Scrapbooking with Computer
Okay, some silly questions from a first-time scrapbooker:
I bought a cheapie Wal-mart spiral-bound scrapbook to make a baby book for Emma. I've done the cover and one double-page layout so far using a (Wal-mart purchased) pack of baby-theme papers, stickers and stencils. The pages are square (10" x 10").
I want to use some computer-generated fonts and clip art I found online. (I found Calvin and Hobbes font! Wow!) How do I transfer these to a spiral-bound album? Print on paper and glue/tape down on page? What kind of paper do I use? Regular weight? Card stock? Where do I find such paper?
Or, if you'd rather: What tools and products have you found most useful? Or, generally: HELP!

I do all my "scrap" on powerpoint on puter
I don't do the "scrapbooking" that is 3-d I guess. I use power point. I love it! You can incorporate fonts, graphics and the program itself is full of great things. We use nothing but digital camera. I do a page for example:
We went to mountains last Christmas to cut down our tree. I take almost 50 pictures. Upload and save everyone. Then go thru and pick out the parts of ones that make me happy. Eric getting snow down Daddy back. Abby eating snow. The tree before being cut, then again in the house lite up. Enlargeing and cropping using the 'puter not scissors. I can change backgrounds-add titles etc. I use the clear document protectors and print on quality print page, and have albums filled with a full day. You get the spirit of the day, like with scrapbooking, but you can use a picture over and over.
I did one just of Anna waking up one day from a nap...she was grouchy...Abby sat on the other bed just laughing.... I was able to take 20 pics and make them all the same size, and tilt, and a final pic of Anna smiling. Is a treasure to take an ordinary day...and make a memory.

scrapping
Wow, this thread really has me thinking. Anne, I tried scrapping using my old Microsoft Greetings CD-ROM tonite with a few pumpkin patch photos. It turned out really cool! The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the quality of the pictures on the paper. I printed on card stock - what do you use? I also have Print Shop and PrintMaster, I imagine there is quite a bit on those also. I think I can do just about everything I do with CM on these programs. Why did I never think of this before? I suppose one could still jazz up the pages with stickers, metallic markers, whatever.
Susannah, to answer your questions - in my traditional albums I have used some stuff form the internet - mostly clip art. I just print a bunch of graphics on white card stock and then cut them out and use the little scrapbook tape thingys to stick them on. You could use scrapping glue too. You could do the same thing with the fonts - to write a caption or paragraph - but you could do that directly from Word, right? I think the options are really endless - really anything goes. Check out some of the scrapping sites online - great for ideas. I just discovered twopeasinabucket.com. Great ideas, very creative! I will happily copy anyone's layouts! I am really intersted in this computer stuff though - I just did a page in maybe 30 minutes where it would've taken me at least an hour to do it by hand.
Cut it out
Susannah, for what you are wanting, I would print and cut out, then glue it on (with acid free scrapbooking glue, of course). You could cut around it with a white trim, rather than cutting in really close (and time consuming). I would also use plain old copier paper. It's already acid free!
scrapping
Anne, love the pages!! Is your paper the glossy photo paper? Is it in the paper aisle at Wal-Mart ? Like with the reams of copy paper, photo paper, etc.?
cheapest paper at wally
Yes, it is in the aisle by the reams of papaer. There is one, it is either 50 or 25 pages for 6.98? photo paper glossy.
It is fun to do...the power point even has the little bubbles to put words like cartoons do. there are alot of features I haven't even got to yet. Hope this helped ya"

Digital Scrapbooking
There are whole communities devoted to computer scrapbooking
www.scrapbook-bytes.com is the best!
If you want to learn more I recommend you start there.
Thanks!
I agree! Very impressive site shelley rae - thank you! I could spend a lot of time there. I am really itching to get into this, but I feel like I have to finish the Creative Memories books I have already purchased and started. Hmmmmmm.
Puter Scrapping
Anne-
I am really intrigued by your method. What size are your papers then? 8.5 X 11 I suppose. YOu buy the Powerpoint software, right? Any chance you could show us some samples?
I've done CM scrapping and like it, but it is time consuming. I LOVE doing projects on the puter, so this sounds like it might be right up my alley.
Andrea
I can try one...I have a small one...let me see
I use the generic photo paper at Wal-mart. Very cheap. Let me bum around to see how to shrink it so you can see a page.
