Our Dream Has Come True!!

We made it!! We are now officially washingtonians!! I can't believe we are here! We drove for two days and my kids where angels in the car! I've missed this site so much!!! How is everyone? Our new home is amazing! I can't believe I'm surrounded by beauty all day everyday. Such a big change from Big City California! You know I was kind of worried that we would get up here and I would find out things about the country that I didnt like but so far there is not one thing that I would change for anything in the world!!!
I think somehow I was born a city girl but in my heart I was always a country girl! Eye-wink
My boys are thriving! I've had many moments with tears in my eyes watching them, running down the lane (our tenth of a mile private driveway) to go pick blackberries, going into the forest to chase the peacocks out of our yard (neighbor has 15 of them and my DD is scared of them), playing ball in the pasture. God has truely blessed this family.
My DH has found a job at an armored transport company. I'm not too nervous about it because we are not in a city and he is armed and protected by a bullet proof vest.
How is everone doing? Please let me know what I have missed out on!
Lynn, How are your girls?
I had a major problem getting online. We are too far off the road to have cable and DSL is not available out here, so I'm on dial up! Its driving me crazy!!!
My mind is mush right now (its been a long day) so Ill check in tomorrow morning!
I hope you are all doing well!
Amee

Good for you Amee!

As a country girl stuck in the city for the last nearly 10yrs I can appreciate how much you love being surrounded by natural beauty all the time. I miss it badly, but at least I know I too will be moving in less than a year.

I'm glad your move has gone well so far, though i'm sure you still have a ton of work left to do. Maybe you can get a group together to push the DSL for your area, make it totally perfect! Smiling

isn't the NW great!

my hubby and I grew up here, tried SoCal, hated it, and now have a home in Boring, OR. I KWYM about seeing your kids in this beauty. My son thrives on the fresh air and lack of city noise.

CONGRADULATIONS!

Every kid deserves a backyard, and so does their mommy and daddy! I didn't fully appreciate this until I lived in an apartment for a year with a two-then-three year old. I started really hating apartment living once DD started asking to go play outside. There was a play area and a green space right outside our back door, but it's not the same.

I started remembering having a backyard when I was little, like four, five, and six years old. The backyard was a magical kingdom that I loved to play in. The vegetable garden, the stone path to the fruit trees, the wild mint that grew at the base of the apple trees, the huge fushia bush that I thought was amazing. I was floored by how clearly I was remembering my own childhood play in the backyard and by how much I yearned for DD to have a magical kingdom of her own.

Now we do, and I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that you have that, too! I love that you measured the length of your driveway! Have fun making that big, beautiful house and yard your own.

Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, may you love it as much as we do! My only advice would be to plant some apple and pear trees and put some mint at their base. Some stone steps leading up to them, and your kids will have their own slice of heaven.
