Flybabies June 6

Hey ladies, we're home with my sick DD6 -- nothin' like a sick kid to derail your plans for the day! No playground, no Target, no coffeeshop. Wah!
On the plus side the house is looking good and the weather is terrific.
Hope everyone has a great day -- looking forward to hearing about a new niece or nephew, Jenny!

Have a good day.

I was nicer to the dog than the kids today! Sums the day up
pritttyyy darn well! The dog is soooo much QUIETer!!!
The endless chatter of DS4 is getting on my NERVES!!!! I know, I know, I keep replaying a commercial on TV that says "Couldn't get them to quit talking at 4, can't get them to start talking at 16" something about how to talk to your teenagers. Well, we have to make it to 16 and if he continues he will have used up all the air and words in the universe!
Breeeeaaaaatttthhhheeeeeeeee!
Okay, now that I have that off my chest.
Nothing was done today but research on the computer and reading cookbooks. DS7 is very tired and in bed and I am not far behind him. BUT we must get CHATTER BOX quiet.............calgon take me away.
Oh DH just walked in......calgon is calling! He is a sweetie and just trying to save his head since I am on edge!
Kiss those hubbies and kids girls, gotta love em!
Jana
Just sounded like
something I could empathise with. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's my head I want to rip off or DS'.
Isn't summer s'posed to be relaxing - how come everyone seems overworked, on edge, losing their marbles??
Kerri.
Out of routine?
I know what you mean. Sometimes being out of your usual routine can be a sort of let-down.
I haven't been around much because this was a weekend of running around, and DH is off work for the summer (maybe longer if contract doesn't come through, ha) and has been on his message boards a lot. And when he's not on the computer, DS5 wants to "play ABC's" at starfall.com.
Saturday, Anna Kate had a birthday party to attend. We spent the morning going to Athens for the gift as there are no decent bookstores in this area. We stopped at a couple of yard sales on the way, and I wound up getting DH a catfish rod for $8. Then I picked up a friend, dropped off Anna Kate for the party, and the friend spent the night (she was doing laundry at our house). We stayed up late watching a movie. Love Comes Softly? It was sweet. Little-House-On-The-Prairie-ish.
I did not go to church on Sunday morning, though I had planned to take my friend (her car is broken down). DH had a migraine, so I hung around thinking he might have to go to the walk-in clinic when it opened (he didn't). But I did go Sunday night to the parenting class. It was really good.
Yesterday we went to our friends' house to play. I wonder if she had forgotten about it, though. She didn't say anything, but she didn't seem prepared for us to be there! I felt bad. We did talk about it last week, but I probably should have called to confirm first. We had a good talk anyway.
DH has been cleaning out the garage in between headaches. He's made a lot of progress. We are probably going to give away our chest freezer, since I haven't been able to use it for the last two years (junk piled on top of it) and it takes up a lot of space in the storage room, and uses electricty.
Today I have to get to the grocery store at some point, which means I should plan a rudimentary menu.
PODA:
*Plan menu
*Grocery shop
*Catch up laundry
*Scratch up areas where we want to overseed in front
*Kilz living room and foyer walls
I found some colors I might like to use downstairs in the living room and foyer. A light coral for LR and even lighter shade for the foyer and maybe the Woolie(tm) effect combining the colors on one accent wall.
We watched the Incredibles last night. I was quite annoyed because, although it was amazingly well-done and would have been enjoyable had I been watching it with DH, it should NOT have been rated G! I felt it was not appropriate for the littles; too much blowing up of people, throwing people through walls, people getting sucked into jet engines, scary robots, flame-throwing at babies, etc. The humor and cultural references go right over the littles' heads; to them it's just pure violence. I let my 3yo watch it because it was rated G! I saw it through because I wanted my littles to see it had a happy ending. Well, of course, it ends with another bad guy showing up and no visible resolution to that. What are the ratings people thinking?? Sheesh! It's foolish of me to trust Hollywood's rating system, I guess. No more!
I am also feeling annoyed at the bickering of my children. I need to get off the computer and go pray for discernment or something! They bicker over stupid little things, like cheap toys. It wouldn't matter if I went back to Wal-Mart and bought another dozen 48-cent packs of stretchy lizards...they would STILL find some way to fight over them! We could be drowning in stretchy lizards and they would still quarrel. We have more than five dozen dinosaurs in this house--I kid you not, we have counted them--and they fight over dinosaurs continually. AAARRRRGH!! Guess I've got the same syndrom as Kerri.
Today is Tuesday, right? Okay, so Thursday I watch my friend's little boy. Thursday night we are dialing into an Elijah Co. conference call on stock market investing. Friday is the end-of-school party for our homeschool group...swimming and picnic at the lake. We history co-opers are having our planning meeting during the picnic.
Auugggh! The fussing. I have to leave. Later!
Susannah
Well, disregard my rant
The Incredibles is PG! I thought sure it said G, even before the movie came on. Shame on me!
Still Alive
Just not flying and in total CHAOS!
It's the last week of school for me and two of the kidlets, DS14 will have final exams into next week.
The final parts for the building are being delivered today, it should really, finally be done two weeks from now, which is exactly when we are supposed to be camping. Typical, eh?

Good morning!
Well, little Gracie made it into the world ok! About 9am yesterday. We left here at 5:30 to make it down there in time. Ugh! LOL! But I got to hold her pretty soon after, actually, before her mommy got to. They had to knock her (mom) out completely, poor thing. She was quite funny to watch as she was coming around. "Everyone has 6 eyes!!!". LOL! But in a few hours she was her usual self. Gracie was 9lb 8oz. And she wasn't even due for 11 more days!! WOW! That was bigger than my SIL's first baby that she had all the problems with. So I have a niece to spoil now. And I started by buying her very first Old Navy Flag tee! LOL!
My house looks like a tornado hit it! UGH! So, me and the kids will be working on it today. Despite their protests. I'll have to help DH move the loader around and deliver some hay a few miles away. Then we have a ball game tonight on the other side of the county, nearly an hour away. whoohoo.
Have a great day, everyone!!

Walked DS7 to art class. Ladies we are talking 7 blocks AT THE MOST and you would have thought I was making him cross the Sahara desert with no water and chance to rest! GEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
DS4 has actually been a wonder today. Still talking NON-STOP but in a good mood.
Well, DS7 just got sent to his room. If is isn't one it is another. We just ate lunch. We made pizza. He had about 4 pieces, a kiwi fruit to himself and a full glass of water. He just came in and said he was STAVING. I told him he just got done eating so he would have to wait. Again, acted like he hadn't eaten in dddaaayyyysssss!
Enough!

Sniffly, sleepy, sluggy
Whoo, the minor illnesses flying around the house. DD6 shaped up and went to school for the afternoon, but then DD2 was up most of the night crying, seemingly with bad gas. Now I have serious sneezies, like a horrid allergen is making camp right in my nose, so that my eyes are always watering and my nose is always itching.
Wah wah wah, eh?
Working working today, but then off for a few weeks! Will do some big decluttering, I hope.
Heard that my cabinets, which should have been here about 4 weeks ago, will almost definitely, guaranteed probably, maybe surely be here in a week! I hope so, because I am sooooo tired of the chaos of having everything in boxes still.
Susannah, hope your little ones are OK! DH took DD then-5 to Incredibles against my wishes, and it scared her to death! They had to leave in the middle. We own it now, and she's watched parts of it. She loves it, but if we watch as a family she goes to play in the other room for large chunks of it. I recall at the time saying, Hello, it's PG! It's not for 5-year-olds, let's at least see it first . . . but DH is a man of action!
I love it too -- great movie.
OK better get some stuff done -- I'm just so sweaty, sniffly, and sleepy that I really don't wanna! Waaahhh!
Heidi - wonderful advice!
Friday when we went to the beach it really was a good day!
I think I may plan a water day tomorrow!
Library for 3 hrs. It was good, came home with loads of books and one on tape for the car.
I may try to talk DH into dinner out tonight! I am feeling mexican and not in the mood to cook.
Jana
scary movies
I'm a bad mom. I've let my kids watch movies I probably shouldn't. Among their favorites are The Mummy (they LOVE the bugs that eat you from the inside out!!) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Their favorite part of the latter: The dinner. You know, chilled monkey brains, snake surprise, eyeball soup. Yep, they love that stuff. Always have. Which is why the Incredibles didn't scare them at all. We watch Spiderman the other night, and I think that new Star Wars was PG-13. Well, I was with them. Wasn't any bad words, and really no blood (except for a cut Anakin had). I guess Lightsabers and laserguns sorta seal the wound and keep it from bleeding. LOL!
I got DH to get me a present today. He was in town, so got him to swing by Sears and pick up a steam cleaner for the carpets. It's a Kenmore, so hopefully it's good. Has an upholstery attachment. Anyway, I'll play with that tomorrow. No time tonight.
I did get Chance's room clean. I mean, under the bed, comb thru the toybox and laundry baskets where I keep the toys kinda clean. Everything that I found is now organized, except for all the misc. crap I just throw back in the toybox. I even moved the changing table and got all behind and under that. Oh, and I turned the sofas over in the living room and cleaned all under them, AND went sofa diving with the vacuum hose, got all sorts of popcorn and stuff. LOL! CLEAN!
Game tonight. DH is staying here with 2 kids. DD8 and I may stop by Sonic for dinner. I have a sudden craving, but not sure for which yet: Bacon Cheeseburger or Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich. hmmm. Either way, I'll get the 44 oz cherry coke and large onion rings. Hows that sound?
Oh, heidi, to answer your question. I offered my baby girl things, but so far she doesn't need them. She has a MIL that loves to shop and basically annoy the crap out of everyone, but doesn't stay around long. LOL! That and with help from the very close by Old Navy, she is pretty much set. But I have them if she needs them. On loan, of course. I want all my stuff back. That way I can pick out the most very favorites to save for my kids. I just can't bear to part with clothes. Especially baby clothes (which is why I'm still hoping that what I lent to my cousin last year are ok. She was expecting a girl, and a boy popped out. I lent her all my baby boy clothes, then a month later her house burned down. I've heard that much of my clothes were ok, though. He was still too little to fit into much of it. small fry).
Whew!
You all have been quite the busy bees here! I feel like I've been gone forever even though I've lurked and read your posts.
Well, DD went to the specialist yesterday & he is like 99% sure she does have polycystic kidney disease. She doesn't have any symptoms, so that is good. We did have her put on blood pressure meds. Her pressure was somewhat elevated yesterday & was the last time she was at the dr. as well. They have seen some slowdown in the formation of new cysts when the patient is on blood pressure meds. There are no known side effects or any damage from being on them, so we opted to go ahead and put her on them. Anything we can do to prolong the problems that come with the progression of the disease, we want to do.
So, yesterday was a bust of a day as far as getting anything done. We spent the entire day at the dr. Appt. was at 12:30 with blood work at 12:00. We got there early (11:40), had to wait an eternity to be called back then another eternity in the room. The doctor spent a lot of time with us (I guess that's why we wait so long there) and answered all of our questions and concerns, so we got out of there at around 3:40. Went to McAllister's for a late lunch and then got on the interstate just as traffic was getting heavy. Got home rather late, so I didn't go to a work function to which I was invited.
I'm hoping work won't be stressful today. I am still not feeling great with all of the health stuff with DD and would like to get back to normal before I start getting pulled and pushed again. I feel a little like I am being picked on in some ways. You know, like they are knit-picking me on things that nobody has ever said a thing about before? I am thinking about talking to the principal of DD's kindergarten this fall (he's a member of our church) and see if there are any positions at the school. I'd love to work where she is in school, but it would depend on whether I could get the same $$.
So, my biggest PODA for today is to de-stress and calm myself. I've got to stay healthy in order to help DD stay healthy.
Please say a little prayer that I'll have a stress-less day today! Thanks!

Jana
Morning
Hi guys!
That is true Jana - I'm trying figure out my work situation for next year - I think I will be working FT again after 9 years of being at home and working PT. Anyway, the schools just aren't the place to go to for the big bucks, though I think they will treat me fairly. But there are many other perks. I'm not even in the same school my kids are in though.
Anyway, prayers go out to you and your family Vonnie - I hope this health issue will be an easy one to handle.
I have the day off today - I have what I think is a manageable PODA, we'll see. I am having lunch with a friend at 12:30 and then DD ishaving a playdate here and then DS has a game.
Susannah, I thought Incredibles was pretty rough too.
Catch ya later -
Andrea
Morning!
Vonnie, hope the BP meds do the job.
$$ and schools. I thought our school paid very well. That is, for our area. NM, especially our part of it, has such a low cost of living. Our secretary makes about 24,000/year. And the teachers are doing good, too. The state has ordered them a raise to bring them up to 40,000 (with a Masters) and in a couple years that will change to 50,000. Problem is, the state didn't give the SCHOOL anymore money for their raise. Now some schools are looking at major financial problems (especially our tiny rural schools). One may have to close when that higher wage comes in.
That may not be much for ya'll, though. But I could more than easily live on 40,000/year out here (as long as the farm bills don't have to come out of that).
Game was fine last night. The other teams kids were huge! I'm questioning their age. Got home at 10. We all went to bed, not sure what time Chance finally went to sleep. He had a real late nap, but DH and I were give out. So we just put him in bed with us with PBSkids on. I woke up at 12:30 and turned it off. Bad habit, I know. But it's the only way I can mess with right now.
Up, MR is done. I may have to help DH move the loader around. I want to play with my new carpet shampooer. My MIL and nephew are coming over today to play and see the kittens. They act like they are wanting out of the box. Maybe I'll see if mama will let me take them in the backyard to play. No games tonight.
laters!
TADA: walked to PU DS7 and it was DS4's idea!
Didn't take the dog, more exercise than I could handle in one day, he is getting better on the leash but it can be a struggle!
Mopped kitchen floor and one bathroom.
Cleaned all kitchen surfaces, stove, microwave, counters, sink. I am in a much better mood not that that is done.
Need to hop in the shower and get everyone ready for the dentist!

Heidi, you had a busy morning!!
Jana, read your blog. Horrible about DS!!! But, all will probably soon be forgotten, and he will have LOTS more teeth to enjoy wiggling.
I vacuumed the living room, and as far as flying goes, that was it. MIL came over with my nephew at about 11, stayed til about 5. Fixed tuna sandwiches for lunch for us all. Friends came over at one point with their three, plus the 8 month old she is babysitting for the summer, bringing the total of kids in my house to 8. Oh. My. God. Last night, I had Chance's room SPOTLESS. After all those kids, there was not one inch of floor showing. I kid you not!!! MIL and I got it all picked up (after taking pictures to prove it). About 6:30, the friends came back (they had left about 2), and now it's 11 and they just left again. I made dinner for all, again. I've cleaned the kitchen (except the pots that are soaking over night) and I am exhausted.
Maybe tomorrow I'll get to play with the carpet shampooer.
Good night all!
Mornin'
I had agreed to watch a friend's son today, but have not heard from her yet. Maybe she found someone else.
Vonnie, I am so amazed at God's provision for your DD. Here she is with a family who loves her and can provide for her health needs. What a blessing! I'll be praying for her health and your peace.
Jenny, I could live on forty thou pretty well too! Sorry about the room. Why didn't the kids clean it up? I always hated it when my kids and their friends gratuitously dumped every container in the room. They've mostly outgrown that now.
Andrea, yeah, even DH was like, "That villain was pretty harsh!" LOL!
Heidi, you are so good about that yard work.
Last night, I stuck the dishes in the DW, then DH and I celebrated our 14th anniversary by watching Ocean's Twelve (it was okay, but a bit disjointed, and I didn't think the Julia stunt was that ha-ha funny). And eating Wendy's really late at night. (Which I'm paying for today.) Next is Spanglish.
I really, really want to homeschool and kilz the walls today. If I don't have to babysit. And let me see if I can post a picture or two.
Later!

Thursday
The phone rang at 6:10. So my day started earlier than usual. Some farmer. Wanted to talk to DH.
So I got up, watched Weather Channel with DH for a while, did MR. Kids are still all sleeping. Enjoying the silence for a little while longer.
Actually MIL and I (along with the help/hinderence of the two little 2 year olds that caused the mess) cleaned up that room. I made all the rest of the kids clean up the messes they made.
Today maybe I'll get around to playing with the new toy. And I'm hoping to do some desk stuff today, too.

Kickin back
Hey guys, taking it easy here this afternoon.
Vonnie, hope things work out with DD. You know Iris had kidney issues too -- I think it is such an uncomfortable body to mess wtih, the poor girls. Hope things go smoothly for you all.
Jenny, love that you took pictures of the mess! (And I agree, 40K is very good for a teacher's salary if you really live in a low-cost-of-living area. Asst. profs at the U of MN used to start around $35-$38K with a PhD a few years back, and that's in an urban setting where a starter home goes for about $200K!)
I am going scrapbooking for the 1st time in months! I'm so happy. I use Creative Memories, and the new papers and stuff are soooooooo cute -- just wanna stock up!
Heidi, I hope you get cooler weather soon. We cooled off today and it feels wonderful! That hot humid midwestern weather is just awful (almost as bad as those bitter-cold windy winters, eh?).
Jana, I read your blog too -- I hope you send a letter. Just a little note that says, "Hate to complain, but maybe next time . . . " As a veteran letter writer I've learned that being angry gets people defensive, but a little honey brings out the guilt!
I can remember running and hiding in the bathroom in my DDSs office, and you don't need that with your kids!
Hi to every one else -- Anne too if you are lurking!

shampooed the hall, Chance's room, girls' bathroom, and all living room/dining room/foyer. I dumped the thing about 6 or 7 times. And I'm amazed at how good a job it did! Ok, it doesn't look brand new, some spots were just too hard to get up, but the thing really did an awesome job. It's a Kenmore, on sale for $199. I think it was worth the money!!
All that did a job for my sciatica (or whatever it is. That butt nerve). I'm going to rest the rest of the day. I have to leave by about 4:15 or 4:30 for two ball games tonight. Then I have to go to walmart for some groceries. I'm completely out of milk and bread. Not a good thing. And a vacuum cleaner belt. Broke mine. Can't wait for carpet to dry so I can vacuum and SEE how clean it is!!
Took a bit of a break today!
I really down shifted today to try to get myself straight. I do not want to be grumpy all summer. The boys are "grounded" from TV, computer and video games for being such stinkers yesterday.
Jenny - my butt nerve hurt all through all my pregnacies! I feel for ya on that one!
Shaun - I need to scrap in the worst way. It is on my overall todo list for the summer! Have fun!

Hey,where has Jamielea been lately? Did I miss something?
Well, we are supposed to meet at a creek and go salamander hunting. However,it is already hot and will be in the 90's again today and the creek is about 50 minutes away so I really don't feel up to it. I didn't mention going to the kids so they shouldn't be disappointed at least. So......

MIA
I've noticed a few are missing lately. Jamie Lea and Becky, Susan hasn't checked in this week either, has she? And Anne. And Jo has only been around once. Guess they're too busy actually DOING things. LOL!
Ugh, I'm so far behind on my scrapping, it ain't even funny!!! My scrap desk has been taken over by the kids computer (that's never on), DH's music stuff, and everything else from whenever we have to quickly clean the living room. I don't want to move it to the dining table because 1. I can never get it clean enough and 2. I would never get all the stuff picked up to eat at the table. LOL!
Well, I forgot the belt for the vacuum yesterday at walmart. I suspect my roller is about shot anyway, so I'm thinking a trip to Clovis to the vacuum repair shop is in order today. I want to stop in Pville and see if the manager at Pizza Slut will cut me a deal for the end of season party. Also need money. DD5's team coach has decided to get the kids trophies, but parents need to pay for it. So have to have money for that. Which makes me look bad because all I'm giving my kids are certificates. But you know what. Some of the parents haven't even paid for their kids to play, I know there is no way I'm going to be able to get them to cough up money for trophies, and guess who will have to pay for all that. Yeah. me. I'm already paying for the pizza party (because same parents probably won't pay any for that). I'm sending a note home today about the party and telling them that the pizza provided is ONLY for the TEAM. If they want some for themselves and their dozen other children, go get it yourself (of course, I'll word it better than that, it won't be so mean). What else today. Oh, I need a list:
*clean kitchen
*vacuum repair shop
*library
*pizza slut
*team sponsors business to give him team picture and invite to party?
*and before I do any of that stuff, it's Friday. I want to make Friday bill day. So need to figure out and pay bills. and put money in account to pay for all that.
ok, I'm going.
Lazy day here.
Met with the girl that will come and stay with the kids while I am at exercise class, starts in a couple of weeks. I really like her, that is why I picked her, but wanted the kids to meet her and her to meet them. DS4 didn't scare her off
so all is well. They took to her and she took to them. Hopefully this will be a wonderful babysitter for the future! This will be our 1st paid babysitter!

Wasn't JamieLea going on vacation, the one where Jenny was gonna invade her house and have a party!?

Good Evening!
Jana-that's right, she was going on vacation but Becky is where??
Jenny-sorry about those rude parents not even wanting to come up with $ for pizza or trophies. If $ was an issue that's one thing but they just seem rude and unappreciative.
We picked up the plants at my mom's and had lunch there with her, nice visit. I came home to a cool house. DH had installed a couple window AC units while we were out! What a relief. The heat was getting unbearable here.
I planted a few of the plants and then the sky let loose with such a downpour that water started coming in my back sunroom. I hope I don't lose the plants I just stuck in the gound.
I got forget me nots, delphiniums, foxgloves, and something low growing with purple/blue flowers whose name escapes me.
Well, pizza is about ready to come out of the oven. You all have a good night and a fun weekend.
Heidi
Becky....Becky where are you?
Hope all is well, wasn't she have computer problems or something????? Not sure, my brain is fuzzy have a day or two.
TADA: errands done!
Let the boys loose in the garage to paint. They have a craft/paint/do as they please table out there and today they stretching it all over the garage floor! I just sat back and let them. No stress. Then we came in and had baths so that is done.
DH just walked in so the weekend has officially started! n
:)
Have a good weekend!

Not much of a TADA. Got my cherry tomato planted, didn't even touch the bills or do anything at my desk but play Freecell for a little while. Didn't go to Clovis, decided to just get a belt at Walmart and see if I can't get the brush to last a bit longer. Game went ok. I had 8 kids show up, so we had to borrow one from the other team. But we did win (had we been keeping score). The parent that had signed up for snack duty didn't show up, so our kids had no snacks. I felt bad for the kids. I should have had something for backup, I guess.
I'll be around in the morning. Tired. Wonder if Chance is going to give me problems going to sleep tonight.

Ok, you east coast girls, it's after noon. Where are you?
Being a bit lazy here this Saturday morning. I took a shower last night, so I'm clean, but I don't have my shoes on. I did unload the dishwasher and made the bed.
We have another wedding to go to this afternoon. took me a while to explain to DD5 why the couple had a baby last year and are just now getting around to getting married. LOL! And that her other two older children are not his, but from another guy. Oh dear.
Ya'll have a good un!
I'm here
Just nothing fly-worthy to contribute. Blew $10 at yard sales this morning and not much to show for it. Not sure how. I got some clothes for J.D., but he was doing okay without them. Some are for fall, though.
Yesterday was our end-of-school party. It was pretty fun. The kids swam in the lake and played on the playground, so it was heaven for them. We had a sort of planning meeting on the co-op. Decided what time/what day to meet, anyway.
My parakeet got loose (my fault, kicking self) and has crawled into a little hole under the cabinets. How to get her out? DH, I fear, will be quite annoyed with me. He's out kayacking right now. The anole got loose just now, but Anna Kate got him.
My house is yuk and it doesn't smell very good either. So I should go do something about it. I will.... In a minute...

Lectured the kids about their fighting and bickering, quoting Eph. 4:32. Zero effect, but I was really just putting them on notice. Prayer, reading, and doing what I know what I'm supposed to do--those will help me come up with a good solution. I know I need to keep them with me and nip their fights in the bud before they take off. Absolute justice should cut down on it. I think I let the boys get away with too much because I just get sick of the constant tattling and it's like: "Go away. I don't want to hear it." Sigh. I don't want to tomato-stake. But, as I just read elsewhere, dealing with bad attitudes is sort of like dealing with bad diapers; you have to do it, whether you like it or not. I'm getting to frustrated dealing with it after-the-fact.
Better go. I"m just putting off housework and being lazy.
Oh, and yes, Becky's computer was broken. Hope we hear from her soon! We have to keep tabs on that baby.
Love y'all!

Jenny-how did you explain that tangle to DD about the wedding and baby? I'm not too good at coming up with explanations for sticky situations like that. Was the wedding nice?
Susannah-could you put the door to his cage up against the cabinet hole and he will eventually walk back in it? Good luck! I havent gone to a good yard sale yet,but am looking foward to them.
Tomorrow is an outdoor art show in town that I would like to attend. I am looking for a business card case for DH bday. There was a woodcrafter at another show who made inlaid wood in metal cases and I want to get that for him. Hope he is at this show.
Dinner...hmmmmm. leftover pizza and salad or chicken something or other? Decisions.

computer problems and yard sale today
Those are the reasons I haven't been able to post. My laptop keeps freezing up. I called gateway and luckily I'm under warranty until Sept. So I've decided I need to call the tech people and download all my pictures and documents, just in case I need to send in the laptop for repairs. The symptoms are a little like when the hard drive went out on the desktop computer. Lost alot of files that time. I've also noticed my battery won't hold a charge so I need to get a new one of those too.
Today was the neighborhood yard sale. Considering I had given away the furniture, carpet and computer to a family whose house had burned down, I didn't think I would make more than $25 on the misc. stuff. To my surprise I made $94. But, DS found a new John Deere tractor mower and DH spent $1300. DS14 has been informed that he will be responsible for all yard work until he graduates high school and may not receive any allowance for awhile
Hi to Heidi, Jana, Susannah, Jenny, Shaun, Andrea, Vonnie, and Kerri. Yes, that's who has posted this week. To those lurking, like me most times hello to you all too.
Until later,
Susan
Air co installed!
Yay! DH put air co in the upstairs today so we can all sleep comfortably. Hurrah!
Relaxed day today. Since I went scrapping last night (fun fun!, worked on DD6s book, going backwards into the 2s, so cute!) he went to Star Wars today. We went before but the screen was awful! He said it made a big difference, so I will try to go again too. I wore the shorts I slept in until 8:30 tonight! (Then I went out for a walk so I tried to look presentable.) Needless to say (?) that is really really unusual for me, but I was just puttering and supervising DD6 working on her own scrapbook this afternoon, so what the hey.
Gotta address the assembly at church tomorrow. Eek! Basically, "Pony up you cheap [insert swear word]!" Luckily I have a little prewritten, preapproved thing to read from, so then I just have to bear the slings and arrows of any parishioners who want to corner me after the service!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Shaun

White Trash Wedding
Yep. Well, we knew it was the more trashy side of the family. The father in the family (DH's uncle) married a few years ago to the woman he had been living with for the past 10 or so. His sons and stepson were all groomsmen, and all walked in the church carrying shotguns.
Well, Everyone was in place, and I was thinking, well, at least there were no shotguns this time. When the preacher pulled out a revolver and said "Anyone that objects to this marriage can HOLD their peace". It was also revealed that the bride is pregnant, again. Due in December, 20 days after the last child turns 1.
As for what I told DD5. Well, the truth. That she was married before and had two children with him. But then they didn't love each other anymore and got divorced (that explained why the first two kids weren't our cousin's). Then our cousin started dating the lady, and they had a baby before they decided to get married. Well, at least she didn't ask where babies come from.
I'm ditching church today. Again. But I've been to town the past three days in a row, will be there again Monday, Tuesday, and at least one more time next week. I'm going to attack laundry and the house some today.
Wonderful HOT weekend here in South Texas!
Weather is BEE-UUUU-TEE-FUL! But hot so only small moments spent outside or water very handy!
We grilled shrimp yesterday, had 5lbs in the freezer and you know I do not like a full freezer during hurricane season so we are cooking from the fridge and freezer for a bit. I do not mind the extra runs to the store but I would be sick if a full freezer went bad due to a storm! Anyway, the shrimp were WONDERFUL and had just enough to add to a green salad today! YUM!
Laundry is tackled. All that is dirty is what is on our backs! That is a nice feeling but one that does not last long with a house full of BOYS!
Bathed dog! That is always a mess so my bathroom got cleaned right after!

HI all!
Love that hummus too, Heidi!
Jana, that shrimp sounds so good, I should get some.
Jenny, I chuckled at your subject line - funny, but kinda sad too.
We had a nice HOT day here too - went to a Rochester Red Wings game with our town's Little League. The Thunderbirds were in town so they did several passes over Frontier Field - fun to see. Came home, made dinner and here I am. Early day at work tomorrow so I'm off -
Andrea
Andrea - I used to see the Thunderbirds every summer
when I was a kid. Makes me smile. Glad your kids got to enjoy it. I am gonna put the shrimp marinade in the recipe box when I get a chance. It was soo good. This was the first time we had used this one and we will use it again for sure!
Heidi - the art shows sound fun!
The house is getting quiet so I am gonna head to bed.

How bout a new thread?
Wow!
Great minds think alike! I did put her cage up against the cabinet, but it doesn't go flush against it. Still, once the house is quiet, maybe she'll get hungry and come out.
