This list is so cool! Although my DS is almost 14, I think we'll do our own list. Things to do before he's 16, maybe. Fun!

Marvelous!

What a perfect way to celebrate childhood and summer vacations! Here are the things I did as a child that weren't on the list that I consider indispensible:

swing on an old fashioned tire swing

make a wigwam out of cane poles and blankets

pick fresh fruit from tree, bush, or vine

learn to swim

collect driftwood, either from the beach or from creeks and rivers

and though I did not crab in pools, we did hunt crawdads (crayfish) in the creek.

ok, I haven't read the list yet, but based on Anhata's additions this really does sound ideal for us, assuming there's any summer left by the time we move into our new home. At the moment it's all very up in the air and we have the sense of waiting for that really.

we already did strawberry picking - was that on the list anywhere?? I see Anhata had that. I had hoped that learning to swim and belated bike riding would be on the agenda this summer, but maybe we've gone as far as we're going to with those for now. DD is 9 next month... I'm wondering whether I can arrange an overnight camp in the garden for her birthday since she's never done that and has mentioned she'd like to camp. I'm with Lynn on camping - all mod-cons and you might persuade me too, but if I gotta lie on the ground you can count me out!

gonna go read the rest of the list now! Smiling

Kerri.
