We used FMLA for DD's birth

DH was able to stay home with me for the first two weeks after DD was born. It was amazing to have him there with us. We planned to use it again if we have another child. It wouldn't make us broke if he couldn't, but it might if I ended up in the hospital and he had to take care of me and DD all by himself. (unecessary political remark removed)

We used FMLA with my hysterec

We used FMLA with my hysterectomy in December. Axel was able to use his vacation pay, but only with FMLA approval. We also used it after Anja was born. I am of the opinion that it should be taken a step further and people should be given paid time off. If we didn't have vacation pay that he was able to transfer to FMLA pay we would not have been able to afford it. As it was, in December he only had 3 days of vacation pay left so that was all he could take off. We are paycheck to paycheck. Take away the paycheck and we are in line for a food box. (ok, well that has happened even with the paycheck....but that is another topic.)
