DH tossing and turning most of night, animals up and down on the bed. I gave up and got up.
Was very productive yesterday.
Swapped, rearranged and cleaned out 4 cabinets (do tops to plastic containers actually breed?) Had a whole garbage bag of cups, tops and amazingly baby bottles. Yikes!
Made another pumpkin roll, the whole family devours them. Yummy!
Tried some "Clone Cinabuns", they are waiting to go into oven at 6:30am. (probably another reason I am up)
PoDa (for the daytime hours)
fold laundry-start another
floor in kit/din/foyer
Walmart to buy drinking glasses (actual glass-matching set)
make some dough for homemade hot pockets (with BBQ beef and cheese) an experiment. I love this silly kitchen aide! Is the reason I rearranged all the cabinets, to have a baking area!
Well all, look forward to hearing about your day to be!

Good Morning!

Vonnie's picture

It's a drizzly, foggy Monday morning here in the Deep South. But, it is a *good* day for several reasons. One, we close on our re-finance at 5:30 p.m. today. I'll deposit the proceeds tomorrow & pay some creditors off. Two, DD has "turned a corner" behavior-wise. She has suddenly decided that positive attention is better than corrective attention and she wants to please us. It has been so great for the past week. She is a different child!

Well, it's Feb. 28, so I have several governmental deadlines at work, federal, state & local. I think I am OK on all of them. I have one report to finish & do a check and I am done. Then, on to other things that need my attention!

My PODA:

* Take DD to preschool
* Work at office a.m.
* Make list of bills to pay off & amounts to enter tomorrow
* Laundry
* Closing

Well, I guess I'd better go. DD needs to get dressed & ready to go.

Y'all have a great day!

Vonnie

This weekend was yucky, rainy and all around depressing for me.

Jana's picture

BUT..........we got the house back into shape. AND February is almost OVER!!!!!!!!!!!

TADA:
floors, sweep, mopped and vacuumed Thank you DH
bathrooms - scrubbed and swished Thank you DS6
laundry - almost caught up Thank you DS4

PODA:

finish laundry - is that even possible??

pay bills and balance checkbook

Vonnie - you must feel like you are walking on a cloud! Way to go!!!

Anne - I want a kitchen aid!!!!!

Waves to everyone else! Happy Monday!

Big Storm Coming

witchiepoo's picture

They say a foot of snow tomorrow, and I'm supposed to have Book Group here tomorrow night! Sad I want to plan and buy ingredients, but I hate to waste the money if we're just going to cancel. I'll have to come up with things that would work for us for dinner, or can be frozen...

TADA
DD's room! Phew!

PODA
dishes
sort dirty laundry
bring up/sort/put away clean folded laundry
sweep
de-clutter 3 hot spots: tops of fridge, microwave, and piano
sweep cellar
plan food for the party and get ingredients
fill the water jug and bathtub tonight just in case we lose power

Anne, I really, really need to do my cupboards. The thought scares me. Wanna come over here and give ma a hand? I have chai!

Vonnie, that's great about DD.

Heidi, your PODA reminded me I need to make some calls for Dr. appointments for DH.

Jana, yippee! March!

Have a good one all!

Off for my nap!

Rooney's picture

Whew! glad I did get up, the 2nd batch of Clone Cinabuns were heavenly, the first was yech! Smiling While I was roaming the house, I did the pantry and cleared out 2 more cabinets! My DH woke up and I showed him the pile for thrift. He told me I am possessed! ha ha
Jo, I would have come to your house and gladly done your cabinets for a cup of Chai, but snow scares me badly!
Jana-go get a kitchen aid, I waited over 5 years talking myself out of it. I use it at least once a day! I love it! I even whisk my marinades in it!
I am fading...good nite this morning

jennye's picture

My company is gone. Sad I could stand another week, at least. Especially with my Gram's buttermilk biscuits. They left about 6am this morning, I've been up since 5 (Anne got me beat there!). We did get the girls' room completely cleaned and went through their summer clothes (even found a box of winter clothes of DD7's that I couldn't find last fall). Mom took notes of what was needed, her church's clothing sale is in a couple of weeks. We did some shopping, I got to use my Dillard's gift card I have been saving for a couple of years. I had been waiting for black dress shoes to go on sale. Well, I managed to find THREE pair there for $36, for all of them! Well, two are black, one offwhite. Also got the girls Easter dresses (FYI, JCPenneys had NO dresses, Sears were overpriced. Dillard's had the CUTEST ones, and very decently priced), and Chance a cute set (kahki pants and Ralph Lauren shirt, which we only paid $10 for!). We ate out a bit, and since yesterday was DH's birthday (32), we cooked a Prime Rib I had been saving, along with twice-baked potatoes and brocolli casserole. Oh, and we nearly killed 2 buckets of Margarita's over the week. Mom and I got her wedding pictures scrapbooked, but weren't able to get to her retirement ones. She is a perfectionist and it went slower than I had hoped. But she is happy with the result.

No, I'm not pregnant, not that I know of. But I enjoyed the Margarita's while I could! Aunt Flo is supposed to be here this week (bleh).

Did I miss anything earthshattering?

I fell way behind on laundry, as Chance broke the vent on the dryer (that is my excuse). The house is fairly picked up. Chance is still asleep, he does love his sleep once you get him there. I want to move our firewood stack today, so the dog won't get into the yard via it anymore. He is so distructive! I took the carseat out of my truck one day, and he tore the thing up! I had to get a new one! He's lucky he doesn't get shot!

Well, ya'll take care!

Again with saving dinner

Tiff's picture

Since I questioned everyone last week about the new saving dinner book from flylady I thought you might be interested about the new site. One of the flylady's emails enlightened me to her email menu-mailer subscription service for dinner menus and shopping lists. She has a few 6-day menu-mailers for free on her site and I will be trying the regular first and then the vegetarian, but I'm most interested in the frugal menu-mailer and there weren't any of those free yet. Anyhow, it costs about $10 for 3 months so I'll have to think seriously about if it is worth it or not. I do far better cooking from the hip than I do following recipes and I may miss Monday meal planning. I do tend to spend a bit too much cash for groceries so perhaps the frugal menu-mailer would help. Apparently they will mail out every tuesday starting tomorrow. I'd love to know if anyone uses it and whether it's worth the money. I hope this wasn't too off topic. Thanks, Tiffany

About to Head to Closing

Vonnie's picture

In about 10 minutes, when DH gets out of shower & gets dressed. I am so relieved to do this. The other money we are expecting keeps getting pushed back a day at a time... I'm ready to get it, too, so we can get things paid off. I am going to pay off two with the re-fi money and pay chunks on the others. Then, when the remainder of the money comes in, I'll pay them off and just have one left. Woohoo!

Tiffany, I read that on the savingdinner website, too. I am intersted in it & am considering the 3 month trial myself. I am not one for following a strict menu plan, but I would like to see the recipes and what she puts together that's frugal. My menu planning is that I make out 7 menus and then I pick & choose the evening before, based on our plans (we have a lot of last minute things to happen) and how I think I'll feel. What I like about the Saving Dinner book is that no recipe I've tried so far has either had a lot of ingredients nor takes long to prepare. I keep doing pasta dishes, but hey, that's what I like.

Well, I heard the shower turn off, so I'd better make sure DD is ready to go when DH gets ready. I'll check with you gals later!

Vonnie

Lordy, don't let me sit too long in any one place..

Poor DH now has hives on top on his pneumonia. He is off for the next few days. I really feel bad for him.

Great news! A roof guy finally showed up and we might even have $$'s left over?!?!? I am not gonna spend it in my mind. YET!

HOpe everyone is doing great, was nice to see ya' again Jenny! Chance is gonna be a show stopper Easter morning! Smiling
Tiff! Great input on the Menu saver...My DH picked up the book last nite, and says wow, there are some good recipes in here. So I am gonna have to relook. Smiling
Vonnie! So glad to see good things happening for you on the finance situation. Were ya'll able to use the adoption credit on your taxes? That is a big amount also. Just a thought...very excited for you. Good plan and sticking to it!!!

Hi all!

Anne, is Winn Dixie like the movie we just saw?! Loved it! Hope DH is better soon, yuk.

Sounds like you had a nice visit Jenny! I think that if I could drink a few margaritas with my Mom, our visits might be better!

I'm off guys - work tomorrow.

Tuesday...

julhome's picture

Morning everybody--

Jo, how exciting! What kind of business are you opening? You just won't know how to act when you get such a huge chunk of your life back!

I want a KitchenAid, too. Made 1/2 batch of sugar cookies the other night. My poor old repaired mixer can barely get through that.

Andrea, how was the new church visit? That's always fun but hard at the same time.

Anne, I bought Luc "Winn Dixie" for his birthday. He read the whole thing in about two days. He really liked it. I hope to take him and Gage to see the movie, unless someone else beats me to it.

Another wild and crazy week here. MAJOR snowstorm the past two days. We got about 7 inches here, and today it's blowing and drifting. Next week is spring break here at the university. I'm hoping to take the whole week off. I'm keeping it kind of a secret, though, so that no one tries to plan things with/for me! Even the boys don't get those days! Well, ok, I suppose if their mom asked I wouldn't say no.....

Glad you had fun with your company, Jenny. I thought of you with the Dukes on TV, although I didn't watch any complete episode, just bits and pieces.

Later,
Jul

Went to bed at 8pm last nite, and out til 7am! Feel much better! Smiling DH is still sleeping...hope he does more of that today. He was doing bills yesterday, up on the roof with the roof man. Wore him out.
Yes, Andrea, this is the same Winn Dixie, I don't usually read a book to the kids that I haven't read before, but my goodness is this a great book. Even DH comes in to hear it. We plan on this summer at the hotels, getting the movies to the books I read to the kids. I want to read where the Red Fern Grows, but I can't get thru the end. My brothers name is Dan, and I just bawl in that book!
Tada
folded the boys clothes (put in dryer last nite), and they put away!
PoDa
my kitchen floor!
two loads of my laundry!
bit of crocheting...making a poncho for me!
**side note on the poncho's, I added fun fur yarn on the edge! quite grovy!
bless my home.
Porkchops marinaded. Applesauce in jar, and some mac/cheese for dinner! Smiling

Hope to see some activity in here today... Laughing out loud

Morning

Andrea's picture

Those ponchos sound cool Anne! What fun to have twin girls to make stuff like that for! I think you will really like the movie...

Julie, we really like the new church - I've been twice now and DH once. WE already know several families in it. Unfortunately it will be very hard to leave the old one - I grew up Methodist and am PK.

I got an unexpected snow day today - so am busy with my PODA.

Off for coffee with a friend (can you tell how busy I am? Big grin)

Not off to a good start

SusanY's picture

This morning DS slept in. Normally he goes to school a 1/2 hour to practice his trumpet. This morning we slept in a little. Still in sufficient time to get to school on time. Well, an accident on the freeway caused us to detour and the normal 10 minute ride took 40 minutes. So he ended up 7 minutes late. In hind site I should have stayed on the freeway, the accident had been cleared. I really don't like him starting his day behind. So from now on we will stick with the 1/2 hour early routine.

The first floor is in great shape, since I had over my Monday group of ladies. DR is completed with the exception of center piece for table. DH will be happy to see the decorating clutter gone. Need to work on the upstairs today. DH will be home on Thursday, so hopeful to have house in top shape.

DS teacher called and needs parents to help with choir pictures today. So I volunteered for 1:30 - 3:30, then DS has a basketball game at 4:30 and finally boyscouts at 7:30. Busy day for him and his "chaffeur (me)".

PODA
shower
cups in DW and turn on
make beds
laundry (2 loads today)
put away yesterday loads

JEnny, glad you had a nice visit with family.
Anne, well wishes to DH.
Jul, hope you have a great spring break. DD is out the week of March 14.
Vonnie, hope the closing went well.
Tiffany, I would try the sample menus first. My neighbor signed up over a year ago. She didn't use them much.

jennye's picture

I had a productive day yesterday. Got 5 loads of laundry done (as in all done!). Still have more today. The kids helped me move the cord of firewood. Even Chance got in on it, moving one piece at a time. The girls used a little pull wagon, it was pretty cute. I worked a little clearing tumbleweeds while the kids rode their bikes (Chance a 3-wheeler big wheel thing).

Today, I want to clear more brush (my wheelbarrow is supposed to be hidden in some, I think). A couple more loads of laundry, write a letter of recommendation for DH (not FOR him, it's for someone else who asked DH for one, but guess who gets to do it).

Jo, what kind of business?

Anne, I'm so jealous of your twins! I've always wanted twins.

Ya'll take care!

Snowy, Snowy Day

witchiepoo's picture

I still don't know if book group is on or off, but I am cleaning like a madwoman anyway. This is my once a year, pull-out-all-the-stops, spring cleaning. So even if the girls don't come, our family will have a beautiful home and good food tonight! Smiling

TADA
de-cluttered and swept cellar
down to four lods of laundry
dishes
counters
sink
stove
kitchen windowsill-yuck!
top of piano
top of bookshelf
top of micro
top of fridge
made black bean soup for dinner last night, yummy!

PODA
sweep LR, kitchen, DR, hallway
clean kitchen table and pledge it
top of cupboards
clean both bathrooms
make food: veggies with lemon-curry dip, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail dip, brownies, artichoke-jalempeno dip, chicken quesadillas.

I had such bad insomnia last night, the worst I've had in years. I didn't get to sleep until 4am! Grrr......I hate that. I mean, I understand with all the changes and trauma lately it makes sense, but why now? Why not four days ago, when I could have slept in and coped so much easier. Oh well. So it goes.

For those who asked, DH's business is a farm machinery repair and fabrication shop, and he also has a big tractor-trailer sized wrecker. We are going to a small business seminar on Thursday, which should be interesting.

Peace all,
-Jo

Good Morning Flyfriends!!

Tigerlilly's picture

or should I say afternoon?? We are still in our pj's and I think that is how we are staying Smiling
It has been a very very long two days but we made it through. Alexa was a dream baby most of the time so that helped a little. She even held her flower and we helped her place it on Nanny's casket. It was really sweet and I know Nanny was happy to see her laughing. Now I need a day to regroup. It is so easy to let everything fall apart Smiling

Thanks for everyone's suggestions with Alexa and her ongoing saga of separation anxiety. In my heart I know the best thing is to be here for her and that is what I have been doing. Instead of getting upset by it I have accepted that is her personality and when she is ready she will let me know Smiling She actually let a few of my aunts hold her as long as I was in view and she had some food in her mouth Smiling And like Shaun said before I know it she will be off playing with her friends and not want to hang out with me. So our new mantras are "this too shall pass" and my favorite "the days are long but the years are short". Thanks for your advice
Jo Congrats on your new business. I am so glad for you- you deserve it!!
Jenny glad your visit was fun. I think I need some pitchers of margaritas!!
Anne I hope your Dh is feeling better.
Hi to everyone else!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres a quick tada and poda mix:
~ran dishwasher
~one load laundry in machine need to dry fold and PUT IT AWAY
~finally put Sat's basket of laundry away
~made Dh a nice shrimp and pasta lunch before he left for work
~ALexa had her am nap and is now sleeping for her afternoon nap. The last two days she has hardly napped at all so need to get us back on schedule
~swished upstairs bathroom
~called work to make up some hours tomorrow
OK not much but I still feel like I was hit by a truck. I am going to put on a movie now and rest. Hope you guys have a great day. Hopefully I can control my stress eating and not eat the entire gallon of fudge ripple I have in the freezer Smiling Love Jackie

Good luck with that fudge rip

Andrea's picture

Good luck with that fudge ripple Jackie! YOu deserve a day to regoup.

Jo, wow, your house will be spotless! Cool!

Hi Jenny, you're such a slavedriver!

What a morning Susan, hope tomorrow goes better.

Had a nice coffee date with my friend (did I mention we have a Starbucks in town now, we are so hip!) Got home and shovelled a bit. DD will be home in one hour so I better go get some more done.

Andrea

Busy group today

Shaun's picture

Are we working a lot or just computing a lot?

Did some freelancing this morning, then took Iris to play at a friend's house while I did some more, then had a nice chat with a friend. First thing she said to me: "Can I give you a hug? You really look like you need a hug." Wow.

It's true, I am usually about 3 questions away from bursting into tears lately -- "How are you?" is not something anyone should ask me unless they have a lot of time! So many problems in the family right now, so hard to feel calm and at peace in the middle of the storm, even when I have faith that we will come out alright eventually.

Andrea, what do you think of Winn Dixie for a very sheltered, sensitive 5-yr-old? This is a kid who fast forwards through the sad part of Toy Story II and had to leave The Incredibles in sheer terror. She loves the ads for BWD, but I am dubious since it is PG. But I wouldn't mind going if it seemed reasonable for her.

Well, DBaby was up at 5 am so I'm whisking her off to nap and then settling down to work work work!

Shaun

Hola Girls!

Vonnie's picture

It is a cold but sunny day here. It is very windy, too. Not normal for this neck of the woods!

Well, I called DirectTV today to see why no one has called me to reschedule our installation (the guy had to cancel Sunday afternoon because it was pouring rain). They DID reschedule me -- without telling me! They are supposed to come between 1 and 5 today. I LOVE those "windows" of time. It will take about 2 hours, so as it is, if they come right now, DH will still have to miss part of DD's swim lessons. I am hoping it doesn't take that long, though.

I guess I fall into the category of "pecking on the 'puter" instead of actually flying today. I did clean up the kitchen after fixing lunch and I have a load in the washer & one in the dryer. Not much else going on here.

The closing went very smoothly. I had forgotten, though, that we won't get our distribution check for a few days. The lawyer said they would get it in the mail Friday or Saturday, so I should get it no later than Monday. I could have gone to pick it up, but that was a 120 mile round-trip drive, so I told them just to mail it. The other money is moving slowly, unfortunately. People are really eager to TAKE your money, not so eager to DISTRIBUTE it!

Anne, yes, we took that great tax credit on our 2003 taxes. That was such a nice refund! This year, I let Jackson-Hewitt prepare our taxes, after I had done a pencil copy. They got us about $600 more than what I had figured! I think I can go by what they did in future years so I can do our own.

Woohoo! The installation guy is here. Gotta run!

Bye!

HI all- I don't know Shaun

Andrea's picture

HI all-

I don't know Shaun - there is nothing really scary about it, just sad at parts. But it has a good message I think and a really nice ending. I'm not sure why the PG - can't remember any language. DH and I really liked the movie! Dave Matthews is in it and the music is great.

I made Beef Carbonnade for dinner - in the oven right now. Also sweet potatoes and an arugula salad (from a bag). Smells really good!

Have a good evening!

But, I have some news-- I had a positive pregnancy test today! DH and I are not telling anyone in real life yet, but I'm posting it all over the internet! Laughing out loud

Hello

jamielea's picture

Need to try to catch up with everybody, it's so easy to get behind, miss a day, miss alot!
We've been staying busy. Didn't do much over the weekend, bad weather but we did go to Mr. Gatties (pizza/game place) Sunday. Yesterday was a shopping day and today we had a homeschool field trip to Peter Piper Pizza. The kids got to go back and see how the pizza's were made, they also got to put the toppings on there own pizza's. Pretty neat and they all seemed to have a good time.
Today's Anthony's 18th birthday. I'm making Lasagna for dinner (his favorite) and I've got it all decorated downstairs Smiling We're just giving him $ this year, alot easier to let him pick out what he wants himself. Tony's birthday is the 11th and then Trey's is the 21st! We get hit hard in March. Oh and right in the middle on the 15th is our anniversary!

I know, I know, flying... The house looks pretty good, upstairs could use some work but not so bad. I'm having a Pampered Cheif party Thursday night so need to get busy and clean for that.

Andrea, I love the table, when do you get it?

Jo, Congratulations on your "new" job. I know you'll love it.

Jackie, I'm sorry to hear about your Nanny. Take it easy for a couple days, the housework will wait and a "attatched" baby can sure take it out of ya Smiling
I've still got an attatched 6 year old Jawdropping! Laughing out loud
He told me this morning while we were playing the "I love you more" game that he "I love you more cause I loved you before they cut your body open and pulled me out!"

Oh well break time's over, Savannah's awake, see you guys tomorrow.
Jamie Lea

OMG!!

jamielea's picture

Congratulations Becky and also to your DH! That's great news, I'm so excited for you!! Smiling

whoohoo!!

jennye's picture

Wow, Becky, that is wonderful!! Hope pregnancy treats you well! How cool that we all know, but no one in real life does. hehehe!!

As for me, Aunt Flo is supposed to be here tomorrow. I hope she skips this visit, as well as the next 18!!

Jamie Lea, Tell Anthony Happy Birthday for me! And Peter Piper Pizza is the Pizza People Pick!! (lol, I've never ate there, we don't have one. But I hear the commercials from Amarillo and Albuquerque all the time)

Oh, Susannah, where are youuuuuuuuuuu!!!???

Vonnie, I've noticed that too (money getting here taking too long). We FINALLY got paid on some hay we sold a couple months ago! DH said that when he delivered the last invoice to them, no one was in the office, so he helped himself to the notepad next to the gals computer and wrote (I NEED TO BE PAID NOW!!!). Oh, dear.

I'm a slave driver all right. Got the kids to pick a basket of pecans and there are STILL tons out there! Both my biggest baskets are now full (Cake and Market, for any of you Longaberger savvy folks). Guess I need to shell them now. Also found the wheelbarrow (eeww, it was full of some funky water), pet my horses a little, got Chance down for a decent nap (I ended taking one for a few minutes myself to get him down), rearranged tumbleweeds in various places before deciding to hell with it, I'm just going to burn them when DH has a chance to help. Got letter of rec. done, two loads of laundry done, but not folded. Got some 1099s in the mail today, yay for punctuality. Taxes are DUE today!!! Lucky for us, we don't owe anything, so we don't have to file by the deadline this year.

Ho, hum. I'm in my sweats, I've ate too much this last week with the company here and my jeans were just too much to bear any longer.

Congrats

Andrea's picture

That is fantastic Becky! Congrats!

Wouldn't it be fun to have two pregnant ladies here! (hint, hint)

Andrea

Wowee!

Shaun's picture

Becky that is such awesome news! Best of luck to you in the coming months! It will be such fun to be along for the ride with you.

Got a bit of laundry accomplished today -- including getting DH to fold some of it. And yes, I did put a load away! I am nearly caught up on the put away -- just a mostly empty basket of socks and underwear next to the bed.

Otherwise I have worked and worked and worked. I am sooooo tired of this project!!! I know when I finish this one it will just be another marathon for the next, but for some reason this one is especially irritating.

Gotta order groceries and see if I can keep my eyes open long enough to do a bit more typing.

Shaun

DH is still home, and to be honest, he is getting on my nearves. Geesh, he just sits, eats, leaves his mess and then does it somewhere else...aaargh....go to work! I am really ready to hurt him...lol...I am tired I guess, of doing all the work, and not very fair, as he was a saint with my surgery, but I need him back 100%! Growl...I was a grump to the kids this am. I hate it when I get like this! I am gonna go and regroup. I am all off kilter, cause my bed is not made, cause DH is still in it! I have to be all quiet in the room! Thanks for the rant room all. Steam blow!

Spring is coming, spring is coming! My Atlanta Braves e-newsletter is back in my inbox after a long, cold, lonely winter without them. Baseball is just around the corner, and I couldn't be happier!!! Can you tell I like baseball? My husband doesn't watch ANY sport on TV, but then I came along, got us a satalite dish, and have hooked him on just one team, my beloved Braves. It's going to be a great season: we got the Jones boys, Furcal, and now and great new pitcher, Tim Hudson. Schmoltz is moving back into the rotation, it's going to be a great year!

Andrea, I'm working on it, really! Laughing out loud

Today is town day, and not a moment too soon, we are out of whole milk and have been giving the kids yucky skim, and I just won't drink that crap. Think I'm going to try to take Chance to storytime at the library, see how that goes, it's been a few months. Also take some tax things to the accountant (which I'm really mad about! In most years, farm taxes are due March 1st. Since we didn't make anything, we owe no taxes and can let that deadline slide a little. But yesterday I received 2 notices that have interest paid to a bank, and two 1099s. Um, come on folks, these things should have been in long ago!!

What else? DH has Lion's club, so I want to fix something easy and fun with the girls. Maybe chipped beef on toast. Gotta get groceries, maybe eat lunch at Subway (healthy. No 12" sub for me, either). Fill up all gas cans so I can mow my dead weeds that I've been chopping down around the outbuildings (since I really don't want to burn those down). Hopefully I can get the girls to pick another basket of pecans.

I woke to a clean kitchen again. Feels good. MR is done, even hair and makeup done! Ready to go! whoohoo! Spring is almost here!

Work break

Shaun's picture

DH was kind enough to take some time this morning so I can get my work done, but I am taking a little break before moving on to the next thing.

Is it the impending baseball season that makes you sound so chipper Jenny? I have noticed that your posts sound so happy and relaxed lately. Is there something you haven't told us? Eye-wink No seriously, maybe stopping school has made a big difference, because somehow your posts just sound a little . . . different.

PODA
Laundry (fold more linens, finish cycle of jeans and Ts now in the wash)
Kitchen catch up (I feel a Papa Murphy's pizza coming on!)
Work and slave over nasty project!

OK, enough lollygagging for me. Have a great day everyone!

Andrea's picture

AAAARGH - I lost a post too Anne! So this will have to be short.
I hear ya on your DH - very frustrating when they can't do chores or anything!

Jenny, I can't believe you are out mowing, etc. we are still covered in snow.

Back from dentist with kids and now I'm off to have lunch with a friend then Cubs this afternoon.

Bye!

Andrea

Good Morning guys

jamielea's picture

I don't think we're going to make it to the park today, yucky rain. I could probably use the extra time to clean for the party tomorrow night anyway.

PODA
*laundry (2 loads)
*Round Robin in each room ( I guess I could call that a mini-blessing)
*homeschool
*take down decorations from Anthony's party last night
*work on invitations for Trey's B-day
*grocery store run for last min. stuff I forgot yesterday

See you guys in a bit.

Good Afternoon! Becky-Wow,

heidic's picture

Good Afternoon!

Becky-Wow,great news, happy for you, when would be your due date?

Today turned out to be a crazy morning. Got my usual morning routine done and then left to do an errand and my wipers stopped working, while driving in the snow!! Scary...got home and called DH who called the mechanic. Then he came home to drive my van to the mechanic and I followed in his Jeep. Came back here so he can drive back to work and I can put the car seat in the Jeep and use it today!! Whew!! All this during a horrendous snowfall. Then pick DD up and come home for lunch and the school nurse calls that DS has another headache. Back in the car to drop off Tylenol to him. That's 2 headaches he has had the last 2 days. He said that he's not nervous about anything at school, that nothing is wrong there. He has no other symptoms so I don't believe he is coming down with anything. Oh Joy.....

Shaun- are you gonna celebrate when you complete this project, you should y'know!!

Anne-can relate with the DH bit. Mine can do the same thing but is generally pretty good about picking up and stuff(if I leave his things around and don't touch them,he gets the hint)LOL

DD wants to play Candyland, better go...

have a wonderful evening everyone.

Heidi

What a morning Heidi!

Andrea's picture

We are still buried in snow here too - still have shoveling to do.

Had a nice lunch with my friend - she has gone back to work FT after being at home for 11 years! Doing well with a few rought spots I guess. I finished my PODA and am now taking a break before I do some scrapping. DD6 will be home soon.

Andrea

hello!

Becky's picture

My due date is around November 7, or so, which is DH's birthday!

I have not been home much at all lately. But at least I've been getting dressed to hair, make-up and shoes! Well, I was home a lot yesterday, but I slept.

15 minutes of decluttering challenge

SusanY's picture

Just finish reading flylady's e-mail. This month we are to do 15 minutes everyday of decluttering to establish a habit. I'm up for the challenge. I actually need to work on the attic. I'll probably have to spend 30 minutes to justify pulling down the ladder and climbing up there. I think I'll sort up their and then once a week have DH and DS move the toss, sell and give away items to the basement (garage) level. Anyone else need to tackle a large decluttering project?

Susan

Hi all!

Kiddos in bed and here I sit!

DD6 was a November baby Becky - the 19th. Gosh I'm excited for you! Have you seen a doc yet?

Susan, sounds like a great project to tackle - nothing major here - just maintaining - I guess my scrapping is the latest thing.

I will work tomorrow and at least half of Friday - then a fairly quiet weekend -

Have a relaxing evening gals -

Oh, it's been a long day, so

jennye's picture

Oh, it's been a long day, so it seems.

Chance and I got to story time, and what do you know, it's Dr. Suess' birthday! So lots of special books to be read. My history professor's wife was there with their newborn, and we talked for a while about a variety of things. Then we got to Walmart, where Chance ate 2 hotdogs right out of the package just to keep him pacified (you know not to go grocery shopping on an empty stomache? Don't take hungry child, either!). Stopped at Subway for lunch, and the accountants briefly. Meanwhile, back at the ranch (as my granddaddy always said. He never knew that would be true!), unloaded groceries and put away, back out to school, where I talked to a few people (I like to talk, did you know that?), got home and worked on clearing out old trash and weeds and mowing. Then I was just lazy the rest of the night. DH brought me a steak leftover from Lions (yummy!!!). Think I'll have some ice cream now! DH got in a 9, then right back out after packing up his bass, amp, music stand, and backpack full of CDs. He and his dad are going to another guys house just to "fiddle" around. I won't wait up.

Andrea, It's not green grass, just dead weeds I'm mowing. I have a fear of fire getting out of control, so I'm chopping and mowing most weeds. I'll burn the ones in the garden, since it is fenced in with sheet metal.

Shaun, is that a pun you were asking? LOL! "Chipper" is one of my most favorite Braves player! LOL! No news on the other yet. I'll get back to ya later when I have more info. I'm just excited that winter is almost over! I hate winter! Spring is great (except for the sandstorms and wasps).

Susan, I wanna be with you on the decluttering, really, I do. I just don't wanna! teehehe! I'm decluttering my weeds, how's that? Can we measure in cubic feet rather than pounds? Laughing out loud

I'm off to get my ice cream and start on Little Women that I promised Shelby I would read. She just read the condensed version, and wants to talk about it. Naw, I think I'll just play Collapse. Which one of you got me on that game!?

Time for bed

jamielea's picture

Susan, I'll do the de-clutter challenge with ya Smiling I don't have anything in my attic (every sense I fell out of it at 2 mts pregnant with savannah, I was trying to get the blasted Christmas tree) Laughing out loud but I could probably work 15 min. here and there threw out the house.

Jenny, I remember Collapse, I think that was Hope?
Ok, I gotta "almost" 7 month old on my lap trying to type, gotta run get her back in the bed. 0000000000000 See you guys in the morning.

Go Braves!, Jenny! We are fa

Vonnie's picture

Go Braves!, Jenny! We are fans, too. I haven't been to a game in years, but had so much fun when I did go!!!

Becky -- if I haven't already told you: Congratulations! That is wonderful news!

It's a dreary-looking morning here, but I don't think it's gonna stay that way. I hope not, anyway. I need some sunshine to give me some energy. This is my morning not to go into the office. I *should* do some major work at home, but I am going to get my house in order first. So, I won't get as much done as I need to. But, I am going to do some stuff this weekend. May even get DH to watch DD so I can go to the office where it is quiet to work.

We got our Bellsouth DSL installation stuff, but I am going to wait until Friday evening to install it. That way, if I screw it up, it won't affect my work email, etc. and I can get the computer guy to come Monday to fix it. Not much faith on my part, I know. But, from my experience, when I am told that it is simple & will just work great, it usually doesn't!

My PODA:

* Take DD to preschool & fight the traffic on the way back (bridge work)
* Watch "Gilmore Girls" DVD while doing housework
* Go through bag of clothes from cousin & look for some tops that fit better (4T's are too short -- belly shirts!)
* Finish laundry - put away everything & dry and fold towels
* Make menu plan and grocery list
* Clean out refrigerator
* Put something in crockpot for dinner
* Swim lessons 4-4:45
* My yoga class 5:30-6:30

I really want to get the house in shape for the weekend, too. Aunt Flo has knocked on my door & made herself at home this morning, so at least the "mood" has left. I know the family is glad!!! LOL!!

OK, I've gotta go. Hope everyone has a great day!

susan! I think the 15 minutes would be a good idea for me...I have been getting a bit SHE the last few days. I need a habit, not an obssesion! Smiling
Jenny! I love Collapse...way addicting. I too mowed the yellow flower weeds, (because they were as high as my windows!) The kids cleared all the garbage aka Walmart bags etc! As to baseball, the Braves were what helped my DH finally get into baseball when we lived in P'cola. But when the Nat league brought in a close team here we decided to start from the beginning of their history. So now my office/front room is purple and green with Diamondback gear thruout. (including the flag from 2001 World Series). I too LOVE baseball!! The team is a bit low now...but I got faith...(a little bit ha ha)
Jo! What a great preview of life to be. Very excited for you!
Vonnie! Yikes, the little 1/2 shirts are not my fav either, I've had to put the girls in 6&7 to keep them covered.
DH went back to doc yesterday...his lungs are clear! They gave him a note for two more days off work. But he is very relieved to know his lungs are clear!!!

Braves at The Ted

jennye's picture

Vonnie, have you gone to a game at Turner Field? We went last year and it was SO MUCH FUN!!! The gates open 2 1/2 hours before gametime, and there are cartoon characters running around, free face painting, shops, Tooner Field (just for kids, with Cartoon Network and poster making), and a huge pep rally with the Braves Cheerleaders and a drumline. We got free t-shirts, foam Tomahawks, and the cheerleaders got both my girls on the stage to dance with them. And all that BEFORE the game! There are also batting cages, pitching booths, and Braves Museum, but we skipped that stuff, it cost money.

DH got in at about 1am. This morning he saw the little bit of work I had done outside and was wowed! So, I want to get more done today. Some of these weeds are above my head! I need to update the website, maybe I can get that done today. Need to write my school news for the paper. Maybe I'll have a TADA later.

Chance is cute. Of course, you knew that. LOL! He crawled into bed with me about 4am. I heard his feet pattering in, came to my bedside, then ran out again. The was back, with one of his many toy tractors. The child doesn't sleep with a stuffed animal or blankie, just a tractor!

Sitter here, stand clear!

Shaun's picture

I don't know what that means but it rhymes. I have a sitter for a couple of hours so I can work, but of course I open my computer and I just *have* to check in w/ you all.

Jenny, I am the last person who could make an intentional sports pun! Not sure why -- my mom is a huge sports fan and my dad watches anything related to Detroit or Michigan State (alas, I am a Wolverine rather than a Spartan). It just never rubbed off on me. Maybe if I lived in a state where the teams didn't tank at the end of each season . . .

Susan, I am really wanted to do the big declutter. I feel ready. I think I need to set aside a little bit of time to get organized -- get some boxes, etc. I am really moving nonstop, morning til night, on this project! Was at Starbucks til almost 11 pm last night -- not drinking coffee but hoping that the bright lights and hard chairs would keep me going!

OK, speaking of which I'd better go. I'll let myself have another quick break this afternoon.

Shaun
"Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?!"

No Turner Field

Vonnie's picture

That tells you just how long it has been since I've been to a game! I think actually I was at a game the next to the last season before they started playing at Turner. So, 1995 maybe? I know DH hadn't been married long & we got hitched in 1993.

Well, I've got a lot accomplished this morning while DD was at school. I watched most of the Gilmore Girls DVD, but I skipped the episodes I had already seen.

My TADAs so far:

* Laundry - all is put away & towels are just about dry; had to put them back on for a few minutes, guess I overloaded them
* Went through bag of hand-me-downs and scored DD a few more tops that will fit - they are washed & waiting their turn in the dryer
* Cleaned up DD's playroom; I know I shouldn't, but our coat closet is in there & I couldn't stand jumping over toys to get a coat any longer!
* Cleaned out refrigerator
* Wiped down light switch covers and bathroom (thanks DD for toothpaste everywhere!)
* Made a schedule of bill paying; I'll get the hang of it after I start doing it online this month

Haven't done my menu plan/grocery list yet.

Well, I'd better hit the road to go get DD. See ya!

I need to do alot more work on it. I keep the family stuff fairly recent, but the rest of it hasn't been touched in about a year!!

What, I'm the last one to ha

jennye's picture

What, I'm the last one to have been here. I hope that means you all have been flying like crazy today!

I managed to get the site updated, clear out all the weeds and tumbleweeds by the cake bins, the old underground gas tanks that we don't use (there are 6 pipes sticking up from these, I couldn't mow much around them last year because the weeds hid the pipes), and by a couple of highline poles. Then I mowed these to chop them up! Still much to do. After I picked the girls up from school, we picked another 5 gallon bucket of pecans. And there are still alot out there!

I'll see ya'll in the morning!

day is done...gone the sun

Rooney's picture

Full day!
managed to get a shower before walking over to the school, got half way to school and my beloved dog, comes racing up. Had to go back and get her locked in. DH found alot of humor, he is feeling much better, took the garbage out today! Smiling
Came home and mowed the weeds in the alley's between our houses. Our garbage men come thru these alleys, is a nice break, you don't back right up to a neighbor.
Washed all the throw blankets on couches, and bathed the dog! PU, was desperate, and the blankets began to smell like her!
Made a boston cream pie! Big hit!
Girls in tub, DH finished while I brought Eric to piano.
***gotta brag here, the teacher was testing to check his sight reading, and she would play a piece and he had to say which music she was reading. Well, he did great, and than she played one not on the sheet, he said, you messed up, and named the notes she played. He wasn't watching her hands, he heard it! She made him close his eyes, and gave him a note and he named it everytime! I was freaking, and she was excited! I am a bit proud. She said he had pretty close to perfect pitch in his ear.***
So the day went good...that was just a wonderful thing to hear.

Becky's not the only one! hehehe!!! I took a home test this morning! We aren't telling anyone yet either, but I HAD to tell ya'll. After all, your just imaginary friends! Using a pregnancy calender online, I'm due November 9th. Of course it was JUST a home test, but the last three I took came out positive and babies were born, so, you do the math. And according to the ancient chinese birth chart, it should be a boy (planned that way). I think DH is still numb and in shock, he was hoping for a few months of fun trying, not just one time and BAM. oops, TMI!

And in other great news: I just won tickets on the radio! It's a fund raiser for a local gal who recently won Miss Rodeo New Mexico, and cowboy poet Baxter Black will be there. He's pretty famous around the southwest. I get to go the the pre-show, the actual show, and get a signed book by the guy. Very cool! We need a date anyway! The tickets I got are $50 each! Double Cool! I think the funnest part was teasing the guys on the morning show. They asked who my favorite radio person was, and I said Lisa (a good friend of mine who is on the show at 8:30). So now they are "mad" at both of us!

So, yes, it's a good morning for me!

I was going to work more outside and I may still. But now I have to go to town to pick up my tickets. I would really like to get some desk stuff done, too.

It is a good Friday here(no pun intended) and looking foward to the weekend. Got my PODA done and DH called and asked to go out to eat at a fish fry tonight so...no cooking for me!

DS asked to go to the high school pool(indoor of course) and swim tomorrow afternoon so we may do that before the surprise bday party in the evening for a friend of DH's.

Sunday DH is taking DS to the car show and DD and I will have the day to ourselves so I may take her to her 1st movie...Heffalump Movie.

Take care all and have a pleasant weekend.

Vonnie's picture

But, please, ladies, don't "pass it on" this way! My MIL gets so miffed when I tell her that I have no desire to become pregnant & if DD is the only child we ever have, it will be fine. Of course, if the Lord sees fit to allow us to adopt a little boy, I will be thrilled. I'd love to have one of each. My best friend is pregnant right now, with her second. She had Hodgkins and underwent chemo and radiation a little over two years ago, so this is truly an answer to prayers.

Well, DD is getting really testy. I shouldn't allow it to affect me, but it is really hard to concentrate on what I'm typing with her chattering madly at my ear.

I hope everyone has a wonderful evening. We'll probably go to the community pool at 7 (indoor) and play for a while.

Toodles!

Just kidding Laughing out loud Congratulations to you and your DH Jenny, can't wait to see that little "boy"!

Well I should slink outta here right now, all I've done today was nap (love having grammie here to watch the kids) the house really isn't bad, it was near spotless for the party last night so I think I'm good till tomorrow. Trey asked me if it was a holiday? Laughing out loud I said yep it's "mama needs a nap day"

Again congrats to Jenny and Becky, take it easy and enjoy!
See you guys tomorrow
Jamie Lea

Yep, it's the water!

jennye's picture

hehehe! Thanks for the congrats! Becky, I hope I didn't steal any of your thunder. I feel fine, not too tired, not sick or anything.

Been an interesting day. DH seems to be a little happier about the news now, I think he was just shocked that I was so fertile this time. He took me out to lunch at El Rancho, it was yummy! Chicken Enchiladas, beans, rice, and sopapillas.

I got my excercise today. DH lost his cell phone, but had hay to haul, so I drove out to the field to look for it. I parked by the highway and walked 3/4 mile to the loader (all we knew was that it was somewhere out there). I called it all the way, and found it fairly close to the loader (was on the fender. How it rode there, I have no idea). Now had to walk back to the truck. Well there was a cop running my tags! See, there was a murder yesterday and they were searching for a blue Ford. Well, that's what I have. He left before I got there, Chance was a slow walker towards the end. Then we helped DH haul some hay, went to eat, back to the school. And didn't tell ANYONE! I want to tell MIL, since she is my best friend, but DH wants to wait a little while.

Did pick 5 gallons of pecans again. They are breeding out there!

And that's it.

Heidi, I hear the movie was good! But, Chance and movies, no, I don't think so. We will wait for the video!

Vonnie, hope the adopting plans work out soon. Will he be from Russia, too?

Jamie Lea, yes, grandmas are nice for that!

Becky, I'm kinda relieved no more trying! LOL! Guess I just like sleep better than foolin' around. I know, I'm strange.

Ya'll have a nice night!

Jenny, my baby likes Mexican food too! Laughing out loud No, you didn't steal my thunder-- it's fun to do this together. And if I had three kids, I might be more sleep-oriented as well.

Hi Heidi!

Jackie, you managed to get a DVD player to last seven years? Ours are lucky to make it past the warranty. We got a more expensive one last week though.

I told my parents last night. They are really happy.

DH's boss is coming over tonight for dinner.

Jackie, just drink the water! It's contagious! LOL!

In real life, my SIL, 7 cousins, and the counselor at school are all expecting. Two are due this month, the rest in June. Oh, and the room mother from hell is due in June too (with her exboyfriends baby, but she is living with her ex-husband again. Not together, just living together).

Susannah.....where are you........

I'm going to do the things I didn't do yesterday. Desk, finances and bills. DH wants me to go to the dr. Monday so we can tell the kids and his parents, he was about ready to bust last night. The man cannot keep secrets. He does his Christmas shopping on Eve so he doesn't have to keep that a secret any longer than necessary. LOL! I don't want to see the dr. until we can pay off Chance. We have the money, it's just in the form of hay. Wonder if the drs. will barter? LOL!

And I'm going to be a slave driver and make the kids pick another bucket of pecans. hehehe! Ebay, there's a thought! LOL! Naw, I like to give shelled pecans away as gifts. I put a pound in everyone's stockings for Christmas. My stepfather ate his right away! LOL!

Sleepy Saturday

witchiepoo's picture

Well congratulations ladies!! Yippee! Baby news! I love hearing about babies.

I just could not wake up this morning. We went to the girl's basketball palyoff game last night, and my voice is very hoarse! Laughing out loud

Jenny!! WOW! You don't mess around, or I mean you mess around quickly...jeesh....congrads! Laughing out loud Very excited for you! Four is a great number for kidlets! But if you do have a girl, Chance and her would be so cute in the princess court! Smiling
I slept in this am til 9! Would have been longer but my momma called. Her and my Dad are on the move (RV Host) in Oregon! So their cell isn't alway good, and I miss our weekly chats. So I whined a bit about Tony being sick, and she verbally slaps me around...lol...and we laughed and got caught up on kids and our lives. Nice way to wake up on a rainy(yes, rain again! Sad )saturday morning.

I vowed to myself to clean these floors. I have WHITE tile! Do NOT get WHITE tile in the desert with 4 kids. But it came with the house, and it is beautiful when clean!
I took apart my laundry room. DH replaced dryer hose.
I threw away old fabric and macrame books(from the 70's!! eek!!) Had over 3 huge bags of crapola!
DH put up a cabinet for the keeper materiel,
Threw out and scrubbed down cat box YUCK! Refilled with nice new!
Then I scrubbed the floor in the laundry room, kitchen, dinning, and foyer! It is glistening. I got a swifter, and will see if that helps keep the dust to a minumum!
I am beat! But it looks very nice. I washed all the throw rugs and they are all fluffy and clean thru the house!
left to do:
kids bathed...for church tomorrow Smiling am gonna take a true day of rest tomorrow!

Everyone's excited!

Andrea's picture

Hi guys!

Yeah, Jenny! Like Shaun said, a couple of days ago, I mentioned how fun it would be to have 2 pregnant ladies around here and you were all "no, can't be me!" Did you have a suspicion then?! Glad you are feeling pretty well Becky! Like other Moms around here, I am pretty sure my baby days are done, though I did have a scare recently (I will be 40 in May), so it will be fun to watch you guys. I know a bunch of pg ladies now, esp. at work. In fact, our principal just announced she is 3 months along - there are several pregnant teachers, and lots of talk about "it's in the water" so it was cute the way she announced it at our meeting - "I drank the water!"

Hi Jo! Our pecans are expensive too, except at Aldi they are not too bad. Love a good pecan pie.

Hey Jackie - good for you on cooking lately! I have done a couple of curry dishes recently and they are great. I love Thai and Indian food, yum!

Well, I cleaned and cleaned today. DH and DS are at a hockey game now (college) and DD and I are heading for a game of Candyland. Church tomorrow and probably grocery shopping.

Have a good nite!

Andrea

Happy Weekend!

Shaun's picture

This is the 1st weekend in 4 weeks that I have not been gone all day long. Woo hoo! I did have to work a lot (new project -- better project), but didn't have to drive all over town morning to night.

I vote that Jenny send us all pecan pies!

TADAs:
finished an essay, plus did a bit of catch up on stuff not on the schedule -- yay!
made dinner despite extreme exhaustion
picked up LR (the toy half, anyway) and DR to run roomba
did a lot of paper declutter
cleaned up in kitchen

OK, not that much, but I got to sleep in and still worked several hours and played with kids, so I call it good!

Tomorrow:
Church (oh please oh please oh please)
Work (yes, I usually try to take Sundays off but I really want to be caught up by Holy Week)
Indian dinner
Declutter

Hmm, must be the Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade -- when I try to think about anything that might take effort, my mind just goes blank!

Susannah is really going to regret going missing after all this excitement . . hope all is well . . .

Have a fun night!

Shaun

Beautifuly & Sunny Sunday Morn

Vonnie's picture

It is gorgeous here this morning! I need to see some sun! I should be in the shower, getting ready, but instead I am sitting here, soaking up the rays coming in the window behind me!

I though I had my house in decent shape, but as I look at it this morning, I see so much that I'll have to do today. We'll go to Sunday School & church first, then I'll worry about it this afternoon.

Y'all have a great day.

Vonnie

Good Morning! Andrea- Indi

heidic's picture

Good Morning!

Andrea- Indian food is my favorite as well! I love Curry.....yummy

Hi Guys!

We had a good time at the surprise party last night, she was truly shocked and even cried. Lots of music, dancing, and food. Got home way late and the kids were exhausted,it is after 8 am and everyone is still asleep!

PODA
read Sunday paper
make pancakes
DS and DH off to auto show
put away 1 load laundry
drop off DVDs at library
take DD to see Pooh movie
come home and walk with dog and DD
dinner
baths and showers all around
early to bed

Ds has 4th grade proficiencies this week and next and then Florida here we come!

We are driving down to see my Dad and stepmom. kids will undoubtedly swim all day in the pool while I alternate between swimming and sitting poolside reading and sunning.....can't wait.

Gonna go read the paper and have coffee before everyone awakens.

Have a wonderful day you all

Heidi

bye-bye rain!

Becky's picture

It's been drizzling on and off for a couple of months here (of all places!) but not this week! Hooray.

Our dinner guest couldn't make it last night, so I was able to get to bed earlier than expected, which is why I am up bright and cheery at 5:30 a.m.
Cool

Jenny, my DH is having trouble keeping secrets too! He has told a couple of our "real-life" friends, as well as his side of the family.

Jo, I'm glad you had fun at the girls' basketball game. I like girls' and women's basketball better than boys' and men's. Probably because I used to play it. Laughing out loud It really helped with substitute teaching because I was good at intercepting the things the kids threw at one another.

Anne, I hate mopping! Last week I actually went and bought non-slip rugs for the bathroom because I don't mind laundry and I hate mopping. I'm thinking of doing that for the kitchen too. BTW I have white, not tile, but linoleum (or whatever they call it nowadays), and remember what I said about rain? Desert MUD looks REALLY bad on white! I need a mop made out of Mr. Clean magic erasers.

Andrea, you are making me want pecan pie.

Good luck making it to church, Shaun.

Vonnie, your house is in decent shape. If you go looking for things to do, you will always find something, but that's perfectionism talking.

Have a wonderful time in FL, Heidi!

TADA:
again, everything but the laundry!

Remember I said I don't mind doing laundry? Because of that, I sometimes leave it until after the other chores as a sort of "reward"; which means that it does not always get done. So today:

PODA:
laundry!
study for midterms
maybe make pancakes

I wanna be in Florida and go

jennye's picture

I wanna be in Florida and go swimming and get a tan! Heidi, have a great time!!

Andrea, yes, I did suspect when you said something the other day. But knew if I said anything that Aunt Flo would come immediatly. LOL! I did tell a real life friend last night, because we had talked about it a few days ago. I'm going to the Dr. tomorrow to make it official, then will at least tell my inlaws.

I can't wait to tell all my friends and DH's family. Scared to death to tell mine. Gram thought 2 was enough, and my dad and stepmother don't even like kids, and I know the first thing out of there mouth will be "how are you going to pay for it!?" They seem to think that they are the only ones that have any brains and that no one can take care of themselves, that they will have to do it for them. Stepmother even thinks this about her own sister, who is fixing to retire. She has threatened that if they don't move from Texas to Georgia to be close to them, they won't see a penny of help. Don't ask me why SM thinks this way, her sister and her husband do very well.

Anyway, we had a great time last night! The preshow was really cool, talked to Baxter Black for a little while, we got 2 different books (free) and he autographed them. My Chippendale dentist was there (nice to look at!), and a couple of others I knew. The New Mexico Rodeo Queen came up to me and said "didn't we have American Gov't together?", so I talked to her for a while, along with other members of the queen court (princess, Junior Queen, Little Miss Rodeo NM, who is 9!). The show was really great! We got back to inlaws at 11, visited, got the boy and came home. Jeff had to haul hay today, and the boy wanted to go too, so I'm CHILDLESS!!! Wow! Whatever will I do!?

Well, I have lots to do. And with no Chance here, I better get busy. Want to get some housework done, sheets changed, laundry going, and pick up, then work outside. It's beautiful and in the 60's, and I have at least 3 hours I figure. I ditched church, but promised I would read the Bible a little to make up for it.

Ya'll have a great day!

HI all! I am childless too

Andrea's picture

HI all!

I am childless too Jenny - DH took kids to see The Pacifier - I"m eating as I type and want to take a rest and do my Zone and maybe fit some scrapping in. I don't blame you for not fessing up so soon, don't want to jinx anything!

Vonnie, yes that is perfectionism talking!

Hi Becky - glad you got some good sleep! I hate to mop too, for the record. I did the kitchen yesterday and it isn't looking too good already today.

Julie, we are really liking the new church. I am guessing that we will join sometime in the summer or fall, though it will be hard to say goodbye to some of the old folks in the old church.
Bye!

Andrea

Good Afternoon! well the b

heidic's picture

Good Afternoon!

well the best laid plans often go awry....and that holds true here at my house!

DH woke up with cramping and diarrhea so he is in bed all day. I took DS to the auto show and DD stayed home with DH. I am glad that I never told her about the movie or she would have been upset.

DH is still in bed and I am trying to keep him hydrated at least. He is the world's worst patient though...

Need to finish the rest of my PODA

Later....

Heidi, I hope DH feels better soon, and I'm sending an envy pount your way about FL! Evil

Becky, you're so funny! I like women's b-ball best too, in fact it is my favorite sport by far, and yes, I used to play too (center). We did lose the game, but it was a really good one, and our team is super young (3 freshmen, 4 sophomores, 3 juniors) so we should be looking good the next few years. My neice is going to be a huge star, and I hope the first girl to have her name embroidered on the 1,000 point banner! Smiling

Shaun, are you still liking the roomba? There is a 20% off coupon at LNT in the paper, which is good on those.

Andrea, is Indian food hard to make? I love to eat it but am intimidated about cooking it. And pecan pie...yum.

Jenny, I'm glad you had a good grown ups night last night and a kid-free day today. What a treat!

OK, better go get stuff accomplished.
Love,
-Jo

pretty easy

Andrea's picture

Jo, I have not made much of it, but it is no harder than Chinese or Thai - gotta find the right spices in the store though.

Heidi, I forgot to say, that vacation sounds great! Much jealousy here too! Enjoy it!

I really want to spend my LNT 20% off coupon too - in fact I have 2 sitting here! Hmmmmmmm. What do I need (want)? I used mine on my Dyson and saved 80.00 in August, even though I think they weren't supposed to use that on Dysons.

Bye -

Andrea

Go for the Roomba!

Shaun's picture

We do love the little Roomba. Because we have to keep the floor picked up to Roomba, the whole house is cleaner most of the time. You know, that 5-10 minute pick up you really ought to do before bed -- we actually do it now. And it is quite thorough -- gets a lot of the dust you would miss any other way.

Also, I have an easy easy Indian chicken recipe for you: one cup yogurt plus 1 t. turmeric, 1 t. powdered ginger, 2 minced/pressed garlic cloves, salt, pepper. Mix, slather on 4 bone-in skinless split breasts, cook at 475 for about 30-35 minutes (until internal temp is 160 degrees). Serve with basmati rice and some cauliflower and peas tossed with curry butter (melted butter + curry powder), or whatever veg you like. So simple! If you are making a complicated rice or veg dish you could add the chicken as an easy accompaniment.

TADAs:
Made it to church! (Thank you Becky)
Walked to new zoo visitor's center for coffee with DH and girls -- lovely weather, no coats! (may have gotten over 50!)
Did a lot of writing
Some laundry put away
Load of delicates (sweaters -- gotta love the front loader)
Indian dinner
Pulled some clothes from girls closet -- start of decluttering

Also yesterday I cleaned the heck out of the kitchen!

Tomorrow I talk to someone about being a Project Manager for the books that I research/write/edit for. So I would oversee the whole pre-print process from research to writing to galley proofing. Scary!! But I think now is a good time for me to inch forward a bit with this. Hopefully in the fall Iris will have preschool two mornings a week, which will free up a bit more time.

Otherwise, just more declutter, especially paper and clothes.

See you in the new thread!

Shaun

Have fun with the spring cleaning.

Oh Yes!
