Super Fling Boogie Time!
Submitted by Susannah on Sun, 01/02/2005 - 3:00pm
Is anybody else participating in the Super Fling Boogie? Would you like to post your fling here with me? I think I need more decluttering because I have a hard time keeping the hotspots clear and the house picked up.
Does anybody else's DH participate with them in the Super Flings? I'm going to try to talk my DH into flinging with me this time. Just 15 minutes a day, nothing overwhelming.

I'm flinging..
I start tomorrow and DH is off with me...so we will see if he does a bit...he will probably be my muscle to get it gone.

Count me in!
I am planning a move soon, so I really need to do this one good! Only is it a big FlyLady sin to be planning a yard sale?
Since we are moving overseas I am going to be getting rid of some bigger ticket items and downsizing our household pretty drastically. So I have designated a closet to the sale and am stashing it in there. I know, I know, Marla would kill me... But in my defense I usually do really well with yard sales, and I will have several hundred dollars to show for this one, which will come in handy for spending money in Europe!!
So, flinging into my closet this time!

FLING
I think you will be excused Jennifer! Flings are good things to have DHs help with - most of them like it and it is pretty easy work.
Good luck everyone - I am done flinging for now though! It helps so much - we transformed our junky basement into a playroom/exercise room/laundry room after a big fling.

Well, so far today...
Two grocery bags of clothes, mine and baby's. One grocery bag of little bitty toys from the girls' room (courtesy of Anna Kate). Hope to have more by the end of the day!
This might not count...
40 gallons of icky fish water...cleaned two tanks? I boogied them onto the back lawn.

I'm In!!!
I had already planned to start in my closet this evening/tomorrow. Too bad I can't count last week! We flung about 80 pounds of junk! But, we're flinging a dressing table that was not functional and was too big & bulky for the space it was occupying. And I am flinging clothes that I didn't wear in the last season. I did this with my summer clothes this past fall. Now, I'll fling my winter stuff that I never wore last year.
Are we posting # of items or pounds here?
Flinging Food
I flung about 15 pounds of food out of the frige today- mostly old and forgotten about over the holidays and some just needing to get out of my sight (too many sweets in there!)

Sing-Fling
Flung a bunch of tapes and CD's while listening to others. Found my Rich Mullins Liturgy, Legacy & Ragamuffin Band CD and happily gave it a spin. Near perfect album, IMO! How many souls has that one lifted up? That one will NOT be flung!
Whole bag of yuck! Out you go!
I was done, put my bagoki meat in extra fridge, it spilled...all over all the holiday leftovers...soy sauce and that don't mix.
I tossed everything!! I am tired and happy
One full garbage bag of food...almost sad.

TADA!!
I flung 2 huge boxes of clothes that a) no longer fit or b) I didn't wear last winter & haven't worn this winter. Probably about 50 pounds. Woohoo! I'm not trashing them, though, I am giving them to my MIL's employee who doesn't have much money for clothes.
I feel lighter already!
Kitchen
I flung a bunch of redundant measuring spoons, old lids, bowls, silverware, bibs, etc.
From the laundry closet, I flung many half-used acrylic and fabric paints.
From the sideboard, various wrapping paper/ribbons.
While folding laundry, I threw away a bunch of tattered, stained, bleached, smelly clothes.
Probably more flinging to the trash than anything else today.
Fling, Flang, Flung!!!
Cleaned out fridge & pantry last night in anticipation of grocery trip tomorrow. Two of the black lawn & leaf bags of expired/science experiment leftovers out the door!
Desk Drawer
Flung a bunch of old tattered business cards and lots of little stuff yesterday.
Girls room done and flung!
One garbage bag full of:
broken dress up necklaces, braclets, and earrings.
plastic Polly Pocket paraphanalia
broken crayons
broken barbies (where do those legs go??)
and other miscellaneous sundry items that filled it to the brim!
The girls are so happy....
Next...
Their dresser!!!

Wow, Anne!
Excellent fling, there.
I can't think of anything else to fling. Or maybe I should say, anything else I'm *willing* to fling. I think I'm getting down to DH stuff that I can't touch.
Wow
Excellent!
I did a super fling last summer. Ten garbage bags of clothes too ratty for the Salvation Army, broken pieces parts, lots of old, useless paper, and so on. I helped so much to get that out of here!
Susannah, I had to laugh when you asked about DH helping. My DH is the biggest packrat. The man even garbage picks if he suspects I might have thrown something out. I literally had to sneak some of those bags out to spare him the stress. Poor man. But then once it's gone he will notice and like the change. He just could not cope with actually being part of a fling though, for sure.
The only place I didn't fling was----The kitchen! Yikes! I'm trying to take that a bit at a time. I did one cupoard and one drawer so far, but I really need to do it all. Scary.
