Ethiopian Child Sponsorship--Last Call!

Danna's picture

I just wanted to remind everyone that if you want to contribute money to sponsoring the HIV+ 10-year-old Ethiopian girl through AHOPE Ethiopia, your money is due to me by September 20th. You can either use PayPal (send it to tricksyhobbit@donet.com) or you can email me at tricksyhobbit@donet.com and I will send you my snail mail address.

To date, I have gotten money from (I think) 4 people.

Thanks,

Where do we stand?

Danna, just wondering how things are going with the sponsorship.

So far ...

I have received $108.83 (PayPal charges me to accept credit cards, so all the credit card payments end up as odd amounts), and I am waiting on another $35 that has been promised through the mail. That means we'll have $143.83, and we'll still need to come up with $186.17. I don't think that Frank and I can cover that at all once, so I guess I'll send what we have and see whether they'll let me send the rest in monthly installments, which we can probably manage. If anyone else is still interested, PLEASE let me know.

A very generous TNHer, who had already contributed to the sponsorship, just kicked in an additional $150. So, we have enough money now. Thanks to all who donated. I'm very excited to meet our girl when we travel to Ethiopia next month.

What a lovely thing to do, Mystery Person Smiling

How lovely that you will be able to meet her, Danna. Will you be taking photos?

Awesome!

Thank you, Mystery Person! Smiling

Danna, have you picked out her doll yet?

Yes, we will be taking pictures, and we will share them with those who contributed to the sponsorship.

No, I haven't gotten her doll yet. I have been to several stores and looked, but everything I find is either a cloth doll (a no-no because of scabies) or a baby doll. Frank and I figured that a 10-year-old would rather have a doll that looks like a child instead of a baby. The other problem is that most places either have a dinky selection of black dolls or none at all. There is a speciality toy shop near me that I am going to check out. I know they have some nice dolls, so I'll see whether they have anything appropriate.
