Description
Ingredients
- 1gal cider
- 1c brown sugar
- 2 tsp. whole cloves
- 2 tsp. whole allspice
- dash of ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp. salt (I don't use that much, just a pinch)
- 1 cinnamon stick--6"
- 1gal cider
- 1c brown sugar
- 2 tsp. whole cloves
- 2 tsp. whole allspice
- dash of ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp. salt (I don't use that much, just a pinch)
- 1 cinnamon stick--6"
Instructions
In a saucepan, combine above ingredients. To make it extra special, add a splash of orange juice. Bring everything almost to a boil--then--reduce heat and simmer away for 15 or 20 minutes. Strain. Serve with Love and a cinnamon stick!
Notes
I've made this with half a gallon of cider, halving the spices, since a whole gallon is too much unless it's a party. It's very very tasty. I prefer it without the orange juice, but I have put in just a dash of orange liqueur in after ladling into my mug.
You could easily do this in your crock pot/slowcooker. It'd make your house smell divine for hours.
I've not tried these spices with wine, but if you do, or know of a good mulled wine recipe, do tell!
