Prayers requested
Two soldiers from Fort Drum were killed in Baghdad earlier this week. My friend Sylvia's husband was critically injured in the same attack. LJ is currently at Landstuhl Army Hospital in Germany. They will attempt to stabilize him before medevac'ing him to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in DC. Please keep these families in your prayers.

Very sad news
Lieutenant Colonel Leon James II succumbed to his injuries yesterday. Left in profound pain are his wife and three daughters. He was a good, kind, and gentle man.
I knew how grave his injuries were, but as each day passed, I clung to the hope that he would recover - that my friend Sylvia would not become yet another widow. I held on to the image of Leon chatting with my husband over a Guinness or two.
I can't believe that he's gone, and I will never understand why it had to happen.

I got word this week that a cousin of a good friend got shot in the head over there; he survived and is in critical condition but as soon as he's patched back up they intend to send him back in.
I'm awful sorry for this family's loss, Rose. I thought about him often.
