New Thread Guys...
see you there!
Helloooo, where is everyone?
I ended up not going to the funeral. It was cold (30's) and started snowing and I really didn't want to get the baby out in that. I had already made my broccoli casserole, so we had that for dinner with biscuits and hamburger helper. got a few little things done around the house, some work at the desk and papers, and that's about it.
It's 10 and I want nothing more than to go to bed. Ah, but life has other ideas. Chance is still up (watching a movie quietly in my bed. Hoping he will fall asleep). Drew still needs one more feeding, so will be more like 11 when he is ready for that. And DH is at his school board meeting.
Think I will print letters for the cheerleaders and deliver them tomorrow before school.
Well, I convinced my husband that with both had to drag out butts out of bed early this morning, and it has been delightful. (We are a one-car, two-school-drops family this morning, so we needed a little extra time.)
By 9 am the dog had been out twice, the girls were out the door, the DW was emptied and partly reloaded, counters wiped, roomba running in the kitchen, me showered and even blow-dried. At 8:56 I was pouring myself a cup of coffee and getting ready to come upstairs and do a bit of work.
I can do this.
I am avoiding my church work, but I suppose I'll have to get to it this afternoon. This am I'll do some freelance, some work in my office, and take puppy for a walk.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Ladies, I am on a decluttering mission, and I am being ruthless.
* Threw away the old Christmas tree. I like the little one we used this year so much better. Some day, when I have grandchildren and I want a bigger tree, I will buy a new one. Maybe.
* Went through boxes of my late parents, threw some stuff out, put the books on our bookshelf, put the rest where the old Christmas tree used to be (inside the windowseat).
* Threw away more old Christmas stuff I don't think I'd ever put out again.
* I found a box in the closet that I thought I had donated. Realistically, the contents wouldn't have sold at a yard sale for five dollars, so it's all in the trash.
I've been battling some health demons (sounds rather Joan of Arc-ish doesn't it...battling health demons)since the end of last week. It's nothing serious, just zaps all my energy. I can't tell if one of all of the following conditions is present:
1. Dealing with the side effects from
discontinuing some of my medications that
buildt up to toxic levels just before
2. Having a gradual recurrence of symptoms
from the condition that the medications I was
3. Catching something
I saw one of my wide array of health professionals for a previously scheduled follow-up visit Monday. I started a new medication last night. Taking a new anything is always a risky proposition for me, I am extremely sensitive (not necessarily allergic, but I'm not taking it again) to a wiiiiide variety of chemicals. So I had trouble getting to sleep, nervous as to how my body would react.
Last night was the second late night I'd had coming from a week of increasingly fitful sleep--another symptom of increasing biological imbalance.
Good news, I am tolerating the new med well--so far, so good. And unlike some of my previous medications, results should be realized in a week or less (I hate it when something takes 4-6 weeks to become effective).
My ta da list is very short for the past week, but I've had to be content to get morning/evening routines accomplished and bust a little clutter here and there.
Unfortunately, I've been too bushed to post but I've stopped by to read other's news. Jennye, my thoughts have been with you.
Other than looking forward to an early evening as I'm seriously overdrawn at the sleep bank and they've denied me any more zzz credit, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with the dog.
I went to the grocery store yesterday. I came home, unloaded the car, and got the ice cream into the freezer before heeding nature's call. Unfortunately, nature required that I couldn't get back to the groceries for quite awhile. Being preoccupied with my impending biological functions, I didn't pay too much attention where I dropped the food bags in the kitchen. As a result, the bag with raw meat ended up on a chair...a chair well within snout and jaw distance for my dog.
Betsy, my Brittany, greatly enjoyed with the smoked ham hock--including the bones--to which she treated herself. By the time I was able to return to the kitchen, she was starting to remove the second hock from the package. She was rather thirsty last night and required a late night trip outside. Otherwise, I am waiting.....for further results.
It's a good thing I was better at child-proofing than I have been at dog-proofing. Betsy's been with me for about 18 months and has consumed several contraband items with some mostly inconvenient and thankfully not serious ramifications. (The worst was the evening she ate an entire raw ribeye steak, she was very happy and promptly waddled off to bed. You see digestion requires a great deal of her energy! The consequences arrived the next afternoon.)
If I'd been this bad with my kids, they wouldn't have survived. I wonder if there's a "puppy poison control" hotline? LOL.

Jennye- did the kids finish their thank yous? I could never sew without a pattern, but then again I don't sew anyway!!!
Andrea-hope your head cold goes away pronto.
Lois-I plan to toss excess Xmas stuff when we take it all down this weekend. Good Job!
See ya all later
Hope you feel better soon, Lisa!
Not sure what I'm going to do today. Mostly I think I'm going to get ready for tomorrow. Here's part of the agenda: meet with church staff re: upcoming meeting; meet with pastor re: upcoming meeting; dental cleaning; haircut/foil/eyebrow wax. Somehow I'm not sure there are enough hours in that day!
Gotta feed the kidlets! Have a good day!
Well, I am feeling ok, just stuffy and kinda in the fog. Trying to avoid nasal spray as I become dependent on it.
I got everythiing done but the Zone yesterday - there really isn't time with exercise, dinner, etc thrown in there. Oh well.
Heidi, gosh you have quite the day planned.
Hi Shaun - sounds like a good plan!
Well, I'm off -
Lisa, you cracked me up! Sounds expensive to accidently feed the dog. LOL! I'm a horrible doggie mom, we often forget to feed him for a few days. But he remains fat and healthy, likes to catch rabbits and prairie dogs and trucks (though the latter causes damage, he keeps getting hit!). Same goes for cats (none of our animals are inside ones).
Heidi, strawberries this time of year?! Are they good ones?
Well, I didn't feel good yesterday, achy and shivering. So I didn't do much. Except get mad at DH. He did something that really pissed me off. But I'll blog about it rather than take up the space here.
I got cheerleading notes delivered today (we have two games this week). And I will try to take care of why DH pissed me off. And laundry. Always laundry. I'm glad I'm not doing cloth diapers right now! Need some new covers if I do decide to.
Lisa, I couldn't help but chuckle reading your dog story. I have a friend whose every recipe begins with:
Step One: Put the dogs outside.
I got a lot done yestderday, but I am fighting a virus today and the virus is winning. I am just going to rest today.
Yep, I'm done. Now I can go back to "normal" life.
Lisa, I saw on Animal Planet that you actually can call the regular Poison Control center for dogs.
See y'all soon.
Good Early Morning!
Up with the birds
DS off to school
DD off to field trip
start packing Xmas decor
pick up DD
vacuum main floor
Becky-congrats on finishing your application, what's the timeline now?
HI all -
That's great Becky - must feel good!
Heidi - up with the birds?! It is 5:47 am here right now- I would call that up with the birds - it looks like you posted at 1:31 am my time which would be either 1:31 or 12:31 your time which I would call up in the dead of night!
HI Lois - hope your virus is short-lived.
Jenny, I read your blog and I'd be steamed too! Have you tried talking to him at all?
How is your dog Lisa?
Well, I am enjoying a bit of quiet time before others are up. I already sent DD7 back to bed when she followed me and the cat down at 5:30.
Regular day today for me. I think I am on the uphill side of this virus so hopefully I will continue to feel better. Still kinda stuffy.
maybe a Zone???
It will be nice here, in the 50's so maybe I can do some stuff in the garage.
Shaky day today, we'll see what develops. Sleep still seems to be an issue as I insist on getting up before 6 every morning. If I could lounge 'til noon it wouldn't be a problem. Just another example of how one's expectations can get in one's way LOL.
The dog lived, hopefully I'll learn.
As always with my life, plans change. DH and I ended up going to town to take some papers to the bank (renewing our operating loan), then we went to Chili's for lunch (hey, who am I to say no to that!). On the way home we saw a big grass fire (yeah, another one). Halfway home, DH got the call to come help fight it. I have to admit it was fun driving 85mph w/ the hazards on to get him to the fire house to hop in a firetruck. Since our fire, DH has joined our volunteer dept and should be getting his very own radio/pager thing soon. So, that's how the day went.
I did get the kitchen cleaned up from his mess he left the night before. And that's about it.
Today I must catch up. Laundry is going. I'm sippin' on my slimfast (I've GOT to lose this baby weight!!), and I'm going to do my Cindy Crawford video (actually do it, not just watch it! LOL!). It's the one she made right after she had her first baby. Wish Jenny McCarthy had one out. She looked pretty darn good in Playboy after her baby! I'm sure THAT is hopeless for me. LOL!
Also need to make those bloomers. We have ball game tonight at 4:30 (cheer the Varsity Girls game). Then one tomorrow night, too. Oh, and I need to get money trasferred and pay bills.
walked a mile
sold $30 worth of stuff at consignment shop
About to pick up Dd from her field trip. The entire preschool went downtown to see a play. They all looked so cute in their dress up clothes.
Gorgeous 50 degree day here, feels like springtime.
Jennye- I thought you were gonna tell us that you suffered another fire on your land,Sorry to hear about it but glad that it wasn't yours.
Is it SO hard to use one's car ashtray? Geez.
Heidi, the timeline from here on is that I should hear something in mid-April. Meanwhile, I will be TA'ing and studying for the comprehensive exam.
But right now I'm doing laundry!
Jo-hope you are better today
Dare I say TGIF? It is Friday the 13th after all!! DS has asked me if we can watch a scary movie tonight already(after DD is in bed of course)
DS off to school
1 load laundry
Marc's for a few things
drop off donations
pet store so DD can look at all the animals and we need bulk dog food
read with Dd(been lax about that lately)
walk if weather cooperates
I am finally feeling human again. I will go to the office and catch up.
I have my 6 week post partum checkup (though it's been 8. Soonest they could get me in). Lovely. DH is taking Chance, Drew will come with me. Going to get pictures developed as well (finally!!). Groceries, errands. And will be back at the school tonight for more ball games.
Got through my 4-appt. day yesterday and actually got some work done today. DD2 has not napped for 5 days straight -- I think the writing may be on the wall, and it ain't pretty. I rely on sleep as free childcare while I work, plus she is exhausted and cranky. Not sure where this will go . . .
Nothing too much house-related done -- I am in a holding pattern of keeping laundry and dishes moving out of the machines and having everyone marginally well fed. Tonight: lasagne leftovers from some lasagne I made and froze last month. At least it has tomatoes, spinach, and broccoli -- need those veggies!
I feel human again!!!!
Boy, do I have a lot of catching up to do!
Today I'm attacking the girls' room with a vengence. If you don't hear from me in a couple of days, call 911. Whatever is living in there may have eaten me alive!
Oh, and BTW. Both Varsity girls and boys won both their games on Thursday AND Friday! We kicked butt!!! the girls game last night ended with us leading by about 40 points! Such a wonderful change in the girls team from last year. What a difference a new coach makes!
Church council meeting today, so the afternoon will be wasted. I hope they don't bicker over things.
I am baking that very easy chocolate mix-cherry pie filling cake to take for the potluck. My house smells gooooood.
Sounds yummy Lois!
Hi Jenny! Coaches do make a big difference don't they?
HI Shaun - this will be a chance for you to exercise your creativity with cooking. You are creative anyway, shouldn't be a problem.
Well, DS still has a buddy here from last nite. DD and I just got home from church. On to do some chores.
I woke up to the smell of turkey broth! I pop it in the crockpot before bed and in the morning, voila, broth. The turkey is a tad dry, however . . .
Not sure what's happening today. I'm hiding out from the rest of the family for a little break: DH is very sick with a cold, and DD2 has something too. High fever last night, throwing up. Better today, but still very cranky.
Family movie day, anyone?
Had to miss a friend's child's baptism at church today -- bummer. But otherwise I don't mind hanging out around the house. Especially not with lovely soup to make! Maybe DD6 and I can make some popovers or bread to go with it.
So I'll go onward, like Andrea!
That's a great idea for broth Shaun - I throw away so many carcasses from chicken and turkey. I will try that next time because I love homemade stock. Hope you can avoid that bug.
Zone (baseboards in kitchen) finished
cleaned powder room
DH dust mopped upstairs
went to church
fold laundry and put away - 1 load
scrapbook! - this is my reward
In between I will be shuttling kids to and from friends' houses and making chicken enchiladas for dinner. So glad tomorrow is MLK day and noone has to work around here!
Well, I survived. So did the children. Wasn't sure there for a while the way the girls were bickering last night.
Got their room all cleaned up! Threw away a garbage bag and a half of mostly papers. All clean. but for how long?
Was up til midnight doing laundry. Chance has a bug again (I suspect a little boy that was playing here a few days ago, whose mom said he wasn't feeling good anyway). He threw up all over my bed (of course). Then again this morning. Which causes DH to start yelling that he was leaving (he hates throwup). It's been a fun few hours. Is it nap time yet?
I also baked chocolate chip cookies because DH kept eating the chips in the pantry. I bake them, the kids and I eat them, problem solved. But I still haven't started exercising yet. Oops.
Hellos to all!
dog to vet
DD to preschool
Aldi's for groceries
home to unload
make a couple calls
pick up Dd
art project or game with her
Our dog's visits should start tapering off to once a week now instead of twice a week. Thank goodness all these follow ups are included in the cost of surgery or we would be broke!!
Been thinking of all you AWOL people and hope you all are doing well.
1 load washed
pot roast in oven slow cooking
BJ's for lunch meat and such
laundry in dryer then put away
DS may have a friend sleepover here
Andrea- I'm with ya re MLK Day. May take the kids to a museum tomorrow since they are all free on MLK Day.
Jennye-glad the kids survived! I just this past week started walking regularly. I need to lose some pounds but I am mostly doing it because my genetics have alot of heart and stroke and diabetes, etc in them and I want to cut my chances some.
Lois-glad you are feeling better.
Sounds like everyone has good cooking smells in their homes today! Too bad the site isn't scratch and sniff, huh?
See ya all later,hopefully
Not doing anything cultural or educational. Using the free day off of school to take myself and DD8 for a haircut and a perm for me, too. It's only been a year since my last haircut! YIKES! It does look very scary, even DH said the other day he almost didn't want to be seen with me, it's that bad. DD8 said she wanted a little bit shorter do, and she needs one. It's almost to her waist and gets tangled very easily now.
Heidi, good thing about the price of the doggie doc visits! Had it been a human dr, you would be broke! LOL!
Made it to church yesterday, lots of gushing over Drew. DH was very concerned about me going by myself with 4 kids. LOL! If you are so concerned, go with me! But no, he wanted to haul hay instead (he would rather I just stay home. He's mad at God right now. LOL!).
I'm hoping to talk to DD8s teacher today about her math assignments (I don't understand why her Accelerated Math assignments are so far ahead of what she has actually learned in math. She brought home problems multiplying 2 2-digit numbers and I KNOW they haven't learned that yet!). And I need to go to a funeral (old man at church died, used to be one of my most faithful coffee drinkers when I waitressed at the hotel. 2 times a day with the guys, a couple times a week dinner with his wife and another couple on bridge nights). I need to make a brocolli casserole for the funeral.
I HAVE to this week make bloomers for my cheerleaders. I have about 3 or 4 that are just wearing shorts under their skirts because I didn't have enough to hand out (thanks to people that don't turn them in!!! ARG!). They cost $10 each to buy, I think I'll save a lot of money making them. If I can figure out how to do it without a pattern. Should be interesting.
Just haven't gotten back in the habit of posting, I guess. Soon though, I promise!
*Had teeth cleaned
*Changed church mailing address
*Survived two trips to postal inquisition office to change address for newsletter bulk mailing.
*Home blessing. This can take a while.
Yesterday's board meeting lasted until 6:30 p.m., then I stayed and wrote notes to the visitors until about 7 p.m.
It is exciting that we have had many visitors trickling in to visit at church since we moved to the new place. Some come back (I think they said there were 18 who came yesterday who came since we opened, 5 were brand new that day). Some we never see again. But we expect that.
One good thing about our fire. It burned so much that there is nothing left to burn. Makes a good fire break! LOL!
No, this fire was between the towns of Portales and Clovis out on the airbase highway (in other words, in the middle of nowhere). Probable cause: someone threw a cigarette out the window. damage report: burned 1,500 acres and shut down two highways due to smoke, but no structures were damaged.
Been flying low. I have this weird cold thing: my throat hurts, my ears feel cottony, my head aches, and I have no energy. I have been pretty useless the past couple of days, but I've had fun on the web, read two books, and generally laid low.
Congrats Becky! I am in awe. I had this goal to have my PhD by age 40, but that just isn't gonna happen. So, I'll live vicariously through you, OK?
