Where is everyone?

Only 50 comments all week last week. Half as usual. Come on folks, I'm feeling lonely here!!

The fridge was a major declutter. My MIL and I cleaned out the old one and almost everything just went into the trash. Clean sweep!

We also worked on the garage yesterday. We dumped a whole trailer load of trash that was mostly just boxes. The garage looks ALOT better now. Also found stuff for the cheerleaders' garage sale. Want to find more today.

I'm going to try to get back into my zones. Kitchen week this week. Don't have to worry about the fridge. LOL! Also going to work on some desk stuff today. Nine days til school starts. Bittersweet. Hate to see them go, but glad, too. They love school so much.

I'm here

Savannah had her 1 year check up today so I’m getting a late start. Could prove to be a VERY late start! I may take a nap as soon as the AC guy comes and leaves. Smiling

Jenny, I've started cleaning a fridge shelf every other day, now it's always clean without the marathon cleaning that I used to do.
Way to go in the garage!

TADA
*morning routine done
*Savannah's 1 year check up (she's doing great Smiling )

PODA

Here but lazy ...

Well, I've done some basic flying but not much more. DH has today off so we're just hanging out today. I did strip the beds, and there's a load of laundry hanging out to dry. So that's something. Oh, and I took a nap with two toy dachshunds pinning me down. Does that count?
Cleaning the fridge shelves sounds like a good idea.
Hope everyone has a great week.

Yesterday we went to our county fair and it was so much fun. DS13 was driving my FIL's antique tractor in the tractor pulls, and some friends had their animals in the 4-H shows. It was also DD's first fair. I got some great pics of her on the rides and tasting cotton candy for the first time. DH also did some great networking and we are now booked up through October at the shop!

Jenny, I think I have DH talked into putting our old fridge in the break room at the shop and getting a new one for home. I will measure carefully before I go shopping though, thanks to you and Jackie!

DD's room is the cleanest room in the house right now. I need to marshall the troops, as it's been 6 weeks since we did a whole-family deep clean. We need it. Now, how do I get everyone in the house at the same time? Laughing out loud

See Ya Later,

go to concert with friend

DH is taking kids out to eat while I go to a Neil Diamond concert tonight. He's not exactly my favorite but the tickets were given to us and it includes food and drinks prior to the concert and I get a night out with a friend.

DS has a friend over today and DH will run her home after he takes them to eat tonight. Boy,he's being so good, lucky me!

The museum was kinda disappointing,Jo. The Maurice Sendak exhibit was lame and all the historical costumes were in storage since they must be doing some kind of reno there. The old cars were pretty neat but other than that,I'm glad it was free!!

Jenny-great that you got your fridge situation fixed so quickly, don't forget to take off the fridge doors so that the kids don't close themselves in there by accident. Can be dangerous.

Jamielea-glad svannah's check up went well,can't believe she's 1.

Jo-I hate doing financial and paperwork stuff, bet you feel good to have that out of the way.

Well,better run.

Heidi

jennye's picture

Well, SOME of you are here!!

LOL!

I decluttered like a fool today:
*4 or 5 boxes of STUFF. Kitchen stuff, clothes, purses. Couple were full of stuff that SIL didn't want then passed on to MIL, who then passed to me what she didn't want.
*the clorox ready mop. Hated that thing
*a couple more boxes of boxes (like clothes gift boxes).
*this isn't out of the house yet, but I getting rid of 2 big boxes of jeans that are too holey. I mean, the crotched is plumb worn out and can't ever be fixed. 38 pairs. I have been saving them to make a denim quilt for DH for hunting, but said screw it. I was going to throw them out, but DH had a fit, so they are just going in the bunkhouse.

The rest of the stuff is for the cheerleaders.

Heidi, we are going to try cleaning out the bottom of that fridge good and see if that doesn't fix it. If not, it will go into DH's shop to store stuff, like poisons and stuff like that. So the doors will stay on. But don't worry, I don't think Chance can sneak away for that long without us finding out! LOL! That child is just a tazmanian devil, if it's too quiet for long, I worry then. LOL!

Had a craving for pancakes and Gram's buttermilk biscuits for dinner. DH ate at the School board meeting tonight. Probably won't be home til 11 or so. The meeting doesn't last that long, just all the BSing afterwards.

Not too busy of a day here, that's always welcome. The concert was pretty good, recognized more songs than I thought I would.

Jenny-your idea for the broken fridge reminded me of a decorating show I saw once where the woman used her old frige as a stereo cabinet/bookcase. It was quirky and looked pretty neat.

Better get on with it,have a pleasant day everyone

Heidi

Heidi, I would probably recog

Heidi, I would probably recognize more songs that I care to admit! LOL! My mom was always into the soft pop or whatever you call it. Bleh! I went more the heavy metal/big hair/country route. LOL! All that she is not. But glad you enjoyed the show.

Not sure what the day is going to have in store. DH was having some pickup problems, I may have to run to town and help him out there. So, basically I'm on call for the day. I was hoping to run to the grocery store, I still may get to. Will see.

Crawling Back onto the Face of the Earth

Did you miss me????

It's been a hectic few weeks here. Trying to get some post-adoption paperwork done (the recent events surrounding children adopted from Russia has set off an "investigation" of sorts), then we had company for four days last week/weekend. Work is, as usual, hectic as well. And put on top of all of that getting DD5 ready for K-5! She starts Monday, 8/15 and she is SOOOOO excited.

I'm still trying to fly. I'll get back on here hot & heavy after we get into our school routine next week.

I am going to try to read through the posts I've missed, but romper room hellos to everyone! I've missed you all so much!

Love ya,

Vonnie

Hi, my friends!

Poppin' in, almost ready to fly again! School starts 17th of Aug...see ya then

The trouble with bucket seats is that not everybody has the same size bucket~Maxine

silverbear's picture

Vonnie! Anne!

Great to "see" you.
Vonnie, sorry that you have to jump through more hoops in regards to your daughter's adoption - like you haven't done enough already. I know of only one "situation" regarding Russian adoptees that would merit an investigation. I hope that whatever has triggered this paperwork is minimally invasive to your lives.
Jo, thank you for your kind words. Steve will fly out on Friday. The troop transports began today, and the planes fly right over my house. I must confess, I had a bit of a breakdown/hyperventilating blubbering moment when I was hanging out the laundry and the first plane flew over. We'll be fine, but my heart really goes out to the young wives who are new to army life and facing their first deployments.
Jenny, HOORAY to you for all the decluttering. What are you going to do when it's time to nest? Eye-wink I think you'll have fun at Disneyworld.
Romper room hellos to everyone!

Hi Flyfriends!!

How are you girls?? Alexa finally cut her back molars so its been a bit crazy around here with no sleep or napping. So that means no flying!! But Dh is home today so hopefully I will get something done.

Vonnie, good to see you. Im sorry you have to go through that with your DD. I cant believe she starts kindergarten in 5 days!! How exciting!

Jenny you are killing me with all your flying lately!! you go girl! And pregnant on top of it??? send some energy over here Smiling I had a craving for pancakes yesterday to- I had Ihop pancakes with strawberries- actually I had the whole Rooty tooty thing- YUM Smiling

Quick waves to everyone. Alexa is quietly drinking her bottle. I have no idea how I will ever get her to stop taking it. She finally loves it!! Crazy doc told me to stop at 1 year. I have an appontment on 8/31 and I think I will just say shes off it Smiling Its really her only source of comfort.

Quick poda and tada from yesterday:

Jackie-I enjoyed watching the 1st yr movie on my computer, too cute.

We are going to an exotic animal safari/zoo on friday with a small group of moms. Should be fun especially since the weather should break today, been sooo humid.

Wanna weed and mow but has been too miserable out so will do that tomorrow as my PODA.

Kids swam at neighbor's yesterday and they will be taking their pool down soon, closing it up before school starts.

DS is all set with school supplies, shoes, and couple new outfits, just waiting for teacher assignment and bus schedule to arrive in the mail any day now...school opens the 23rd.

DD will be in preschool again this year but will go in the afternoons instead of the mornings. That's the way they they do it and I hate the idea of afternoons but that's how it is. At least she doesn't nap or that would be a real killer.

Better run...

Heidi

jennye's picture

Passports? Jo, are you going

Passports? Jo, are you going somewhere? What did I miss?

Heidi, I can't wait for Chance to start preschool!! Probably will get to next year. It's all day at our school, includes nap time. The 8th graders sorta each "adopt" a kid and does things with them throughout the year. But I agree with you that mornings would be easier than afternoons.

Well, I'm not sure what the day will hold, again. DH is afoot with his truck in the shop, I think I may take him to his semi truck at the dryland so he can play truck today and haul hay. But I'm on call, whatever the day does. Need to get up to the school and get some news, since I can start doing the school news column again. That's about all from here.

Good Evening!

It looks like you and me Jenny....

Well got my PODA done so that is an accomplishment considering I had a wicked headache. I called the exotic zoo for directions and the woman told me it is permanently closed down! Thank goodness I called instead of winging it or I would have had a car of unhappy kids and a long drive for nothing....oh well.

DD and I took the dog for a walk after dinner and everyone that owns a dog was out walking so it took forever because the dogs all had to stop and sniff each other.

Well gonna get DD ready for bed and go read my book, see ya in the morning.

TADA

*cleaned the oven good (that second session of Easy-Off did the trick!)
*cleaned all the drip pans and the stove top. Even the eye covers
*bleached down all the counter tops (hmmm, they are still that ugly yellow and brown laminate. Ugh. Bleach won't turn them white, unfortunately)
*cleaned the microwave inside and out
*wiped down the outside of the oven and dishwasher
*Put magnants back on fridge
*washed some of the knick knacks.
*found tons of legos on the counters, all put away.
in fact, the only things on the counters are things that belong there
*put in a refill for my oil plug in thingy. Apples and cinnamon, my favorite!
*Even the snack bar is CLEAN!!! Nothing on it except a long Longaberger basket. I need to clean it out, it's become a catch-all. Want to put fruit in it.
bleached my sink. didn't get it all clean, but it's better
mopped the floor a little. Well, I spilled my grease cup on the floor (after I microwaved it so I could dump it outside). Made an icky slippery mess. Had to wipe it all up, then get out the mop. Didn't feel like doing the whole floor though. I would like to do the rest later this week then maybe wax the floor.

I rested for a bit, then DH came home, I ran up to the school for news for my school news column in the paper that will be starting again now that school is almost back. Then ended up having to take DH back to town to pick up his truck (and slap down $700 for it). Decided I didn't need to cook dinner after all that and got Domino's.

Now watching an older (1991 or 92) episode of Saturday Night Live. You know, back when it was funny and made sense. LOL!

Good Morning flyfriends!!

How are you girls?? Its been quiet around here- i hope everyone is having lots of fun! We had a nice night last night- decided to be spontaneous and jumped in the truck and took a ride to the beach. Alexa had a ball. she was ok with the water on vacation but last night she had no fear whatsoever! She was jumping and splashing in the waves. She loved putting her face in the water to taste the salt Smiling Was fun and relaxing.

Jo, your cruise sounds like so much fun. Dh and I took a cruise once- you will love it! We ate all day long. Was lots of fun too! We went to Cozumel, some private island in the Bahamas and the Keys. South America sounds great!

Heidi, thats funny with all the dogs sniffing each other! We have been seeing so many dogs on our walks too- Alexa has to stop and bark at them all!!

Waves to everyone else Smiling
Not much planned today. It is going to be a million degrees out so I think we will just play in the baby pool.
So A quick poda:

Thursday

Yesterday was the kitchen, today it's the....desk!!! Ugh, it's horrible. Stuff under it, stuff on it. The bills. The filing. Also have some desk work to do. Write my school news (and call to confirm the time of a football game that the secretary wasn't sure about). I also want to write a memo or something to put in all the teachers' boxes to let them know if they have NEWS about their class or something to please bring to the secretary for me. With a baby and Chance in tow, I just won't have time to chase them all down.

What else. Want to clean up the garage sale stuff, will take that to town tonight. Yes, gotta go back to town today. DH wants to try a Weight Watchers meeting. MIL wants ALL the kids to spend the night (Chance never has, time to get him accustomed to it for my hospital stay in 3 months). So will drop off kids, get her garage sale stuff, off to town for meeting, drop off stuff. Then DH and will will have a childless night. Sheesh, what will we do with ourselves (no, not that. We have discovered that it's too uncomfortable with all my belly. LOL! TMI!!!!). We will probably just go to Subway and home.

Ya'll have a good one, where ever you are... (hi Heidi and Jackie!!)

Good Morning!

I got a call from our loan officer yesterday at 5:00pm who said the loan went through (yippee!) but that they need every invoice/receipt we have paid on the building so far. And they want it this morning. Gack! I have a file of all of them DH has given me, but he has many of them including the big $70,000 one. He went down and cleaned out all of his hidey holes and brought back a 5 gallon pail full of invoices, receipts, business cards, building permits....I have been sorting through them to try and find what I need. He owes me big. I think he also learned a lesson about passing things on to me right when he gets them. I hope so anyway.

Poking My Head Back In

It's been a slow-starting Thursday for us. This is our last stay-at-home day before school starts on Monday. DD slept 12 hours last night, so she should feel good. I was up & down all night and didn't get up for good until 7:45 -- way late for me! I felt like a slug.

I have a few TADAs so far:

* Showered, made up & dressed to shoes
* Ran dishwasher
* Stripped both beds, laundered sheets & made beds back up w/freshly done sheets
* Washed, dried & put away light color clothes
* Went through grocery sales papers and coupons and made grocery list
* Worked on cite words and recognizing numbers above 10 w/DD (they are putting her in the more advanced class of the two at K-5 and I don't want her to be behind too much)

My PODA:

* Call MIL to confirm that they are keeping DD tonight
* Take memory stick to Walgreens to get photo CD and prints while they're on sale
* Make a podiatrist appt. for me
* Unload dishwasher
* Finish laundry - load of towels are drying & that's all
* Open House and Parent Orientation at 6 p.m. tonight

DH got his shift schedule for the next few months. They aren't going back to day vs. night for another 6 weeks. They will stagger their shifts instead. It sucks because one two-week shift will be 10:15 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. At least maybe he can see DD before school on those days.

Well, I need to scoot. I may need to add a trip to the produce store today as well. I'd like some peas, green beans & tomatoes.

Y'all have a great day!

Hi Vonnie, whatever happened to your story submissions? Can't believe your DD is starting K already, wow. Is it half days or full days? It's full days here.

Got a call from an old friend today, haven't talked in a loong time, was so nice to connect with her. She lives in the DC area and said to visit anytime. May take her up on that come spring.

DH is working late,as usual,DD is watching a video before bed and DS is playing next door...peace....

Wanna take a hot shower and lotion up and pamper and such after awhile.

See ya all in the morning.

tired the last couple of days

Hi all, I have been tired and not feeling so well so haven't been up to posting much. Things are going okay though. DH is happy to be home from Scotland and he and I and my mother have been doing chores and errands.

jennye's picture

Another fairly productive day

Another fairly productive day yesterday. I found the top of my desk (whoohoo!!) AND the kitchen stayed clean. I even found the BOTTOM of the desk, I now have a place to put my feet!! Ended up with a truckful of stuff for the garage sale. Got to inlaws and filled up the back seat of the truck as well with her stuff. Cool!! We dropped it off at one of the cheerleader's house (well, her parents house. They live in town), and they seemed very grateful. So that feels good. Smiling

DH and I went to the WW meeting. about 15 there, including an aunt and 2 of the teachers from school (One lives about 7 miles away, she and her hubby come by on their 4-wheelers sometimes. Was DD6's Kindergarten teacher, nice older couple). So in good company. Since we had NO kids (wow!!), DH took me out to eat at Cattle Baron, where I stuffed myself on shrimp, scallops, catfish, a loaded baked potato, salad bar, and topped it off with a big slab of Mud Pie (DH had steak with green chiles, steamed veggees, and salad). Then we rented some movies that don't have to go back til Tuesday. Watched part of one last night, but I was tired and went on to bed.

I'm still childless, but I don't know if I want to play or work. I'll decide later.

I love being pregnant though and since this may be the last time I dont mind. And I am stuffing my face like a big pig. Hopefully I will have as much energy as you do later on in my pregnancy!

So honestly not much flying here. Heres my tada:

Jo, I think I will start getting my menu ideas from you. My mind is stalled for dinners and yours sound so great. We eat very much alike. Tonite we had grilled steaks, french fries, mixed green salad, and peas. Yum.

I am mostly recovered from the trip, except for doing some more gardening. Also, I have to pick up our mail tomorrow and deal with bills, etc.

Catch you tomorrow - sleep well everyone.

Hi girls!!

Becky, I will be thinking of you and praying for you today. I hope everything goes ok and you are able to be home soon with your dh. ((((Becky))))

We dont have much planned for today. Dh is playing golf on a smaller course today so he should be home in like 2 hours. He is on vacation this week so is nice to have him here. I have work later 4pm to 9pm. I hope I can stay awake that late tonight Smiling

Had a nice weekend- we went to a 30th bday party on Sat for my Dbil. Was fun. I went to a shower yesterday- was nice to sit in a chair and not jump up to chase crazy girl. I actually ate my meal and I dont think I used any baby talk for 3 hours at least. Was nice but I sure missed Alexa Smiling

Quick waves to everyone- where the heck are you guys??? Are you all getting your big ones settled in school?

Poda and tada:
~vacuumed
~ate a healthy breakfast
~walk about 2 miles if I get some energy
~work 4pm to 9pm
~loaded dishwasher
~put away laundry
~dr appointment tomorrow at 1145am.
Thats about it. Miss you girls, Love Jackie

Yup.

There is a big group of our friends and family going on a cruise in February out of Puerto Rico that goes as far sounth as northern South America. We are hoping to join them, and have made a deposit, but have until mid-Decemebr to decide for sure. We got the passports as a safety measure and also because we are so close to Canada (9 miles away)and by December 2007 we will need them to drive across the border. Since the state department came to the American Leigon in town, we figured, why not?
