Monday Drags

Vonnie's picture

I definitely have them today! Didn't want to pull my franny out of bed & now I'm up and still not dressed or ready for work. Oh, well.

I haven't posted in several days. We've been really busy and I haven't even been home much. Saturday was a family reunion and we were gone all day pretty much. Yesterday, I just basked in the joy of Mother's Day and didn't do much. DH and DD took me on a picnic and we had a blast! It was beautiful weather and it was great. MIL wasn't too thriled that we opted NOT to spend the whole day with her. She totally doesn't "get it" that I have a mother, too and hey, I AM a mother as well! She still thinks we should spend the whole day with her. Her two unmarried sons were there & the older one cooked lunch. The married kids were with their families and made visits to her during the day/evening. IMO, that's how it SHOULD be.

Well, my PODA won't be too terribly long today.

* Get DD to preschool
* Work at my office
* Get photos downloaded on CDRom and print good ones
* Laundry
* T-ball game at 6:15
* Sweep & mop floors

My Mom is picking up DD so I should have a nice, restful afternoon. I need to get those photos downloaded, so hopefully I'll have time to do that.

I hope everyone has a good "beginning of week" day! Talk to you later!

Aw, Man!

I haven't been good at all about keeping up our checkbook. After I posted this morning, I updated it & poof! No money. Not much, anyway. I get paid, but not until Friday. DH gets paid a week from tomorrow. So, I'll have to call DH and tell him to lay off the spending/ATM withdrawels. We need to sit down and analyze our spending together. Looks like we're eating out way too much. A lot of that is because of t-ball. I need to fix dinner BEFORE the game and either eat it before we go or come in and heat it up and eat it.

Geez! Monday just got bleaker...

Good Morning! TADA mornin

Tomorrow night is my monthly LDA meeting. We are having a volunteer appreciation dinner prior to our meeting so I need to be there even earlier. I will hit rush hour traffic for sure,yuk. DH gets to do dinner,homework and bed routines solo as well.

So how was Mother's Day??? I spent it mostly outside working in the yard,walking the dog,taking DD to the park. We had pizza at home for supper. We have Pizza Pan here where if you buy 1 pizza you get 2 free!!! What a deal. The kids bought me a new wooden and iron bench for the front porch. I have been wanting that for awhile. It looks much better than the chairs that were there.
Well,better get busy on my PODA.....

At least, that is how I feel. Think I'll just blow up the house and start all over again. LOL!

I guess I'm really selfish or in a bad mood or something. But I feel like I got shafted for Mother's Day. Saturday, DH and his dad had stopped by Walmart and, out of desperation, bought me and MIL a shrub each. They thought they were buying flowers. Gave them to us Saturday night. Then yesterday, MIL and I spent the day cooking, then cleaning the kitchen, then sat around listening to THEM talk over THEIR shows on TV. Didn't get to play baseball like I had wanted to do, and I just ended up feeling like he forgot it was Mother's Day (afterall, didn't he do his duty the night before with the shrub?). This morning I sarcastically said, "Did you enjoy YOUR MOther's Day yesterday?" and he didn't even notice! Just said, yeah, it was a pretty good one! I give up.

Well, like I said, the house is a total disaster. I had all the hotspots out in the living room last week and had even vacuumed it Friday afternoon. Chance and Ch'ree had a tugawar over a bowl of popcorn, the loveseat lost. Papers bred again. I did get the sheets changed on my bed, folded two loads of laundry (leftover), got more going, found all dishes in the house (and about 10 sippy cups!!), started the dishwasher, and took the kids to school. I'm just going to have to turn off the computer in order to get anything done.

I know I'm going to have to help DH move the tractor and baler to the wheat circle (about 15 miles away). I need to do my news for the paper, then I have to turn this puppy off and really buckle down and get to work.

Ya'll have a good day.

(((((Hugs Jenny))))))

Mom's day was great! Usual school craft with pics from school, and our sunday school did handmade wooden frames(from HomeDepot), the kids drew on,colored them, and they had pics taken of them making the frame. I cooked, and DH did dishes...hubby took kids for an hour and got me a Symphony candy bar! Yummy...was nice. Very relaxing day.
Got to go to the dungeon...might open the door in there and begin the laundry.

Well, it hasn't been the most productive of days, but I take what I can get on Mondays.

TADA:

* Got DD to preschool despite fact that she wouldn't get up until 15 minutes before we had to leave
* Worked at my office & got all owner checks out
* Went to drug store & got picture CD done; will print out pics I want when I get paid
* Went to grocery store & produce stand for a few things
* Laundry - one load drying; one load in washer; one load waiting to be put away (will do when the dryer load gets done - it's clothes)
* Dinner is started - meatloaf, yellow squash with onions and purple hull peas (goal is to have it ready before game, leave in oven on really low "warm" and eat when we get back)
* Went through photos to pick out ones for photo page we have to do with each post-placement report (we have a visit 5/16)

We may get our t-ball game rained out; it sure looks like it right now. But, the only thing you can say about Alabama weather is that if you don't like the weather, just hang on 'cause it will change in about 15 minutes!

My Mom will be bringing DD home shortly. It is nice that she gets her two afternoons a week, but by the time mid-afternoon gets here, I am really missing her! She is so close to being able to read, I am going to get a couple of Leap Frog videos on Netflix for her to work with. I would be so overjoyed if she were reading when she starts K-5 in the fall! She is a bright child (IMHO!) and I hope she maintains her desire to learn and her incredible memory. I have never had a good memory, so she truly astounds me!

Jenny, I am so sorry you had a bad Mother's Day. I would be so hacked if I were you! Your DH does need a swift kick in the pants, I believe!

Susannah, glad to hear that the conference gave you some great ideas.

Heidi, cool pizza deal! We don't have any specialty pizza places, just chains.

Becky, take care of yourself, girl! Bleeding never sounds pleasant to me, internal or not!

Anne, send me some of that energy, please! Overcast days like this just saps it from me! I am determined that I am going to start eating a healthy breakfast and take my vitamins every morning. That would probably help my energy level a lot!

Jana, I say you and I go do that kick in the franny on Jenny's DH. How 'bout it? LOL!!

I hope everyone has a great afternoon. I'll be back if the game gets rained out. I am going to get back to limiting my posting to three times a day. Morning post of my PODA, midday post of what I've done and evening post of TADAs.

Susannah's picture

Nothin' much. We didn't even get around to formal homeschooling today, except for DS's reading lesson (which he absolutely LOVES! I am shocked, I thought he'd be resistant but he is sooo proud of himself. Is he ever ready for kindergarten.).

But, we did go visiting with our friends and I had a wonderful chat with her as usual. I really enjoy her company. Her kids are very bright and all of them play well together. She grinds her own bread flour too. Wow.

I had such a great time at the conference! Giggling with the girls, and all. We were up late just laughing, slap-happy.

I think I wrote about my mother's day at the end of the last thread. DH didn't go with us to the Olive Garden, but that was almost better because Mom was able to ride with me in the van, and it was a ladies' (plus kids) night out (more fun, IMO). I love going with DH when it's just the two of us, but frankly, ladies are more fun to chat with. Smiling DH went to talk with someone who can possibly help arrange for his employment next year, so that was a legitimate excuse for skipping. Smiling His present to me was watching the children while I was away. He wasn't able to go buy one because of that, but that was *all* I wanted!

So, now I have to get back on track. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow! Tomorrow, I will get up early and do everything I ought to be doing at any given moment. Yeah, right. Eye-wink

Love y'all!

Susannah

Heidi~Pizza Pan

lgunnoe's picture

Ohhhh Yes! We had the "buy one-get two free" baby back ribs Friday before last. Yummy!

We haven't had the pizza yet, as the nearest is 15 minutes from here and there are at least 8 pizza places closer! These day's we're favoring Teresa's Pizza. Do you have one of those?

One more day

Shaun's picture

My new stove gets installed tomorrow! I am so excited -- over a month with no stove and now we are going to have this fabulous one! It is sitting in the kitchen now, waiting for the gas guy to come tomorrow morning.

Otherwise my house is such a freakin' disaster I want to cry. I hear ya Jenny, I am feeling pretty discouraged myself. Tho I read in a book that "discouragment is a temptation from the very pit of Hell," which is rather strongly worded -- to say the least! Laughing out loud -- but I'm trying to keep faith nonetheless. Got the book "A Mother's Rule of Life," which is not 100% my style but I am trying to work with it to get some routine and work on our priorities.

Speaking of which, I'd better do that. I've already started by doing more 1x1 time with DBaby (turns 2 on Friday!!), but now I gotsta do some more work on the "orderly" part.

Hi to all, sorry no personal comments, b/c I am thinking of you all!

Shaun

Still no light

jennye's picture

But I did get 4 loads of laundry done (and 4 folded and put away. But that was 2 from before, so still have two to go). Also got the rest of my flowers planted, and cleaned DH's bathroom (which, believe me, was a HUGE TADA!). Vacuumed the popcorn mess from the other night. Picked up Chance's room enough that I won't break a leg tonight when I carry him to bed. Oh, and weeded and watered the garden. Got lots of stuff coming up out there, good stuff. The girls and I watched Little Women (thanks to Netflix). It was a little better than the book, but still not my kinda movie. I guess I'm into blow em up and comedies.

Shaun, yay on the new stove!! How exciting!! What did you decide on?

Susannah, glad you had a good girls weekend out!!

It's 10:00, the braves just lost (and broke their 5 game winning streak). Chance is watching toons in my room and will hopefully drop off to sleep soon (oh, please GOD, soon!! Not another midnight:30). DH is at school board meeting, but I won't expect him for another hour (they like to hang out and talk forever!!).

Have a nice night!

Here We Go!!

Vonnie's picture

At least I got up on time today. I'm dressed to shoes, makeup on & hair is air-drying. My bed is made, towels in dryer & light clothes in washer. DD is waking up and I'll fix her some cheese toast when she gets up.

Our game was not rained out, thank goodness. But, we did lose. The girls played pretty good, but the other team was bigger in size and bigger in numbers than us, so we didn't really have a chance. Two more regular season games & then tournament games and we're done. I'm looking forward to some relaxation, myself.

My boss was really weird yesterday. He is having some health problems and I think it has him feeling insecure in the respect people have for him. I have not changed my feelings one bit toward him, but for some reason I think he was "giving me a message" yesterday. I had a huge stack of checks with owner statements attached for him to sign. He asked questions here & there and I answered all of them. He has this way of acting as if your answer is not what he wanted, but I told him that the software we use automatically does what it does & I can't control how things print out. ANYWAY, after questioning about 4 statements/checks, he had finished signing them all & an agent (male) was with him and he says to me "You didn't think I looked at all of the statements when I signed them, did you?" with a sort of smirk on his face. I just answered "Yes, actually I did think you looked at all of them, you just don't always have questions." I think he was being a little smart-aleck in front of another man (we have a little bit of "good ole' boy network) to try to embarass me. He's done this even before his health problems, when it seems like maybe he's not in the loop on something and perceives it that an employee is not respecting him enough. Respect is SUCH a big thing with men, isn't it?

Oh, well, I'd better get going. Lots to do today. Talk to you gals later!

Boy that man can change our plans. "hey kids, how 'bout we sell all our game consoles, and get the cube" A resounding YES! With pumping arms! (we (DH and I had been discussing this, as the other games are a bit more "mature") So they spent all afternoon (dh home early to get new glasses adjusted) wrapping up the N64, playstation, and x-box and finding all the games! They pawned them...so smart...and had enough to get the cube and the game we agreed on. Sonic! Was really cool, as all the game consoles had been handed down to us thru the years! And I will claim as declutter! ha ha

Mystery man across the street

SusanY's picture

My neighbor called this morning to inform me that a man had been sitting in a car in front of our house since before 6:30am. So at 7:30 I called our small town police. They came by and apparently he is investigating something. It is now 10 and he's still there. He doesn't have government plates and is actually from another county. A little unsettling.

Susan, sounds strange. Let us know if you find out anything.

Oh well, was nice while it lasted. Gotta run, Savannah's making a mess!

Susan, that sounds very stran

jennye's picture

Susan, that sounds very strange. Can't wait to hear what it is!

Vonnie, the boss has PMS! LOL!

Well, DH took me out to breakfast. AFTER I had already drank an instant breakfast. So I guess I'll skip lunch today. LOL! Not sure what I'll get accomplished today. For sure I have to bake cupcakes for snacks after ddnow8's game tonight. I really need to balance the checkbook and figure out bills today.

stove . . . almost

Shaun's picture

The gas guy came, but apparently Sears does not think electric connections come standard, so DH has to do the wiring still tonight. Also, we measured for width, but since we were told it was standard we didn't think about depth. Oops, covers up a set of cupboards! So who knows what we'll do with that.

Still, I love my stove, I can't stay angry!

Gotta get DD to bed, good morning to all!

Lenora-yes we have Teresa's Pizza here too. We gotta try the rib deal as well! Hey,is Akron a better area to get a good teaching position when you graduate? Cleveland is the closest city to me (I'm near Chagrin Falls) and they are laying teachers off left and right. Very discouraging and frustrating for parents,teachers,students. Luckily our district always passes any levies that come up and has hardly any turnover.

Susan-hope blood work yields answers soon. Good luck..

Jenny-funny how DH can talk late after a meeting but if we do it it's like"Where were you,it's sooooo late" Right???

Bought DD a grape tomato plant for her own to water and watch grow. She is excited about it. Loves to eat tomatoes of any kind.

Our pond is starting to get that algae film over the surface yet again so I dumped some ecofriendly stuff in it today. Hopefully it will clear up.

Better run.......

Afternoon Hellos

Vonnie's picture

I hope everyone is having a great day. It's back and forth sunny then overcast here. Can't make up it's mind!

Well, I didn't see boss at work today. But my manager pulled a bunch of may bank stuff yesterday afternoon after I left and told me this morning she is going to reconcile my account (part-time girl does her account for her). She had some questions for me, kinda made me nervous. I don't think there's a problem, I think she's just trying to help me and be nice. Anyway, I emailed her the document that she had a question about (it was on my work computer that's at my house). It's always disconcerting to me when someone is "in my stuff". It's in such disarray anyway. And I probably have some errors; we'll find out when she gets it done, I suppose.

I "have" to use the medium grade because DH tells me I do. He works at the plant that manufactures my car & that's what they recommend for optimal performance, so that's what he wants me to put it in! LOL!

I'm anxious to hear about the investigator, too. Of course, you may never find out what it was anyway.

Not much to TADA this afternoon. I'm waiting for towels to finish drying.

Have a great afternoon!

Vonnie

done for the day..girls are unable to be contained all registered for school...and I talked with principal..and she is going to let them be in a class together for kinder...we will split in 1st grade! big relief...then she looked closer at them...and said...oh my...they are identical? eek...but she said we still can...ahhh
I am gonna sit with a summer paper back and enjoy the great outdoors.

OT for Heidi~Teaching Positions

lgunnoe's picture

Heidi, I'm almost exactly half way between Akron and Cleveland, really: 30 min to Akron, 35-45 to Cleveland (depending on traffic and time-of-day, of course) (I can hit Chagrin Falls on 271 in about 15 minutes, too!) Suburban districts are hit-and-miss for Family and Consumer Sciences positions, though there is a BIG wave of retiree's in the next few years. Since I'm quite happy in urban and/or diverse schools...my pool of possibilities is actually fairly large! I'd love a GRADS position (for pregnant and parenting teens)...a middle school, a high school or a vocational program...(preference in that order!)...thanks for asking!

Blessings,

Jenny, you gave me your round ligament pain! Laughing out loud Mine isn't too bad though, just annoying. I expect your baby will come before mine since this is my first so will probably be a little late.

Hi everyone!

TADA:
-got a load of neglected dishes done
-ate enough (this is a big accomplishment! Eating is a lot of work when it's not fun)

That's it for today. Guess the laundry will happen tomorrow. I'm going to bed.

Good Morning to Everyone

Vonnie's picture

It's midweek once again. Wednesdays are typically really bad days for me, so I'm hoping today proves to be an exception. I don't know why, but it seems that I almost always have a bad day, stressful situation, etc. on Wednesdays.

I have calmed down about my work junk. My supervisor emailed me with what I need to do last evening and told me not to worry about it that she wasn't & that we'll get it current/corrected. But, I feel a definite sense of urgency to get it done and I had some other things I needed to handle the rest of this week, but they'll have to wait. I opened my devotional book this morning and today's reading was titled "Choosing Joy Over Worry". OK, OK, I get it! It's like it was written just for me on May 11 this year. I read the passages and the devotion and I feel so much better.

We visited with DH's aunt & uncle who are here from California last night and got home way too late. We are all dragging this morning, especially poor little DD. I may try to get her to take a short nap this afternoon since we have AWANA tonight. Oh, and it's the last "real" week of AWANA - woohoo! Next week is awards night. I am glad to not have that obligation every Wednesday anymore.

My PODA:

* Get DD to preschool & remember to send in check
* Work at my office
* Laundry - get it caught up once again & do DH's uniforms
* Sweep & mop - SLUG
* Make dinner, eat & clean up before AWANA
* Get a newspaper for grocery sales and start a menu plan for next week

I hope everyone has a wonderful & productive day. It looks like it's gonna be sunny and warm here.

Becky, don't count on me goin

jennye's picture

Becky, don't count on me going before you. I was 3 days late with my first, then 9 days late for my 2nd AND 3rd! Sorry about your pain. Tylenol helped me.

We had a late night, too. Got back from ball games at 9, fixed grilled cheeses for dinner, and DDnow8 did her homework and was in bed by 10. But, she was up and chipper this morning, excited to wear some new clothes she got. She got an American Girl doll and was SO EXCITED!! Maybe I'll put pics up on my website today.

I've got a few things to get done today, but thankfully I don't need to go anywhere except pick up the kids from school. Desk stuff is major on the list, as well as that laundry I didn't fold yesterday. And maybe a few zone chores in the kitchen.

Think we will have an early dinner tonight. Me, being the sweet wife and DIL that I am, bought DH and FIL tickets to see Willie Nelson in concert tonight. He will be in town, which is like a HUGE big deal, we don't get anyone famous, ever.

Ya'll have a good day!

Good Morning

Monday we had our end of the year awards at HS bowling league. Trey got a trophy and a gold metal. Smiling Had a nice time.
Today's park day, not really in the mood but I guess we'll try and go anyway.

TADA
*load of linens washed, dried, and put away
*another load in the washer

I'm cleaning the top of Tony and Anthony's closet, they have a huge closet and then a smaller one. The larger closet shelf is where I keep all my blankets and comforters, I'm 27 fling boogiein in there. Already looks much better and nice to have some x--tra room.

Becky-little by little...you seem to know that though. How did those tests go at school?

Vonnie-here's to an end to Wednesday Mayhem...

Where's Andrea and Jackie?

Anyway, better get DD situated with a project....hmmmm ....stringing fruit loops???

They went all right, not spectacular.

Wednesday Mayhem Avoided

Vonnie's picture

It was an uneventful Wednesday for a change, thank goodness. Hopefully tomorrow will be equally as uneventful for me as I don't go into the office & don't want to be "called" in to do anything.

Boss is still knit-picking, this time a coworkers' filling out of a form to switch a utility. At least it's not confined just to me! I remember when DD was on anti-seizure meds (this is what he's on) and how it changed her whole personality and made her so cranky and onery. Good thing I know how nice he normally is, or I'd think about heading out.

Well, I've not accomplished anything spectacular today, but I have a small TADA:

* Took DD to preschool dressed as Mary, Mary Quite Contrary
* Paid preschool tuition for this month
* Worked at my office 3 hours and got a good bit done on my project (instigated by my knit-picking boss)
* Laundry - I don't even know how many loads I've done
* Cooked dinner (pork chops w/homemade gravy, corn on cob & fried green tomatoes)
* Cleaned kitchen & ran dishwasher
* Swept floors

My PODA for the rest of this evening:

* Take DD to AWANA (next-to-last night - whoohoo!)
* Unload dishwasher when I get back
* Get DD to bed at a decent hour
* Mop floor
* Finish laundry in washer & dryer
* Look over preschool workbook and make some notes on some things to start working on with DD

Well, I'd better get going. We need to leave for church shortly.

All the aches and pains of pregnancy...I sympathize with you pg mommies. (((Hugs))) to you, Becky. I hope eating becomes enjoyable again real soon.

Whew, glad you didn't get called in, Vonnie. You are amazing, doing work, home, and work-from-home.

I've been a space cadet lately. I was supposed to call a lady right back and took her number down and then totally forgot to do it after I finished what I was doing. So, I called and left an apologetic VM on her phone. She's looking for a homeschool support group and met my mom in the library. Then, we got a tax bill in the mail and I totally blanked out on whether I had already paid the property tax or not. I can't remember! But I think this bill is regarding an ad valorem tax for the now-defunct landscaping business.

TA DA's:
*Homeskooled
*Switched one load of laundry
*Fed children
*Went grocery shopping for more food and 3-ring binders
*Late supper
*Letting kids stay up late again.

Hmmm, even stretching it it's not much.

I got balloons and the kids are playing with a few of those right now. $1 for a bag...cheap entertainment.

Well, better go round 'em up and head 'em upstairs.

Love,

Susannah

I have zone stuff to TADA:*

jennye's picture

I have zone stuff to TADA:
*cleaned oven and racks
*cleaned stovetop (took apart and cleaned even)
*cleaned microwave
*fronts of dishwasher and oven
*all the dishes, even dinner ones!!
*edited to add replanted some flowers that Chance felt the need to pull up.
*AND Chance got a shower. He was outside and had stripped down to nothing and played in the mud in my flowerbeds (different ones from the flowers he pulled up). So I just got out the garden hose and soaked him down with the jet setting on the spray. LOL!

Dinner was in the crockpot and bread machine, and boy, did it smell good today! DH was mad when he came in (I was at school for a meeting for Kinder. Grad), thought it was for later tonight and he wouldn't get any, so he ate some chili burritos. Then I had to inform him that it was ready, and he was too full to eat! LOL! Serves him right for always asking me to breakfast or lunch AFTER I had ate! Laughing out loud

I'm just enjoying listening/watching GAC (country videos). Wish they would quit playing tearjerkers. Not good with my hormones raging! DDnow8 got a few phone calls from family (my aunt and one from Grandpa Grumpy. Yes, that is what my father insists on being called).

Ya'll have a good night! cya in the morning!

-three dw loads of neglected dishes (this includes big pans which take up a lot of space, so there weren't as many piled up as that sounds!)
-put some new litter in the catbox, I'm sure dumping it in must be all right
-got DH to go buy some tuna and bread

We might have a late-night run to the drugstore in our future, for cat food and Ensure.

Becky- the whole thing with pregnant women and cat feces(toxiplasmosis(SP?) pertains to feral and/or outdoor cats and the contamination. If you have a healthy indoor pet,it shouldn't apply. My friends and I all have cats and changed their litter during our pregnancies. But hey, if you can use it to get out of that nasty chore,then go for it! LOL.

Another Beautiful Morning

Vonnie's picture

Looks like we're going to see 90 today! Whew! Glad we had a nice spring because it looks like summer has arrived!

Well, I went to sleep with a headache and woke up with it as well. I think it's sinus because my teeth hurt. I'll probably bow out of coffee with friend this morning and just come home and relax while DD is in preschool.

My PODA assuming headache goes away:

* Laundry
* Unload dishwasher
* Do menu plan/grocery list
* General straightening/putting things away
* Look through family photos for some needed for post placement report next week

Well, I'm gonna run. I'll talk to you gals later.

Thursday

jennye's picture

Becky, heidi is right. The litter box thing is ok, because you've been exposed to the cat forever and are immune to whatever problems the box may cause in pregnancy. I haven't been allowed to have an indoor cat in years, I miss that (except for them pissing all over my carpet out of hatred of DH, who in turns hates back and practices his aim with police issue pepper spray).

I had forgotton to add to my TADA yesterday that I did have the desk pretty clean and got most of the bills sorted and figured out. that's a pretty big task. Still have to get the money, then actually PAY the bills, though.

And good morning to all!

Kids are eating breakfast, we are ahead of schedule so I got a little computer time early. I need to get a few groceries, but not sure if I really want to go to town twice today (DD8 has a game tonight, but since it won't be over til 8:30, I really hate to drag them all that late on a school night). Also have games tomorrow, graduation on Saturday, company over on Sunday. So, I'm not really sure what my PODA will be yet.

Haven't seen DH to see how the concert was. He called at 11 to tell me he was leaving and that it was great, but I have no details. I was of course in bed when he got home, and he went out to go bale sometime in the wee hours and is still out there.

getting out of chores

Becky's picture

Yep, you got it! Why not avoid what I can, right? One of our cats gets out sometimes, which is why the doctor said it's best for me to avoid the litter box to be on the safe side.

Hi all. I'm not posting a PODA right now. I'll post a TADA later when I'm less mushy in the brain. Laughing out loud

As always, things change.

As always, things change.

DH needs me to go to Clovis to take some hay samples to a lab to be analyzed for nutritional content. Works out anyway, he came home to sleep, so this way we can get out of his hair.

Will do my school news for the paper and will get. Glad I did hair and makeup already!

Tough day

jamielea's picture

I'm pooped. Cut the grass in the front and back yard today. Washed Master bedroom sheets. Finished Tony and Anthony's closet. Smiling I keep alot of my bed linens in the top of there closet, went threw all that and got it all nice and neat. Freecycled 3 king size dust ruffles, 2 sheet sets, and some mix match pillow cases.

Home school was (like Susannah says) abbreviated today. We did get in alot of reading though. I think I may take the day off tomorrow; I fell in a hole in the back yard and hurt my ankle, might just milk that like I KNOW DH would. Laughing out loud

Hope you all had a great day, see ya tomorrow.
JL

Ouch! Hope the ankle is ok,

Ouch! Hope the ankle is ok, JamieLea!

I got the sample off at Clovis, then back to Pville for groceries. Forgot the peanut butter, but got grad gift (decided on a charm bracelet with 3 charms: cheerleader, horse, and 2005; and I'm going to put it on a teddy bear), plants for garden, and much needed diapers. Bank, McD's. Back tonight for ball game. DD8 was catcher, and she did a GREAT job!

Tomorrow, I need to clean. Lots of it! see ya then!

Have a good day everyone!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Vonnie's picture

I am not superstitious, but my boss is. He will not sit in seat 13 on a plane, stay in room 13 in a hotel, won't sign a check dated Friday, the 13th, etc. Too funny!

Well, hopefully today will go by really fast at work. My hope is that I'll just be left alone to continue with my project and can get it closet to finished. I didn't even work on it yesterday as my sinuses were killing me and I felt horrible.

Today's PODA:

* Get DD to preschool on time
* Work at my office
* Take purse to cleaners to be monogrammed
* Go to credit union and deposit my paycheck
* Pay power bill
* Finish laundry
* Cook dinner
* DD has t-ball game at 6:15

Nothing spectacular today. Just status quo, I suppose.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

BRAC

jennye's picture

That's what I'm listening too. Cannon AFB, in Clovis, is on the BRAC list to close. Oh, my, the town is in an uproar!! I sure hope we don't lose our base. I'm scared to think what would happen to our big town, and Pville, if it does. Anne, I think you can understand my worry. Holloman is just on the realignment side, and I'm sure that has you worried, too.

So, other than listening to that, which is all that is on any radio station here:

I have tons of work to do around here. Take out lots of trash, and just some cleaning. Maybe plant my new tomatoes and peppers. Listen to more radio. Kids are mad at me because I decided not to go to their playday at school. But dealing with Chance out there, I just don't wanna do it. Besides, we have games tonight. Graduation tomorrow. Church (maybe) and company on Sunday. Game on Monday. And tons more stuff next week, too.

have a nice day!

Heidi, you gotta have the kids picture "going over the falls in a barrel"! I had one when I was there, it was SO FUNNY!!

Well, had hell getting here yesterday. But do have a TADA to report:
*ALL laundry done, folded AND put away
*CLEANED the girls room. The papers just breed in there! Between my desk and their room, it filled up an entire lawn sized trash bag!
*just some picking up
*mowed the yard

Had a game to coach last night. Dealing with parents. They are mad. Well, one last night was mad, one just didn't show up. complained that her son was on the bench the night before and again last night. I explained (thru an interpreter) that her son did play the night before, he was a starter. But that we have 13 players and 9 positions. I make the lineup in the order that they show up to the game. We then have to sub after the 2nd inning the other kids. She still said, "he didn't play last night". So, I got out my book and showed her, "Yes, he was on second base the first two innings, and he struck out at bat in the first". Well, she still didn't believe me, and went and got an official of the league. Where I handed over my book and they scrutinized it and determined that, yes, he DID play! Well, why is he on the bench tonight? Because he was #11 to show up tonight. After the 2nd inning, I'll put him in. At one point, she tried to get him to go home, I think. I couldn't understand. But he kept saying no and she walked off in a huff.

And so it begins. I hate that I can't understand what is being translated. For all I know, they both hate me anyway and the interpreter is saying, "Well, this little gringo @!#$% claims that he played, but I didn't see it so she is probably lying. Let's slash her tires!!".

In better news. LOL! I was their at the game and the other coach's wife shows up. She and I are pretty good friends. Anyway, she had been at the school's Sports Banquet, which I really wanted to go to, but since I had a game, couldn't. Anyway, apparently, I won an award!! Booster Of the Year! Wow! Of course, I'm still convinced she is pulling my leg. She said shes going to tell it on the radio Monday (she is on the country stations morning show). So, cool.

Today, I'm going to vacuum and pick up a little more (because Chance and Daddy were left alone for a few hours last night), then take Chance-a-rooster over to my MIL's. Then I can go to senior grad with no children! Too bad I don't get to sit with hubby. He is stuck sitting with all the other board members, then has to get up on stage. hehehe!

Ya'll have a great weekend!!

Heidi, I was just in N. Falls on Wednesday for a Dr. appointment. Are you on the Canadian side? it is only about 1 1/2 hours from here. Hope you have fun! My kids always do. I have heard that the Journey Behind the Falls in Canada and also the Cave of the Winds on the US side are fun attractions.

I am going sometime this weekend to the *big* city 60 miles away to buy a computer for the business and the full version of QuickBooks. I know DS wants to go, and he has a double-header in the halfway-to-the-big-city town, so I may go to his games and then head out from there, or I may put it off until tomorrow, I don't know yet. Maybe DH can go too, and we can make a fun, family night of it.

Alright, I gotta go do something with this house, Yikes!
Bye,

Welcome home, Jo!

Susannah's picture

Hope Heidi is having fun on her trip too. Congrats, Jenny, on the award! And Jamilea, I need to follow your flinging example.

Well, I don't have much to report, even having been AWOL for a few days. I did clean up for the bug guy (who is a friend of ours) and we had a nice chat when he came over. I also ironed half my ironing pile last night while watching The Country Girl (Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby). Grace Kelly was so beautiful. I also mended the buttonholes on my (yard sale purchased) denim dress so it wouldn't come unbuttoned at unfortunate moments anymore. Big grin

Today I went yard saling and got some clothes for me (they all fit! Yay!); a "new" shower curtain for the kids' bathroom; dinosaurs, horses, a water gun, a remote control car, and a dinosaur book for the kids; and a few other what-nots. I can't have spent more than $10-$11, including the brownies I got from a bake sale. Pretty good!

After that we had appetizers for lunch. Smiling This was pretty good; I got it off allrecipes.com: take dill pickles, pat them dry, spread with cream cheese, wrap in thin-sliced smoked beef, refrigerate overnight. Slice and place on triscuits with sliced cheddar. MMMMM!

After lunch, we went to Ms. Mary's because someone gave me several bags of clothes for her and I had flung kids clothes piled in my van for her too. I took all the kids with me and they played in her front yard with their yard sale toys. Smiling That was a nice visit.

Then we took off for the pet store and bought turtle food and a small blue channel cat for our aquarium. DH picked up two baby cooters yesterday while he kayaked down the river with a pal. He's sunburnt!

It's raining and thundering here, which is good. The grass in the front needs it. Forgot to water yesterday.

Now I'd better come up with supper. Maybe pancakes.

Later!

Susannah

hi all!

Becky's picture

Jenny, don't worry about the translation issue. My friend coached softball and ice hockey, and she got in the identical argument with some parents, but all in English. Then the next year when my friend ran for city council (this was when we lived in a small town), those parents and their friends campaigned against her BECAUSE they thought that their kid had been benched too much or got a penalty when he shouldn't have or something like that; basically like the argument you just had. Talk about petty. She won anyway, but geez.... So anyhow, the language barrier doesn't make a difference because this kind of thing transcends culture and language, apparently.

Andrea, how does your dog look?

Vonnie, your boss sounds like a good source of stories at least.

Heidi, have fun at the Falls!

Glad you had a good time in Boston, Jo.

Susannah, don't get too close to the computer in the lightning.

Wow, that's the first time in ages I've had time/ energy to say hello to everyone. TADA:

-errands and more errands (including OB appointment, which was fine, baby's heartbeat sounds fine and all that)

Oh Jenny

Vonnie's picture

Today was our last regular season game & no one is happier than I am! DH is the coach because he & one other dad were the only two to show up for the first meeting. He said he'd coach because the other dad travels a lot. Then, at our first practice this other dad said he'd help, but he doesn't want to coach. Long story short, he DID want to coach (but not bad enough to come to the meeting), but he only wants the glory, not the work. He yells at the girls and gets them upset when they mess up (they are 5 & 6 year olds!). His daughter wants DH to hug her & give her attention (wonder why?), so I think that makes the asst. coach mad. He wants to change the batting order all the time (moving his daughter way up, of course) and put his daughter at pitcher, which she isn't good at & we have a girl who is REALLY good at it & is uncomfortable playing other positions). He tends to be really hard on my DD, who doesn't "get it" quite yet, and yelled at her today. She came to me (I was keeping the book) with tears in her eyes. I told him to lighten up, she was only 5 and it was only a game. Then, I mouthed off to another mother right in front of the asst. coach's oldest daughter. Nothing bad, just that he was being way too aggressive and hollering too much at the girls with no praise at all. So, she'll probably tell her mom & dad what she heard & the mom (who is a *^*)!) will most likely confront me. Whew! Did you get all of that? ANYWAY, I am ready to lose two games and be done! Truthfully, most of the girls are ready for it to be over. We only had 4 home games out of 12 & had to travel 30 minutes to two ballgames. It was ridiculous!

That being said, DH took DD fishing and I need to go change out the laundry. It's been a very relaxed day with no PODAs and no pressure other than the game. I'm hoping tomorrow will be much the same.

Cya!

Good Morning!

Back from Niagara falls last night. It was a pleasant enough time except that it was too cold/windy to take the boat ride through the falls. We did swim in the hotel pool,eat out alot,go to Clifton Hill to Ripley's and a 4 d movie,shopped, and that's about it. I wnet nuts getting birth cert and passports together because I was told that I needed them to re enter US. Of course,no one ever asked for them!!! Go figure....

PODA
morning routine
kids home(DS sick,DD too tired)
read paper
finish unpacking
laundry
bank deposit
pick up film
return library book

Last 3 on the list are all within 5 minutes of each other so will let DS veg on the couch and take DD with me.

Jenny and Vonnie-organized sports can be so good for kids but the more I hear there are so many crazy parents and unhappy kids. My DS has no interest in organized sports but will play softball in the back yard with kids from the neighborhood or us. There are no traveling games and no hovering parents. Just like in the "old days". Oh well....maybe we will go down that road if DD wants to participate in something but I am definitely not looking foward to all that garbage...BLEH...
Sometimes I think that if everyone would stop all the running around with their kids then more kids would be available to play outside when they feel like it instead of at an appointed time. Do I sound too harsh? Don't mean to. Just wish some parents weren't so intense about it all. Enuf.

Better go sort clothes for the washer
