Monday
ate breakfast - PB&J and had a sip or 2 of DP.
I am having hunger issues so I need to come up with some things to eat in the evening. I think we eat to early and then I am hungry when I go to bed or starving when I wake up.
Going to the store today for groceries so I will pick up some healthy snacks to help with that.
Happy Day!
Jana
Morning
It's Monday, my best day of the week
.
The house is calm and quiet and I can regroup and get some focus happening.
We've been busy here, which means I've not had much time to think about snacking. Nor have I had access to easy to grab naughty snacks. if anything we may not have had enough to eat over the weekend.
I have been good about having my breakfast, and have had at least one cup of green tea a day, sometimes two. Most days I remember my vitamins, and I booked my yearly medical on Jan 26th. I am a good girl. Now if only I could put myself to bed earlier.
Cereal for breakfast this morning, and I'll have salmon & vegies for lunch. I've not decided on supper yet. Groceries are getting low so I'll have to see what I could throw together. Toasted denvers perhaps? I do have some ham and eggs.
I can't find my treadmill! I mean I *really* can't find the treadmill
. It got buried under packing, moving boxes, and house repair supplies. That problem is for a different thread though.
Jana, some protein snacks could really help curb your hunger pangs. Some cold leftover meat to nibble on(chickens great), some hard boiled eggs ready to munch, some pb on crackers, some nuts(portion control), some cheese(portion control). Anything protein helps *alot*.
Must get busy here....I'm excited about this week, but again, that's for the dejunking thread. Later gals.
Monday!
Staying with-in my points...more later!
Blessings,
Lenora

Trying again
Missed my AM exercise -- DD5 woke up sick at around 3:30, and I just could not haul myself out of bed again at 6. I have done some serious housework and have more to do, and plan to do at least 10 minutes of dancing around after kids' naps are over.
Keeping track of points the last few days pretty well. And healthy food today: I had some soup to defrost, and a slice of PB toast, so lunch was OK. I'm thinking whole wheat spaghetti with spinach sauce for dinner. The nice thing about WW spaghetti is that portion control is a lot easier than with plain white! (I've also heard that if you buy fancier pasta and cook it al dente it seems more substantial and usually has a substantially lower glycemic index, for those who follow such things.)
Made a pot of tea rather than coffee today. I think my tummy (and related parts) is finally objecting to my daily coffee habit. I was reading terrible info about barium enemas and colonoscopies yesterday (something I will undergo soon enough, as I am at fairly high risk for colon cancer, and am technically overdue for my first), and it was enough to make me think I could suffer the trials of enjoying coffee kind of like alcohol -- a few times a week, but not daily.
Good luck finding that treadmill, Hope!
Jana, sometimes if I have eaten enough for the day but still want a little something in the evening, I have a good caffeine-free tea with a splash of milk and honey. Celestial Seasonings makes a tea called Bengal Spice that is kind of like chai.

I'm in..
I had a girlfriend come over today...she found the cutest outfit...she said, "Anne, I saw this and it said, buy me for Anne, so I did, it's capri's so you can't wear it for a while, but it is soooooooo you!" I have never had anyone do this. Isn't it sweet, she is a great friend.
It is the most adorable outfit. Bright pink capri's, with over shirt and white under tank top, all with sparkly flowers that go together with bright yellows, greens and matching pink! I love it.
It is too small! I almost cried! It is pre-hysterectomy size. I haven't exercised in over 3 months...my water drinking has lapsed. I am gonna wear this outfit for my DH's birthday in June. I can do this...and I will be good! I will post a picture of me in it...I'll do a before and after in it!!

Worn out!
that's where my New Me's at for today... I can't keep up with DS and the wet beds every night.
Anne, that sounds like the perfect motivation - your friend has really done a brilliant job. I hope it's only the kind of too small that it's reasonable for you to get into, not REALLY too small. How's your post-op body recovering?? Remember you should probably be gentle with it for longer than you think. Even after pregnancy the body doesn't really recover fully for at least a year (without extended breastfeeding) so be careful post-op even if you think your body's 'back to normal'!
Shaun, all I can do is sympathise on the barium stuff and the scoping. It's not a joy, but as long as the drugs are good you might be able to pass out like I did for the scope! Coffee is definitely not gentle on the digestive system, so if you can find a way to reduce it that might be helpful. Won't stop you being at risk, but it's not a fun area to have go wrong!! (says the person who's off to get another glass of Coke! - do as I say, not as I do!).
I'm all used up today... catch up with you when I'm not so seriously sleep-deprived.
Kerri.
Thank you Kerri
You said that very sweetly.
It is a bit snug. That is why I am giving myself almost 6 months. My doctor has cleared me for hiking/walking, but I know my body, and I will not push myself. Relapse with this is not pretty. I can only do so much, but I refuse to "diet" without exercise.
I can put the outfit on, but it would not be very cute.
We watch our portions, and move.
Another girlfriend and I are interested in Weight Watchers...we haven't gone yet.
But..
Today...my goals
Drink 2 bottles of water.
Walk 20 minutes at foothills
Portion control!

Portion control
Does anyone else make enough of a meal to last for two dinners and then eat the lot on the first day?
Today I had toast and marmalade for breakfast. No butter (I wasn't being virtuous, we ran out yesterday!) Lunch was a minestrone cuppa soup and several pieces of toast - no butter again. For dinner I am cooking chicken kiev from a box, with flavoured rice from a packet, and canned corn. Feeling lazy! Also my supplies of interesting stuff are running low.
Oh, today I came across a good poem for the coffee lovers amongst us
COFFEE IN HEAVEN, by John Agard
You'll be greeted
with a nice cup of coffee
when you get to heaven
and strains of angelic harmony.
but wouldn't you be devastated
if they only serve decaffeinated
while from the percolators of hell
your soul was assaulted
by Satan's fresh espresso smell?
Portion Out-of-Control!
I have absolutely no self-control with favorite foods. I'm horrible with leftover portions and rarely make enough to have a second meal for that very reason: when time for the second meal...the leftovers are gone!!!!
I have to buy snack foods that I don't like in order to be able to resist eating too much. The one blessing, though, to being a picky eater is that I am NEVER tempted to munch on something I don't really like just because it's in the house. When I buy snacks/treats (not often) I just choose something I don't like! Temptation gone! I can walk by a plate of chocolate chip cookies all day long and not touch it...but put a plate of peanutbutter cookies out and you'd better watch your fingers or I might accidentally nip one if it gets in my way!
Tomorrow is my weekly weigh-in. I've resisted getting on the scale here at home for a couple of reasons: 1.) It's "fat-and-cranky week" for me, and 2.) I've just about quit smoking and fear that any upward movement on the scale will either have me chain smoking or eating my way through the nearest Mini-Mart's candy aisle.
Anne, I've got my first "target" outfit hanging where I see it every day! (A red Valentine's Day Dres.)...and yes...I do intend to actually WEAR it...(as opposed to not wearing it
)
Have a great Tuesday, friends!
Blessings,
Lenora

Drinking water as we speak.
Ate breakfast this morning and am trying to hold off for lunch with a couple of toosie rolls!
I got some healthy snacks to bring to work with me and some to have before bed if I need to.
I have been taking my medicine, which is one thing I wanted to get better about. I would usually forget and it would turn into every other day instead of every day!
Not much on exercising......my downfall!
Check back in later!

Pretty Good Week
So Far!
I have been eating well thanks to the handy and available fruits and veggies I bought, cut, and bagged.
Not great on the water......OK, I just refilled my bottle (32oz)
I also planned and prepped dinners for this week which is so important for me. If I have to wait too long and get really hungry, I will really overeat very unhealthy things.
I got on the scale yesterday and have lost 4 pounds, which I know part of is water weight, but it still feels really good.
No exercise, knee still too sore to even walk on the treadmill. I did do a really deep, long stretch yesterday and today though.
Bye!
-Jo
are you taking aspirin?
My doctor told me to take painkillers (Tylenol in my case) to make the knees stop hurting enough to exercise, then exercise, and keep doing that my whole life and it would slow any kind of arthritis progression. I have arthralgia not arthritis so far, but he said it was recommended for both.
We walked!!!
We have a lovely paved walking area, in the foothills of our little town...It is 1 1/2 miles of up and down trail in a large circle. The girls took their scooters and laughed all the way...we go at 10am, then the "serious" walkers are all gone, and my dog can run free after the numerous rabbits.
But, had two cups of chai, with girlfriend that popped in on her walk!
I am working hard on my water. Still on first bottle.

Still tracking
DDs illness persists, so things are tough and sleep-deprived around here, but I am doing pretty good on my tracking and eating. I did eat unknown quantities of graham crackers at the Dr.s office this morning -- I had not been able to get any caffeine after rising around 3 am with sick child, and I think my body was seeking energy in any form. Back to normal now.
No exercise this morning, obviously, but tap tonight. I mean it!!
I think I need to find my sexy outfit to eke into on V.day and get motivated!
Shaun

Men's weight loss vs women--Not fair
DH lost 5# last week, and I lost 2# (total now of 4# in 2 weeks). I must remember that this is not a competition. He has greater muscle mass and more weight, so his weight loss will be quicker. (Not fair
)
I have been pretty good with sticking to my 1400 calories and I made it to the YMCA 4 days last week, worked out at the hotel over the weekend and back to the Y yesterday. I even worked in 1/4 of a dessert at Ruby Tuesday for my birthday lunch.
I'm still having trouble drinking enough water. But, I'm sure this too will come with time and planning.
Speaking of planning, I am trying out a new software called Living Cookbook (www.livingcookbook.com). You can use it 25 times for free. I wanted a cookbook analysis software for my birthday. It allows you to enter your own recipes, plan meals, track your pantry, freezer, refigerator items, compile grocery lists, calculate cost of meals and nutritional analysis and also points for the Weight Watchers. It's a little difficult at first but I think it's going to be great. I've planned 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 35 dinners on paper. Now to enter it in the software and make it balance for my calorie level and keep up the fiber and down the fat.
Congratulations to all the success this week.
Susan
ummm....
well I took my tablets. And it's only 10am, so compared to normal that's pretty good for me.
Probably because I had such an AWFUL day yesterday. I won't give you the details, but the only remotely useful thing I ate all day was the moussaka for dinner. I ate lots of serious junk food, slept a lot and didn't even care very much about it. I'm guessing Flo's sneaking around my house too, along with the continuing sleep deprivation. I could almost wish DS was back on holiday because he was dry for most of the holidays and wet again once he started back at school - anybody feel like psychoanalysing that one??
So ok, I haven't eaten breakfast, but I'll eat lunch, minimise the junk and throw salad with dinner. And I have a jug of water on my table, a cleanish glass to drink from and maybe I can use them both today!
and at least I don't drink (not much), don't smoke, don't drink coffee and am approximately the right weight for my height. It's a good place to start from, and something I should remember to be proud of, even when I have the occasional dire fall from grace, and many more lacklustre days. We all have our problem areas, right? Just because I don't smoke and never have I forget that it's something I can be proud of, just as Lenora can be proud of her lack of interest in chocolate chip cookies. Can I trade you some chocolate chip fr some peanut butter sometime Lenora?? I can't stand peanut butter or anything made with bashed up nuts!
Anne, that outfit sounds to be exactly the size I was thinking of. The kind where it sort of fits, but doesn't look exactly like you'd want it to, rather than being 4 sizes too small!
You don't need to be crash dieting just to fit in a pretty outfit!
Speaking of which, I suppose I'd better check that my red satin dress fits me for the Company dinner at the end of February. I'm not buying anything new - I have loads of fancy dresses these days - and nobody'sreally seen this dress in years, so I'm hoping thy'll have forgotten it, or that most of the staff have moved on, though I know there are plenty who haven't. That's the problem of striking dresses as opposed to the boring blacks - you can't wear them again for the same people for years. I wore this one when DD was 6mths old, for my eldest BIL's wedding (which involved most of the staff at the Company too!)
got lots of emails, including info from Honey about Jamie Lea's DH - YAY!
Kerri.
just a quick one
I drank my water! Yeah me..
heck Kerri-4 sizes! Yikes! I gotta eat!?!

Busy day...realistic goal
Toting my water all day. Get them down, and try to work in a little walk.

Sexy clothes?
Morning all
.
I don't think I have any sexy clothes that I could squeeze into by Valentines Day. I know the experts say that we should have lovely clothing that makes us feel sexy regardless of what size we are. BUT....really....I just can't seem to make that happen. I have trouble buying utility clothes that I feel good about, let alone a siren outfit. It's a self image thing I guess. I try things on at the store and just think "YUK", never "how hot is that" . Sad but true, I don't find plump sexy, and I am definately plump.
I suppose I should do something about that eh? Exercise perhaps? I found my treadmill yesterday, just can't unfold it until I move some stuff. Which I can't do until I create a place to move it to. I'll work on that today.
And now I'm off to eat the breakfast I forgot to have before I jumped on here. Cereal this morning, and no plan yet for the rest of the day.
I'm cheering you all on....may you look and feel *HOT* come Valentines Day
.
Good news, bad news
Good news: I'm down 4 1/2 pounds from my holiday peak!
Bad news: I missed tap last night beause on my way out the door I slipped on the ice and injured my tailbone.
Nothing to do but lay around and try not to eat out of boredom.
Hi to all -- can't keep sitting much longer!
Shaun

Life Is Hectic!
I am finding it harder & harder to work my water in. I'm not tired with it or bored, but I just can't drink 16 oz. when I'm out and about because I ALWAYS have to find a bathroom. But, today is an at-home day for me, so I'll get my 64 in today!
I'm right on track with my weight goals, so I'm sticking with my goal date of 5/31/05 for 51 pounds of loss (I started 11/29/04, so that is "right on" with 2 pounds per week average).
I walked on the treadmill Monday and Tuesday evenings. I also went to my first yoga class last night. It was great! I am very excited about it. I will only make it one night this week, but I will probably make it two nights next week. DH is going on a business trip Friday evening through Sunday evening, so I won't get my treadmill work in this weekend. I will probably do a workout video while DD naps to get it in at least one of the three days.
I am not very motivated today. I thought I would scrapbook, but I am just not in the mood to do that. I just put it all up. I am doing laundry and will sweep in a moment, but I think I'm going to spend the day (my Mom is picking up DD from school) just focusing inward and contemplating my goals, where I'm going, etc. I will probably go get on the treadmill this afternoon, though.
I hope everyone has a NEW YOU kind of day!
Vonnie
11.20pm
I will be in bed before midnight, I WILL be in bed before midnight....
Just passing through on my way to bed
Sorry about your tailbone, Shaun - sounds painful. I fell off a spacehopper in July (one pf DS' birthday presents!) and came crashing down on my tailbone, and it still sometimes hurts even now. I hope yours feels better soon.
Bad eating day today so I'm not telling what I had! Suffice it to say none of it was a meal. Tomorrow I am hoping to make chicken cacciatore in the slow cooker, if I can get myself motivated to throw it all together before I go out. Busy day tomorrow!
Off to bed...(honest)
Go to bed, Honey!
Shaun - sorry for the tailbone accident. That can NOT feel good. I wish I could make you dinner to bring to you.
Eating today went well. 2 bowls of Special K, sandwich with chips, eggs and pancakes, one coke and no water. Guess I need to work on that!
Jana
Ow!
I broke my tailbone when I was 13 and I still feel it sometimes. That was up there with the worst pain I ever had, including during illnesses requiring hospitalization. (Yeah, yeah, I know, it's all nothing until I have a baby.)
Breakfast: 2 blueberry muffins and a piece of salmon.
Snack: mocha and a shortbread cookie
Lunch: pumpkin soup (nonfat, homemade)
Dinner will be spinach casserole from Saving Dinner. Probably more than the proper serving amount, but oh well.
I Don't Know, Becky...
I thought gallstones were worse than labor, so I'd guess a broken tailbone could be about that painful, too! I'm sorry, Shaun, about your fall...I hope it quits hurting quickly!
I passed the "first 5 pounds off" mark at WW today...got my little star and bookmark!
I did fine with my points today...but had them used up by 5:00 pm. Aunt Flo is due at any time and my appetite was anticipating the visit, I think
The high-schoolers only have a half-day tommorow, and all the kiddos are off on Friday. I'll have a housefull of freshmen from about 11:00 tomorrow on!
I'll see you all tomorrow, I expect.
Blessings,
Lenora

Oh, That Hurts!
I slipped on ice and did the same thing once, it still hurts just thinking about it.
OK.
Water-check
exercise-Nope
food-plain oatmeal and no sugar added applesauce; a grilled chicken cobb salad; turkey, sugar snap peas, potatoes, milk; and then a cookie icecream sundae! Ack! I didn't even want it either, I was just mad at DS14 and DH. (insert forehead slaps)
Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Oh well. Tomorrow is another day...
Well....I ate ice?
Day 2 is the easiest day of a diet...cause it's the day you quit! ha ha
I forgot to bring my water with me...and here in the desert, the water is pretty nasty from the tap! yeck....
So did real good eating portion wise...just had a snack of raisen bran and fatfree milk...
Drank almost 2 pots of coffee...very cold and windy here, and got a chill. But back to the grind tomorrow...
AnneP.

Pizza Pizza
Yes, I had pizza for dinner -- there was just no cooking happening here. But I'm proud -- it had zucchini and spinach on it and I only ate 2 1/2 slices (usually I eat three).
Of course I made up for that by snacking on some of the Peppermint Bark someone gave us last night as a belated Xmas gift. Hey, auntie flo arrived this morning, and she like chocolate, OK?
Still, I'm tracking my WW points and I'm pretty much on target (assuming that I'm going to go right to the max on my points). How can that be? I'm telling you, tracking is magic.
The bum is still killing me, but I'm hanging in!

Storm Day Ahead
Weather-wise. We're in for some really strong storms here; we're already under a tornado watch until 11 a.m. So, it's probably not "if" the power will go out, but "when?" and "for how long?". I just hope it doesn't get bad while DD is at preschool & I'm at work, but that's when it is forecast to do so.
Yesterday was a true "funk" day for me. I don't know what my problem was. I just had no motivation. Today, I feel some better, but still not totally normal again. I think it's weather, Aunt Flo is just leaving (sorry to be sending her to some of you gals, though), I'm not sleeping as soundly, etc.
Today's plan:
WATER - lots of it! I can see a big difference in how clear my skin is!!
EAT THREE MEALS AND TWO SNACKS - no cheating here!
FOLLOW MY MEAL PLANS - B'fast is Slim Fast Shake; Snack is a Slim Fast or Low Carb bar; Lunch is a Lean Cuisine; Snack is a smoothie (gotta run the dishwasher so my blender will be ready); Dinner is broiled pork chops, carrots.
EXERCISE - at least 1.5 miles on treadmill; abs & glutes exercises while DD naps
So, that's my plan & hopefully I'm sticking to it!!!
Y'all have a great day!
Vonnie
new day, new me
rather cold here for me..28 and windy...windy...not tornado, but whew cold...
I am drinking lots of water today.
Once it warms up...we will hit the foothills. After dinner walk tonite also!
???I am rather interested in Weight Watchers, is it very expensive or hard to follow???

Morning everyone
I have little hope of scaring up a day of healthy eats. I need groceries but I refuse to tramp around in this bitter cold to get them. Heck, I don't even know if my car will start. DH said he'd bring home pizza if I wanted, and I do have things I could eat for breakfast and lunch. I did have a city run with lots of stops planned for today, but have moved that to tomorrow when I can only hope for warmer weather.
So sorry about your tail Shaun
. I have never hurt my tailbone, but I'll trust the rest of you that it hurts. Can you sit??? I'd think sitting would be painfull.
Jo you struck my funny bone with the (insert forehead slaps) . I'm easily amused
. Oh, I can see *much* use for (insert forehead slaps).
Congrats on earning your star Lenora
.
How are you doing with getting to bed earlier Honey? It's hard to quit having fun to do something as boring as lying abed. I'm not quite as chronic as you for staying up so late, but I sure do understand it. I love late nights. Induging that love makes for tough days though.
I've not had breakfast yet so I'm going to make myself some oatmeal. One of those handy little packs that you just add water to.
Take your vitamins and supplements everyone
. I'd remind you about the water but your already trying so hard on that one. Right?
Have a fit day
, and for those entertaining you know who....try and nap her away
.
Boy Did I Get Paid Back
After that icecream I had just terrible heartburn, I couldn't sleep. Natural consequences, I guess...
I need to go get some water.
Bye,

Yahoo...
I walked...called a friend (one who gave inspiration outfit), and took her with me...she was in a funk, and felt much better...

I know where my treadmill is....
It's in my livingroom. My OWN livingroom. That's right, folks. I've moved out of mother's house, and boy do I feel like a NEW ME because of it.
My apartment is spacious and beautiful. The rent is high, but the utilities are low and it's zero maintenance for me.
Nothing is simple, however. My health is still not up to par after last summer's discovery of my problems. Actually, they go a lot deeper than originally anticipated. Also, the same week I started moving into the apartment (Nov. 15), I broke my foot. Yep, my brother and my parents had to do all the lifting and loading and unloading.
The foot is all healed and I'm back at Curves again and loving it. Now if I could just get the food back in line. I saw where you all were talking about portion control?
Sure could use your support with THAT one.
Still taking classes. My writing/art class was great last semester. My professor wants me to submit my stories to a magazine. I have him again this semester for poetry. I'm also taking Spanish I and II just for fun. Supposed to continue with voice lessons, but my teacher and I are having some major scheduling conflicts, so here's hoping we can work it out.
So nice to see Hope and Becky and Jana and Lenora and Anne and Vonnie and Kerri and everyone else in my Romper Room mirror. Have the flybabies flown the coop?
I'll check in tomorrow.
Love to all,
Jul
Have I really been gone that
Have I really been gone that long?? I had loads to read back through!
Becky, I think you're well set for any pain that childbirth can deliver. DH has had the tailbone injury and still has occasional problems with it several years later - sorry Shaun - but I think your experience wth Crohn's will have been pretty good preparation for childbirth. The advantages of childbirth are that you can insist on drugs to see you through it all if you fancy, and you do get something worthwhile at the end, instead of more pain!
I've actually had salad for the last two days!!! And regretted it deeply the first day, but the second day I took some extra medication further in advance so the repercussions were greatly reduced. This meal planning thing DOES help, but I've had the good sense to take it easy and I only plan about 4 meals in advance. It doesn't mean I do all the cooking that far in advance either, but at least I don't leave the cooking so late because I'm racking my brains over what to eat. I drew up a list of stuff I normally cook and I basically try to rotate the rice, pasta, potatoes and breads so the dinner choice comes from that starting point. Seemed easier than trying to do it via the meat. We've had about three meals that I haven't done before too, so I didn't get too tied down. I gotta figure out where to hid a spare eggplant though before it dies. I'm thinking tonight's meatloaf could make a fabulous hiding place for all kinds of odds and ends - do eggplant and cilantro work together??
And the rest goes in Monday's broccoli soup!
So last night's dinner was actually meat-free! We had quesadillas with salad and light sour cream. Couldn't find any guacamole and forgot to look for avocados. The quesadillas were yummy and far more filling than I would've expected. I usually do up a chilli style meat mix and then we throw everything together burrito style. So I'm going to try and work in a few more meatless dinners occasionally. Soup and sandwiches on Monday might work, but since there's cheese in the soup we might have ham in the sandwiches... haven't figured that out yet. And there's a cheese omelette (with other filling possibilities like tomato in the offing) scheduled for next Thursday!
Yesterday I didn't drink so much water though, or take my medication, so I'd better get on with both of those today. Just can't seem to get it all going at the same time (along with the decluttering!). My brain just can't handle so many improvements all at once. I guess that's a good argument for trying to introduce one habit at a time and waiting till it's a solid habit!
Kerri.
Julie!
The Flybabies thread is still there. Keep looking, you'll find it.
Take your meds Kerri!
My hands are sore but I'm hanging in there.
Julie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So glad to see your name!
And the new digs must be great!
Ate like a pig today but nothing reaaalllly bad. Just large portions!
Anne - I need a walking buddy! How far are you from me??? I read an article today of a guy that wants to run 300 miles straight! WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have better things to do! Geez.............
Kerri - keep up with the menus....they really do help me out alot. Only sometimes I am just not hungry for what I fix.......so I eat less......which come to think of it is a good thing!
Better eating tomorrow! Drink water.....must drink water!!!
Jana
JULIE!
Great to see you, Stranger!
I am still struggling with going to bed early. I really think that left to its own devices my body wants to sleep at 2am and get up at 10am. Unfortunately life gets in the way and most days I need to get up at 7 or 8, so I haven't had enough sleep and then I don't get anything done.....
I have been trying to menu plan, too. It does make life easier. Now, if I could just remember to defrost things in time...
last cup of tea
Honey, what time do you drink your last cup of tea or soda or whatever of the day? Have you tried making that earlier? Maybe you could fall asleep earlier then.
Also, put on the calendar when to take things out of the freezer.
Breakfast: 2 cups of tea and 2 bowls of cereal, all with milk.
happy friday
Honey, maybe you should just listen to your body's natural bedtime, then take one of Hope's naps in the afternoon. If I have even a short nap, I'm actually productive into the evening. If not, I sit on the couch all evening feeling drowsy. If a 40 minute nap yields two hours of productivity, then I think it's justified!
hey Jana--when Hope and I first got our treadmills, we were going to keep track of our miles and see how long it took to meet between our houses. I never even made it to Ohio!
I'm going tonight to buy my dryer. Dad will pick it up for me tomorrow. I got the washer as soon as I moved in, and I've been hanging clothes on racks and rods to dry. Makes me think of Becky in the U.K.! Tomorrow night I'm making spaghetti as a thank you for one of my students and her boyfriend who helped me move.
Thinking about a job change...how's that for a NEW ME? Might start at Curves on Saturdays. They're open from 8-11, so it's only a couple hours, and it may qualify me for the employee benefit of not paying the membership fee. If it works out, maybe I'll give up the bookkeeping job at the candy store. My mental and physical well being may very well depend on it.
Later!
Jul
I love naps :)
I don't nap very often as I can't just take a short one - it ends up as a couple of hours, and I don't wake up very refreshed either. I seem to stay dopey for the rest of the day. I don't mind feeling like that, but I don't get anything done!
As for my last drink of the day...I don't have a routine for drinks at all, so I have no idea when I have my last drink. Sometimes I take hot chocolate to bed with me, but other times I probably don't have a drink for a couple of hours before bedtime.
The truth is, I COULD sleep if I went to bed early. I can sleep anytime if I lie down and shut my eyes! It's just that I never go to bed until I am extremely tired. It seems really foreign to me to go to bed if I don't feel very tired. There always seems to be something more interesting or more important that needs to be done, than to go to sleep. I love the quiet too. It's the only time this house seems to be peaceful. When I get to the point that I am so exhausted I MUST go to bed, then I do. I guess that's not the most sensible way to carry on really, yet here I am pecking away at 12.40am again......
I had no breakfast today, but lunch was egg fried rice with dragon sauce. Dinner was cinnamon toast for me and cereal for DS13- yes I know, pathetic. We had friends turn up and so I couldn't cook dinner. We waited for them to leave, which turned out to be 11pm, and then ate. It wasn't so bad as we ate lunch late at about 2pm and there was a lot of rice, so we were quite full.
I really am going to bed now.....
setting an example
hey, not me... I'm not up for that, but I'm sure somebody round here could do it, and I'm fairly sure Honey needs help so she can do it for her DS.
I think I'm doing okay, but right now I'm a bit sleepy (it's 10am in case anyone thinks maybe it's justified - it isn't!) so I'll save posting for another day.
Honey, I think you hit an all time low... that's a very large kid you've got and I'm sure that eating cereal at 11pm wasn't the best option for him! Either eat dinners earlier or make it clear to all and sundry that you eat at 7pm or 7:30pm or whatever time it is, and they can visit later than that or earlier, but not during. Be firm!
I'm done...
Kerri.
Can't do that
I couldn't tell people they can't come over, I would feel rude.
We just can't fit dinner in before he goes to his club, though he does have a snack, so he'd had a couple of English muffins, which I'd forgotten about when I posted last night. He also had a little party food at the club, and our lunch here was a cooked meal, which we don't normally have at lunchtime. So I wasn't starving him!
He didn't go straight to bed after eating either, as we had to spend time airing out the upstairs of the house and cleaning DS' chair, which stinks. Friend's son poohed himself again, and just sat in it for ages without saying anything. He's 10 and apparently didn't want to get up 'because I was playing'. This is the second time he has done this here. I am less than impressed, especially as so far I can't get the smell out of DS' new computer chair.
Today's breakfast was a banana, lunch will be a sandwich and more fruit and dinner tonight will be a chicken with vegetables, cooked in the slow cooker. We have DS' Maths lesson this afternoon, and always arrive home cold and hungry, so it will be nice to come home to dinner.
I go away for a day....
And look what happens
. I see JULIE!!!!
Hiya Julie, it's good to see you. Finally you have your own space. Are you all unpacked? I'm glad to hear you're getting a dryer, it will make life easier. You going to miss the clothesline? Not in the winter I guess.
.
I managed to walk all the way to the Minn border
I don't have your e-mail addy Julie. It was in my address book on the old puter, and when I got the laptop last spring I wasn't quick enough getting that info moved. I lost my entire address book when DH dismantled the old puter. I know all that info is there, in the guts, but if you recall I'm the tech-no-no-how of all time. Retrieving it just isn't an option.
You know about portion control, we've done it before. You're very good at it when you want to be.
Again, it's good to see your pecking.
Honey, how about making bed your reading place. Don't do any reading( which you love)all day, and make evening your time to read. Go to bed early, not to go to sleep, but to read. That should make getting into bed more appealing. After a few pages I bet you'll want to go to sleep. So, If you'd like to go to sleep about midnight, go to bed about 10:30 or 11:00 and read. Worth a try
.
I got groceries yesterday, so have meals planned for the next week. I was starving hungry when I was shopping, and bought a couple of things I should not have, like Orvilles Cinnabon Microwave Popcorn!!!
Tonight is soft taco night. Kerri's talk of quesadillas got me to thinking about how long it had been since I threw together any Mexican taste. I'm in the mood.
Not much else to report here, other than that I'm snuggled up at home for the weekend. Later all
.
Kerri? Did you take you meds like a good girl??????
sunshine in kentucky
Yesterday was the first sunny day in 18 days. It looks like today will be a sunny day too. YEA!!!! It's amazing the difference a little sun can make in your mood. I had been feeling rather sluggish and distracted, I think now it was because of the cloudy days.
Well, this morning was my weigh in day. I thought after last nights snacking it would be up from the salty snacks, but I've lost another pound. Down 5# in 3 weeks. Slow and steady.
My biggest problem is not drinking enough water and over snacking in the afternoon and sometimes evening. So ladies any suggestions for keeping up with the water. To be honest I can't even tell you how much I am drinking. Maybe I should write it down? Do any of you keep a food journal?
Question?? How often do you all post here? Maybe I need a PODA for my meals and exercise and then TADA in the evening? What do you all think??
Lenora, I haven't been to WW in several years. (I'm a lifetime member) How do they determine the number of points you can have? What is the new no counting program about?
Anne, maybe with the info from Lenora, we can start our own unofficial WW?
Honey, just felt the need to say I think you're doing a super job with DS. Even if there's a few late night suppers.
Hope, popcorn is suppose to be a good snack (right?), let us know how the cinnabon flavor is.
Julie, welcome back. Happy you have a new home. See you on flybabies soon.
Water and popcorn
Hhmmmm, that sound yummy
.
Susan, I found the easiest way to track my water is to put it in a 2 litre pop bottle. It can go in the fridge if you like it cold. I sometimes put some lemon in it. I have to finish that bottle of water before bed.
The popcorn is not too bad if you like sweet popcorn once in awhile. Of course, as I was eating it I was thinking of ways to jazz it up even more. With more butter and cream cheese and powdered sugar. Extra cinn. Ooh boy!!!!! I'm sooooo bad sometimes. But I figure if I'm going to have an evil moment I might as well make it a *most* enjoyable one.
email address
I'll send you a message on this site, Hope, since I think all I have is your old one as well.
haven't bothered
Eating today yet, I mean. I suppose I'll get around to it sometime.
Julie!
So good to see you back! Blessings on the new homestead, too!
Susan, good job on another pound! I had set a goal of 2 pounds a week, but I've decided that as long as I'm losing "something" I'm not going to beat myself up about "how much" the loss is. Slow-and-steady will be my mantra, too! WW sets your daily points by weight. You also have an additional 35 points each week as "flex" points. The "no-counting" plan is unlimited amounts of "core" foods ONLY. The core foods are whole fruits, veges, lean meats, fish, and whole grain cereal. It basically cuts out all processed foods, breads, pastas, sugar, flour, etc. You do get 35 points each week to use for non-core foods, though. I would suppose it would be a good chioce if you love fruits and veges...I'm a "grain" girl, myself, so I just count away!
Blessings,
Lenora

I love fruit!
Unlimited fruit? Really? I like the sound of that, I could eat fruit all day! Maybe I should get myself back to Weightwatchers.
Susan - what a lovely thing to say. Thank you
Hope - yeah, I could read in bed, but as soon as I lie down I fall asleep. Problem solved, but I wouldn't get any reading done. I don't think I could not read all day either!
Perish the thought! What would I do all day?
Cinnabon microwave popcorn sounds divine. Does it taste like those cinnabon bun things? They sell those at a mall I go to about once or twice a year and I HAVE to have one each time. Yum, yum, yum.
Today's eats - breakfast was a banana, lunch a salmon sandwich and dinner will be chicken kiev and various vegetables that are in the slow cooker. It was meant to be a whole chicken, but after I had prepared all the veggies earlier I took the chicken out and it was off
So I cooked the veg anyway and had a choice of boxed chicken kiev or haddock. Kiev won
Need to go take it out of the oven now. DS must have asked me six times in 20 minutes 'is dinner ready yet?'
Catching Up
Sorry to be AWOL since Thursday! DH left for a business trip Friday and will be back tonight. So, I've had double duty, and had DD all by myself. This is DH's first time to be away from DD & I think they're both having withdrawals!
Well, Friday was my weigh-in, measure-in. As I suspected, I didn't lose. Didn't gain, either, though. And, I did lose 1 inch around my hips! I'm not going to complain with that.
I've re-evaluated what I'm doing and figured out a few areas that I need to work on this week. (1) drink 8 glasses of water each day; (2) watch my portion sizes; (3) walk longer & with more intensity; (4) go to yoga Tuesday & Thursday this week.
I got some green tea capsules to take. I just have trouble getting the tea in every day along with 64 oz. of water! I also got some punch out cards with portions in actual size. They were free in a magazine I picked up!
I am only 3 pounds from my first reward & I want it! At 15 pounds of loss, I get a massage. I REALLY want that massage!
I'm also looking at hairstyles again. I want a good one. I want one that looks like it's a STYLE and not just my hair hanging around for a change! I am now willing to spend a little time on my hair. I think that my weight loss and just taking care of myself in general has motivated me in several areas & also given me the realization that "hey, I AM worth taking care of!". Does that make sense?
Well, I'm going to run. I want to read some other threads since I've been off for a while. And then, I need to get DD up and ready for church, along with myself!
Have a great day!

Meal Planning
Last week was good, and I think a huge part of it was being organized with my food, so I'm doing it again this week.
Today I went grocery shopping, and now I am "prepping" stuff for the week such as:
I just made broccoli-cheddar soup to be reheated later this week.
I cut up bok choy, shitake mushrooms, onion, and red pepper for a stir fry tomorrow. I also sliced the chicken and threw it in a marinade.
I cut up celery and packed it in a ziplock with some water to take to school with me for snacks.
Same with grapes, those I washed and packaged in snack size ziplocks.
I made spinach-riccota stuffed shells and froze it.
Cut up some beef and mixed it with sauce and veggies and froze it for the crockpot Friday, I'll just defrost and pour it in.
I also bought other good, healthy snacks for at school and lean cuisines for lunch.
So that will help with my focus on water and fiber this week.
My knee is doing fine the last two days, so I'm about to get on the treadmill.
There. Feeling happy about a good, healthy week ahead.
-Jo
Creepy...
We had broccoli cheddar soup for lunch yesterday Jo, although it was supposed to be today's dinner. I had a little mental shuffle so we could all go out and eat chicken wings last night! I've found that eating goes better with the menu planning too, though I'm only doing a few days at a time because the thought of planning a week or two is enough to make me break out in hives. But we got a couple of salads in last week and extra veggies with every meal, which is MUCH better than I've done recently. I've gotten so lazy in the last couple of months that I don't think we had veg with anything except pasta, and that's only because it's hard to make a pasta sauce without canned tomatoes!
I wish I could prepare more and freeze them but I just don't have that kind of space. Particularly at the moment when I've just bought a ton of meat and filled the whole space. There's only one place I can sensibly buy most of my meat, properly fresh rather than defrosted, which is useless to me, so I buy lots at a time to keep me going.
I don't even have room in there for a tub of ice cream! Might freeze a small ramekin of vanilla yoghurt later if I can squeeze the space!
Have I taken my meds Hope?? Not in about three days!
Need to go get some water now and get them down before I leave them till the end of the day again and forget about them.
Kerri.
take your meds Kerri!
Today's food:
-2 bowls cereal w/ milk
-2 roast beef sandwiches w/ ranch dressing
-too much coffee w/ milk
-2 burritos
It's been a veggie-free day. I've been experimenting with the "Saving Dinner" recipes and they involve more vegetables than I can eat so I was resting my guts today. I did get some walking in.
New Week Coming Up!
I am ready to start a new one, too! I am re-enlisting myself. I haven't done horrible; I have maintained my 12 pound loss. But, I am not satisfied; I want to be a loser!!!!
So, it's up with water, up with whole foods, up with vitamins, down with fat, up with walking!!!
A question for anyone who might know this. I have a Pampered Chef microwave steamer thing. It is really a plastic bowl with a lid that has small holes in it. If I want to steam a vegetable medley of baby carrots, broccoli heads & squash pieces, (1) how much water do I put in with the veggies & (2) how long do I put it in the microwave? I love steamed veggies & this is a good way for me to get them into my menu.
DH is back from his trip, so it's back to the gym tomorrow! Yippee!! I've really missed it! Who would've thought it?
I think I'll try to do my walk in the morning & then go to yoga tomorrow evening. I want to go to my nephew's basketball game Tuesday night, so I won't make it to that yoga class.
Have a great evening! See you in the morning!

veggie medley
If those vegetables are fresh, not frozen, I think the carrots would take rather longer than the other veggies. I don't know specifics though.
Microwave steaming
I always do my broccoli in the microwave. Don't think it matters how much water you pu in there as long as it won't completely dry out before the end of cooking time. I usually give a head of broccoli about 2 1/2 to 3 mins, but that's probably only if you like it fairly crunchy still. I get complaints from those who prefer it softer! You can leave the lid on longer, say while you're serving other items, and that will also add to the cooking time.
but as Becky said, try to stick with veg that have the same density, both in and of themselves, and because of their shape or size of cut. I keep the leaves of the broccoli on top of the florets and stalk bits so they don't get so much steaming. Carrots you'd probably have to slice fairly thin.
Kerri.
Meet You at the New Thread...
Cya there!
yum
I'm going to make a sampler of that one. (In my copious free time, uh-huh.)
that's not rude!
It's your house, not a pub! Are people just inviting themselves over? If so, they are the ones being rude.
I don't like to say no
It never enters my head to say no, if people ring and ask if they can pop over and it's our mealtime. I only say no, if we're going out or if we already have other company. Mealtimes don't seem like a sufficent excuse. It's not unusual for us to end up missing a meal because someone has popped in, (or feeding extra people if there is enough) but my parents are like that too, so I probably absorbed the habit growing up!
I do have saying no issues generally, though. I found myself one day this week having a huge guilt trip. My brother asked me two different favours on the same day and it was physically impossible to do both, as it involved being in two different places at the same time. It was his mistake, but I spent ages trying to work out how i could manage to do both things, and stressing out that I couldn't.
mealtimes are sufficient
What's more important than food, after all? Food is your basic survival.
