strengths and weaknesses and how it's all effected my relationships.
Yes, I know I'm probably mkaing waaaay too much of a deal over it all, but this is the way I best make lasting changes. I have to go alllll the way there, before I can make even little behavior changes. It's the diva path for starring in my life. My life that stars me and is all about me. Did I mention that the subject is me? LOL
Witchie, be kind to yourself. Make big signs for the boys; e.g., "Items left on the floor of the mudroom are subject to seizure (I made this one for a horizontal surface that kept getting bombarded with kids' junk. It worked a miracle.)
Hope the baby gets better (sick babies are always scary).
I have been plugging along. Tomorrow I am off on a three-day birding-watching marathon in New Mexico with friends (one of whom is an expert birder). Sometimes being middle-aged with young adult kids is really just fine.
DS forgot his homework so when he got home I took him back to school to get it. Upon turning down my street we see 2 puppies running down the middle of the road heading for a main intersection. We stop, put them in the van and take them to the address on their tags. No one home so we put them in our garage and wait. 4 hours later I try the number again and they had just walked in and saw that the dogs had gotten out. She just picked them up a few minutes ago. What an adventure. I am so glad that we rescued them from what could have been a tragedy.
My hair turned out nice, a warm golden brown. DS just cleaned his room and now we will watch Million Dollar Baby.
I need to write the plan for the day because writing things out helps me organize my thoughts.
PODA
finish catching up here at the office (about two hours, but will give me a feeling of control and accomplishment)
sort the laundry
start washing
have boys bring clean folded laundry upstairs and put away
unload dishes (boys did a load of dishes last night)
re-load dishes

get DSs going on their rooms

re-boot laundry

re-boot laundry
make a nice dinner, maybe rent a movie
try to have a peaceful, positive evening

Tomorrow *we* will tackle the floors, the mudroom, DD and my bedrooms, and the bathrooms and get all the clean laundry put away. Plus have a little family meeting to design a plan for keeping things under control.
Hi y'all! DH and I just played our second Scrabble game of the day but he was a bad sport about it because I won. Well, what can I say, I'm just a Scrabble champ.
Jo and Heidi, you got way more done today than I did! I did a little crocheting and that's about it. Well, and routines.
Well, we are not going to church, my house is pretty well maintaing, so... I am going to exercise, do a Zone, do one load of laundry, and spend the rest of the day scrapping (I hope).
You must be pretty good Becky, I never win at Scrabble, can't get past the 3 and 4 letter words!
Jo, have you come up with a plan for your family? (cleaning, I mean).
Heidi, did you like MDBaby? DH saw it and liked it, I haven't seen it yet.
PODA
put away more laundry
walk
BJ's for lunch meat for the week

general tidying

Andrea- we didn't see it yet, Uncle Buck was on and they wanted to see that instead. At least my library lets you renew DVDs a few times, at this rate it'll be awhile before we see any!
We did make it to church -- first Sunday in 3 weeks. Just DD6 and I -- didn't want to spread any lingering germs from DD2. She does seem to be recovering after a few terrible days.
Lisa, some unasked-for, possibly unwanted advice: I so relate to the web sudoku (and boggle!) and other tuning-out activities. I am experiencing some real burnout. Probably a combination of SAD (season affective disorder), cabin fever, sick kids, and just too much to do without much emotional support.
Sometimes, I think it can be really great to pause in the self-improvement process and just decide that for now you are also fine as you are, even if you could be better too. I think it can be very depressing to have ourselves in a constant round of self-improvement, causing us to feel terminally deficient.
I've done The Artists Way, all kinds of Oprah stuff, Julie Morgenstern books, Cheryl Richardson books, and Lord knows what else. I think there is a point where "taking care of myself" just becomes another way to feel overwhelmed.
So, that is my two cents! For what it's worth, your milage may vary, etc.
Hoping to sort through hundreds of tiny socks for kids 0-6 and figure out which each kid can wear, which to keep for the little one, and which to pitch! That's about all I can stand for today.
I do let my girls play it. I figure it can't be as bad as Grand Theft Auto or something worse that they have out. There is no blood, and they watch the movies anyway. Actually, the one they like to play is the new Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. So far, all the fighting is with the Lightsabers and The Force. DD8 has almost beat Count Dooku. LOL!

the bathrooms are disgusting (WHY can't 13 and 15 year olds rinse the sink after they brush?)
there are piles on the dining room table and counters and one table in the living room
empty the trash
the DSs need to clean their rooms
the mudroom looks like a winter clothing bomb went off in there
water the plants!

Thymol
That's the ingredient in the cleanser, which I buy through Melaleuca (kind of an Amway or Watkins type company, though I don't know much about either of those two). It smells more cleanser-ish than herbal, I suppose because of the strength of the concentration. I am one of those suckers who thinks that "smelling clean" = "smelling of recently used cleansers."
Busy Forum
Yours from looney land.
Blues Gal Lisa
Hello, Ladies
I have been plugging along. Tomorrow I am off on a three-day birding-watching marathon in New Mexico with friends (one of whom is an expert birder). Sometimes being middle-aged with young adult kids is really just fine.

Good Evening!

my PODA minus returning the jeans
Have a wonderful weekend
Heidi

Hi y'all! DH and I just played our second Scrabble game of the day but he was a bad sport about it because I won. Well, what can I say, I'm just a Scrabble champ.
Jo and Heidi, you got way more done today than I did! I did a little crocheting and that's about it. Well, and routines.
MOrning Everyone! Happy

Happy Sunday!
Wel.l, I'm sure I will check in later -

Andrea- we didn't see it yet, Uncle Buck was on and they wanted to see that instead. At least my library lets you renew DVDs a few times, at this rate it'll be awhile before we see any!
Well on with the day,see ya all later
Heidi
Oooh, scrapping
Sounds fun Andrea.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!
HI all - Yay - I finally got

I'm starting the new thread?!
Hardly seems right . . .
pick your battles
I do let my girls play it. I figure it can't be as bad as Grand Theft Auto or something worse that they have out. There is no blood, and they watch the movies anyway. Actually, the one they like to play is the new Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. So far, all the fighting is with the Lightsabers and The Force. DD8 has almost beat Count Dooku. LOL!
hope the baby's okay!
No, I wasn't cursing you or anything. I just associate you with writing.
Does that stuff make your kitchen smell like thyme? Is that weird when you make a dessert?
