Wolf Moon

Submitted by Lynn on Fri, 01/13/2006 - 10:32am.

Tomorrow is the Full Wolf Moon, the first full moon of the new year. This page from Space.com has the Native American names of all of the full moons for 2006 along with some extremely interesting moon facts. I mean, interesting if you're into astronomical stuff and grand cycles. (Did you know that every 19 years the phases of the moon repeat on the same days of the year?)

Meanwhile, I'll be waiting for the pink moon. I saw it written and I saw it say, it's on its way.

Full Corn Moon. I never got that lyric until just now. Does that mean Disney set the cartoon in September? I seem to recall a lot of leaves flying around.

Very cool link.

I think that is, in fact, when John Smith's trial or whatever was.

Ecological calendar

I expect you've already heard of this one Lynn but for anyone who hasn't and might be interested we use the Ecological calendar at home and (amongst masses of other stuff)it gives the names of the moons throughout the year. Well, it gives each day of the year a name instead of just a number and where the days coincide with the full moon they go by the name of the moon. It's a fascinating calendar as it ties the dates to what is going on in the natural world. I'm not sure how to link to the website or to amazon or I would.
