me again

Come on lazy naked fatladies! Wakey wakey!!! Laughing out loud

Need to run errands today, out of milk. Will see if I can find anything left on the sale shelves, too.

Gotta run!

I'm Awake! I'm Awake!

Guess I'd better be at 4:17 p.m. (ET). Laughing out loud

Happy shopping, Jenny!

I got Susan's and Julie's cards a couple of days ago. Thanks, guys! Smiling I'm going to try your cookie recipe, Susan, sounds so good.

Well, TA DA:
*Took baby to the movies last night with Mom and Sis and made it through most of ROTK. Great movie!
(SLUG: Did not clean up when I got home last night.)
*Got up before kids, dressed and straighted up a bit
*Started a couple loads of laundry
*Homeschooled
*Made cheesy biscuits and hotdogs for lunch
*Took DD7, DS2, and baby to therapists.

Oh-ho! I am vindicated! J.D. tested great with the OT evaluation and it's official...he does NOT have sensory issues! Thank you, thankyouverymuch. He was such a good boy, too. I just about busted with pride. Anna Kate was in the pool today so she had a great time. And Emma slept. The other two stayed home with Dad.

Received Wal-Mart gift card today from DH's mom for everybody's presents from her. Now I have to decide what to do. I don't really want any more toy clutter (they will be getting toys from DH's sister soon in the mail) but she will want them to have gifts from her. Ideas, anyone? I thought I could get the girls an extra bake set to go with their oven, or maybe that gourmet Easy Bake cookbook, if I can get it there. Or, we really need a globe. Maybe a talking globe for an "everybody" gift...good for homeschooling.

On the PODA:
*Fold fold fold laundry
*Something for supper ASAP
*Vacuum LR
*Sort out some toys tonight
*Put away clothes

Love y'all! Are lots of folks out of town? It's quiet around here.

Susannah

T-A-D-A!!!

I know I never post but I have the biggest TADA I am busting to tell and it's so quiet I figured I'd give you all something to read.

At 9 a.m. this morning I left the house with my three kids and accomplished errands to:
Walgreens
Post Office
Bank
Target
Michaels
Children's Place
Hobby Lobby
Babies R Us
Restoration Hardware

and 10 minutes early to meet DH for lunch at noon!

Not a harsh word, death look, or exasperated sigh the entire time. The baby slept, the boys were angels. We bought lifesavers at the first stop and after every errand they got to eat one. It was a brilliant idea that kept them going the whole time!

I am overwhelmed with pride. I called DH to tell him, he acted excited for me but has never had all three on errands so really didn't get the magnitude of what we had accomplished!

As a reward we took in Looney Tunes at the dollar theater this afternoon. Not sure, maybe I'd prefer fighting on errands over that again but the boys loved it and I had a good little nap with baby asleep on my chest.

Just dying over the success of our day. I'll relish it since it is a once in a blue moon kind of thing!

Kelly

jennye's picture

Great Buys!

Kelly, that's amazing! Way to go, girl!!!

Susannah, congrats on JD's evaluation!

Found some good deals. Didn't want to mess with Hobby Lobby, but got some great lights and stuff at Lowe's and Walmart, including all my cards for next year. Got groceries, too. And locks for the doorknobs. Plus side, Chance can no longer get into bathrooms or his sisters' room. Bad side, neither can dd4! LOL!! Well, she will have to work it sooner or later.

Vonnie, ready for a new episode of American Chopper tonight? The Racecar bike! Oh, and I found OCC stuff at Dillards today! Got a cap and shirt for DH, but it's too small (XL), will have to take it back. But very excited! DH is very caught up in this AC/OCC thing. He actually went to the Harley-Davidson shop in Clovis today for the heck of it. He's never even been on a bike! LOL!!

Cya'll later!

Vonnie's picture

Atypical Days

Yes, I am having atypical days with DH home from work until 1/5. It's been nice, though, having someone here so I can run errands, etc. without either dragging a reluctant DD with me or finding a sitter. We have company coming from out of town from Wednesday to Saturday morning, so we are cleaning. Actually, we are more or less organizing our holiday decorations as we are putting them away. DH has also cleaned out the storage room so I can get to my deep freezer!!! Yahoo!!! Meat sales, here I come!

Today is car day. DH's truck will be repaired & I get new tires. We're going to leave them and walk next door for lunch with DD. It is only supposed to take one hour; we'll see!

Today's PODA:

* Go to office (anytime really-even tonight if need be) to do some end of year checks & postmarks
* Get cars done
* Target run: get shower curtain liner; exchange dupe gift DD got for b'day
* Get hair products for color treated hair (explanation to follow)
* Finish organizing cabinet above dryer and top of of closet in bathroom (where meds are)
* Grocery store
* Laundry
* Remake my bed (thanks, DD, for wetting it at 2 a.m.!)

I got a really handsome bonus at my work for Christmas. I debated about what to do with it. I don't need any clothes, don't need any books (I have 10 boxes in storage!), don't need anything. So, I finally decided that with at least a portion of it, I would get my hair professionally colored. I have been doing my own for about 8 years. So, I went to a salon and had it colored and trimmed up. She used a flat iron and straightened it, too. Because it didn't cost what I thought it would, I think I may go back to having it done at a salon every two months. I don't want to be "high maintenance", but I want to project a better image this year. I want DD to have a desire to look her best, but not be obsessive about it. I am resolving not to go shopping on Saturday mornings with no makeup and in my sweats. I have some GREAT clothes, so why would I do this? I have plenty of makeup, so why should I go out without any? I also think that the more I work to look as good as I am able to, the better I'll feel about myself & may even be able to shed these 15 pounds I want to lose!

Jennye, I didn't get to see the show last night. We were so busy putting stuff in storage boxes, I felt guilty sitting down to watch t.v. Was it good? My other "show" is What Not to Wear! I love it! These are really the only two things I even watch on television anymore.

Well, I'd better get going so I can get to Target before we have to take our cars in.

You all have a great day!

Vonnie

jennye's picture

morning

Vonnie, it was a new episode to me, but it was actually #3, the Race Car Bike, part 1. The Pauls can be so sensitive, they were having a heart to heart on the couch (after blowing up at each other in the shop, bikes falling off the lifts and stuff) and you could see tears! Just made me want to go on in and give Paul Jr. a big ol' hug! LOL!!! He is such a BABE!!!! Oh, I think I could give Paul Sr. a hug, too! hehe!!!

Well, since the OCC stuff didn't fit DH, we are going back to Clovis to exchange. LOL! That's ok, I didn't have much else to do. I want to wait til after new years to take the decorations down, but I don't want to really look at them anymore. Laughing out loud I need all the good luck we can get this year! LOL!

Afternoon muse

Good afternoon ladies and gent,

What a crazy morning. Woke up to 10 teenager girls (17 and 18 yr old) covering the family room floor. DD17 had her small group Christmas party here last night. They all had a great time. They all left around 11 am. DS12 now has a friend over.

TADA
Breakfast dishes cleaned up
Round robin from the sleepover
2 loads of laundry
all beds made
lunch for DH and kids
packed supper for DH

I’m thinking about reaching out to a young mother with two kids who has been overwhelmed lately about her house and meal planning. She took the Excellent Wife bible study class with me recently and really feels like she’s a failure. I would like to offer her encouragement and help. So, what do you think? What would be the right approach?

Kelly, glad to hear about your wonderful outing.

Susannah, think consumable gifts for the kids. I believe flylady had a good list of anti-clutter kids gift ideas. (Not sure if it’s still on the website)

Vonnie, sounds like your on the right track for the new year. Glad your hair appt went well.

Jenny, hope the shopping was a success today.

Susan

Susannah's picture

What at Walmart is consumable?

Besides goodies, I mean. Smiling I did get them art supplies for Christmas, but maybe I could get a few more. Oh, Play Doh is consumable, at least in our house. Laughing out loud Or so J.D. thinks. I was thinking of DVDs, but found the selection there was limited.

Kelly, you are wonder woman! You deserve to be bragged on! Way to go!

Vonnie, more power to you on the keeping up appearances. I feel like a slob most of the time, even *with* makeup on. Or maybe it's just age catching up with me. You know how they say everything seems to go at once. And it could be those 30 lbs. of baby weight I need to lose! LOL!

Susan, since you said you "woke up," I guess the gals let you sleep last night. Smiling How great that your home is open to your kids' friends!

Jenny, my DH used to ride observed trials as a teen and now at age 38 he's actually thinking of getting back into it again! Ha! Just as a pasttime. He's joined all these online motorcycle forums. He spends more time on forums than I do now...ah, the irony is sweet. He always used to tease me about being married to the computer. I don't mind dirt bikes so much...at least he doesn't watch football or basketball. And if it actually happens, we'd get to travel with him and camp out with other families who are into it. That might be kinda fun.

On to the TA DAs:
*Homeschooled
*Almost all caught up with laundry! Downstairs clothes are put away, upstairs is in the basket to be carried up & put away later.
*Kitchen swept and cleaned up twice
*Chocolate chip cookies baked.
*LR vacuumed
*J.D. put down for a nap, for the first time in a long time. He still really needs it.
*Guest bath swept and mopped

I've also been successful in restricting any tv to late afternoons. I'm pretty happy about that.

I'm tired of nursing today, for some reason. It's just a whim; it'll pass. Really, only 7-10 months to go on that. Smiling Not too big a chunk of my life.

On my PODA:
*Something for supper ????
*Write grocery list; plan a seafood dinner for DH's and my New Year's Eve. I know seafood's not the best thing in the world for you, but we only do it a couple times a year and traditionally on NY's Eve.
*Walmart tonight
*Thank-you notes for Christmas gifts.

Love y'all! I'll try to check in later if DH isn't on the computer all night.

Susannah

Great News!!!!!

Hello All! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!!! I haven't had a chance to catch up on all of the posts, but I had to share some news. I'M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!! Not sure how far along yet (I'm guessing 4 to 6 weeks), but I go to the doc in a week. YIPPEE!!!!!! I'll write more later when I have caught up with everyone.
Morgan

jamielea's picture

Congrats Morgan!

Smiling Lots of pregnant flybabies, how neat!

It's been a while sense I posted, we had a nice Christmas, sounds like everyone else did too.

I had a Dr's appointment on Monday and they were unable to do a sonogram that day so I have to go back on the 15th. Sad So I don't know how far along I am and don't have a due date. My Family Dr. measured me at 12 weeks(2 weeks ago) but the OB said yesterday that I measured about 10 weeks Puzzled I have zero patience when it comes to this kind of stuff but looks like I'll have to wait until the 15th.

As far as flying, I'm still doing enough to keep my head above water. The boys (DS17 and DC16) are still out on Christmas vacation so DS5 and I are taking the same break from homeschooling. I did find a homeschooling support group MUCH closer to me, so looking forward to joining in with that group after the New Year.

DS5 is calling, see you guys later.

Peeking in

As long as all the other pregnant folks are checking in - we had an appointment yesterday and did have an ultrasound. Saw head, hands, feet, spine, heart -- but nothing to indicate sex, so that'll still be a secret until next month, I guess. The pregnancy is progressing normally and the baby looks fine, even though Dana is still sick, sick, sick (morning sickness plus virus - a bad combination).

Other TADA for yesterday:
- Actually cooked a decent dinner from scratch; I've been opening too many cans lately
- Two loads of diapers through the wash
- Washed dishes
- Hauled in lots of firewood
- Grocery shopping
- Feed shopping
- Bank deposit made (tax payments in two weeks, ugh)
- Fixed a few bugs with a program that we shipped a few weeks back
- Wrote some on the next book chapter
- Paid business bills
- Wrote a magazine column

On the "not-so-good" side yesterday: managed to eat myself into another migraine (apparently there IS enough real cheese in Doritos to affect me), and left the lid open to the chest freezer in the garage (no danger of anything thawing, but the cats got a couple of T-bone steaks I'd been saving).

PODA:
- Dinner
- Dishes
- Diapers
- Replace broken electrical outlet
- Write most or all of a book chapter
- Start another chapter
- Evaluate two software partnership proposals
- Organize work for a project I'm managing
- Somehow stay up till midnight and celebrate

Jenny, just wait a few months...I forsee DH herding cows on a new Harley. (And I hope this mad cow nonsense isn't affecting you guys too much!)

Kelly, I may have to swipe that Lifesavers idea. We do pretty well with DS3 in the grocery store with the simple rule that good behavior through the whole store adds up to a treat at the end. Lately DD1 has developed the "banshee wail" habit that all young'uns seem to go through when they discover they can do more than babble; haven't figured a way to keep her quiet yet.

Susan, good for you managing ten teenagers at once. I think we're safe unless we move...I doubt there are ten teenage girls in all of Endicott Smiling And I do recall my folks always encouraging us to have friends over. Kept the whole lot of us where they could keep an eye on us, at the cost of having to stock up on food.

Nothing wrong with seafood, Susannah - at least, if you're careful to not overindulge in the top-of-the-food-chain big fish (mercury issues). One of the few things I miss living in a rural area is access to sushi. Don't miss it enough to make me travel to Seattle, though.

And Morgan, congrats on joining the pregnant persons list! Gonna be a busy year for Flybaby babies in 2004.

jennye's picture

congrats Morgan!

Ya'll are giving me the baby bug now! LOL!!

Jamie Lea, sorry you didn't get a sonogram. Sad Are you going to find out the sex when you can? I always enjoyed the suspense and surprise of not knowing til the baby was born. Smiling

Susan, you and your dd sound so close! I hope I'm like that with my girls when they are teens. The slumber party sounds like fun, I'm sure we will be having all the girls in my kids' classes over for those soon. I don't know about them spending the night elsewhere. Yikes!

We watched Coal Miner's Daughter last night. I told my girls they were never getting married and leaving me, that they will stay here forever. They said ok. LOL!

Mike, DH and I decided that if we ever win the big lottery, that he can go have Orange County Choppers build him a bike. LOL!! They can make a couple of new episodes about it. The Farm Bike or The Cow Bike. The challenge, making a chopper for off road use. LOL! It will have to have good suspension and a rifle scabbard! Well, DH already uses a 6 wheeler to check cows and fence. Laughing out loud Maybe he won't need the chopper.

And as for Mad Cow, it hasn't affected us personally yet. We don't have anything to sell for a few more months, and I'm hoping by then, the world will have forgotten about this case (as it usually does) and things will be back to normal. We did lose another calf Sunday. Not sure if it was because the wind chill was below 0 that morning or because it was an extra big calf or a bit of both. We are keeping an extra eye out for the size of newborn calves now, we may be getting rid of this bull if this continues. There are bull sales in March, might need to get us a registered Angus. This is the second calf we have lost in the past month that was huge. We're talking about 120 pounds or so. Need a bull that produces lower birth weight but large weaning weight.

Today I'm getting my butt in gear! Spending less time on the computer (will have to turn it off til tonight), and more time cleaning! Need to do weekly blessing, as well as some zone stuff in the Living Room/Dining Room. I may even take some decorations down (all but the tree, will that still count?). I did MR this morning before I got on the computer, so that's something done.

See ya tonight!

Susannah's picture

Congratulations!!!!

I'm so happy to hear your good news, Morgan! Smiling

I thought about Jenny with the mad cow news too. I certainly haven't stopped eating beef! Sometimes the media focus an inordinate amount of attention on selected stories and they appear bigger than they really are.

Can't seem to get a good start this morning. The kids opened Grandma's presents. I ended up picking Kim Possible p.j.'s for the girls (DD7 *really* needs pj's), a VeggieTales DVD for DS3, and big-boy pants for DS2 (Thomas and Bob the Builder), who is showing interest in them. And Play-Doh for all. I went online this morning and got two Alison Krauss CD's from Walmart.com for me. Can't wait to get them! That gal has a lovely voice and sure can play the fiddle.

I got in around eleven last night and stayed up late wrapping the presents...so left everything dirty and messy. So here I am, stuck nursing. Can't get my hands free to do much of anything. Looks like we're getting to the homeschooling a bit late today.

I got two bags of frozen pre-cooked shrimp the other day on sale at the local grocery store, and last night I picked up cocktail sauce. Thought I'd make some pasta and eat the rest of the salad with that tonight. Something easy!

On my PODA:
*Clean up this house
*Homeschool

That's all!

Love,

Susannah

Getting Ready for Company

We're in "pre-company" mode around here. Nothing too panicky or anything, just straightening & such. DH took the Christmas tree to recycle post, clothes we're rotating out to charity box, and to his gift shop/frame shop to frame two portraits of DD for my grandparents. He's going to stop & pick us up a burger for lunch (bad mommy, I am!) and then we're going to load all of the Christmas decoration storage boxes to take to my Mom's storage house. Then, we can actually sweep/mop/vacuum when we are able to see the floor again.

Today's TADAs so far:

* Took dog to groomer for flea bath
* Wal-Mart run
* Scrubbed bathroom really well
* New sheets on all beds
* Laundry (still going, actually)
* Cleaned up bathroom closet
* Put rocker back in living room from Christmas relocation
* Straightened up what I could of our bedroom (DH has to do something with his stuff)
* Made phone calls to family members to update them on BIL's condition (skydiving accident in case I didn't tell y'all)
* Made calls to check on operation hours for a couple of things we wanted to do while our friends are here

So, my PODA left:

* Grocery store to get eggs (store I went to last night had no eggs)
* Finish cleaning up
* Finish laundry

We figure they'll be here around 6 p.m., so I think we're OK.

Well, DD won't let me sit here & type, so I guess I'd better go. You all have a great day!

Party Night

Congrats Morgan! What exciting news!

Everyone sounds like they are plugging along, me too.

I woke up to the best present of all this morning. Last night after I had gone to bed, DH and DS13 took down the tree, and then completely cleaned and rearranged the kitchen/dining/living room area! It was so amazing to wake up to a sparkling, new house! DH gave me a GC for furniture, and we are going to pick it out & bring it home on Friday. I can't wait!

TADA
beautifully clean kitchen/LR/dining room thanks to DH and DS13
scrubbed stovetop and soaked burner rings
counters
washed all my colored glass collection from the bow windowsill and put back after cleaning the window.
bathrooms
went through magazines and catalogues
shopped for tonight
soaked wine stains out of tablecloth

PODA
run
finish laundry including sort and put away!
DD's room-it's a disaster!! Sad
make food for tonight: buffalo wings(frozen)with fresh bleu cheese dip, bacon wrapped scallops, artichoke/jalepeno/parmesean hot dip, baked brie, salad, grilled rib-eye steak, brownie sundaes.

DH's brother and his kids are coming over tonight. We are going to hang out and play games, it should be fun.

Happy New Year everyone!

Seasons Greetings

I just wanted to peek in a wish all my Flybaby friends a belated Merry Christmas and all the best in 2004.

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone and happy new year!!

Who still has their tree up? I do! It may come down today or tomorrow, not sure, I'm in no big hurry. It still looks good.

How was your party Jo? The menu sounded great!

I'm starting the South Beach Diet today, so my lifestyle will be changing a bit - I think it will help me to stay more organized, etc.

Well, I'm off to spend 15 minutes in DS7's room - he has a junk drawer that is unbelievable. Besides that a typical day of flying - clean bathroom, work, I already exercised so that's good. One load of laundry.

Have a great day gals!

Andrea

Happy 2004

Gonna be an intersting year...my 45th birthday and 3rd child in the same year...

Tada:
- Dinner
- Dishes
- Diapers
- Finished a book chapter
- Started another chapter
- Evaluated two software partnership proposals
- Organized work for a project I'm managing
- Stayed up till midnight and celebrate

SLUG:
- Replace broken electrical outlet

PODA:
- Replace broken electrical outlet
- Dinner
- Dishes
- Diapers
- Start another chapter in book #1
- Work on chapter in book #2 (2 books at once, aieee!)
- Work on personal Web site

DS3 fell asleep at 11PM last night - first night he's been down before midnight in 2 weeks. Go figure. He got up this morning and asked for his new year's party, so he's having non-alcoholic fizzy and kit kat bars for breakfast. The rest of us made it to midnight, though DD1 and I were asleep soon afterwards. I still miss really expensive champagne, but we were reasonably festive on carbonated grape juice.

Jenny, every once in a while I think about having a cow here. Then I read about calving in below-zero weather and reconsider.

Andrea, tree is down here -- we had to take it down to make room for the inflatable climbing wall, which entertains the kids and terrifies their parents.

Susannah's picture

Happy New Year!!

I stayed up 'til three! Not being very celebratory though; I watched most of *Father Goose,* an old family favorite. My SIL called right after midnight to wish us a happy new year. Our neighbors popped off a few firecrackers. We had fizzy grape juice too. And too much shrimp-and-cocktail sauce. I'd like to copy Jo's menu next year! Sounds very good.

An inflatable climbing wall! I can't picture it, although it does sound scary. Smiling

Thanks for the seasons greetings, Nancy! Right back at ya! Glad you peeked in!

I was supposed to have a visit today, I thought, from an out-of-town friend. But given my sleeplessness I could very well have gotten the date wrong. My sister leaves tomorrow, too. Sad I think I'll stop by there with the kids tonight.

Yesterday's TA DA's included homeschooling. I finally got around to it, although it was abbreviated. I feel pretty good if we do math. Today, we're doing our Jan. 2004 calendars. Smiling And maybe reading aloud a bit. Kept up with laundry, straightened a tiny bit, but left the kitchen rather messy last night. I've got to improve my ER.

Today's PODA is to fold some laundry, do the calendars, write some thank-you's, and visit family. And get right to bed tonight.

Oh, and the tree is still up, and probably will be for a few more days.

Love y'all!

Susannah

Andrea's picture

Update

Well, the tree is down! DH and DD5 tackled it. They've still got some cleaning up to do though!

Bathroom cleaned, DS7 to what could be an all-day playdate (gotta love it!), now I'm trying to do paid work. Laundry still to fold and a Wal-Mart run is in order.

Mike, that inflatable thing looked really cool. Of course my kids use the couch for that! Yes, a big year for you all the way around. My 43 year old DH tells me he's too old for a third baby, but my son doesn't believe him.

Sounds like you did some celebrating Susannah! I think everyone in our neighborhood was asleep at midnight.

OK, I'm off to work now, really.

Andrea

jennye's picture

Timber!!!

I believe our tree is coming down, too. I kept it til new years. If it wasn't a fake one, I'd be burning the damn thing! LOL!!

Hiya Nancy! Nice to see you popping in for a sec!

Mike, I say get a cow or two. Just make sure when you have it bred (AI or with a real bull) that it will calve out in the summer. If we wouldn't lose most of a years worth of money from the calves, we would try to get all our mama's on late spring schedule. This would be nice too for brandings. All the same age, all calved out, just run them thru the chute and get it all over with at once. Someday when we can afford it this is what we will do. For the most part, we have very few blustery cold mornings like that one the other day.

All kids managed to stay up til midnight last night. Chance decided to keep going til one. Grrrr... In laws came over, we watched Terminater 3 (I loved it!), had some tri-tip and baked potatoes and bread machine bread.

Ok, my house, dispite being fairly picked up yesterday morning, looks like a tornado it, again. We have been watching the Rose Parade all morning (no commercials on HGTV!). I'm taking down the tree and everything else, then, I'm not sure what. Oh, gotta write my column real quick! Yikes!

Ya'll have a great day! And Happy New Year!!

witchiepoo's picture

Happy Noodles!

That's what DD thinks everyone is saying. We stayed up until about 10:30, played cards and ate. It was mellow and fun.

We had fizzy cider, but I think grape juice sounds better! Everything was really good, but way too much of it. I forget DBIL's boys are younger and eat less than half of what my boys do. Oh well, leftovers today, I'm on cooking strike. Smiling

TADA

Happy New Year

Sounds like everyone is off to a productive New Year.

Andrea, we took down the tree yesterday and all outside decorations. It was a balmy 55' (last year it was a chilly 30 when the decor came down).

Congratulations, Morgan.

Vonnie, hope your company visit went well. Sounds like you were ready for them.

Mike, this month I will be 46, so I can say that 45 is a great year.

Susannah, Thanks for the reminder about the thank you notes. I can't believe I haven't added to my list of things to do. I'd better get the kids to complete theirs too before they had back to school and homework.

TADA
We did make it to the YMCA today, suprisingly not very crowded.

I taped 5 hours of clean sweep on TLC (my new fav show). I actually figured out how to use the new DVD recorder.

A little shopping, found the two items I was looking for. New pair of Reebok tennis shoes at Kohl's (reg 54.99 on sale for 29.99 and a coupon for 10 dollars off). Second item an offwhite cable knit sweater (I lost one about 5 years ago). Retail $100, bought at clearance at TJ Maxx (favorite store) for $34. Had a credit for the sweater and 1.03 left over.

Better go and find some thank you cards and get started.

Susan

happy new year!

Wow, I didn't know about the expectant flyladies and gentlemen! How awesome! Congrats Jamie, Mike, Morgan, and anyone I am not aware of yet.

Mike, did you get your climbing wall from Back to Basics? Is it huge, gigantic, house-taking-over size, blue with orange knobs and a green falling zone? We got that too, but we will be taking it down soon -- too big! Only for the occasional playdate, until we can put it outside.

I am so far from flying I am underground but it is good to see the rest of you plugging along!

Susannah's picture

Just Us Three...

J.D., baby and me. The other three aren't up yet, and Merry and Pippin are making preparations to go to bed & sleep all day. Smiling

Happy Noodles...how cute. Smiling Susan, you got some awesome deals! I look forward to being able to shop like that again. After this latest nursling weans, probably.

Emma's sleeping through the night now. Smiling I'm so thrilled. She slept from about 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 this morning! Never mind that she's not napping much during the day; I'll take this.

My friend from Va. Beach did visit us yesterday afternoon and it was so good to see her and the boys again. She may come by again this morning.

Well, my sisters left early this morning for California. Waaahhhhh! One of them (my youngest sis) will be flying back to us in 3 weeks (well, back to Savannah, which is a heck of a lot closer than CA). The other is staying on at Santa Monica. They came over last night and ate pizza and said their goodbyes. I'm already planning out a trip in my mind, with stops at the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. Hey, I think there are a few flybabies along that trail too.

Yesterday's ta da's...I can't even remember. We didn't do our calendars (SLUG) I didn't fold laundry (SLUG) and I didn't write thank-yous (SLUG).

Okay, PODA:
*Calendars/Homeschool
*Laundry
*Thank-yous
*Clean at least two bathrooms
*Sort & bag fling and put in van
*If there's time, take fling to Ms. Mary and pick up vitamins at drug store.
*Mail off a couple of late Christmas cards.

I'm sure there's more but I'm blank today.

Love y'all!

One down, 365 to go

Well, I survived the first day of the year, and considering that I ended up single-parenting the whole thing, I think that's a reasonable accompaniment. DW ignored the weather reports and drove out to Pullman (50 miles) for an all-day scrapbooking crop yesterday, and got stuck there thanks to the near-blizzard that blew in. We got about six inches of snow, drifted to 2-3 feet deep in the yard; I have no idea how she's going to get back over our last mile of road. I've already been out to feed the animals in the pre-dawn darkness, since this may be my last chance while both kids are sleeping.

Tada:
- Lunch & Dinner cooked (well, reheated, mostly)
- Dishes done
- Diapers washed
- Started another chapter in book #1
- Worked on chapter in book #2
- Big overhaul of personal Web site

SLUG
- Replace broken electrical outlet (impossible to do with having both kid to look after)

PODA:
- Replace broken electrical outlet (maybe; depends on when & if DW makes it home)
- Dinner
- Dishes
- Diapers
- Work on book #1
- Work on book #2
- Create biweekly patch release for Web app
- Install software for review
- Take the kids out to play in the snow

Shaun, yup, that's the climbing wall we got. Picture here for those who don't know what we're talking about.

Andrea, the real question, I guess, is whether I'll still be having kids at 50. Magic 8 Ball says "you're nuts, man".

Jenny, my major hesitation on a cow is the thought of having to add milking to my daily chores. Well, that and the fact that we'd really have to have the barn replaced before it fell on the poor thing. But you never know...the previous owners ran cattle on this piece, and in fact "17 to 18 head" was one of the points in the real estate listing when we bought it.

OK, Happy Noodles to everyone. I'm gonna try to get some work done before the small fry start waking up.

jennye's picture

milking

Mike, I don't want to do milking, either! Laughing out loud Though sometimes it might not be so bad, after looking at the bill of buying 4-5 gallons per week. LOL! But the way you like good beef, it might be good to raise your own. You could just buy a weanling or yearling and just fatten it up for your own freezer. See if you like that, then see if you want to mess with raising one or two mamas.

I hope Dana gets home safe. It's been months since I scrapped, need to break it out now that Christmas is over. Never been to a crop, must be fun, especially with no kids!

Susannah, hmmm, I believe I am on that route! Laughing out loud Cool!

Well, I got all the Christmas stuff down and put away yesterday. Then I did some zone chores in the LR and DR (sofa diving, vacuumed under the furniture, cleaned windows). I'm sticking to the flylady schedule of what room to do (even though I don't get flymail anymore). That's my excuse for not entering the kids' room. Laughing out loud

Today, a couple more zone chores, and I may just break out some scrapbook stuff. Or quilt stuff. Hmmmm, decisions...

Football, Football, GO AWAY!

Agghhhh! I'm watching Titanic on video I'm so sick of sports. I am "flying" a bit while I watch. Smiling So far I've put away a load of clothes, and made my bed (uh, yea I know it's 8pm) Laughing out loud

Shaun, good to see you back. We don't care if you fly, just stick around and keep posting Smiling

My tree's are still up, all 4 of them. I think I was the first to put mine up, now i'll be the last to take mine down.

We had a nice New years eve, a little disappointing as it was way to foggy to see any fireworks. We usually have a good view of 3 different big shows from our upstairs Master bedroom window. This year the people downtown for the show didn't even get to see them, lots of fog. We did see some kids shooting them in the soccer field behind the house and I bought some sparklers and champagne poppers. DH was sleeping by 10 but 2 teenagers and a 5 year old in his bedroom trying to see fireworks at midnight woke him up!

Well DS5 wants some more pudding, see you guys later.

I agree about the football...

I have avoided DH for a few days now because he is watching so much football.

To all of the pg flybabies, I've got a quick question. Were you really cranky at first and how long did it last? I don't remember being so cranky with ds3, but with this one I am not a happy camper most of the time. My breasts hurt (sorry if tmi), I'm tired and I have woken up the last 5 mornings at 4am to throw up. I get irritated at the stupidest stuff and then it bugs me that I'm irritated. HELP!!!! DH is worried that I will be this way for the next 8 months. I have assured him I won't be and I've tried working on it, but truth be told, I don't know what the heck is wrong with me.
Tadas:
kitchen spotless
made oatemeal cookies with ds
unpacked some of ds's christmas toys and put them away

Slug:
I desperately need to vaccum my stairs.... yuck
been a couple days since I've been outside to pick up after the dog... double yuck

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I'm going to go to bed now.

Pregnancy Crankies

Morgan, you strike me as a perfectly normal 1st trimester pregnant woman! Laughing out loud Yes, I get the crankies at first, too. Anybody who is throwing up is going to be cranky. Smiling By the 2nd trimester I'm sailing and the 3rd is okay except for being so heavy and achey. I don't know about you but I'm at my very worst when I'm not sleeping or eating well. I have to get enough sleep or I'm monster mommy. However, usually "enough" for me is about six hours.

Thank HEAVEN my husband does not watch football!! Whew. Then again, he's taken off to Tennessee for the weekend for a trials meet. Laughing out loud He'll probably come back with a trials bike. The neat thing about this, though, is that some of these people are right from his hometown in NY and they now live about 40 min. away from us! I think it's awesome that he is reconnecting with something that brought him so much pleasure in his youth, and at the same time meeting up with people from that same period of his life. Anyhow, every man needs an outlet. And this is something we can do with him; it's very family-oriented.

Have the fonts on the site gone big for everyone else too?

My PODA is to get a deposit into the bank before it closes. Everything else is peripheral to that. I hope to combine a few errands, fling to Ms. Mary, etc. If I'm ambitious, we might go to Athens to return DH's birthday gifts to me. (I okayed it with him; he shoulda stuck to my wish list! He'd have come out cheaper.)

Lots of SLUGS from yesterday. I won't write them down so as to keep from discouraging myself.

Love y'all!

Getting even more snowed in

Another couple of inches overnight, and it's still coming down. But DW managed to make it home yesterday afternoon, so at least we're all snowed in together. Eventually I'll need to try to get the truck down the driveway, but probably not today.

Tada:
- Dinner cooked.
- Dishes washed.
- Diapers (2 loads) plus a load of kid's clothes washed.
- Worked on book #1 (but not enough)
- Worked on book #2

PODA:
- Replace broken electrical outlet (didn't happen yesterday; DW didn't make it home very early)
- Create biweekly patch release for Web app (should have been yesterday but my partner was late with changes)
- Install software for review (ooops...a definite SLUG)
- Take the kids out to play in the snow (they didn't want to go out and play yesterday. Go figure.)
- SERIOUSLY Work on book #1.
- Work on book #2
- Write an article

Gonna be another busy day. Wotta surprise.

Jenny, there's a fair amount of beef cattle raised in this area, and a local butcher who will pack it - maybe I should just order another side of beef and save the hassle. I suppose it would be cheaper to feed our own out; we've got plenty of pasture. Well, not in THIS weather, anyhow.

Morgan, DW was lots sicker with #2 than with #1, and consequently crankier. And #3 appears to be closer to #2. Her current theory is that girls make you sicker than boys; we'll see if that holds when we find out what sex this one is. Anyhow, as Susannah said, it'll probably pass with the first trimester. Then you can sail through the second and be REALLY crabby in the third when you're big AND it's too hot outside. Sad

Susannah, no font changes here. If you're using Internet Explorer, check under View, Text Size and make sure it's set to Medium.

lazy days

Well, I got nothing done really yesterday. The kids got their thank you notes done. Then we pet the horses and went out to the feed store and the truck stop for some ice cream. It was beautiful and 70 outside, and I'm really in the mood to clean up the horses. They haven't been brushed in years, their manes are just awful. But the feed store had no brushes, and I have no idea where mine might be (lost in the move).

I looked around the place a bit yesterday and decided on these nice days when it isn't too windy, I should clean out the garden spot and get it all ready. By the time it's really ready to plant and til, DH is too busy with the farm. So I'll tackle it early this year while he's home some. Supposed to be 67 today, sounds good for working in.

Large Font too.

Susannah, I’m having the same problems with font size on the site.

Mike, I have AOL any suggestionson how to fix???

TADA
Saturday is chore day (allowances paid), so the kids have completed alot.
all bathrooms
kitchen (including mopping floor)
beds made
all rooms dusted
and they even went to Fantastic Sams for haircuts (DD17 drove)

DH working afternoons this weekend, so dinner will be light for the kids and myself. Probably fish and potatoes. We had fix your own salad and soup for lunch. And fruit smoothies for afternoon snack.

Susan

Susannah's picture

My browser is AOL too...

...and the font is set to "medium" under "Appearance."

My PODAs are so fluid these days. I didn't make the deposit as the bank was closed (SLUG) but I did go to Athens and return some stuff, feed the kids "ick"Donald's, and head straight to Hartwell to help my mom get her cabinets wiped and lined in her new place. We are going back to Mom's tomorrow after church to help finish that up and move a few little things over. So, TA DA on that.

Tonight's PODA: get all these kids in bed right away, iron Sunday clothes, and unpack and sort some of the stuff Mom sent home with me. We're ending up with a lot of her fling (some of it very nice, but we have a small house).

Glad to hear Dana made it home! Yay! We're having nice weather, too, Jenny. Not quite 70, though. Today was looking overcast.

Well, better go check baby and get these kiddos upstairs.

Love,

Susannah

Crazy Days

First off- Morgan, I was the Black Widow Queen when I was perggers, Seriously crabby. My MIL claaed it the "Black Widow Syndrome" but I wans't just cranky at DH I was just plain UGLY

Boy, I don't know what's happening, but we've had some crazy days! O.K., what I really mean is off-schedule and out-of-the-ordinary for us. Shakes up my little rut world in a good way, I guess.

TADA
the whole family drove 128 miles and cashed in 5 years ($650)worth of gift certificates all in one day!
2 loads laundry (DS13 still had no clean dress pants and went to a funeral for Great Aunt Barb (age 80) in jeans! and I didn't notice until too late! Was I mortified!!! Sad
Made yummy steak again tonight. Ugh. Too much beef lately. Can that be true? No mad cow fears for us!
the house is still quite clean, probably because no one has been home in 2 days

PODA
early to bed-I'm really out of whack with my sleep schedule, although I did get up at 7 this morning.
cut DS11's hair

So now I have a new Laz-Z-Boy rocker/recliner in a pretty moss green, 5 bottles of good red wine, 3 shirts, an exercise ball, a set of 7 nesting glass bowls, a sawsall (sawzall?), the latest issue of Cok's Illustrated, and a 28 pound prime rib to show for the trip. We did actually have a really nice family day Puzzled Go figure Smiling

We had GCs to Williams Sonoma, Home Depot, Costco, Dick's Sporting Goods, a local furniture store, and Eddie Bauer to spend. We ended up spending those and $121 dollars, so I figure it's a good deal!

DH's sister and her partner are coming for a long weekend later this month so we decided to have a party-hence the prime rib and wine. I got some shirts and DH a sawsall to help finish the house. The kids also had GCs to spend, so all in all it was a very big ticket day and hurried but fun.

We went to have lunch at the Culinary Institute-YUM! DD3 was soooo cute, a huge change because she has always been a total fiend any time we have taken her out before, but this time she was an angel. I guess she's old enough now, thank goodness!

Tomorrow will be a day of organizing and getting ready to get back to it...although DD3 does have chicken-poxy looking spots on her face. Now wouldn't that be too bad-another 7 days at home. Evil

Have a good night all!!

Happy New Year everyone!!

Sounds like everyone had a great one. Jo- Happy Noodles!! I was cracking up at that.

Congratulations Morgan!! I specifically remember calling my sister about a week before I knew I was pregnant and jokingly asking her if she felt like killing people when she was first was pregnant. I remember a feeling I can only describe as rage. It does get much better, at least for me. I think I have much more patience lately though. Now the crying has set in. I cried my eyes out to When Harry Met Sally the other day. I mean the sobbing, cant talk crying. Hang in there.

Mike, glad DW got home ok. Hope you are all starting to feel better.

Jenny I am jealous of your beautiful weather. It has been so cold and gloomy here. I didnt even leave the house yet today. Lazy and mopey day.

How are you feeling Jamielea? You sound great. I think I am reaching looking pregnant stage. My belly amazes me. I cant wait to feel the baby. I read somewhere between 16 and 20 weeks, I am 17 so maybe soon. I read the baby can hear us now, so my DH and nieces are always putting their faces to my belly like its a microphone or something. cracks me up. Oh and I could eat all day. Pizza, tacobell and Mcdonalds are my favorite. I found Ben and Jerrys makes a yogurt version of Phish food, my favorite. Its pretty good.

Ok on to the flying: warning I am a slug!!

~made bed
~made DH lunch before he went to work
~unloaded dishwasher
~1 load laundry
~started to put away Christmas stuff, I just dont feel like it. Will try 15 minute intervals
~ate breakfast and have been drinking my water
~lazily watching Trading Spaces. Maybe will try to get off my big butt and go for a walk. Maybe. or watch more of Will and Grace season one Dh got me for Christmas. Sounds better Smiling

Have a great Sunday. Love Jackie Smiling

Aliens have taken over my wife....

At least that is what DH says. I think I've officially lost my mind. I'm down right pissy, I gained a good 10lbs at Christmas (Darn M-I-L... why does she cook so well??????) and now I'm all bloated so my jeans are TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT!!!!!! I probably won't be able to wear them more than a couple more weeks, if that. Does anyone have any safe suggestions on how to drop a bit of this pudge before I really start gaining actual baby weight? DH has been on vacation since the 20th... poor guy, probably hasn't been too enjoyable. One other VERY personal question... How quick did everyone go up a bra size? My cups are already getting a bit tight. Probably due to the ten holiday pounds. One cute story and then I promise I will stop talking about being pregnant. (I can't help it... I'm just so excited!!!!!) We finally told DS3 about the baby and he immediately pulled my shirt up to examine my belly. He then proclaimed that it didn't look like I had a baby in my belly. After explaining that the baby was very small he got very excited. He then tried to rush his dad up the stairs to get dressed. When we asked him why Scott had to get dressed he said "So we can go to the doctor." Being the stupid parents we are we asked why we had to go to the doctor. Our son looked at us like we had no brains at all and said "So they can get the baby out!!!!!!!!!!!!" LOL... kids...

Tadas:
Vaccumed upstairs hallway and bedrooms
dishes
put in a new shower head in MBath
cleaned MBath
Took a nap
read my book
took a nap
Eye-wink
SLUG:
I still need to put up about 3 more feet of wall border in DS's room
Still have one big suitcase of toys to unpack and put away (How are our families going to afford another baby???? I'm sure they all went broke with the toys they got DS for Christmas)
Touching on that... Does anyone have a relative that asks if they can get your child something as a gift and ignores what you say and gives it anyway???? My S-I-L asked about a race track for Christmas and I said to keep in mind that we are flying and will have to get it home some how. 4 extra lrg. suitcases and a $50 shipping charge later we figured out how we were going to get all of the BIG toys home. Doesn't anyone ever listen??????

Well... I'm done venting. Thanks for listening guys!!!! Have a great Sunday!

Jo, when I was in school, it

Jo, when I was in school, it was 14 days for chicken-pox. Is it down to 7 now?

Jackie, it's in the 40's and dust storms today, had to drive with lights on so others can see you through the dust bowl. Still want it? My opinion is, if it has to be cold, it should rain or snow so it at least does some good.

My rage came after the baby was born, and it was only towards my MIL. Funny, since she is the closest thing to a best friend and is just the sweetest thing, never in my business. But for some reason right after a baby was born, I couldn't stand to be around her. Strange.

Morgan, I say don't worry about that 10 pounds! You'll have time to lose it after the baby is born. With all my kids, and especially the third one, I just said to hell with it and ate all I wanted when I wanted it and whatever I wanted! I was still fairly active, so I didn't worry about working out. I gained 60 pounds with #3, lost it all in a few months after baby was born. And other than being so big (he was 9lbs 9oz when born), it was a wonderful pregnancy. Even gaining 20 pounds in one month didn't faze me! LOL!!

Yesterday was a flop, got too windy to do much. Today I went to church, but almost didn't with all the wind. The only reason I went ahead and went was I needed groceries. DH met us in town (he was playing truck driver today) and we ate at Pizza Hut, then rented some movies. Kids are watching Barbie of Swan lake now, groceries are put away. MIL wants us to come over for dinner and WANTS the girls to stay the night, but I'm thinking no. School starts Tuesday and I'm trying to get the kids into some sort of schedule again (like to bed before 10! Laughing out loud ).

Have a great day!

Back To Normal -- NOT!!

Well, our out-of-town guests left Saturday morning & I thought I would get my house back to normal -- NOT! First of all, DH's nephew that we never see was to come to his parent's house for lunch on Sat. & we were going over to see him. Well, his mother decided it was too far out of the way & that she could meet us somewhere. So, I had 30 minutes notice to get myself & DD ready for an all-day trip to see nephew (who DD has never met!). DH didn't feel well when we got up, but he said he'd be fine & off we went. About 30 minutes from destination, DH had to pull off the road (interstate) and be sick. He was sick the entire time & didn't even get to spend time with nephew or eat lunch with him. I had to drive us home, making a lot of stops for DD to use the restroom. Finally got home around 7 p.m. last night and put DH to bed. He was up sick all night. He does feel better today, but we're still keeping him away from DD so hopefully she won't get it.

We had a good visit with our friends, but I was definitely ready to get my house back by about noon on Friday. They are rather messy & it gave me the willies every time I went into our bedroom and saw the disaster it was. I spent a lot of time picking up after everyone, as it seems nobody cleaned spills, put toilet paper on the roll, etc. The kids did pretty good, except DD had some issues with sharing. She hasn't gotten that concept quite yet. I also kept doing our laundry while they were here. I didn't want to face a mountain of dirty clothes when they left, so I just kept right on doing it.

Today has been rather lazy. Went to church & to eat with in-laws (trying to keep DD away from DH as much as possible). Then home and catnapped while DD played with her toys.

Today's PODA:

* Laundry
* Unloaded dishwasher & reloaded
* Made menu plan (when I will get to the store, I don't know yet)

Not enough to even post!

Congrats to all of the pregger FlyBabies! But, keep it to yourself, please!!!

Stuff, stuff and more stuff!

I am overwhelmed with stuff. Not only did I receive several bags of clothing from friends at church this morning, but I am also the recipient of all my mother's fling, and today I came home with a full van-load. Not that I object in any way to getting free stuff, but it is overwhelming to sort through. Whew! I have a feeling much of this will have to go to Ms. Mary, as I don't have room enough. Anybody want apple cider vinegar? I swear, I must have 5 gallons of the stuff now.

TA DA:
*Got to church only a few minutes late (with all the kids!)
*Lunch at Mom's (Chinese)
*Helped Mom move some small things to her new place. It's a nice apt., though small, but clean as a whistle. We also finished lining almost all the shelves.
*Got kids to bed.
*About to fall asleep myself...sorting will have to wait for tomorrow evening. We have homeschool in the a.m., therapy appt. in the p.m.

Morgan, you're not supposed to worry about losing weight while pregnant, especially when you are throwing up. Anyway, it's tradition to let the mom-to-be eat for two, and then some. Hey, I craved Taco Bell with this baby, too. Those chalupas are pretty good.

I weighed myself on Mom's scale (I don't own a scale, on principle) and I was two or three pounds lighter. This is with (ahem)-teen chocolate chip cookies this week. So I am encouraged to hope that maybe (?) most of the extra baby weight will eventually come off. Imagine if I actually bothered to exercise, what might happen then! Nah.

Still haven't written those thank-yous. Better get on that.

Love y'all!
