Hello from South Dakota!

We're in a coffeeshop with wireless service to check in. I'm waiting to get e-mails related to work and my PayPal account.

Having a nice visit with mom -- DD5 went riding yesterday and had a blast, but today she is very sniffly. Hope she is not allergic to horses or we'll have big trouble!

Hope you're feeling better Andrea! During your recovery I have a new book for you -- The Shadow of the Wind. DH took my copy and stayed up all night reading it! A real page turner I guess. I have just started it -- looks interesting.

Read through all the posts but can't possibly respond to all, so hope you're having a great week!

HI all! Thanks for thinkin

HI all!

Thanks for thinking of me Shaun I checked it out on Amazon, does look like a page turner!

Worked today and am beat, but at least not achy, just stuffy. OK, I promise, no more complaining!

DD just frosted a cake I need to go look at.

Inlaws made 12 pasties for us today - so we have 4 dinners in the freezer! Yay! She has also been doing my laundry and cleaning, very nice.

Day's end

I'm pooped. Probably didn't help that I had a margarita with DH this afternoon, that's a sure fire "sleeping" aid for me.

I did manage a TADA today

*Morning routine
*swept and mopped kitchen
*vacuumed downstairs (need to get upstairs tomorrow)
*cleaned fireplace for the summer
*one load laundry (doing pretty good on keeping up with that)
*Homeschooled
*cleaned the WALLS in the boys bathroom (don't ask, cause i'm not sure!)
*BBR done Smiling

Will be nice to wake to a clean kitchen in the morning.

Andrea, I missed that you were sick, hope your feeling better soon.

Shaun, have fun at your mom's, thanks for checking in.

Well better run "pretend" to be sleeping. (dh's on his way upstairs) Laughing out loud Not sure it's going to work but i'm SOOOO tired, gotta give it a try!

Thanks Shaun-for the new thread!

We put you to work on your vacation! Thankyou!
Had pop in last minute folks for dinner last nite...lots of laughter. Everyone up way to late...DH up late this am, and I didnt' want to get out of shower....please can I have that hour back?
PoDa
never did fold boys laundry...they were going thru it in the dryer last nite for clothes...bad, bad, bad flybaby
sweep
girls in tub and do their hair
make boys lunches
more laundry-sheets and comforters
dog must be bathed today...she has an aura of stink! DH is threatening to make her stay outside... Sad

I am so blah about getting my house together...just feel exhausted.
My oven is fixed and did a couple dozen test rolls/baquettes mini yesterday...seems to be great!
Gotta go stare in freezer for inspiration for dinner and drag the boys out of bed...please can I have my hour back....???

jamielea's picture

Good Morning

Sounds like you need some rest Anne. Last minute dinner guests would freak me out.

Savannah's still sleeping Puzzled She's usually up an hour ago, maybe a grouth spurt?

Anywhoo, you would think with the extra hour to myself this morning I would have done SOMETHING. NOT! I've taken some much needed me time Smiling Read some of my book, watched a bit of TV, caught up on some e-mail. Nice morning, maybe I should try getting up an hour before her all the time.

No real "PODA" just a little bit of everything. Got some cool spiderman material the other day at Wal-mart, might make use of that today. Need to work on Trey's reading, try and finish him up for the year. He'll probably get about a month off and then we'll start 2nd grade! He's pretty excited about being a 2nd grader.

Well better run, hope to be back this afternoon with a nice little tada.

Susan? You around?
What about Jackie?
Miss you guys.

See yall in a bit.

Present

I'm here. Had to run to town today, was completely out of milk, not a good thing with three kids. LOL! didn't get a chance to feed Chance before, so we got a treat at McDs for breakfast (which was yummy. It's lunch I can't stand there anymore). Got me a new cell phone (DH was chewed out by another school board member that "Your wife needs a new cell phone!" LOL!).

Excitement for last night:
I had booster club meeting, DH had school board meeting. So we let the kids run around in the gym while we met in the concession stand (other parents kids were there, too. about 10 total). Chance pulled the fire alarm. sirens and lights blaring, it took 30 minutes to get them all shut off (resetting them off again in the meantime). Ch'ree was in tears, I guess she thought there was really a fire. Chance hid under the concession stand tables. Ah, chaos.

Braves' first game is going to start in 15 minutes. I'm going to miss some of it when I pick the kids up from school and I have a kindergarten graduation meeting after school. But at least DH took Chance on the semi truck/loader for the rest of the day. Ah, peaceful bliss!!!

jamielea's picture

My day was a bust!

Didn't get anything around the house done. Did take a 2 HOUR nap with Savannah! Trey watched a movie quietly in my bedroom with us.

Last minute wal-mart run, mainly for soda but it's hard for me to go to wal-mart and JUST get soda. Laughing out loud Bought "Spanglish" Tony and I watched it this afternoon when he got home from school. I enjoyed it, he gave it 2 and a half stars Puzzled boys!

DH's watching a basket ball game, Barf! men!

Tomorrow's park day with the homeschool group. Thursday I have a dr's appointment. Friday DH's getting, uh.....fixed. Laughing out loud and Trey has a birthday party to attend. Pretty busy week.

Better run, I hear DH calling me to watch his game with him, oh joy! Laughing out loud See you guys tomorrow.
Jamie Lea

jennye's picture

OMG!

Jamie Lea, you are so like me!! After this baby is born, I'm trying to get my DH fixed. Or, as we call it, get cut. Afterall, that's what we do to little bull calves. Well, not exactly anymore. We used to just cut them off, then eat Rocky Mountain Oysters, but that was back in Florida. DH and FIL don't do that. We actually put a rubber band on them then they fall off in a couple weeks. I guess we won't do that to DH. Just a little snip, snip! LOL! But that's easier than it would be on me!!!

jamielea's picture

OUCH

I'll be sure and tell DH how lucky he is to be a man and not a bull! Laughing out loud but I'll wait till after Friday. He's getting cold feet, well not exactly "feet". Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

I know I shouldn't laugh at his expense but it's probably easier on him than say carrying and delivering a 11 lb. 12oz baby boy or a 12 lb. 6 oz baby girl! Smiling

Time for bed, see you guys tomorrow

HI all!

I'm home today and cancelled going into my kids' classes - still not 100%. Do have to take inlaws to airport later and then have scouts. Figure out dinner. I"m also going to mop my new floor for the first time. I guess I"m supposed to use just water and vinegar.

Have a great day -

Wind. Again

Yet another windy day. Gusts only up to 50, though. Not as bad as yesterday when I had to get out in it.

I did accomplish getting the kitched fairly picked up last night, and this morning I even put away the clean dishes and unloaded the dishwasher. Cool.

PODA:
*I HAVE to clean my desk! I have overdue bills buried in here somewhere and it's just horrible. I started cleaning the shelves the other day. I would really like to take a picture of my desk, it's cool because this was a sewing closet. I had DH build me a desk for the puter and I can close the doors up and hide it. Very unique, I think.
*take care of a couple bad hot spots in the living room. My "corner" (which is the hearth next to my recliner that was once DH's recliner, till I took it over after Chance was born).

Another OB already Becky? I've only been twice, once to confirm (aka pee on a stick like I did at home already), and once for a bit of paperwork. I haven't even been examined yet! My first appt. is April 19th, I'll get an ultrasound and who knows what else. I hope no pokin' and proddin'. LOL!

DH is off hauling hay again, and was a sweetie and took the girls to school for me. I still need to shower, while Chance is still asleep. Tried waking him up when I got up, but he does enjoy his sleep.

What a Day, What a Day, What a Day!

The week is half over - yeah! Tomorrow is my day not to go into office - yeah! I have to go to Awana tonight & my helper (my SIL) is out of town - boo!

And, we had a tornado warning this afternoon. There wasn't a confirmed tornado on the ground, but evidence of rotation on radar. It went just south of our home (where me & DD were) and just next to DH's work (where he was). We did well with no damage from that one, but there's more coming in from Missisippi this evening. Hope it will be innocuous as well.

Not much of a TADA today:

* Laundry - three loads washed, dried & put away
* Dusted living room
* Swept living room
* Got the sales papers to make my list for this next week

Tomorrow I plan to clean out my deep freezer. Or, at least start cleaning it out. NO telling how long it might take. There are things in the very bottom that can't be good anymore & I need to shift it out and organize it so I can see how much room I'm gonna have. I need to go look at vegetable plants and large planters this weekend. I want to get tomatoes, sweet & hot peppers and maybe a few other things. Keeping them hydrated in containers in our hot, hot summer will be the key.

Well, it's past time for me to head toward church. I am not looking forward to having my group to myself tonight. It is still stormy, so there may not even be many kids there anyway. Who can tell? Some nights when it's been bad weather, we've been packed out! Yup, I'm watching the weather and the counties to our west, north & south are under severe t'storm warnings. We're next, I'm sure.

Better run. Talk to you later!

I'm back.

TADA
dinner: maple sesame marinated London Broil, salad, "tots" for the kids
dishes
one load laundry

PODA
sit, relax
hopefully unwind for a good night's sleep, I've had nasty insomnia again-stress Sad

Jenny, what did Chance think when the alarm went off?
They charge parents $500 for alarm pulls around here.

Went and signed our lives away at the bank today. Here's proof positive I live in a very small town: DH sauntered into the bank Monday and picked up a BIG check and we signed the papers today. At 5:30pm after banging on the locked door and being let in by our loan officer. Smiling

Vonnie, you are a brave woman. I don't know I have the gut to clean out my deep freeze...

Where is Heidi? And Susannah too?

Have a good one all,
Peace,
-Jo

OK,

Andrea's picture

Good night

Gosh I haven't seen Heidi forever!

Gotta love small towns Jo, I know I do!

I'm off to bed early (8:45) work tomorrow - DH now has this terrible illness, so he is rendered useless. Bah.

Andrea

jennye's picture

I DID do something!!

I got my desk mostly decluttered. Still 2 stacks of things to do (1 is mail and bills), but there is surface area!! LOL!

Jo, Chance hid under the tables of the concession stand first. Then he came out, head hung low, lip stuck out, and knew he had done a bad thing. Then he hid behind a door (and I actually had trouble finding him). I don't know if they do anything to students for pulling the alarm, but being as it was after school hours, done by a 2 year old, and done by a school board members kid, they didn't do anything to him. The superintendent just laughed, I think he enjoyed the excitement. Ch'ree was crying, I think it scared her more than anyone else!

DH is at Lions club tonight, the kids and I all had PB&J for dinner. They are all bathed (Chance was falling asleep at 6pm, too late for his nap, so I put him in the tub for a while), all in PJs, maybe we can all go to bed a little early. Or at least I can get more of Little Women read. Bleh. So far, I'm not that impressed. Did people really going around saying, "That's capital!" for something good?

Wasn't Heidi going to Florida for Spring Break? If so, and they came home on Sat/Sun. that may still have power outages from our Spring Blizzard. I know just NE of here some areas got 22 inches Sunday....She's "up there" somewhere!

evening

Andrea, how did the water and vinegar work out? Did it actually work?

Anne, I hope the rejuvenation works out well for you!

Jenny, that was only my second OB visit also, and my next isn't until May. I think maybe you're thinking of when I also had to get a referral to the OB from my school clinic for insurance reasons (just pee on a stick and paperwork), and also had to have a GI appointment (because he said to come by when I got pregnant, it was just a quickie though since I'm having no serious colitis symptoms). Anyhow, I think probably people did go around saying, "That's capital" but only in New England (and England, I suppose).

Vonnie, how'd the deep freeze clean-out turn out? I think I'd like one sometime, but not right now.

Jo, I'm glad your loan officer heard the banging on the door!

Hi Lenora!

I got a lot of schoolwork done today but not much else. Someday soon I'll be able to do more homemaking again. Right now we're getting into questionable territory with the laundry. I wish I could do it between 10 pm and 7 am, when I feel good and energetic and up to doing it, but the laundry room in our building is closed from 11 pm to 8 am, so if I start it at 10 and put it in the dryer at 10:45 I can't get it until I come home the next evening, because I have to leave at 8; and since I've had clothes stolen out of there I really don't want to leave them there all day long. I SO wish our apartment had a hook-up for a washer, at least. If it were possible to put a washer in here, I could at least hang things to dry.

Well, that's all the whining! I'll be able to do laundry on Saturday.

Hello Long Lost Friends!!!!!

Hello Long Lost Friends!!!!!

I missed you all soooo much. Yes, we were down in Florida for Spring Break and yes we lost power before we arrived home. So needless to say,we came home(after driving 18 hours straight)to a flooded basement,no electricity,no heat,no food,etc.. DH went to Lowe's and bought a back up generator and hooked the TV,fridge, phone, and lights up to it. Then, around 2 am the power was restored. Hallelujah! What a nightmare.

Florida was perfect weather, the kids swam every day,we ate out too much, and played tons of board games with grandma and grandpa. It was a good time, glad to be back now that everything has settled down here.

I only caught up on this week's posts so if anything supremely important has happened before then, please let me know!

PODA
morning routine
kids off to school
exchange at Walmart
clean up all extension cords(they are laying in a heap in the basement)
1 load laundry
plant some pansies in pots for front steps
dinner
homework
baths/showers

BOOK ALERT- the author of Secret Life of Bees has a new one out called The Mermaid Chair,I reserved it at the library and hope to get it in a couple days. I know a few of us on here read "Bees" so thought I would give a head's up.

PS. Becky with that laundry s

PS. Becky with that laundry situation,a baby backpack will really come in handy so you can carry laundry up and down with baby in tow. I remember trying to figure out how to do laundry in an apartment when DS was a newborn. Couldn't carry both him and the laundry basket at the same time so the backpack thing is a life saver. But you probably have that all figured out anyway!!

Good Thursday Morning!

It's not raining here, so that's something! It's very wet, but looks very green outside. I love spring when everything "greens" back up.

Had a bad "thing" happen to me last night. Around midnight, I woke up and had a taste like *vomit* - sorry if TMI in my mouth! I jumped up and ran for a glass of water. It was like a burning taste. Is this acid reflux? I had heartburn yesterday afternoon. After I returned to bed, I propped my pillows up and slept semi-sitting. That was horrid!!!

Yes, today is my cleaning out the freezer day. I dread it, in a way. But, tomorrow is trash day & I am not at my office this morning, so it's the perfect day to do it.

DD's hand is healed almost completely! Woohoo! I'm sending her to preschool sans bandages today. It looks really good.

My PODA:

* Get DD to preschool
* Put on "Gilmore Girls" DVD and start cleaning out freezer!
* Sweep floors after done w/freezer
* Call local EMA and find out why siren didn't sound during tornado warning yesterday
* Make calls to find someone to put "Emily's Mom" on the back of my team shirt
* Mark family calendar w/ball events and school events for April that I just got
* Call my friend who has MS; she is having a flare-up
* Grocery store for paper towels & anything else I'm out of
* Make grocery list/menu plan for the next week

I'm having a hard time cooking at home lately, girls! We're gone two nights a week, sometimes three with ball, church, etc. I am so unmotivated to cook! I'm going to incorporate several crock pot recipes this week so that I won't feel like I'm tied to the kitchen so much. This is so unlike me because I usually love cooking. Speaking of which, I need to add to my PODA to look up Rachel Ray's website & get recipes from yesterday's program. I love the Food Network!

Y'all have a good morning! I've got to go get my bed made and get dressed. Then, get DD up and at 'em.

Vonnie

Andrea's picture

That sounds really uncomforta

That sounds really uncomfortable Vonnie! Could be acid reflux, but w ho knows?

Heidi, thanks for the book suggestion. I am looking for a new book now. Glad you had a great trip!

Jenny, good for you!

Becky, the water and vinegar worked great. This Pergo floor is so much easier to mop than my old vinyl - of course it's still new and wasn't that dirty.

I'm at work, so guess I should get busy.

Thursday...been up for hours...

Poor Anna, her turn for the nosebleeds, she came in room, and whispered for Daddy, and Daddy took care of it til 5:30, when he had to leave..(he earned big ol' points for that!) and then I took over...the easy part, she was so, so tired, once the bleeding completely stopped...I just petted her head, and she feel asleep on couch.
So I am raring to go...think the sleeping in stuff was making me lethargic!
The kids are talking the morning off today...I am becomeing quite put off school...they are "done" with their grades, and doing lots of buzy work...so I am keeping them home this am, to sleep in and regroup here. Showers for all, and reading of books together.
TaDa
filled fishtanks
one load of laundry in washer
bed made
PoDa
dishes in sink
sweep and vacumn
Walmart for cheapie CDplayer/radio for my kitchen...am listening to the Yada Yada prayer Group on CD! Wonderful!

Becky...when I did daycare...I used to put the infant I watched on top of the basket...she loved it...when it was empty...she giggled as we went back for next load! You might ask your super for a key for the off hours...they might be kind to a pregnant lady Smiling and you would have responsibilties during those hours...Smiling
Jenny! I have always wanted to pull a fire alarm!
hand waving to everyone else...feeling a bit better today...now to get out of this uncomfortable chair...and move my frannie

Howdy,

I skimmed. Just wanted to let you know I'm out here still. I've been raking more in the front. Planted some perennial seeds around my mailbox. We got the grass seed in the front and back over the weekend, and last night DH and I were out there until 9 p.m. mulching with straw (had to do it before the big rains--so far today it's only sprinkling though). I really, really hope it takes this time.

I'm getting into this gardening thing. Always thought of myself as a lethal-to-plants kind of person, but now I'm starting to view myself as more of a novice gardener.

Stayed up until nearly 4 a.m. this morning. Too much caffeine last night. Oops! Watched director's commentary on disc 2 of ROTK and then read blogs and websites. Too much screen time.

Speaking of too much screen time, Jonah Goldberg is "highlarious" on The Corner today. Very grouchy.

I looked at next week's schedule and realized it's going to be a logistical nightmare. We have to have Anna Kate at the testing site by 8:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday. It's a 30-minute drive one way. We can't be late, or she has to make up the test. I have to take all five children and find something to do with the other 4 while Anna Kate tests. Gas is too expensive to run back and forth. Considering we are normally rolling out of bed around 8:30 and the time change has only made it worse this week, I'm going to have to do some serious planning starting yesterday. Sigh.

Well, I'd better get off my tush. The boys are fighting over the computer and I'm tempted to just turn it off as a consequence. I need to get the laundry through and homeschool anyway.

Love y'all!

Susannah

jennye's picture

Friday!

LOL! Well, it is here. We don't have school tomorrow, extra snow day built in, so the girls are spending the night at Grammie's. They will come by after meeting at the Seniors Citizens for game night (something they don't do but all the sudden think they should).

Anne, sorry about Anna's nosebleeds! What's causing it?

Heidi, what an awful homecoming to a great trip! Makes you want to just turn back around and stay in Fla! LOL! I used to live in Fla, loved it!!

Vonnie, ouch! Hope all is well.

The weather should be nice today. 72 with little wind (10-15). So I'm hoping to get some yardwork done. Clear out weeds by the other house and mow, mow all the mustard weeds around the yard here, maybe get the weeds done from outside the pens where the cattle are. Though I doubt the latter will happen, I need to do that one when Chance is asleep, but I have to be at the school at 1:15 for Ch'ree's IEP meeting. But most the rest I can handle with him. OH, I want to clean out the garage, I just throw the trash in there from the kitchen, and it's built up pretty good now. Time to dump all that. Would really like to vacuum the LR, finish the desk and bills, too.

Lots to do, better get busy!!

Good evening

Anne, maybe you should try going to bed early?!

Vonnie, I forgot to say earlier that I really like Rachael Ray! After watching for awhile, I bought her 30-minute meal cookbook and really like it! I am still cooking from scratch, but it is actually something I can do after work.

HI Susannah - hope the seed takes, that would be great!

Jenny, your kids have some great grandparents, wow!

Worked today and am feeling quite a bit better - maybe 80% of my regular self! I"m going to a conference tomorrow with the gal I work with on Bipolar Disorder - should be interesting and a change of pace.

Have a good nite all-

Like a House Afire

That'd be my house. We're in a hotel for the week -- within 15 minutes of returning home we had a grease fire in the kitchen. Fire department came and everything. We'll be getting new stove, new floor, and some new cabinets to replace the ones that are just charred firewood now. Luckily the tile backsplash behind the stove seemed to help keep the fire out the wall.

But there is soot clinging to everything in every room in the house and the smell is awful. That's why were at a residence inn-type place til the middle of the week.

This is just what our family did not need! Say a prayer for us, and I'll be checking in more later.

Shaun, I am so sorry to hear

Shaun, I am so sorry to hear that terrible news, but thankfully you and your family were not hurt and that is THE most important thing.

Well got my PODA done and then some. Need to work on IEP goals etc for DS. You reminded me of that when you mentioned it for your daughter,Jenny.

DH is working late again. I feel badly for him,2 employees of his called in sick a couple days this week and they are on a tight deadline as the customer is moving in this weekend, plus DH feels really crappy. But when you're the boss you gotta do what you have to to keep your customers happy.

Better rustle up DS for bed,DD is already in hers.

Have a relaxing night....

Popping in really quick to say Hi!!!

And Shaun you are in our prayers. I hope everyone is Ok and I guess if you look on the bright side at least you get a new kitchen???

We are hanging by a thread these days but surviving. I actually am having a nice glass of wine and enjoying some "alone" time until Dh gets home in 15 minutes. I am barely flying, losing things like my camera, walking out of sears without paying for things and having security stop me, you know typical Mommy stuff. Can someone please send me the organized, with it chick I was before I was pregnant?? I swear some days I am actually worried I forgot to do something obvious like put on my shirt. But I do have this cutie pie smiley crazy girl to keep me busy. So I tell myself someday I will miss tripping over Elmo at 7am and hearing him say "Elmo loves you, Elmo loves you".. I know I will miss it someday..

Ok enough whining. I hope you girls are all ok. Anne I read quick of your DD's nosebleeds, I hope she is feeling better. Jenny and Becky I hope you girls are feeling good. Hi to everyone else!!!!

A quick tada and poda:
~got keys made for my hosue and store since Dh locked us out last night!!!!!!!!!! Agghhhhhhhhhhhh
~called back my friend from college
~spoke to my Dsil tonight
~packed away some winter stuff I dont wear anymore
~cleaned out fride and wiped down the top and front of it
~started to pack up Alexa's stuff for tomorrow at my Mom's
~called my District Manager to tell her I am going to have to switch my days since Alexa cries the entire time at my Mom's and it is too much for her and me. It is killing me but I really dont want to quit........
Thats about it. I am going for my second glass of wine now.... hopefully I will be awake when Dh gets home Eye-wink

Shaun, I'm sorry about the ki

Shaun, I'm sorry about the kitchen!! How did a grease fire start? Some pointers maybe, so I can get a new kitchen instead of my ugly 60's one. LOL! Chin up!

DH is being an %$#@^%& tonight. Long story, I don't want to get into it again. I'm trying to kick him out to the sofa. Then some friend of his just sent us 13MB of jokes!!! Ok, if I had DSL or something fast, I wouldn't mind, I can always use a good laugh. But my dial-up speed is 14Kbps, VERY SLOW! Do you know how many hours that's going to take?! I just cancelled the download. Ugh.

TADA:
mowed around this house, about 1/2 acre in front of house, and around hired hand house.
Took out all trash from the garage (filled up the bed of my truck) and dumped it in the village dumpster.

bills. oops.

Girls are gone to Grammie's and Granddaddy's, it's 10:30, I think I'm going to abandon DH and Chance and go to bed. By golly, I'm pregnant, I'm tired, and if he wants to make me mad like this, he can fend for himself!! Sticking out tongue

Shaun, I'm so sorry to hear about your kitchen. Very glad to hear that everyone's ok, I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

Off to bed now, I'm pooped.

So sorry to hear about the fire. Thank goodness you're all okay.

Oh Goodness, Shaun!

I just read your post this morning & was so shocked! I am soooo glad nobody was hurt. Grease fires are so scary & they are so fast. What a pain that everything got soot on it! Ugh!

Well, it's Friday again & boy, am I glad! We have a semi-busy weekend ahead, but it's fun-busy. Tomorrow, DD's tball league is having their "Fun Day". We'll be there most of the day, I am sure. Our team has to work the games & blow-ups from 11 to 1. Our team will be introduced at 12 & have a home-run derby at 12:30. It should be a lot of fun, although I don't intend to stay until it is over which is "dark".

Today my Mom is picking up DD from school and I have an appointment at 12:00 noon! I'm having my eyebrows shaped and a spa pedicure! I am so excited. I never rewarded myself for my weight loss goal being met & I got some rebates in the mail the other day, so I am doing it!

Today's PODA:

* Get DD to preschool
* Work at office
* Spa appointment
* Do laundry so it's done for weekend
* Do a quick-clean of the house for weekend
* Make menu plan and grocery list

It's 6 a.m. so I'm gonna fly. I want to be sure & get my shower BEFORE DD gets up.

Talk to y'all later!

Thanks guys

Thanks for the nice words -- they really help! I am *hating* living out of the hotel!! But yes, the girls mainly think of it as an adventure. Plus they are watching a lot more TV than usual. Sticking out tongue

I do have to work a bit -- luckily my new "project manager" role enables me to scan the project and give it to someone else! So I do have a couple of weeks with a very minimal amount of work to do. Very fortunate!

We do have insurance, and although the deductible is pretty high (1G - more than we can pull out of hat!), I want to kiss the agent. They think of stuff that would never occur to me until several weeks from now.

Gotta take the kids to the breakfast buffet! Then dropping them off at another friends, getting keys made for the cleaning/restoration co., collecting documents so I can work on the dread income tax. Yuck!

Shaun!

Hey Shaun. I was on the phone this morning with my mom when I read your post about the fire. I am so sorry, but so very glad that you all were not injured.

My mother had a similar fire several years ago, and she wanted to be sure you knew that your NERVES will need as much "restorative help" as your home will. She said that emotionally, she was "covered in smoke" for about 6 months. Please be gentle with yourself as you get things fixed and settled at home....and as long after as you need!

Blessings,

Ahh, back to normal

At least on TNH. Now that Lynn got my graphics back to the old way, it appears I can post new content again! Change:bad, Old:good

Well, I had planned on transplanting some crepe myrtles, but the wind decided to blow, again, so I believe I will just stay inside and work. Take care of those bills. Maybe work on some other things around here. Maybe I'll have a TADA later.

Just heard my grandmother had a D&C and it found cancer cells, she will be having a hysterectamy, not sure on when. She had breast cancer back in 97, they removed one breast. Then last Thanksgiving they had to remove the other one. Now this. She will be 82 tomorrow.

BTW, did anyone see the news that The Wiggles are the wealtiest entertainers in Australia? Cool! They even beat Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe (who I can't stand, anyway!). Laughing out loud

AnneP's picture

Shaun..tell me the robovac is okay..

Smiling Sorry to hear the news regarding the fire...use all the hotwater you can at the hotel! lol
Jenny! these winds are gonna put me over the edge...I am hiding inside too, with a great book on CD! Funny, funny, funny...the Yada Yada prayer group...just great!
Well...flying..hmmmm

That's all for now...must get moving and groovin!

Busy week almost over!

DH had his surgery this morning, no more kids for us, or like DH said, "if there are any more your going to have some "splanin to do" Laughing out loud Me and the kids have a birthday party this afternoon, should be fun. I want to go to wal-mart after that. I'm going to try to make a quilt!! Not the hard kind that Jenny makes, but a quilt just the same Big grin I made some real cute spiderman pillows for Trey the other day and now i'm in the mood to try something new. Wish me luck.

The house isn't too bad. I'm sure DH wont feel like much walking this weekend so staying around here will give me a chance to get good and caught up.

Gotta run, see you gals later.

Wish I could bring you goodies

Meals, something, Shaun. I really feel for you. So hard to be away from the comforts of home.

Heap big rain come, and I about had to row home from the grocery store last night. The skies are still threatening storms, but by tomorrow it should be clear. Maybe I can get out and garden in the afternoon. In the morning, I'm going yard saling with a friend (no kids).

TA DA: Homeschooled; laundried; folded ""; washed yucky pants; cleaned up kitchen last night. SLUG: Up too late yet again. I hab a cowd in the dose. My head hurts. Hope I recover in time to be prompt, prompt, prompt for that unnecessary, bothersome, distracting test that my daughter has to take next week.

We're reading The Story of the Romans by H.A. Guerber (see the Baldwin Project to find it online, as well as many other free public domain works for children). I've been printing it off in sections. Anna Kate is eating it up (while Olivia couldn't care less). I'm eating it up too. I never knew much about Rome's early rulers. Why don't they teach this stuff in school? It's much more interesting than the stuff they do teach (social studies? bo-ring). War, intrigue, murder, betrayal, deposing of tyrants, legendary deeds, sacrifice for one's countrymen...engrossing stuff!

Also, we've moved on to Return of the King. I'm thoroughly enjoying that, too.

Meanwhile, back here in the 21st century A.D., much of import is happening in the Eternal City. I'm reminded yet again what an incredible time it is to be alive.

Love y'all!

"Some 'splanin to do"! Love

"Some 'splanin to do"! Love that Jamie Lea!

Home from my conference - it was good, but not great - really geared more for a medical audience than us lowly school psychs. The point of it was that many kids are misdiagnosed when they really have bipolar disorder, which up until now was not really diagnosed that much in kids. This guy actually did a piece on 20/20 recently and profiled some kiddos with the disorder. The lunch was fantastic!

I have an old college friend coming in to town tomorrow for dinner and the night. I'm a bit nervous, but I'm sure it will go fine. I haven't seen her in 9 years! Still have to shop and clean the guest room.

Andrea

jennye's picture

That was too funny Jamie Lea.

That was too funny Jamie Lea. Reminded me of that joke about the guy who always wanted the lights off. When she surprised him and turned the lights on, she saw he was using, uh, a toy. When she demanded an explaination, he said, "I can explain this, you explain the 3 kids."

Andrea, my stepbrother was diagnosed with bipolar last summer at age 20. They always said he was ADHD. He's the one that's in and out of trouble all the time and my mom finally had to put her foot down and said he could NOT move back home (too many parties, too many trips to the police station, etc). I think part of his problem is drugs (the illegal kind) and alcohol.

Well, I'm not showered or dressed, and I really need one. Was waiting for DH to leave so I could lock the doors. Never had to use locks until Chance came along, and they are just to keep him IN! LOL! I did do some cleaning in the dining room and snack bar last night, so at least that looks decent today. Got some laundry done yesterday, and almost done with bills (figured up, got the money for them, just got to print the checks and mail. But, I'm out of stamps, and the PO closes at 8am on Saturday, DH took my truck to town to get parts for his because his power steering went out, so they can wait til tomorrow to do).

So, I'm not really sure what today will bring yet. It's going to be windy, again, and again tomorrow, so most outside stuff is not in the plan. Except I'll let Chance out in the yard (I've got all the gates locked with baling wire). He loves to play outside. Actually he loves to knock over my bucket of pecans and roll over them with his big wheels. hmmmmm.

Super Flying Saturday

Shaun, I'm so sorry to hear about the fire! I know how scary that can be. Just so you are prepared, the girls may have some questions out of the blue later on. My DD4 went though a stage asking "Why did Daddy burn down the shop?" over and over.

Morning!

I have a vacation that same week Jo! Yay! We can look forward to it together!

Interesting Jenny - one of this Dr.'s main points was that these kids need to be medicated with the right meds - medicating them for ADHD or depression, whatever, will make the problem worse. He said it is most hard for the families of course - like your Mom.

Off to clean, etc. My old college friend is coming into town tonite - I think I said that.

Good Morning!

Beautiful Spring Day here in the Midwest. Did a little clean up in my flower beds, picked up fallen branches and sticks, and planted some pansies in pots for the front steps.

DS has a birthday party to attend at 3pm so DD and I may go to the park and library before we pick him back up at 5pm.

Thanks for the heads up Jenny. I am out of stamps too...by early next year stamps are going up to 39 cents. It really adds up when I pay both business and personal bills. May start online or call in method soon!

Andrea-hope you have a good Catch up with your old friend. How fun.

Well, better get some stuff done here before we leave. Have a really good weekend Everyone!

But now that I get some time at home, I have a yucky cold! Oh well. I'll see what I can do today. Probably some laundry if any of the machines are available on a Saturday (fat chance).

Gorgeous Day

The sun is setting on one bee-yoo-ti-ful day. Dogwood, azaleas and wisteria are in full bloom. Soft, cool breezes; warm sunshine. Yard sales galore!

I went with my buddy and we found stuff. I got summer clothes for Anna Kate, my front-runner who is always short a few (what a relief!); nice books; bubble blowers; a preschool game; good mittens and gloves for next winter (we never have them for the one snow day we get per year); and clothes for me. All for under $20. You just can't beat that.

So, with the yard sale goodies plus what my friend gave me a couple of Sundays ago, I had some sorting to do. TA DA: Sorted and put away girl clothes; all summer clothes are in their dresser and closet now, and winter in storage.

I just need to get them nice sandals and some sort of cheapo shoes to play in out in the red clay, and I think we'll be set for the summer.

We blew bubbles on the porch with the "bubble guns" and swung on the porch swing out in the fine weather. Smiling J.D. was enchanted by the turtle game (cute little turtles with lily pad cards--color matching game).

Anna Kate's anoles caught the mating fever a week or so ago. The male got a little too aggressive, though, and apparently this female was not fond of him. She stayed brown all the time, which is a sign of stress in a green anole. So we let her go free. [Musical interlude: "Born free...as free as the wind blows..."] Too bad; we wanted to see what an anole's egg looks like. Maybe we can find another female who'll be more receptive.

Meanwhile, our female outside kitty is preggers. Ah, spring. I guess a trip to the vet is in order.

So, anyways, glad to see that everyone else is plugging along. Hanging in there, Shaun? Jenny, your little asides about Chance are cracking me up. Andrea, how was your visit? I didn't even read the second page yet, I just realized. I'll go do that.

Love y'all!

Susannah

TADA

Got the girls clothes all sorted out. That took a good chunk of day. Helped DH move the tractor from the field to the house (well, he drove the tractor to the house, I took him back to the field to get his truck). The kids and I got the back patio cleaned and swept. It was a mess. Mostly Chance's doing. I have a bucket of pecans out there that haven't been shelled yet. He keeps knocking it over and rolling over them with his big wheels. I finally got smart and put the bucket in the garage. Also mowed before the winds hit. It was nice out other than that, they hit about noon or so.

Fixed homemade pizza for dinner. watched the braves win, watching a couple Metallica specials that are on VH1 right now (I LOVE METALLICA!!!). DH is already crashed on the couch, no telling when Chance will hit it. The exhaustion part of pregnancy is kicking in, I managed a small nap when I didn't mean to. Luckily, he happened to sleep for a little bit too in his bean bag chair in front of the TV. But I'm exhausted now.

Tomorrow is church and groceries while the girls are in Sunday School. DH is going to haul hay, so I guess I'm on my own with Chance (bleh. I hate taking him to church. The nursery won't even try to take him anymore). But I need milk pretty bad. Gotta get milk twice a week anymore, and I'm trying to just go to town twice a week. I already have plans to go on Thursday for a meeting (I'm on the rural phone coop elections committee, it's our meeting with free lunch at steakhouse).

Wow, heavy metal guys can be sweet dads. The singer of Metallica is at his daughters ballet lesson, it's so sweet!!! It's really amazing how lots of guys like that can be dads. Eminem is the same way. He absolutly loves his daughter, and adopted his niece. The "Mockingbird" video puts me in tears every time (and on an interview, it does him too). Whoops, off topic.

Susannah's picture

Hello!

Jenny, you have my DH's taste in music! Just goes to show you dads can be as devoted to their children as moms. Funny that we both spent yesterday sorting girl clothes.

You and I are also both out of milk. I've got to make a run for it today. I usually have to go back once or twice a week. Thank goodness the local store is back to its "buy six, get one free" promotion. Plus, they have the cheapest milk in town...even cheaper than Walmart.

No church for us, and I had nursery duty today. I got up, showered, dressed, madeup, put on "new" clothes...all for naught. I always feel really, really bad backing out of nursery duty. But J.D. has croup. I probably have the same virus too; even though I felt well enough to go I guess it's for the best I don't pass it on to babies if it's manifesting as croup in young children. DH isn't here and can't watch him for me. Somebody soothe my conscience for leaving them in the lurch!

Anyways, I guess I'll go plant some elephant's ears and caladium in my front yard. And maybe do some more raking.

Love,

Susannah

HI all-

The visit went well - she left about 8:30 this am, so it was short. Lordy, can that girl talk! I had forgotten...

The kids and I are off to hike with the dog while DH paints the powder room, finishing it up. He is still recovering. I'm much better, just fatigued.

Have a great Sunday all! It is beautiful here.

I even cleaned out all the storage bins and pressure washed the floor mats. Whew! But it looks great and smells great too, and I got to spend 3 hours in the sunshine and warm breezes.

We had a fire in the fire pit on the deck last night and did s'mores. DD was so excited!

I've never done the yard sale

I've never done the yard sale thing. I'm sure I could find tons of good deals, I just never feel like going to town for that. I've gone this many years without, I guess I'll be ok. LOL! Besides, I have a mom and grandmother and aunt that LOVES to shop for my kids!

We did do the church thing today. Had to take Chance, and while everyone around us was amused, I was not. But he wasn't TOO bad, we survived. Chance and I did walmart while the girls stayed for Sunday School, now back home. I found too many things I didn't need. They put pop tarts in the middles of the aisles, I couldn't resist (though I didi resist the Oreos there, too). Then strawberries were on sale. So I had to go back for ice cream and cake mix (strawberry shortcake!!). Then decided brocolli casserole sounded good, so back for ritz crackers. Yep, I didn't have a list, impulse bought. But now I'll probably only have to get milk when I go back to town on Thursday.

Still need to unpack the non-perishable groceries. But think I'll sit and watch the ball game first. GO BRAVES!! It's windy again, and will be again tomorrow, crap. And the Mets just got back to back homeruns and are AHEAD. CRAP!!!! ARGGGG!!! Think I'll break out the ice cream now!

Today was great - SO beautiful here in Western NY - we went to Letchworth State Park. Picked up a pizza on the way home and ate on the patio! Kids continued to play outside all day. Nobody's too hungry for dinner now, maybe pancakes.

Sorry about the anole Susannah - weird.

Jo, I think I can see you dancing from here!

Here We Go Again...

Another week is creeping up on me! This is one week I wished I could just call in sick every day! I am soooo unmotivated at home & at work. I don't know what's wrong with me right now. I know there is so much I need to do, don't want to do, don't end up doing & then I feel so guilty about it. Anyone else struggling with this right now?

That being said, I have a PODA that I HAVE to get done. Especially the registration thing:

* Take DD to preschool
* Work at my office
* Pick up DD's blue card from ped
* Find DD's SS card
* Deposit at credit union
* Register DD for k-5
* Laundry

Well, I need to go wake up DD. I'll check back in with you gals later.

PODA
kids off to school
morning routine
bank deposit
buy stamps
volunteer at DD's preschool last half of day
numerous phone calls
vacuum 2nd floor
1 load laundry
buy more potting soil and pansies
dinner
homework

3 nights this week I will be out. Not very typical here for us. Tuesday night is the monthly LDA Board meeting,Wednesday a friend is having a food demo party, and Thursday is DS Spring concerrt at school. Don't like to have that much going on during the week but that is how it goes. Mainly because homework sometimes eats up a good portion of the evening so it just makes it hard.

Better get the kids scurried out the door....

Have a Great One!

sounds exactly like reflux to me

If it happens again, start keeping a food diary and take an antacid for short-term relief. I used to get acid reflux as a side effect when I took prednisone.
