Brownie GS Uniform

Submitted by lgunnoe on Tue, 11/09/2004 - 10:20am.

I have a Brownie Girl Scout Uniform: short sleeve blue blouse and a brown skort, size 10, and no Brownie! (Our "little" girls bridged to Juniors!)

I'll be glad to send this to any one who has/knows a little girl who would wear it!

Reimbursement for shipping would be nice, but not necessary.

Let me know!

Love to all!

I know this was posted a long, long time ago - but I am new to this site. By any chance, do you still have them? Or do you know of anyone who has used brownie uniforms for sale. I need a lot of them.

Lenora,
I am trying to help get my Granddaughter a Brownie Uniform and she will only be in Brownies 1 year before she moves up to the next level and I find it hard to buy a new uniform for just one year. She does wear a size 10 so this I would appreciate it if you would let me know if you still have the size 10 uniform.

Thank you so much.

I'm so sorry! I posted that in 2004...the Brownie uniform is long gone and we've since moved completely through "Juniors," too.

All of the "big" girl scouts have switched to khaki skirts/slacks and white tops as uniform pieces...GS USA is not even attempting to sell full uniforms for girls other than the Brownies and Daisys...maybe that would work for her. Years ago you could buy "oficial" fabrics at some fabric stores but I think they've discontinued that, too. Just recently they have even switched the adult "official" dress uniforms to any navy suit with just a scarf as a GS insignia.

According to the official platform, a girl is "in uniform" if she is wearing her pins.

Personally, I believe there is a great value in full uniforms and we have expected even our older girls (high school seniors now, YIKES!) to "dress" for events. For casual stuff we have troop t-shirts, but our girls DO wear skirts, blouses, and their vests/sashes at EVERY ceremonial event.

Have you tried e-bay? Check your GS council to see if they have any kind of uniform swap program. You could also check with your service area coordinator (your troop leader should be able to get you that info) to see if she can put you in contact with scouts who have recently "flown up."

Good luck!
Lenora
PS. Welcome to TNH!

I just found your post. I have a Brownie but no uniform! If yours is still available, or if you know anyone with one available, please let me know. Thanks very much! Beth

Have you asked your daughters leader if shes knows of anyone wanting to get rid of an old uniform? I picked up a jr uniform at a yard sale this summer for .50. I've also had good luck at Goodwill and second hand stores. I am always looking for used ones. I'll probably give away the jr one since my daughter won't need it until 4 yrs from now.
