Still No Kid

Well, it's going on 3 months since the court date and still no kid. Supposedly, our court paperwork will arrive in America by the end of next week and then be submitted to the regional CIS (used to be INS) office for processing, which could take (officially) up to 6 weeks but which is (actually) taking up to 10 weeks in some parts of the country. Since all the kids in Abrehem's group have to be processed before we can go get him, we could potentially be waiting weeks and weeks after Abrehem's ready before we can go get him. I am so discouraged I can hardly talk about it.

In other news, I have been taking yoga from a new instructor, whom I love, and I have been doing yoga at home almost every day with Danika. It's a lot of fun and a good physical outlet for me (I am not athletic and I don't like to sweat). I have been trying to refine my list of interests so I can focus on a few things long term, and I have been reading some very good books (Awakening the Buddha Within by Surya Das, The Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dazcyzyn, Miserly Moms by Jonni McCoy, Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer). I started a price book so that I can cut down even further on our monthly grocery expenses (I'm at about $200/month for a family of three [including toiletries], and I'm learning more and more about how to continue to reduce that amount). I canned a bunch of stuff this summer but didn't do any bicycling. Frank and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary with a trip to Lake Erie. Danika and I started doing Before Five in a Row, which Susannah gave me last year (thanks Susannah!). So, life is going on, and sometimes it's hard to keep Abrehem present in our lives. We can only be emotionally expectant for so long, and then it just becomes too stressful.

Please read the My Gross Carpets thread and help me with my gross carpets!

My own heart hurts to read of these delays. I can't imagine how hard it is for your family. I remember how frustrating it was to wait for my green card. I would think that it would be magnified times a hundred when a child in need is involved. @#$Bureaucrats!!!

It's fun to do yoga with kids. My DS7 - a quirky lad if ever there was one - does upside-down lotus positions on the couch, if you can picture such a thing.

I LOVE The Tightwad Gazette. It sits on my coffee table, and I consult it regularly.

I'm sending warm wishes your way, that Abrehem joins your home soon.

My sinkin' grocery bills have gone up to $200 a week!!!!!

It's making me crazy, how do you manage on so little in a month?
