Some questions
I know you guys pretty much stick to one thread per week, but I have some questions I'd really love to get answered so I thought I would start a seperate thread.
How many of you still get the emails? Or how long did you before you stopped? I started in June and really stuck with them until the fall, but turned them off one week when I had company and never turned them back on. I was jsut deleting them all anyway.
How many of you stick to the zones and weekly schedules (like grocery shopping on Thursday, etc)? I know it's fine to change it up for your own purposes, but I think it helps me to do something the same as someone else for motivation sometimes.
How many of you use a control journal? If you don't, do you use some kind of modified system so it's written down? I use mine sometimes and then I get away from it, so I don't know if there is something else that would work better for me.
Thanks a lot for your input- I know you may have answered these many time before. It helps a lot to have someone to ask though!! I don't even know you very well yet but I appreciate all of you already...

My own ways
I got the e-mails for a couple of years, but stopped because I knew them so well that I would just delete them, or if I wasn't doing them it was just depressing to get them.
I have done the zones but gotten away from them, though I'd like to get back. I have developed a kind of weekly schedule for some things, especially shopping and menu planning. We've tried to institute a weekly Monday night quick-clean, but it gets interrupted pretty often. Still, it helps just to have an idea of what you're shooting for.
I've always had a planner/calendar. I did try to make a control journal, but it became just one more place to look for stuff. So I have tried to "Fly-style" my planner a bit. I would be lost without some kind of planner, though now I mainly use the one on my computer (which syncs to a Palm Pilot, which goes in my planner).
Like so many things, you have to figure out what personalizations are in the spirit of Flylady and when following her to the letter would just be self-defeating. It's hard to tell sometimes!

Yes, to control journal
I only recently re-started a Control Journal, just exactly as Flylady says to do it. My previous attempt didn't work so well, so I'm following her instructions to the letter this time. So far, I use it only for Morning and Before Bed Routines. (Note: I have been a flybaby for probably four years now! Embarrassing.)
I don't do the zones yet, though I'm hopeful of getting there, but I've tried the Weekly Home Blessing on occasion. I delete the regular e-mails right now (although I plan on doing them once I get my routines thoroughly ingrained). I read the testimonials for inspiration. I do like to participate in the Super Fling Boogies. Speaking of that, I wanted to start a new thread on it.
We are so very glad you joined us! The more, the merrier!
hey to you
I get the emails daily as a digest. You can go on her site, and have them sent all at one time. I really enjoy the testimonials, and Flylady's Musings on the treadmill
I have a control journal, but pop into the site daily. I have been doing this system for years, and it does so work. I rearrange the days for me. For ex: I grocery shop every 2 weeks. So prior to that day...I uhg...clean out my fridge and take note of what is in my pantry.
I mainly do the missions now, cause they are fun and different. The rest is on a system. I like to do the zones, but when one room is screaming, I put that into the Zone!!
My favorite part of flying with these group of folks here is that I post a PoDa(what I plan on getting done), and the joy of posting a TADA!!! I did it!!
You just pop in and fly with us...you will be encouraged and laugh as you get to know us all...

Makes me feel better
To know that everyone isn't out there doing it just like she says to do it! Of course it is a goal, but we do need to fit our own lives around the whole thing too and not let it make us crazy!
I have a control journal an dI just revamped it, so hopefully it will work well for a while. I will need to re-do it once we are back with DH- i made some changes that help me with my single-parentness until we re reunited!
I decided to resubscribe for just the daily journal and see how I like it- I really did like doing the missions too, and then I will know about bigger announcements like the Super Flilng, etc. I think I will try to visit the site more often too- it always motivates me.

Giving Up.
I was flying for the best part of last year, but towards the end I started to feel positively demented about it. I think taking the best parts of it and flying your way without the emails is the way to go. I have also found a new site http://brocantehome.typepad.com with a vintage Housekeepers circle due to launch at the end of jan that sounds really exciting. The sites taking list places now and its really uplifting. Worth a look anyway.
Heres to wings all of your own.
have a lovely night.
