Boy do I feel OLD

jamielea's picture

Not sure what I did, or how I did it but I've managed to really hurt my back. I'm having to get down on both knees in front of the bassinet in order to pick up Savannah. Same goes for taking her out of the swing or from anywhere that I'd have to bend over to get her. DH's helping a little, I guess as much as any MAN could. No I'm not bitter. Laughing out loud Know what time he went to bed last night?? 5, no not 5am, 5 PM!! Know what time he got up, 9am! Is his back hurting, NOOO, I guess not, hell If I had about a 12 hour nap I'd be all rested and relaxed too.

Hummm? This really was supposed to be all about my back but somehow turned into a DH vent. Smiling
Thanks for listening

Can't live with 'em . . .

I love that you filed this under elder care!!

Hey, my DH and his younger brother have back problems like old men. Especially younger bro, who is a ripe old 31. So take good care of that back!!

Lift with the legs! Lift with the legs!

Jamie, that's one of my pet peeves...how come YOU get to take a nap? A couple of nights ago, he was in bed by eight-thirty. I still had to put the kids to bed. I walked in and said, "HEY! That's not fair!" He mumbles something like, "I'm wiped out." I replied, "Well, I need to get a job like that." Then again, he did put the kids to bed last night while I wrote an e-mail to a friend.

Not that I nap well. I just can't sleep during the day unless I'm completely exhausted. Then I try to catch 15 min. in the recliner, but usually there's someone crawling all over me.

Anyway, I do hope your back gets to feeling better. Resting really is the best thing, as I understand it. Maybe trying the flylady timer thing would help. You could tell DH, I have to take my 15-min. break now! They're all yours! Laughing out loud It's amazing how that timer adds a good dose of objectivity. Nobody argues with the timer, whereas they'll argue with me.

I hope your back gets better!

I hope your back gets better! And I hope after DH's "rest" that he feels up to helping out today. LOL!

Is the back pain muscular or skeletal?

Anhata's picture

I'm so sorry to hear the problems you're having with your back. If you think it's muscle pain, I recommend Aleve (unless you're breastfeeding), hot packs, hot baths, and lots of time spent horizontal. Sometimes rolling a towel longways and laying on it so it goes up and down under your spine relieves back pain.

If it's skeletal, i.e., your spine, you should see your doctor. You could have a herniated disk, a condition which generally doesn't resolve itself without some help. Both people I know who had herniated disks couldn't bend over or lift things.

Here's hoping your DH gets a clue, and that your back gets better, soon!

I don't know if it's better, but it's different. Now it's ok during the day, the occasional twinge maybe. During the night and first thing in the morning are a different story, it takes me forever to get up in the morning, very stiff. I'll give it a week or so and if it's not better I'll get to the Dr. Thanks for all the advice.

DH's still not much help, I love him but I've learned to set my expectations low as not to be disappointed Laughing out loud
