What's with EltonJohn???

I've long loved the man's music, and have a cd collection of it.
But really...is the guy losing his marbles or what?? His antics in Asia are sorry indeed. Mind you, I wasn't there, but...even bugged and stressed the man could behave better. His trashing of "M" last night was uncalled for. Is the guy nuts or just waaay too full of himself?
Or is he jealous of "M". Is he a true *diva*?

Comments
he's been a diva for years
I don't have comments on his marbles though.
I should have said
*More* diva-ish?
You're so right Becky, he's been a character forever, but he's getting really strange I think. Maybe I've missed some of his antics along the way.....I'm just hearing the media coverage lately. Could be he lost his marbles long ago.
I vote nuts
Elton has always seemed like I good guy, but I think it's gotta be drugs or mental illness.

What did I miss?
I haven't heard a word about this. What happened?

Plus, he made a public spectacle of himself when he trashed Madonna while he was accepting an award at a British awards ceremony the other day. Sorry, I don't have a link for that tale.
I've been wondering too...
Isn't there ome kind of degenerative illness where people say things which are outright rude, and over which they have no control, or am I muddling that with Tourette's??
He's always been outspoken, a diva, a character and all the rest of it, but I was badly shocked at his being so out of control rude about the Taiwanese media. To call people rude is one thing, but his outburst went beyond that. I would have expected him to be sharp about their appalling behaviour perhaps, but his choice of words seemed more than that. Adding that to the more recent incident over Madonna... and publicly too...
I dunno... something seems to have snapped somewhere, and my vote would be for illness. It probably sounds odd, considering his issues with hair in the past, and his outlandish choice of stage clothes and personality overall, but I would have thought both of these incidents were beneath his dignity. He'd never have a second career in the diplomatic corps, but I am surprised that he'd sink so low on his choice of words to the Taiwanese media. As an isolated incident it could be put down to extreme exhaustion, but being followed so closely by the very public and very close-to-home incident with Madonna...
I'm worried about him.

similar story
I don't have time to look up the details, but I remember that maybe a year after his son was murdered, Bill Cosby was acting very bizarre in public, even during his public appearances. He would sometimes become almost incoherent, out of nowhere. I think he's considered back to normal now. So maybe Elton has had some private stressor?
Kerri, I know that Alzheimer's disease often makes people abusive, completely counter to their usual personality. (On the other hand, my husband's grandpa went from gruff old bastard to sweetheart.) In the last year of her life, my husband's great aunt (who had not been diagnosed with Alzheimer's) went from being one of the sweetest ladies I ever knew to being belligerent, angry, suspicious, and generally impossible. It was so hard on everyone who knew and loved her. One hopes Elton does not have early onset Alzheimer's!

Mmm...
worrying thoughts Shaun. I wondered about something like Alzheimer's but couldn't remember the effects, and *touch wood* haven't experienced it in anyone I know either. Nor did I have time to check it out.
Maybe somebody close to him will have the sense to check into it so that he can get whatever help he needs. I wouldn't normally sympathise with such outbursts, but I get a bad feeling about this, and a sense that he wouldn't say anything quite so inflammatory. He might well be sarcastic or more generally rude, but this went beyond that in both instances.

Elton John Album "Peachtree Rd"
I have been a fan of Sir Elton Johns work for many years, and i was looking forward to his new album.
This album has to many slow songs and not enough rock!
Over the years Elton has performed some great songs some of the best ballads & slow songs ever.
But i must say
Sir Elton want’s to get back to the real world, and remember he is English & not American! (Nothing against Americans) I love Americans….
maybe his mood has a lot to do with performing and working in Las Vegas every week, and a gruelling schedule travelling flying etc...(was this album aimed at the American market?) is they’re anybody around Sir Elton that will tell him the truth! Can we please have our Elton back as I think he has landed in Peachtree Rd!
The AlBUM did not chart in the top twenty in the Uk when first released, and has gone down ever since.
I would like to say as this point I also have had this album in my car player since release! And one of the highlights of the album was
"Answer in the sky"
One last comment when will Sir Elton also learn that he does not need to have guest celebrity singers perform his songs at concerts,
the public and fans want Elton to sing his own songs!
That is what they pay for!
Not some second Rate version of his songs performed by another artist…who can hit the high notes ( that maybe Elton cant reach anymore!) also getting the audience to sing crocodile rock chorus or asking his backing singers to do the same ..
watch and listen to the latest video's....
And Elton this is from a big fan!
