The Worst Thing Ever.....

Submitted by lgunnoe on Wed, 07/13/2005 - 7:25am.

I had to take a 15 year-old-girl shopping Monday evening for something to wear to her mother's funeral. (My DD-almost-15's best friend.)

It was a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day.

...and to use a phrase that is banned from our home, that I never use.....

This sucks.

Ugh. Yeah, that does suck. Prayers to DD's friend, and yourself (because you must be close to her to do this with her).

The kind of thing you hope you never have to do. But it's a blessing that she had you to do it with, Lenora.

That must have been horrible, but how wonderful that you were there for the young girl. She will probably remember you forever as someone who was there for her at a really akward time when she was feeling so alone. What a big heart you have!!!!

You bless so many people with your kindness. I'm just so sorry for all of you; this must be very distressing for your DDs as well. I will definitely pray for your family and your DD's friend's family.

some people might have been tempted to say no rather than do something so heartrending... I'm glad you were there for her, and I hope she and her sister manage to cope with the next few days and weeks. Glad they have such good friends.

Kerri.

Been there--done that.

I won't dwell on the details, but I hope that DDs friend has a good and thoughtful Dad who will think about the needs of his kids first right now.

My friend who passed away, leaving 2 sons and a 14yo daughter was not fortunate in that respect. The husband kind of went off the deep end in a selfish behavior binge, leaving his DD home alone and ignored A LOT. Part of it was understandable, because his wife had such a very long illness and he'd been carrying a huge load for YEARS. It was no excuse, though. Those of us around them could only do so much. She really needed her dad.

I'll be praying for your young friend and her family.
