Vonnie, the B&B sounds cool!! Gosh, I don't remember ever doing anything special much for any anniversary. 11 years this year, and the most we have ever done is out to dinner without the kids once or twice. Oh, well.
Susannah, I don't watch those shows either. In fact, since Friends is gone, I have no shows I watch regularly!! I catch the baseball game if it happens to be on. If there is a decent movie on I may watch. But for the most part, I don't watch much anymore. The TV is on alot, usually on Disney or PBSKids or FoxNews. I used to have so many shows I watched reg. wow.
Glad everyone is ok after the hurricane. But I still need some rain! LOL!
I have lots to do, and hope I can get to it. My back is hurting lately. The baby has dropped I think, my back and sciatica and bladder have been suffering, but hey, now I can breathe. LOL! So we will see what I get done. I need to do some desk work, figure out how on earth to figure out a rent check (a difficult thing. We lease 600 acres from a lady, the rent is 1/4 crop. Out of that I have to figure out the cost of cutting and baling her share and take that from it. Simple to say, difficult to do with the books). And I have to have some money transferred once I figure that for her rent, DH's shopping spree at the farm auction, and an insurance bill, and a land payment. Hey, when it rains it poors!!
At least the house isn't too bad after whipping the kids into action on Saturday.
New week and I'm trying to get back on track as far as Flying. Actually I've been doing fairly well with that, but just not posting here. When my mother was here she helped me get rid of some clothes and junk and stuff, and now the house doesn't look GOOD, exactly, but it looks a lot better. I'm keeping it up to "sorry about the mess" level rather than out-and-out chaos, and have not gotten behind on laundry yet.
Skipping out on homework helps.
I haven't been getting the Flylady e-mails lately. The reminders, I mean. I get testimonials and messages from Kelly and so forth, but that's it. Did she quit sending out the reminders or is there something wrong with my account?
I spoke with the Labor and Industry inspector this morning, and he said that once the electrical passes inspection we can open for business! And the electrical inspector comes today at 2:00!!!! Whoo-Hoo!!!! DH and I were dancing-around excited. We have so many customers having fits because they need stuff fixed. Yippee!

Susannah, I have never seen those shows either. We only get 3 channels and we really just don't have much time for TV. When I'm at my MIL's I love to watch Trading Spaces.
Ilse and Vonnie, I'm glad you are OK. May this be the last hurricane of the year.
Jenny, I wish I could send you our rain from today.
I am SO glad to hear you are okay, Ilse. Whew! Glad you're in air conditioning, too. Did DH stay home? I can't remember if you said that in your post. Sure hope they get the power up and running before long.
I have no idea how to fly at someone else's house. I can barely even fly at mine.
Jo, yellow dinner. Ha ha! Are you going to have an opening day celebration? You sure have busy days. How you fit the homeschooling in is beyond me.
Hi, Becky! Glad to see you pecking here.
Hi, Vonnie! Good to "see" you again! B&B sounds nice, I could deal with that. One of these years... I think our last "date" was "War of the Worlds" and a little Cuban restaurant. That was fun.
TA DA:
*Homeschooled
*Breakfast and lunch
*Filed all homeschool papers for Sept.
That's not much, is it? Oh, and I did make the bed this morning and printed off my week's worksheets & whatnot. DH is working mostly from home with this DFCS stuff, although he's taken off for Athens with a friend this afternoon. Needs a cell phone, a new pair of shoes and some office supplies. And I have a feeling they'll catch a matinee too, as usual. Must be nice!
I have to call my "boss" at the publishing co. and see if there are any afternoon hours I could work during the week. I was thinking 3-5 p.m., on the days he's there to help me get the filing sorted. Meanwhile we are hoping maybe the college (to make up for a wrongful termination) may place DH on "sabbatical" status instead of "terminated," until we transition into a new teaching job (Lord willing!) next fall. He's applying to other colleges right now. It probably means moving away if we do get another teaching position.
A whole day with chatterbox DD5! Every commercial for a toy "can you buy me that?" "huh?" "huh?". Didn't take this chick long to go from orphanage status to full-blown, spoiled American kid who wants everything that comes down the pike!! LOL!!
My TADAs since this morning:
* Finished laundry (last 1/2 load in dryer)
* Made phone calls for B & B - no luck yet!
* Chicken is cooking in crockpot
* Filled in October family calendar
* Called DH's cousin & left a message
* General straightening up
Well, I'd better run. DH gets off work any time, so he'll be home in 30-45 minutes. We need to go to the attorney's office to pick up settlement check from DD's fall on broken glass back in spring.
This is a huge deal for DH as he has done the vast majority of the work himself! It also means we can have an income again!
AND the phone company truck got stuck in the mud right in front of the shop this afternoon. DH told the guy that he would pull the truck out (saving them a 75 minute wait fir their wrecker) IF they would run the wires from the pole to the shop. They said yes! Now we will have phones as soon as DH's uncle (retired from Verizon) comes to install the inside wires to the system!!! Whoo-Hoo!
Thank goodness the Karma seems to be flowing today. :-)Finally.
-Jo
Hope the Karma keeps flowing Jo! And yes, I do remember you describing yourself as an earth mama previously, now I have a better visual. I was picturing you in a tie dyed shirt and overalls, so I guess I was kinda on!
Susannah, hope you and your DH can work things out - can't imagine you moving, but I guess it happens! We moved quite a lot before we settled in NY.
Vonnie, hate those commercials!
HI Becky -
I'm off - worked today of course and just relaxing now -
Andrea
Susannah,
Yes was so good to sleep in AC last night. I had my first real bath since Friday today. It felt so good. Thought I would never get my hair clean. DH did stay home so that helped me alot.
I looked at the news today and it said something like 50,000 people are without electricty so keep them in your thoughts.
I also have very exciting news, after about 6 months of talking about it, and trying to figure out how to pay for it, my parents, DH grandmother, and DH parents are going to help us pay to move up here closer to our family. We are going to be moving behind DH Grandmother on 22 achers!! Can't wait. It will be an hour closer to work for DH. Excited but sad too to be leaving Sabine parish and all the friends I have made down there, but it is for the best.
Night Night,
Ilse
P.S. thanks for being so concerned for somebody so new to NH
I got laundry done (well, still one load to fold, but three done and put away). I did that desk stuff this morning (including another unGodly amount of bills. Ugh!!), did my news for the paper (and straighted out why my column wasn't in Sunday's paper. A new editor didn't KNOW it was supposed to be in there). DH wanted me to take the "new" truck out for a spin (it's an 86 F-250). Figured out the clutch while I was busy going from first to reverse and back again while killing a rattlesnake I found at the end of the driveway. Fat sucker, too. Killed another one on my drive. Chance is a better driver than DD8, he can keep it in the middle of the road, she just goes off into the barditch. LOL! But I have no lap for him to ride in anymore, he just has to sit next to me (this is only on our dirt roads, NOT the paved ones!! And since no one lives down these roads but us, I think it's safe enough).
Chance also wouldn't take a nap today. That is, until we were at the dinner table. Then it was impossible to wake him up. He woke up about 9:15, now I wonder how the night is going to be. Ugh. He's watching Dukes of Hazzard now. I broke down and subscribed to the sports package on my dish, so I can now watch Braves games (and watched us lose tonight). Better luck tomorrow (which I'll probably miss because of volleyball games).
Today is DH's birthday and, of course, our busiest day of the week.
TADA
I'm out of bed

birthday
drop him off at the dentist
go to the butcher and get some steak
buy DD some new dance tights
pick up DH
take DD to dance
take DH home
take DD to soccer
pick up the DSs from soccer
make dinner
Whew! Crazy.
Susannah, you need to remember dear that I am only homeschooling one child, and she is in kindergarten! Her lessons take about 60 minutes a day. That's how I can do it with all the other stupid running around I have to do, and trust me, some days I can't even manage that.
We are going to have a big open house on Sunday. DH wants to do burgers and dogs and the whole works. I am going to write an article about the business re-openeing, and us taking over from DH's parents for the paper as soon as I'm done here.
Andrea, I have 3 tie-dyed shirts! (In fact, I'm wearing one right now.)
Jenny, my DH was letting my boys drive his truck back and forth to the shop on the paved road around a terrible blind corner when they were 11 and 9! Until I found out. I used to drive on our barn road when I was a kid, and we all drove the tractors from the time we could reach the pedals. The driver's Ed teacher was always making funny comments about how easy his job was teaching farm kids how to drive.
Yesterday, my Monday group and I rolled out about 1000 cookies. I made 20 batches of oatmeal raisin and 20 batches of chocolate chip cookie dough on Sunday. What a job. But, it's all part of the Christmas plan. I now have dough nuggets in the freezer for holiday baking. Last year we made the dough together and it was a big mess, so this year I did the assembly line method and did it all myself. We meet every 2 weeks for HGP, someone brings lunch (yesterday was chicken salad, fruit, zucchini choc chip bread and caramel pie, YUM ) We will be doing candy centers next visit, then rubber stamping cards to give as gifts, and finally dipping spoons for gifts.
Trying to get back into the routine of home. DH and I had a nice visit to Oahu. I must say that we both preferred Maui, Honolulu is so crowded and commercialize, but the weather was perfect and the water was a beautiful blue and it was great to have some alone time with DH.
So for today. A friend just called and I need to run up to Krogers and gets some ibruprofen for her 5 year old who is running a fever. I will be volunteering at the high school from 1:30-3:30 passing out entertainment books (this years fund raisor).
So, flying PODA ???? -
Laundry
Sew on patch for DS scout meeting tonight
finish unpacking
touch up bathrooms
return library books
pick up first floor
That's about all I have planned, have a great day,
Susan
P.S. Jo, congrats on the business, hope it's a successful grand re-opening
Ilse, glad all are safe, sounds like the move will be a good thing
Jenny, hope it wasn't too late of a night for Chance. I remember when Kris would take a late nap and then be up way past all our bedtimes.
Vonnie, hope DD hasn't worn you out. It's amazing how some kids can just go on and on and on. It can be tiring in the moment but, before you now it she will be off with her friends and then off to college and you'll miss her company.
Susannah, I have loved reading your blog. With the pictures and all I feel as though your just a neighbor down the street. I hope things work out for DH and the teaching, moving is a little scary but can also be exciting.
Romper rooms hello to all the rest of the flybabies.
Mmmm! Susan, yum! And I'm glad you had fun in Hawaii. I've only ever been to Oahu because we have friends there, but one of my cousins moved to Kauai last year so now it's on my list too.
Happy birthday Jo's DH!
I'm glad you got your column straightened out Jenny.
Congratulations on the bath, Ilse! I've been there done that (went through Typhoon Herb while living in Taiwan about 10 years ago, similar amount of damage) and know how good it feels to finally get CLEAN in WARM WATER. And I'm glad you're getting to move where you want to move.
Hi Andrea!
Vonnie, I'm glad you're finally getting that settlement check.
Susannah, I'm supposed to be in Atlanta sometime in March so I'll try and catch you before you move. Is your DH applying to any colleges in the Los Angeles area, by any chance?
My TADA from yesterday:
-got halfway through laundry (it's clean and dry, just needs to be folded and put away)
-made no-bake cookies
-homework
-got some work done on craft projects
-got halfway through changing the sheets (I managed the bottom sheet)
-straightened up the kitchen a bit
-made some phone calls
PODA:
-put away laundry
-finish changing the sheets
-more homework
-classes galore
-go to the pharmacy
-mail off some stuff (money I owe!)
-more classes
-maybe some more work on craft projects
Jo, DH was driving the tractor at about 9. We let dd8 drive around the 4-wheeler (we put it in 2nd gear so she can't go very fast). No curves around here, though, just straight roads. You used to be able to get a learners at 14 and actual license at 15, but they changed to 16 about 9 years ago. I think I was about 12 when I started driving the tractor. I bet city kids are envious of farm kids to be able to drive so early (legal or not!). LOL!
Susan, have I ever told you I wished we were neighbors!!?? Sounds like so much fun over there!! Glad you had a good trip.
Oh, and Chance last night. I let DH deal with him, he said he fell asleep on the floor watching TV and put him in his bed, that was about 1. About 2 he came in and woke me up, wanted more cartoons, but I was firm and put him in his bed (with me in there with him, of course). We both fell asleep, bladder woke me at 4 and I went back to my bed, bladder woke again at 5:30, and finally got up for good at 7 when a charlie horse woke me up (since I kept hitting the doze button on the alarm).
It's picture day at school, and of course, I left the forms at home. So when I dropped the girls off, I found the yearbook teacher and got new forms and spent a horrible amount of money on barely any pictures. I got the smallest package that includes an 8x10. I want that size so I can scan it and then make copies off of it (shhhhh, don't tell!!!). While there, ended up chatting alot with some of the high school girls and a couple of the teachers. Yeah, I'm chatty. Didn't ya'll know that?
Hopefully will have a TADA later. Sometime today I need a shower, and tonight we are going to an away volleyball game (only 30 miles away). No, MR is not done. Ugh. Was too rushed to get the girls to school.
I am so glad everyone seems to have weathered the storms OK. My family in NOLA is still working on getting it together, and I just can't imagine how hard it is.
Gotta work this afternoon so I can go to appt with DH at 4 pm. Cleaning just enough to keep the sitter from calling social services!
Susan and Becky, it is good to see you checking in again!
Better go, just have 2 hours to rest, work, clean, and start dinner so we can eat as soon as we get back.
Shaun
"Home is not the one tame place in a world of adventure; it is the one wild place in a world of rules and set tasks."
-- G. K. Chesterton
Other than the dead hamster (see blog) nothing much happened in it. DH is Kilz-ing the walls for me right now.
I scrapped the potato latke idea, BTW, and did fish sticks instead.
So glad Jana's DS is okay. Thank God!
Tomorrow should be busy with history co-op, P.E. and a trip to Wal-Mart, and I need to do something in the crockpot so I can make it to a church meeting in the evening. Mom is driving, bless her.
The busiest day of the week. And DD5's soccer program is done for the year. Whew! That will help!
TADA
did everything on the PODA yesterday
PODA
chili in crockpot and remember to turn it on
dishes
one load laundry

garbage
homeschool
go work at the shop
both boys have soccer games tonight at fields 10 miles apart, so do the soccer shuffle
Jenny, my DS picture packages without an 8X10 were $29 each! I almost choked. I was thinking about taking DD in, but now I think I will take her to Sears for the $8 package with many more pics in it. Geez.
Susan, wow on the cookies. I admire your forethought and planning. I have always been a putz about the holidays.
Braves won (whoohoo!!!) and Broncos lost (oh, maaan!!!). Well, we better win it on Thursday (this is Volleyball, not football, btw).
Jo, this package cost $29! I know, it's outrageous!! But, being into pictures and scrapbooking that I am, I shelled it out x2 for the girls. I will still go to Sears and get more done. I may wait til after the baby is born (although a friend of mine runs a studio in town by herself, and even though she is more than Sears, I feel guilty not using her for family pictures).
Chalk yesterday up to nothing. I did get MR done this morning, I need to do a load of laundry. Maybe I should pick up the patio since the wind is supposed to blow today 40MPH (bringing in some cooler air so today's high will only be 81!!). And apparently the newspaper is STILL screwed up and never ran my Sunday column yesterday or today, but did run my other column today like they were supposed to. Ugh. Hope people aren't pissed at me that they didn't get their weekly ballgame schedules AND some very important Kindergarten news.
Well, Jo, it was just the two of us today. How'd you do?
Me, well, I flopped. Got laundry done, but not folded. I did fix a good dinner for all AND got the kitchen cleaned afterwards. And I cleaned my pickup some inside (wiped down the leather seats and door panels and dashboard, got out all the trash and other stuff). I'll vacuum it on Friday when I go to town, and should wash it, too (that is, I'll have it washed. I don't wash the truck. The dark blue is too hard for me to get everyspot and it looks like I missed a bunch. It costs the same to have it done as the quarters I put in the machine. And my truck is too big for the drive-thru washes).
Nothing computer-related, but DD-related. I came here several times today to post & as soon as I got it pulled up, here comes DD with a request...
I had a semi-productive day at work and at home. I'm trying to think about what I need to do to prepare for our trip this weekend and also do what I would normally do on the weekend for the next week. Whew!
Anyway, I need to go get DD in bed. I let her stay up later because they are out of school today, tomorrow & Friday for teacher retreat. OK, she's torturing the dog, so I'd better run.
I'm off to the school this morning. DH picked up the kids yesterday, so I didn't get my news for the paper from the school, so I need to get it this morning, talk to DD8s teacher about something, and maybe see if any girls have turned in cheerleading forms and money. Then we will just see what the day will bring. Tonight, volleyball game in Melrose.
Yep, I moved in yesterday. This is my first full day at the office, and the first thing I do is come to TNH to post.

DAY 7 of construction and there's still no flooring being put down, they are still painting. My aunt and I painted the same area 3 or 4 years ago and it only took us 2 days! Seriously they've been sanding a door for 2 days! If they were moving any slower they would be in reverse.
Yesterday it was 103 here. It's just far too hot to put up with these guys for much longer. Everyday it's something, either their trying to paint a room the wrong color or their trying to get out of painting it at all.
I'm not flying, well unless you count "flying off the handle" I am working hard trying to finalize all the stuff for the bowl-a-thon, it's this monday coming up, I'm glad it's almost here and almost over.
I know i'm whining, it's not the first time, probably wont be the last time.
Hope your all having a great morning. Gotta run, Savannah's awake.
jamie Lea
Today's high will be in the upper 60's. Definitely feels like fall. I wish I could send some of this cool weather your way Jamielea. Sorry about the workers. I hope they are being paid by the job, not by the hour.
Jo, congrats on your first day in the "office", hope it goes well,
Hey Jenny, didn't have time for posting yesterday and probably shouldn't today either, but wanted to say hi
TADA

Need to figure out what I'm fixing for lunch tomorrow---I told a friend I would bring lunch to her office at the new middle school, there will be 4 of us for lunch. Any suggestions on something portable and tasty?????
Need to also clean upstairs bathrooms
vacuum 2nd floor
pickup DS from school
review homework
dinner (DS wants stirfried shrimp and veges with rice)
DH probably working late
Jamie, I'm so sorry about the mess. That would drive me batty, too. Are you having it repainted in new colors, or the same?
Susan, you made me want to go to Cracker Barrel. I love their green beans and hash browns. Thank goodness it's pretty far away or I'd probably go there more than twice a year and spend all my money.
Jo, YIPPEEE! You're in your office!
I've been hanging out here. Slept in so late I'm not even going to tell you when I got up. Nothing much to report. Enjoying home too much to call and arrange work hours, but I guess I need to do that. I need to call about the girls' medical coverage right after lunch, and I need to finish up laundry, and clean toilets. Toilets really need daily cleaning around here (little boy misses). Oh, and the kitchen floor needs mopping. That's another task that really should be daily.
TA DA:
*Got one load in the dryer. Sorted the rest of the dirties.
*Cleaned up dishes and counters
*Made bed
*Deposited checks
*Ran to the hardware store for painter's tape
*Ran to the grocery store for miscellanea
*Broiling steak (bought on sale) right now for lunch
My sciatica has decided I shouldn't do ANYTHING today (I can barely walk across the room, ugh!!). So here I am. Personal post time! LOL!
Susannah, I love Cracker Barrel, too! The nearest one is in Amarillo (2 hours) and Albuquerque (4 hours). I would probably spend too much in their store, anyway! LOL!
Susan, I'll come by for dinner. LOVE shrimp, anyway I can get it!!
Jamie Lea, Ugh!!!! Well, a cool front came thru here last night, maybe it will hit you today or tomorrow.
Not much flying beyond being dressed to the shoes and having a shiny sink. I just finished up a quilt top. After my tea break I'll get it sandwiched using fusible batting, machine quilted and bound. This will be for my friend's husband (see my TNH blog) and I want to get the quilt to her before she leaves for Walter Reed Army Medical Center tomorrow. This is hitting me really hard. I had a good chat with my cousin this morning, which helped to lift the dark cloudy feeling I have.
It's a weird day - stormy with extremely strong winds. When my son woke up this morning, he informed me it was stormy because God is punishing us and God is punishing us because Daddy's in Iraq. Need to figure out where that's coming from and how to deal with it.
Back to quilting.
Rose
that's a tough one, please know that I think of you often. You, your son, and your DH are in my prayers.
It's SO much cooler here today, I think it's about 82! Heck I almost need a sweater
Good news, they say there starting on the carpet tomorrow morning!! I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. Bad news, I started back smoking. I'll stop again, but probably not today.
I'm cleaning my bedroom (where I've been stuck all day) so hopefully I have a TADA later.
See yall then.
JL
You get that cigarette out of your mouth right now!!!!! Shame on you girl!!! I've never "known" you to smoke!!! Get it out NOW!!!!!!!!
There, lecture over. LOL! And if you are now infuriated at me for chewing you out, well, have a smoke for me (I haven't had so much as a drag since my last drunk, 2 years ago, and then I had to hide it from DH. He made me quit before we got married or the wedding was off. LOL!)
You know after I posted that about the smoking I thought "maybe I should have kept that to myself?" you know, don't want to be judged to harshly or anything.....
But then I thought, oh heck everybody will just skim the post and miss the whole smoking thing.
Been battling a nasty double ear infection and have been AWOL here, sorry. I have missed you all but have been skimming posts.(Yes,Jamielea, even enough to see the smoking !!)
Let's see.......
Sears finally came and replaced belt on lawn tractor so I can mow very overgrown grass tomorrow.
DS did awesome(97%) on first math test of the year.

I finally got to come home today. The Electricity came on yesterday. I have spent most of the day trying to find out what hoops I have to jump throught to move. I have to get a bunch of permits before I can even get electricity. UGH! I think I found someone to move our trailer though.

I don't know if y'alls electric has ever gone off for 6 days or not. The worst so far has been the deep freeze. It has about 1/4 of frozen blood at the bottom. Makes me want to throw up even with my dust mask on. I had to take a break.
By the time I am done, I will probable have thrown away 150lb of food. Everything from spoiled meat, milk, eggs, and jelly. It's just so terriable it makes me want to cry. but I know there are those who lost a lot more then their groceries. We we're lucky. It still breaks my heart though.
Ilse
22 hours until our romantic, anniversary, B & B weekend begins! I am so excited!!! Got a couple of romantic items for the weekend
DH will be pleasantly surprised, I am sure!
I found a pretty gold and black top with some shiny threads in it to wear with my black pants and black strappy sandals for our romantic Saturday night dinner. I have no idea of how dressy the restaurant is, so I figure better safe than sorry!
I'm not even gonna try to post a PODA for tonight and tomorrow! I am trying to get laundry done, packing done, cleaning the house as I go, etc.
Morning all,
Done
*Dressed to shoes
*Sink Shined

*Work on my Avon
I have a tip for y'all. If your are facing cleaning out our deep freeze let me suggest you get a mop and hot water. After I scraped all the blood out with a spatuala. (It looked like a fight. 5' woman faces 4' freezer. I had to stand on a stool to reach inside. Don't that beat all!) Pour in hot water with soap and a little bleach and mop it our. It looks better but still does not smell to good. Any suggestions?
Susan glad to hear that it is cooler in KN. I would love to visit. Do you read Sharron McCrumb? She writes about the Smokies.
Must run,
Love,
Ilse
School has been nuts, I have a marathon choir rehearsal today and tomorrow (for university concert choir), and DH has been sick with a stomach bug. I'm skipping Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur this year. I figure this choir rehearsal is my spiritual endurance test for the year. What a week.
But yesterday I had the day off and took the opportunity to do some laundry and change the sheets!
See you on the other side of the marathon choir rehearsal.
Becky, thank goodness you posted the link to the $30 a week plan.
We have put every last dime we have into this business.
I no longer get a paycheck.
DH gets his last one today.
The business loan still hasn't come through because of delays waiting for the land deed and the appraiser.
I still havn't been paid for my tutoring hours.?!
I got a bill from the electricians yesterday for $17,878.
I'm just a tad bit stressed, can you tell?

Jamielea-What the haell are you thinkin? (I hope you all read that with a Dr. Phil twang)I'm gonna come down there and rip those cancer sticks out of your mouth myself if I have to. I'll kick the contracor's butts too if that would help. I am a blue belt you know.
Becky: breathe girl! I'll do Rosh Hashana for you. DD and I are going to make challah and do the apples in honey thing.
Vonnie, have a wonderful weekend. Have lots of fun!
Rose, we had the same weather yesterday. The village lost power, cable, and phone for 12 hours because a tree came down on the lines. That's interesting about what DS said. I find my DSs say things like that sometimes when they want to talk. They know a statement like that will spark conversation, and anger seems a more easily shown emotion than fear for them. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you.
Ilse, yuck on the freezer. I sure don't envy you. I would maybe try a baking soda paste?
Heidi, glad you're feeling better, we missed you.
Hi Jackie!
Our overnight temp was 36 degrees. I'm really not ready for that. Luckily, it's supposed to be sunny and in the 70s the next 4 days.
As an asthmatic and as an RN who has watched too many people literally turn gray and DIE, and as someone who loves you - I DEMAND THAT YOU TOSS THOSE CIGGIES AT ONCE!! Put them in the trash, then spray the trash can with Raid or Lysol or some other noxious chemical so that you can't go digging those things out of the trash later.
It's a lovely day here. We had our first frost overnight, but it is warming up now. I got all the downed tree limbs out of the way, and sometime this weekend we'll have a little bonfire in the outdoor fireplace.
William hasn't mentioned Iraq/Storm/God's Punishment so I'll just keep things casual for now. If/when he brings it up again .. I'll just let him explore his feelings. He seems to be in the midst of a huge developmental leap in terms of expressive language and intellectual reasoning.
The quilt is almost completed - just need to get some coordinating binding then I can finish it, and send it to DC.
TADA - laundry out on the line, yard cleaned up, long walk with canine, long bike ride for me.
PODA - purchase binding and complete quilt, get new rice cooker (old one just died), figure out where to go apple picking tomorrow
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Rose

I've had a big day. I sure am tired.
Night Y'all,
Ilse
Guys, Jamielea is having a stressful time, and I for one say if she wants to indulge in the Coffin Nails then she should go ahead and do it -- NOT!!!
Sorry, just had to jump on the bandwagon. We care about you girl! As a former smoker in my foolish youth, I can tell you that you can be a former smoker too, Permanently! End of sermon.
Special Hurrahs to Jackie and Ilse, you guys are doing awesome!
Rose, you are such a great mom I know you will be able to be there for DS however he needs it. I have so much admiration for you! (Even before your DH left -- you are one model New Homemaker)
My own confession: I am kind of procastinating. I have a big pastoral council retreat for church tomorrow and I need to review my notes and relax and pray, but I am just not in that mode. I am in a drink beer and watch Six Feet Under mode! I guess the good side is that I cleaned up the kitchen, LR, and DR, and I've run the Roomba in them all in my desire to avoid using my brain too hard.
On that score, if you are familiar with the movie The Shining you might find this link entertaining:
Shaun, I JUST got finished with that book last week! FREEKY! I almost got the movie the other day, but decided I just couldn't handle it. I don't do horror well (unless it's funny horror, like Arachniphobia), and DH won't do anything scarier than The Stand (I LOVE this book, BTW).
Hellos to everyone else. Too tired for personal posts, except Jo. I can relate to those kinds of bills. Ugh.
I'm exhausted. Had a dr. visit, all is well. Except I think the midwife I saw today is full of it. She thinks I'll deliver early and he won't be as big as Chance (she delivered him). Yeah, whatever! LOL! Well, as you know, I like nothing better than to prove people wrong...
DH went with me for a change, and we ran a TON of errands. I'm pooped. So, no flying today, but did get groceries and errands done.
I went and spent $350 at Costco on food for 200. Good thing my tutoring check came. I also got called yesterday for more tutoring. Six little guys who need some Wilson Reading work, next week to Decemebr 9th at $15 an hour/3.5 hrs. a day. Mom said she'd keep DD 2-3 days a week to help keep childcare costs down. I'll still be able to put in 4-5 hours a day here at the office and homeschool as well as pay for groceries and the van, so that is cool.
TADA
DH did the dishes-Bless him!
bank
Costco
cleaned offices
cleaned bathroom here
made recovery disks
updated books
PODA
sweep bathroom thoroughly
paint bathroom floor
put up clipboards after tying pencils to them
laundry
clean out the van
buy and chop onions
get more paper plates
dinner: ?
It is a glorious day-just picture perfect.
The plan tomorrow is an open house 12-4 with hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies, soda or water. People will be able to walk through and see the new facility and find out that DH and I own the repairs now, and that I'll actually be in the office (they never had a real office before and his mom did the books from her house). We're thinking people will want to schedule jobs too. DH and the DSs are cleaning up the yard right now and putting all the steel on the rack. Out hired man swept the whole floor earlier, and DS13 cleaned/organized the tools and stuff, so it looks really good in here. Now we just need to make some money!
Alright, enough procrastinating, I need to go sweep and paint.
Bye,
-Jo
It was really fun, but my almost-4yo got pretty worn out and whiny by the end. I wish my kids were as well behaved as all those Mennonite children I see out and about! LOL! (DH's joke with DS-almost-4 is: "You're no Mennonite!") I promise you, their children are so well behaved in the grocery store it puts me to shame. Although people have commented that mine are well behaved, I find them rather noisy and distracting at times. And that one in particular has a bad habit of whining I'm trying to break him of. He'll usually try to talk in a "normal voice" if I zero in on him.
Anyway, that was way off topic.
I have so much housework to do because I spent yesterday scattershot blogging and just hanging out. And I need to prepare my monthy attendance report for delivery first thing next week. And, I need to decide what to take to the church picnic tomorrow.
DH has taken to watching The Sopranos on DVD, so I stayed up way too late last night watching a few with him. Gee, makes you want to grow up and be a crime boss. Not. But, my real point is that I got three loads of laundry folded. Just two to go.
TADA
morning routine
read paper
DD to swim lessons
out to lunch with kids
free art program at local toy store
sorted mail
folded 1 load laundry
went to dinner with DH
ordered fireplace insert
bathed DD
My ear still hurts and I have only a couple days worth of antibiotic left so don't know if I will be making another trip to see the doctor...ugh...
Jo-hope Open House goes smoothly and that you all get some work out of it. Wilson Reading is the program my DSs elementary school uses as well. He is on level 4. It is such a long process to get through all the stages but worth it. Are you certified in Wilson?
Jenny-doing errands with DH is always more expensive for me!! But nice to have the company. Glad you got so much done.
Hi Everyone, can't remember all I wanted to say, surprise surprise....
Gonna go veg out now so see ya all in the morning.
Trying to relax on the weekend - my parents arrived yesterday so we are busy.
Heidi and Jo, some of our sped. teachers are Wilson Certified. I know a little about it, but would like to be trained so i could be more knowledgeable.
Went to the pumpkin patch today - FUN! Stokoefarms.com - very nice day.
I had a bad day. DFD4 (Precious) has had her back injury flair up again. So we are doing baby asprin and hot packs every 8 hours or so and keeping her confined. I've got her pin set up. It's 4 x 4 with her bed, a palet, her soft dog house, food and water. Her daddy just gave her a hot bath and now she is sleeping under her flannel sheet and Polar Bear quilt (that I made just for her when she was a baby). With a cover over the top. She looks like she is camping. Hoping this works as we have no money for the vet.
Went to a friends house and was sleeping on her couch. Woke up and her drunk husband was sitting on the end, with his hand in a very inapropriate place. Then wanted to rest his head on my large chest. I got my stuff and got out of there. Shook me up very badly as I am a surviver already.
So needless to say the skin is not shinned and the house is a wreck. May be tomorrow will be a better day.
Love,
Ilse
Ilse, oh my - here's to a better day for you today. HOpe your pooch will be fine.
Not sure what we'll do today - I may end up taking kiddos to after-hours, they've got a bad virus brewing? May go to church also and maybe take a walk.
Flying? I will most likely just maintain - empty dw, do one load of laundry, prepare for dinner. Also want to pull all the basil out of our garden and make a ton of pesto to freeze. Will be nice to pull out in the middle of January when it is cold and blowing outside.
Yesterday I managed to do a load of laundry, clean the kitchen (not that you can tell now) and made the kids pick up the living room and dining room (they couldn't have any pancakes til they did! I'm the mean evil mama!!). Also finished the binding on my wall hanging quilt and hung it up (can't find my other fall quilt to hang. Hmmm). Got all kids bathed after dinner. Chance needed it. When we are just at home, I put him in big boy skivvies and no clothes. He decided to play in the mud outside all day, so he was a mess! Then we popped everyone popcorn (2 bags of butterlovers for me and the kids, one of lowfat for DH), put the kids in our room to watch Halloweentown on Disney, and DH and I watched Goodfellas. LOL! Wasn't that bad a movie, I kinda like the whole mob/mafia thing! Still one movie left, but they are already overdue and I'm going to church this morning, so it may not get watched.
So, like I said, church this morning. DH has to haul a load with the semi, then cut hay, then go to a pickin', so I guess I'm on my own again today with the boy (I really don't like taking him to church).
PODA
1 load laundry
take DD to park
return books at library and get more books and videos
make big Sunday dinner as a treat
walk with dog
read with kids
watch Desp. Housewives
Ever see those acorn treats for little kids? It's a mini vanilla wafer attached to a hershey kiss with a dab of frosting. So the waker looks like the top of the acorn and the kiss is the body of it. Wanna make a bunch with Dd this week. If we refridgerate them they shouldn't melt and she can take some to preschool.
University choir rehearsal went fine and now I'm wiped out. I'm not going to do too much today, but I'll post later. I'm still reading along I promise.
Heidi, DH saw part of the E! True Hollywood story on Desperate Housewives and thinks he needs to start watching it. I tell him it's on ABC, it won't show any boobs, but he still wants to. LOL!
We are back from church, and I'm now on hold with customer service for our Satellite trying to figure out why I'm not getting my ball games today. ARG!! LOL! DH took Chance afterall this morning, so church was much more pleasent. Stopped by McDs on the way home, YUMMY! LOL! Not sure what else the day will bring...
I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I just watched the first disc of the first season of Desperate Housewives, episodes 1 -4 (rented through Netflix.) Holy c--p, I'm Bree!!!!! I've put the rest of the first season at the top of my Netflix rental queue. It's almost enough to make me reconsider my TV moratorium! Maybe my mom will tape the shows for me ...
We're enjoying some lovely weather here. Yesterday, my son and I went to the Altmar Hatchery to check out the running of the salmon. Then we went to Oswego to pick apples (1 bushel) then to North Syracuse for lunch and a Target run. Today, I finished the quilt, did a load of laundry, and did some grocery shopping. I am making a proper Sunday dinner - roast turkey breast, roasted red potatoes with fresh rosemary, salad, corn on the cob. That's something I've been rather slack about - when it's just me and the kiddo, kid-friendly foods tend to prevail.
Romper room hellos to everyone!
Rose
Well, Dd finally got to play with a little girl at the park, Poor kid, always stuck with boys but really doesn't seem to mind yet. Beautiful day here in the Midwest, went to library too and got dinner in the oven as I post here. Roast chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, etc. A Sunday dinner that we haven't had in a long while. Usually it's leftovers by Sunday night.
Rose-so you may be hooked huh??!! I do not watch day time soaps but am hooked on Desp Housewives,go figure.
Jenny- your hubby won't get any nudity but will still get glimpses here and there. HEHEHE. I know that men watch it even though they won't admit it.
Gonna take a walk with the dog in a minute and read with kids after dinner is done and cleaned up.
It is fun isn't it Rose? Guess what? I'm Bree too! Didn't surprise me when I took the quiz - I am kinda compulsive like her. Heidi, who are you?
Hope everyone had a nice day - I relaxed, went to church, gardened - back to work tomorrow. My parents are here now, so we will have some help -
Andrea
He's not punishing us. He's just blowing away summer and bringing in fall. Ok, that's what he did yesterday here when we had 40MPH winds. It went from 95 to present 60. Fall is now in the air here!
I have sure missed you girls! Believe it or not I am actually flying pretty good these past two weeks. I have written a bunch of posts inm my head and want to come here at night but I have been passing out by 9pm like every day. Waiting for my energy to kick back in

New week
Have a great day!
hello!
Anyhow, I'll post a TADA later.
Great Day!

Hi Becky!
Bye,
-Jo
Checking in
I am SO glad to hear you are okay, Ilse.
So, that's me for now. Off to blog!
Love,
Susannah
OMG
A whole day with chatterbox DD5! Every commercial for a toy "can you buy me that?" "huh?" "huh?". Didn't take this chick long to go from orphanage status to full-blown, spoiled American kid who wants everything that comes down the pike!! LOL!!
My TADAs since this morning:
* Finished laundry (last 1/2 load in dryer)
* Made phone calls for B & B - no luck yet!
* Chicken is cooking in crockpot
* Filled in October family calendar
* Called DH's cousin & left a message
* General straightening up
Well, I'd better run. DH gets off work any time, so he'll be home in 30-45 minutes. We need to go to the attorney's office to pick up settlement check from DD's fall on broken glass back in spring.
Talk to you gals later!
Vonnie
We Passed!!
:-)Finally.
-Jo
Hope the Karma keeps flowing
Hope the Karma keeps flowing Jo! And yes, I do remember you describing yourself as an earth mama previously, now I have a better visual. I was picturing you in a tie dyed shirt and overalls, so I guess I was kinda on!
Susannah, hope you and your DH can work things out - can't imagine you moving, but I guess it happens! We moved quite a lot before we settled in NY.
Vonnie, hate those commercials!
HI Becky -
I'm off - worked today of course and just relaxing now -
Andrea
All quiet on the home front
Susannah,
Yes was so good to sleep in AC last night.
Jo, yay on the inspector AND
Jo, yay on the inspector AND phone guy!!
Ilse, yay on the 22 acres!!
Will see ya'll in the morning!
Good Morning
Today is DH's birthday and, of course, our busiest day of the week.
TADA
I'm out of bed
PODA
dishes
laundry (DS13's soccer uniform)
bake DH's carrot cake
write an article/open house invite for the paper
homeschool
go to the "big city" with DD and DH
have birthday lunch with DH
buy him some new workboots for his
birthday
drop him off at the dentist
go to the butcher and get some steak
buy DD some new dance tights
pick up DH
take DD to dance
take DH home
take DD to soccer
pick up the DSs from soccer
make dinner
Whew!
Have a great day flyfriends!
-Jo
1000 cookies!!!
We meet every 2 weeks for HGP, someone brings lunch (yesterday was chicken salad, fruit, zucchini choc chip bread and caramel pie, YUM
) We will be doing candy centers next visit, then rubber stamping cards to give as gifts, and finally dipping spoons for gifts.
Laundry
Sew on patch for DS scout meeting tonight
finish unpacking
touch up bathrooms
return library books
pick up first floor
Caramel pie?
Mmmm!
Picture Day
Jo, DH was driving the tractor at about 9.
Have a great day!
Hello gulf-coasters
I am so glad everyone seems to have weathered the storms OK. My family in NOLA is still working on getting it together, and I just can't imagine how hard it is.
Gotta work this afternoon so I can go to appt with DH at 4 pm. Cleaning just enough to keep the sitter from calling social services!
Susan and Becky, it is good to see you checking in again!
Better go, just have 2 hours to rest, work, clean, and start dinner so we can eat as soon as we get back.
Shaun

Day Over
Other than the dead hamster (see blog) nothing much happened in it.
Later!

Survived Tuesday
The busiest day of the week. And DD5's soccer program is done for the year. Whew! That will help!

See Ya,
-Jo
Wednesday
Have a good day!
Well, Jo, it was just the two
Well, Jo, it was just the two of us today.
Well, better luck flying tomorrow! LOL!
Here, Just Unable to Post
Nothing computer-related, but DD-related. I came here several times today to post & as soon as I got it pulled up, here comes DD with a request...
I had a semi-productive day at work and at home. I'm trying to think about what I need to do to prepare for our trip this weekend and also do what I would normally do on the weekend for the next week. Whew!
Anyway, I need to go get DD in bed. I let her stay up later because they are out of school today, tomorrow & Friday for teacher retreat. OK, she's torturing the dog, so I'd better run.
Bye!
VOnnie
Goooood morning!!

I'm losing my mind
Gotta run, Savannah's awake.
jamie Lea
Cool weather in Kentucky :)

DH probably working late
that's it, time to go,
Susan
Hellos!

*Cleaned up dishes and counters

I'm back
My sciatica has decided I shouldn't do ANYTHING today (I can barely walk across the room, ugh!!).
Jo, YAY for being in your new office!!!
Quick quilting break
Rose
Rose
that's a tough one, please know that I think of you often.
JL
JAMIE LEA!!!!
LOL!)
DOH
You know after I posted that about the smoking I thought "maybe I should have kept that to myself?" you know, don't want to be judged to harshly or anything.....
But then I thought, oh heck everybody will just skim the post and miss the whole smoking thing.
NO chance of that happening NOW.

Good Evening! Been battlin
Good Evening!

Finally Home!

T Minus 22 Hours and Counting...
OK, better get back to work!
See ya!

Must run,
Love,
Ilse
*gasp* *wheeze*
School has been nuts, I have a marathon choir rehearsal today and tomorrow (for university concert choir), and DH has been sick with a stomach bug. I'm skipping Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur this year. I figure this choir rehearsal is my spiritual endurance test for the year. What a week.
But yesterday I had the day off and took the opportunity to do some laundry and change the sheets!
See you on the other side of the marathon choir rehearsal.
Broke Broke Broke

Later
-Jo
Jamielea!!

I've had a big day. I sure am tired.
Night Y'all,
Ilse
Give her a break!

Be back tomorrow!
Big Open House Tomorrow
I went and spent $350 at Costco on food for 200. Good thing my tutoring check came. I also got called yesterday for more tutoring. Six little guys who need some Wilson Reading work, next week to Decemebr 9th at $15 an hour/3.5 hrs. a day. Mom said she'd keep DD 2-3 days a week to help keep childcare costs down. I'll still be able to put in 4-5 hours a day here at the office and homeschool as well as pay for groceries and the van, so that is cool.
TADA
DH did the dishes-Bless him!

sweep bathroom thoroughly

Bye,
-Jo
Wishing you a great open house!
And more business than y'all can handle, Jo.
I'm so excited for you! And good news on more tutoring, too.
We spent the morning (and some o' the afternoon) at the Loch Hartwell Highland Games and Festival. Photoblogged on it here:
http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/SusannahCox/
Later!

Heidi
HI
Hi everyone -
Trying to relax on the weekend - my parents arrived yesterday so we are busy.
Heidi and Jo, some of our sped. teachers are Wilson Certified. I know a little about it, but would like to be trained so i could be more knowledgeable.
Went to the pumpkin patch today - FUN! Stokoefarms.com - very nice day.
I'm off to bed -
Andrea
Bad day
I had a bad day.
Love,
Ilse
morning
Ilse, oh my - here's to a better day for you today. HOpe your pooch will be fine.
Not sure what we'll do today - I may end up taking kiddos to after-hours, they've got a bad virus brewing? May go to church also and maybe take a walk.
Flying? I will most likely just maintain - empty dw, do one load of laundry, prepare for dinner. Also want to pull all the basil out of our garden and make a ton of pesto to freeze. Will be nice to pull out in the middle of January when it is cold and blowing outside.
Andrea

DH has to haul a load with the semi, then cut hay, then go to a pickin', so I guess I'm on my own again today with the boy (I really don't like taking him to church).
cya'll later!

Ever see those acorn treats for little kids? It's a mini vanilla wafer attached to a hershey kiss with a dab of frosting. So the waker looks like the top of the acorn and the kiss is the body of it. Wanna make a bunch with Dd this week. If we refridgerate them they shouldn't melt and she can take some to preschool.
gotta run
Heidi
hi all!
University choir rehearsal went fine and now I'm wiped out. I'm not going to do too much today, but I'll post later. I'm still reading along I promise.
Desperate
Heidi, DH saw part of the E! True Hollywood story on Desperate Housewives and thinks he needs to start watching it. I tell him it's on ABC, it won't show any boobs, but he still wants to. LOL!
We are back from church, and I'm now on hold with customer service for our Satellite trying to figure out why I'm not getting my ball games today. ARG!! LOL! DH took Chance afterall this morning, so church was much more pleasent. Stopped by McDs on the way home, YUMMY! LOL! Not sure what else the day will bring...
I have succumbed ..
We're enjoying some lovely weather here. Yesterday, my son and I went to the Altmar Hatchery to check out the running of the salmon. Then we went to Oswego to pick apples (1 bushel) then to North Syracuse for lunch and a Target run.
Romper room hellos to everyone!

Good Afternoon!
Have a pleasant evening
Heidi
Hi
It is fun isn't it Rose? Guess what? I'm Bree too! Didn't surprise me when I took the quiz - I am kinda compulsive like her. Heidi, who are you?
Hope everyone had a nice day - I relaxed, went to church, gardened - back to work tomorrow. My parents are here now, so we will have some help -

Commercials
THAT, Vonnie, is why I keep the TV on either PBSkids or Disney (NOT ToonDisney). NO COMMERCIALS!!! HAHAHA!!!!
For your son
He's not punishing us. He's just blowing away summer and bringing in fall. Ok, that's what he did yesterday here when we had 40MPH winds. It went from 95 to present 60. Fall is now in the air here!
