Thank a Veteran

I know we all have Veterans we are remembering today.
For me, I'm so grateful that my dad came home from Vietnam alive and whole.
I'm also grateful to the service of my DH's great uncle Ray Willis, who served in WWII and Korea. He fought in the thick of it and was so proud of his service. When he died just a few days after 9/11/2001, the military portion of his funeral was so moving, and there was nary a dry eye as we sang "America."
Of course, thanks again to the military families here at TNH, like Jamielea, Rose, and Karin. (I know that's not all, sorry!)

Thanks to All Who Served
I really do love this country.
I live right outside a very large air force base. Holloman, Home of the Stealth! To see this plan everyday over my house, is an honor. I never tire of the sound of jets. After Sept, 11th, when the planes were all grounded, that scared me more than anything.
I salute you men and woman of the armed forces, and thank you to the families.
AnneP.
Yes, a BIG thank you!
We know everything you are doing makes us safer and the world freer. God bless you and keep you safe!
I just got an e-mail with the neatest picture of a soldier tending a tiny little plot of grass he had planted with seed, soil and fertilizer his wife had sent him. A little patch of green in a desert...a small reminder of home. It was touching.
Also saw a great picture on a mil-blog recently of a couple of kids holding a "thank you" sign. I'd love to do something like that with our family and e-mail or mail it to a soldier.
And finally, if you'd like to sponsor a soldier or arrange for a Christmas stocking to be sent...

Many Thanks to our Vetrans and Service Members
And to those on the "home front" who wait and pray!
The son of our church's choir director has been in Iraq for almost a year. He recently sent us the names of three soldiers in his unit who never get any mail.
I can only imagine how difficult it is to serve when showered with love and support from home...but how much more difficult it must be to be "alone" in a war zone.
We are sending care packages to the unit, too, but If you would like to send a note of support, encouragement and thanks to one of these particular soldiers, "write" me a private message and I'll give you their names and address.
My very favorite vetran will be home from a business trip this afternoon! I'm looking forward to "thanking" him, personaly!
Blessings,
Lenora
I know what you mean
Anne, like you, we are right outside a base, too. Cannon AFB. Home of the F-16! They fly over us all the time too (and have messed up some of our windmills in the past). the coolest thing is when the C-130 flies over "looking" for something. I love our base, and our veterans.
Even though yesterday was veterans day, tonight our school is having a special program for the vets. Our Booster Club sponsered an Essay and Poster contest, it should be good.
And thank you too, to the families of the soldiers!
