William and the Magic Ring

This was one of Louisa's Yule gifts this year (2004). Both girls (3.5 and 7) are enchanted with it; it's become a regular bedtime ritual.

The book is spiral bound and comes with its own flashlight. It's meant to be read in the dark, in fact, you can't really see the pictures well unless the room is dark. Almost every page in this short story about a little boy seeing shadows on his wall is illustrated with a paper cutout; you shine your flashlight through the cutout onto the wall, and hey presto! a giant illustration.

This is a beautiful keepsake book. I'm so glad I stumbled across it.
