Bowlathon

That was the idea that struck me sometime around 2am this morning. I went to bed with a heavy heart thinking of my neighbors to the east who have lost SO much. I admit to possibly having a touch of OCD, seriously. I can get so sucked into things, to the point of feeling completely helpless and then obsessing over it almost to the point of insanity. (Well maybe not quite that far
but you get the point) Well around 2am I decided that if I didn't come up with a plan to do something that I'd never be able to fall asleep and that's when it hit me....
Bowlathon! So by 2pm this afternoon the bowling center was booked for October 3rd, I started working on flyers, and Trey had already started working on getting friends and family to sponsor him. (Already $151.00 if he bowls all 3 games) I've talked to or gotten email from 8 other Homeschooling families that are ready to participate and the announcement/fliers haven't even made it out yet. The bowling center manager where our group bowls weekly and where the bowlathon will take place has promised that all the bowling fee's for that day will be donated back to the group to help us raise money for those people in AL, MISS, LA who have lost everything. I hope I sleep better tonight, now that I have "a plan" but my thoughts and prayers will still be for my neighbors to the east who have lost so much.

Can't help myself
I had to post again. The email/announcement went out to our homeschool e-loop this morning and I've seen it forwarded on to at least 2 other e-loops by people who are active members of several groups. I belong to about every group in SA but only post regularly to one so I didn't feel comfortable posting to those groups. I'm so excited that it's making it's way threw the HS community. Trey is up to $157.00 in sponsorships; I feel good doing something and haven't felt the "need" to watch the news all day long.
That sounds great, Jamie Lea!

25 kids and counting
We're up to 25 kids and counting that will participate in the bowl-a-thon. Trey's up to $271.00 in pledges, most of which are already collected.
San Antonio is host to over 12,000 hurricane victums, their needs are being met here and that makes me proud. I feel like San Antonio has really stepped it up along with so many other cities around the US.
In addition to the bowl-a-thon our home school group is also collecting personal hygiene products, toys, diapers, and the like to take to Kelly USA next week. This is the most horrific thing that’s happened in the US in my lifetime, the only way for me to get up and move everyday is to feel like I’m doing something to help. I’m scared if I stop long enough to think about things and how bad they are, well I know me and I know I just can’t let myself think on it very much. This way I feel like I'm helping and i'm teaching my son to help.
