in search of a round dining table like olive gardens/cattlebarron

Submitted by Rooney on Sun, 11/07/2004 - 1:12pm.

Okay! We have 4 growing children. We have right now a huge rectangle table, with 4 leaves(have 1 leaf in now).
We eat all our meals at this table. Dinner is the main part of our "family time". Stories and adventures. Trials and tribulations are pondered. Lots of laughs and conversations.
OUr table is huge! I feel like I have to send a courier to my DH on the other end of table.
We have eaten at Olive Garden/Cattle Barrons/Red Lobster and they have the table we want. About 5 feet in diameter. 6 chairs fit great, and everyone is close. I have searched, and maybe not using the right words.
I want something oak or oaklike. If anyone has some helpful hints to find or know where I can get one of these....please please let us know!

dinette table

One of my housemates in college had a round table like you describe, and she called it a dinette table. Try that.

Girl, keep the table you have! As the kids get older, they will be able to help passing everything from one end to the other. You'll wish you had all the extra leaves when you have company over to eat, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, when the kids start bringing over friends, then eventually, boy/girlfriends, spouses, GRANDKIDS! My mom has my grandmother's table that will seat 10.

Our Cattle Baron doesn't have tables like you describe. hmmmm... If you don't keep the one you have, are you going to sell it, and for how much?

It is huge. I'll take a pic and put on my site this week.

Becky~great word to try...found lots more selection. But none with pedestal so that we can get 6 chairs around. Most are 42 round with a leaf to make oval 50 inch. But we are gonna try to hit the restaurant supplies in ElPaso after the holidays.

My table

Submitted by jennye on Sun, 11/07/2004 - 2:37pm.

Anne, my dining room table is 42"wide, 65" long with the two leaves. Round without leaves, oval with. Six chairs fit just right. It's not a pedastal, it has 4 legs. I'll have to take pictures of it for you and post them. Also an oak finish, or oak like. The top is a laminate like finish that won't scratch. It's not a real high quality one, it came with the trailer house when we bought it, but is has been great for us. Except for get togethers, when we have to use the card table, snack bar, and sofas. We like big get togethers!

I have a so-so picture of it on my website:

Not that I'm wanting you to take it, just wondering if this is what you are looking for. I think there is a furniture store here that still has them.

Gosh Jenny!
You're site looks awesome! I can NOT get over how big your girls have gotton! What are you feeding those kids. Jeez~all OT
Your table is beautiful, but I want a completely round circle one. No leafs. Pedestal.
BTW~amazing what a lot of cleaner and elbow grease can do. The last pics I saw of the house were the before you even moved in. That kitchen shimmers!

I went to www.jcpenney.com and searched on "dinette," and I expect you could do the same with any housewares-type website. I also went to www.ikea-usa.com and looked under "dining tables" because they did not get any hits on dinette, and I found these:

I am a big fan of Ikea! I searched them first!
The table is only 42 inches....I need 60. Smiling We measured the one yesterday at olive garden...gosh it was perfect! Real thick laquer on top. I wanted to steal it! Laughing out loud
The one from Penney's is gorgeous!!! Woo Woo, I can not find dimensions...still looking on that site.
Thanks!

As I said, you probably can find something similar by searching for "dinette" at other houseware stores.
