Putting my Mouth where my Heart is.
As most of you know, I have adopted 4 children through the state foster care system. I have become quite the spokesperson here in my hometown for foster/adoption. I volunteer for our social worker at her foster trainings. I want to get the word out regarding the thousands of waiting children here in the United States.
There is a stigma put on children because they are labeled "special needs". I am advocating that these kids have special factors! There are different circumstances to the label "special needs". The fact that kids are a sibling group or of a race other than caucasion is considered special need. The term special needs brings to mind, children in wheel chairs and high maintenence illnessess. Although there are children with these factors, there are many healthy children also that just need a home.
Today, I did my training for Adoptnet.org, to be a on-line chat moderator for special needs/factor adoptions. I am so excited.

Foster Care
DH and I are starting our Foster Care classes her in AR next week. I am really looking forward to starting foster care and I think it is wonderful that you are an advocate. Those voices need to be heard! We are planning on fostering "special needs" kids as well. Sibling groups, or another race, or whatever God has planned for us. I would like to keep in touch with you as I will have many questions in the near future.
Thank you for all you do!
