Chewed out!!

Hope's picture

Seriously!!!! I got a good earfull from my SIL yesterday morning about the amount of coffee I drink. It went on for at least 10 minutes. I'm totally OK with it, as she loves me to death and only wants what's best for my health. She's appalled that I actually will drink 2 pots of coffee some mornings. Now she's determined that my coffee consumption, even though I rarely drink the stuff after 3pm, is the cause of my sleep disorders. I'm going to have her copping me forever now. Sheesh....ever wish you'd never opened your mouth??

I'm home for the day, so have no excuse for eating poorly today. I'll have some medicinal cereal in a minute here even though I'm not hungry. It's raining again today, so I think I'll make meatloaf for supper, and cut up some salad stuff before it goes to waste. Maybe some buttered carrots with fresh dill.

I think it's a good day to have a facial, I've not done one of those lately. A steamy shower and a check for any unwanted hair is in order. I should have time to fit a nap in somewhere.

I think I will put a little extra effort into the housework today and call it exercise Eye-wink .

Have a great day all, and see if you can squeeze in an extra serving of vegies somewhere.

A Lenora Wannabee Here

Hope's picture

I see she's having pasta for supper. Since I want to do whatever Lenora is doing(hoping to get some of her energy and "get up and go"), I will change my supper plan to pasta Big grin .

The problem is...

that the level of caffeine in your body Hope is going to be constantly high, so your SIL may well be right about it contributing to your sleep problems.

and that is all I'm gonna say on the matter right now because I could do with having some intravenous caffeine this morning. Always a good reason to avoid it like the plague. I hate mornings when the whole of my effort is spent on just trying to stay awake. I've had several glasses of water (finished a whole 2litre jug of it yesterday), one cup of tea wth breakfast. I've eaten something for breakfast and just something in as part of my lunch (canned franks). I just made sure I took all of my medications which are likely to impact my energy levels, particularly iron, and I took my desperation jar of chicken essence, which is a tonic thing many Asians here swear by. I also had a glass of milk to ensure I had some protein midway through the morning.

I also should note that I didn't sleep late last night. Even after changing DS' sheets I was still in bed by 11pm at the latest. With DH away I'm usually a bit better about getting to bed early, unless I get sucked into a computer game, but I haven't played that since the first night, and I'm not reading the type of book that I'm going to try and finish in one sitting (Marion Zimmer Bradley - Forests of Avalon, originally The Forest House).

So quite why I'm having one of those mornings is beyond me. I gave up on my morning pages to take what I hoped would be a brief refreshing nap, but which took an hour and was anything but a help. I forced myself to finish a single side of writing and then found a bouncy album and danced around the room. What is there that I have not tried this morning, apart from the caffeine?? I know that drinking caffeine or having huge loads of sugar on a day like this would probably be a mistake, so I shall try to aim for water instead.

not sure I'm going to get my charity items dropped today after all, or do any grocery shopping, though I'm seriously scraping the bottom of the barrel at the moment. At least I can get milk and basic veggies from downstairs - hallelujah! I'm gonna miss that convenience when we move back to the UK, because there's not much chance of having a corner shop that close, or even close enough for me to send out DD8 (not for one more week) out to buy things for me.
I think I'm starting to muddle my threads so it's probably time to get up and get moving!

Kerri.

Aahh!! Cooome Onnnn!!

Hope's picture

I get back on here and everyone disappears! Is that fair? Or did you all have a day you don't want to talk about?

I'm not talking about yesterday Eye-wink . I'm just going to be a better woman today.

Cereal for breakfast today. Some organic juice at snacktime and leftover pasta for lunch. Supper will consist of a salad and something else, chicken I think. I have some corn on the cob we should use up as well.

I've had my coffee quota for the day so I'm switching over to juice and water. My SIL has been phoning me and checking up on me. I'm out shopping with her for the day tomorrow, I'll bet she won't let me stop for coffee. I know, you're thinking I *could* just put my foot down and do what I please. Well, yes I could, but giving into her is a whole lot easier Big grin . I'll just have a major jolt of Joe before I go.

Time I had that breakfast. Have a healthy day all Smiling .

Yesterday Was Not Great

witchiepoo's picture

I didn't exercise.

I did well for breakfast and lunch, but disn't have a snack at 3 and was starving by dinner so I overdid and then felt yucky.

Today has been fine so far...I'm heading out to Curves as soon as it stops pouring.

I only have one cup of coffee a day, but it's a really big cup. Smiling

Bye,
-Jo

be careful Kerri

Unusual fatigue means you need to rest! You could be fighting a cold or something. I have a cold myself and know whereof I speak.

I've been having a heckuva time getting on TNH for some reason. I keep losing my connection. But, I should be able to get a new computer by the end of the month (I hope) and will then be back more. I'll post this in Flybabies too.

I did wonder

Kerri's picture

about a possible cold Becky, but it seems to have been frightened away for now.

I'm back on one of my favourite sandwich combos of cream cheese and cucumber. I thought about it the other day and realised I hadn't had it in probably a couple of years, so I bought the cucumber the day before yesterday and the cream cheese yesterday, and here it is - yummy! Smiling

I did an unbelievably expensive grocery shop yesterday (didn't quite hit $300 but it was still record high I think, and no big items to excuse it even, nor even a ton of meat which is usually responsible for the high cost. Of course there was one packet of Pepperidge Farm cookies in there and a bar of nougat... Needless to say that cookie packet is now in the bin. Can't think what happened to the contents though because by the time I got home I swear there were three missing! Laughing out loud

Nope, not a good day yesterday on the whole, so I've decided that the best way to survive today without giving into those Friday thirteenth jitters that seem to turn a bad day into a dreadful one, is a positive attitude. I am not going to let a little superstition get in the way of having a reasonable day. I'm not gonna get a little too much work get in the way of it either! Eye-wink You gotta love Friday (and Monday) morning traffic - there's so much extra time to listen to your favourite CDs on the car stereo!!! Laughing out loud

But at least we have some good groceries in the area. DS is chomping into a cream cheese and ham sandwich with a strawberry lassi (NOT homemade!) and will follow it with his choice of banana, special yoghurt or chocolate pastry. DD will have the same minus the healthy stuff - sandwich will be the sam but she'll have to have water and the pastry. DS reminded me that he already had a banana for breakfast and he's limited to one a day because of the high potassium (it's the only thing I limit and I'm not so very strict yet because neither of us yet needs to restrict our diets because of the kidneys, but it makes sense to be cautious early on or he'd eat the whole hand!). He chose the yoghurt with strawberries and redcurrants (big surprise!).

Dinner will be whatever was in the large tub that didn't have space in the freezer last night... I think it was some kind of slowcooker sludge. I really have to find more appetising names, and nobody's fooled by Slowcooker Surprise either! Probably rice rather than pasta, although we've actully had bread the last two days. Oh DRAT!!! Forgot the loaf of fresh bread... cheesy Mexican loaf.

dontcha just love the trial of gobbling up all the fersh items before they go smelly! Sticking out tongue

So positive thinking and positive eating for me today. Better fill up that jug too since I slacked a bit. But at least I finally got my Ribena so that should help.

Kerri.

Friday the 13th

Becky's picture

I consider Friday the 13th to be lucky, especially in August, because I was born on Thursday, August 12!

AHA!

Kerri's picture

So yesterday was your birthday you sneaky little Leo dragon you... I've been watching out for it and thinking you probably hadn't put it in.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY!!! Another year closer to 30!!! Smiling That was revenge for not saying earlier! Laughing out loud

How have you been spending your special day or are you saving the celebrations for the weekend??

New Me?? Nope. But it's the weekend so I don't care! Smiling

BYE! Laughing out loud

Kerri.

Happy Belated Birthday, Becky!

Honey's picture

Did you do anything fun?

Happy Birthday Becky!

witchiepoo's picture

I hope it was a wonderful day! Smiling
-Jo

Thank you!

Becky's picture

I really thought my birthday was registered, but maybe not. I'll check and put it in before the next one. We were going to go to the aquarium, but my cold was too nasty, so we stayed in and watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer videos we got from England (the DVDs are not all out here yet, but we have a UK-compatible VCR). We'll go to the aquarium later in the month.

I did have a birthday party early, though without DH. When I was in Atlanta for my cousin's wedding, my aunt and uncle gave me a birthday party with my sister and a few other relatives. And homemade peach ice cream.

Hey People!

witchiepoo's picture

Where are we?

It has been a fantastic week for me health-wise, except for a bout with insomnia. Again. I have decided to ignore it this time because getting all stressed out about it doesn't help. So I enjoyed the Olympics until after midnight last night and then read for awhile. I have to get up to take DS to soccer practice at 6:30 am, so eventually I hope to get tired enough to sleep at a decent hour. Sigh.....

Oh well, at least I can't blame it on crappy eating and lack of exercise.

How is everyone else? Miss you guys.....
-Jo

Hi

Honey's picture

I'm usually here Jo, lurking along - I just so rarely do anything at all deserving of my being on this thread! Sad

Yesterday though, I enrolled for two year long classes, to start in September. Monday mornings I will be tapdancing and Thursdays, linedancing Big grin I need some exercise and if it's dancing I am actually likely to keep going. I went line dancing for a couple of years a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but tap is completely new for me. I'm a bit worried about how strenuous it might be and if I'll be able to keep up! The course description says it's for people with 'moderate fitness'. Am I moderately fit? Puzzled:

Another thing I have done in the pursuit of a healthy (er) life is to order the More-with-Less cookbook, about which I have heard great things. Hopefully it will help my waistline and my wallet! Big grin

My current project - trying to lose a bit of weight and get a bit fitter BEFORE the tap dancing starts next month! Smiling

I'm here

Kerri's picture

but I'm comatose so I don't think it counts. Must be time for some B12 shots...

good for you Honey! Increase your exercise gradually though or you'll end up with pain before you even start! I'm great at giving advice, just not at taking it!! Smiling

very sleepy now... just wanted to show... solidarity, that's the word!

Kerri.

More-with-Less Cookbook rocks

Becky's picture

I'm here too. Just can't quite make it to TNH much. The page loads too slowly on DH's work computer and today is the first day I've been able to use the "nice" computers at school (because I activated my university computer account today).

More with Less cookbook

Honey's picture

Becky, I started a thread the other day asking if anyone used the book, and if they had any favourite recipes. If you can manage it with your computer problems, I'd love your input Smiling

I am about halfway through reading it right now and so far it looks quite inspiring! Mostly simple too, which is a good job because so am I Big grin

Ethiopian Sponsorship

Honey's picture

Just a quick off topic heads up for those of you involved in the sponsorship of an Ethiopian child last year (organised by Danna). For those wishing to participate this year, this is a heads up that there is a thread on the homepage about it. Thanks Smiling

Honey

I'm... ummm...

Kerri's picture

sitting by the roadside waiting for the next wagon I reckon! Smiling It's temporary and I've made my peace with it, so hopefully the next B12 shot will have me bouncing off the walls, raring to go and getting everyone inspired.

meantime I'd like to be able to see everyone else go by on their wagons, give me something interesting to keep me going! Smiling

At least today I'm rested enough to be quietly cheerful for now. The last few days I haven't had a huge amount of proper sleep either, so I've really been horrible to be around (you've probably noticed, since it comes across pretty well in my posts!), but now I'm just quietly smiling. No energy to actually 'do', but enough to stay happy.

who turned the lights off?? It suddenly went almost totally dark in here, so I would guess we're about to have a thunderstorm. Maybe DS won't be going to school today. I don't have the car and I'm not making the effort to walk him there in torrential rain!

Kerri.

I've Had a Terrible Time Too

witchiepoo's picture

I keep having to refresh or load multiple times. I lost 3 posts in the last week because it just stops loading. I thought it was my computer.... Hmmm......
