Arthritis

It's working for me

At the advice of my physical therapist who is also an ND, I've begun following this precription for fighting arthritis, and it's working. DD has JRA and I have tendonitis all over my body with interesting clinical names: carpel tunnel, ulnar tunnel, and plantar fascitis. And for those that don't know -itis at the end of something is an arthritic inflammation condition.

As a type "O" wheat is a big cause of inflammatory issues for my family (DH, DD, and I are all "O"). A little over six weeks ago I made a change--I didn't follow the diet, I only eliminated wheat from my diet which is one of the main recommendations of Dr. D'Adamo. After four weeks of wheat free eating I felt better than I have in YEARS. I felt like a "mental fog" had lifted from my brain, I had more mental and physical energy, and my muscles didn't ache all over all the time.

I was sufficiently impressed with this to go all out and follow the rest of the Arthritis prescription. After only three days of eliminating all the foods that cause or acerbate inflammation in type "O"s (and eating lots more of the foods that are anti-inflammatory for us), I discovered that I feel even better. I can't believe the difference. I feel better in almost every way. I sleep better, my moods are better, the "mental mush" that I've been living with for years (that I thought was just aging) is dropping away, I have more stamina (which for me is HUGE), and, bottom line, it's improving the condition of my "-itises".

I cheated one weekend and ate a bunch of the stuff on the "avoid" lists. By Monday I was miserable. My brain fog was back, I ached all over, and my legs and feet were a mess. It was a very telling thing. It tooks two days of being back on the arthritis food type diet before I started to feel good again. I am convinced that this works.

There is some controversy around the Blood Type Diet, and I wouldn't have done it except my -itises and DD's JRA were so bad I was willing to try anything. Lynn, for instance, is a sceptic of the diet. But my experience is, it's working.
