Not Overwhelmed For the Moment Even Though Nothing Has Changed

Okay, people gave me their suggestions for taking care of myself in times of cluster bomb events, and it was all good advice. But what did I actually DO? If I am totally honest, the list is pretty funny.

Went down to jack's burgers and ordered a chili cheese burger, fries, and a chocolate shake. I cannot begin to tell you how far that it is off my normal diet. Then I went home and didn't tell a soul about it. Prepared an organic vegan lunch for everyone. I am SELF DESTRUCTIVELY EVIL and LOVING IT!

MAJOR retail therapy. I went into a stuffy ( both literally and figurateively) furniture showroom and sat in all their recliners. Picked one and bought it. Is not my budget. Find that saying "my mother is dying" seems to justify everything. Had pleasantmemory of this beat up recliner that my mom used to have that I loved so much and read a million good books in.

Wrote my mom and printed pictures for her of granddaughter and asked her one friend in MInnesota to see if they can find some flour tortillas for her because she's having a craving. I'm writing her a lot, because she can't remember my phone calls, and if a letter is around, she keeps "re-finding" it and enjoying it again.

Seeing my friends Starlene and Miss J. I just like being at their house and not at mine. I like their fresh mint tea and the river bubbling down below their porch.

I read about a hundred patterns on patternreview.com. I am totally inspired to try a pair of fitted pants. I get ou t the pattern, and my enthusiasm dampens a bit. I am going to try to do a muslin for the first time. But already, I've hit a snag. My aspirations as a seamstress are so high, and my actual skills are so low. i need to be one of those hostsy totsy designers who just orders people around.

I talked to another friend of mine who is going to rehab to try to kick a TWENTY year methadone habit, and I felt FRESH AS A DAISY by the time we were through. My god, I have it EASY.

And, hey, to the woman who replied to me before that she wasn't "allowed' to get spiritual, please don't hold back with me. I'm really curious what you were going to say. I'm not religious at all, but i would say I'm mystical and superstitious and highly suggestible.

She asked. Smiling

Quesie, we have a religion policy here that doesn't allow people to prescribe religious solutions to problems. If someone specifically asks you, though, you can say your piece.

As for sewing, let go of your perfectionism! Muslins by definition are supposed to be imperfect. You're supposed to work with it and refine it. Do it, it's amazing how much better your pants will fit.

Muslin

I did a muslin before sewing a gorgeous, blush-peach, crepe, fitted sheath for a class. The dress turned out fabulous (if I do say so myself Eye-wink ). Of course that was 15 pounds ago and no amount of lycra could get me into it this past summer Sticking out tongue C'est la vie!

Personally I thought your list sounded very much like my own "self-care" lists! I'm a firm believer in the restorative powers of a good milk shake...consumed in secret, of course! Big grin

Be well,
Lenora
