But the toy pick up is yet undone, and the laundry remains in the baskets (several of them!) I am just so so tired after a long day of battling and soothing my DD5. Now DH is up talking to her after she told us she finished her dinner but she had actually tossed it all under the table (DH and I had gone into the kitchen to get the mochi). But that's the least of it, to me. (Of course, I totally blew it earlier and called her a brat. DD has a stuffy nose, so I gave her some children's nighttime medicine so maybe she'll sleep better tonight. She was disappointed that it didn't get warm enough to heat the water in the pool to swim today. We even had a shower this afternoon.

I liked both the book and movie of Ya-Ya although they were very different.
DH has been home icing his back today since it was real sore yesterday. Ds stayed home with him and DD and I went to a friend's house for a playdate and lunch. Got back a bit ago and waiting for me was my bday present from my dad. It is an old oak glass fronted medicine cabinet that used to be at the farm where his wife(my stepmom) grew up. I always admired it and they mentioned that they really didn't have a use for it anymore. My dad had glass shelves and a small light installed in it awhile ago as he used to display various fossils and rocks in there. Now I need to decide where I want to hang it and what to put in it. The kids were thrilled with all the styrofoam peanuts and proceeded to dump the entire contents all over the floor. Got a cute picture taken of the both of them sitting in the box of peanuts before they dumped it all out.
PODA
help kids clean up that mess

I arranged a sitter tonight but DH is home so I will cancel that too.
Jo-let me know how you like Book of Ruth. I am halfway through,keep with it.

Bought all school supplies yesterday. Just need to get a new pair of shoes and jeans and we are ready for school. waiting for teacher assignments to come in the mail,hopefully some of DS friends from last year will be in his class this year.
It's cold and gray here today, and I really think the lame weather is affecting my mood. I am in that "distant mom" mode: Go busy yourself, watch a movie, I don't care, just let me drink my tea in peace. I hate feeling this way!!
Well, DD1 is asleep and I'm letting DD5 watch Angelina Ballerina, so I'm going to try to enjoy it without too much guilt.

Enjoy it Shaun - hopefully you'll get some sun tomorrow! It has been very rainy and grey here too.
Well, we are off to "camp" in a cabin at Jellystone tomorrow = for two nights. Unfortunately DH just found out that his hard drive at work crashed and he has most likely lost 13 years of work! Needless to say his mood is less than chipper. SO! It should be a fun couple of days, huh? I gave him an out, but he will probably not take it.
I worked yesterday and today - met my new boss today! She seems nice, the old guy got canned unfortunately. Hopefully I won't be next!
Flying? Well , ask DH!
I'm off - have a great nite everyone - I will probalby check in tomorrow in the midst of packing for this wonderful camping trip.
... what a good sport you are about the peanuts on the floor!
TADA:
* mailed three more boxes of estate things to my sister
* picked up church mail
* downloaded the next batch of probate papers. It is overwhelming.
* typed church board minutes
* typed church bulletin and powerpoint
* sat through mind-numbing church executive meeting.
* wrote some thank you notes and reminder postcards
* vacuumed, mopped, laundry, dishes, etc.
* rearranged some stuff in the office/storage room so I can move around in there.
Tomorrow's PODA:
* talk to local elementary school nurse to see what needs the school has. Our church is adopting the school in memory of my mother.
* Try looking at probate stuff again. *sigh*
Yesterday I had sort of a bad-mood-day for the first half. I finally snapped out of it and managed to get a few things done.
I apologize in advance for the long OT rant:
I went to the grocery store with my infant and 4 year old. The rain started to pour as we walked from our car to the door. I asked the teen-aged greeter at the entrance where the carts with the infant seats were and he just looked at me with this blank stare and said, "Dude I don't know... probably outside with the other carts." I'd already looked there (that's why I was asking him.) So I walked the length of the front (luckily, this part is covered) looking for them until I reached the other entrance. I asked the other greeter and he said, "I don't know- if we have any, they'll be out there." So, I go back out and finally track one down out in the parking lot. I'm holding the baby with one hand and steering the cart(not well) with the other and trying to keep my son (whose screaming about having to walk in the rain) from getting hit by a car. When I get back in the store with it, I can't put the baby in it because it's got a half inch of water in it. By this time, a customer (very nice lady) sees me struggling and asks if she can help. I'm so mad that I march over to the manager's desk and start barking. "Why can't you all pick a designated spot for these carts? Why can't you make it a priority to have them ready and available for the mother's of young children who shop here? Why can't you let your employees know where you are keeping them? Why can't the guys standing at the doors passing out ads help the customers? Why is it another customer asks to help me but your employees don't?" Her reaction even annoyed me more - sort of non-plussed, like, "oh well". Turns out that they had several dry ones right inside the store... I wish someone would've let me know that instead of directing me out into the rain.
I was REALLY annoyed with the incident. Mainly because I shop there every week and those carts are never in a specified place. It's usually difficult for me to track one down. But, in hindsight... if wasn't that big of a deal. And I let it ruin my morning- almost my day. Why is it that I let a single bad incident bother me for hours????
Yesterday's TADA:
-changed sheets on beds upstairs
-made our bed, cleaned room

I am in bad attitude mode today. We had really severe thunderstorms last night in waves from midnight until after 5 am. They were so loud and had such incredible lightening, I did not sleep. Then I went into school and got stressed out with stupid paperword and more stupid administrative poop that has no positive impact on the kids. I have no patience for that cr%#, even when I did get a good night's sleep.. and Tomorrow DH is having a minor, out-patient surgical procedure, but no incision is minor with his infection risk, so that is making me nervous too.....Blech.
Andrea, have a great vacation.
Lois, I salute you for all you do for others, you have such a generous spirit!
Heidi, I am about one third through the book and it's getting better.
Shaun, that is the best description of that feeling-"distant mommy" so true.
Gotta go, here comes another thunderstorm! Arrgghhh!!!!!!
-Jo
That's what I got yesterday. I felt horrible all day and started running fever last evening. After a good night's sleep and some meds, though, I feel soooo much better.
Today's PODA:

getting excited about my dad and stepmom coming to visit in about a month. They will stay here for a long weekend. I want to have several projects done before they arrive so I will be concentrating on that.
A friend of mine went blueberry picking yesterday and brought home bags and bags of them for less than $5!! I think that next year we will go along too,it sounds like fun. I remember growing up in Florida,going tomato picking with my grandmother.
Kids are watching cartoons so I will start the laundry and get washed and dressed.
What rotten weather we have been havin for the last 3 weeks. On the radio at noon I heard that of the last 21 days we have had only 20% potential sunshine. No wonder everyone is in such a lousy mood.

I was in Atlanta over the weekend for my cousin's wedding, and caught a bad cold on the plane back. Also DH's computer doesn't like TNH for some reason, but I hope I can get a new laptop by the end of the month so I can surf around again. PODA: desk chores (lots of them), tell DH how to fix icing for my birthday cake (I might do it myself if I feel like it).
The day after my cousin's wedding, my sister and some other relatives gave me a birthday party with homemade peach ice cream. Yum.
I am still sort of "iffy" from my illness last evening. I still feel a little nauseated this afternoon. So, I am just doing 15 minute increments of work, sometimes less than 15 minutes. I usually try to get my house cleaned up for the weekend on Thursdays, but it may wait until tomorrow evening this week. That's OK because since I am being more diligent about flying, it's really not that bad. I just hope I am feeling well enough to go to the grocery store tomorrow evening.
Today's TADAs:
* Made it to the office and actually made some headway in paperwork!
* Took a 2 hour nap; much needed today!
* Laundry - still in the process, too
SLUGs:
* Learning time with DD
* Sweeping
DH's headlamps went out and he had to go get a part; it was $80-something. And of course I had just sent out a bunch of bills with some extra tacked on them, which was making us a little tight until next payday. Oh, well. We won't be in trouble unless we go spend-crazy in the next week. DH didn't get his truck finished, so he took my vehicle. I can't go to Tupperware party tonight anyway since I still feel so bad, so it doesn't matter.
Well, I'm gonna run. We'll have leftovers for dinner; at least DD will, I will probably have soup.
Vonnie-sorry to hear you still do not feel well. Can your mom watch DD so you can baby yourself a bit? Get well soon...
Jo-wow that is alot of crummy weather. I would turn on all the lights in the house nice and bright and play really upbeat music all day,might help. Hang in there.
Becky-glad the wedding went well. Happy Birthday To You! When is it excactly? Mine is next week as well.

We are going to high school grad party tomorrow afternoon for DH cousin's son. So many people were busy all summer that they decided to hold it now at the end of summer,makes sense. This is the cousin with the farm and all those llamas. The kids always have a blast out there.
Well, we're back and unpacking AGAIN! We are staying home now for a good long while! Jellystone was fun, but the weather was too cool. And I know we had mice in our cabin. Kids didn't care about either of those things though!
Heidi, I think we'll be blueberry picking on Sunday - there is a great placee near here. It's a fun outing.
Not any better. Bonnie is on her way and the prediction is up to 5 inches of rain overnight. Luckily, we are up on a hill, but the In-Laws are in a flood plain, as is DH's business. We are prepared for power outages and an invasion of lower-down neighbors, but I hate not knowing, just waiting. Sunday we're supposed to get Charlie too.....Oh Joy.

DS7 is having a terrible time with his allergies so we're looking at all of our options - air conditioning, seeing an allergist, changing his meds. We removed the carpet from his room. The problem is we are not absolutely sure what he's allergic to, so it is difficult. I'm thinking it might be something in our house?! Our carpet cleaner is the kind that shoots hot water into the carpet and then picks it up and I'm wondering if that is the best thing to do because it could cause mold - which can be an allergen. I'm open to any tips or ideas!
Gotta run if I'm going to get through this PODA!
Andrea
We didn't get all the rain predicted, only about an inch to maybe an inch and a half. They also say that Charlie will stay south of us, so we may get another day of sunshine! Yippee! Everything is very, very soggy due to the 5 inches or so the past 7 days, but it does make for good, easy weeding. I hope everyone else is safe and dry.

Andrea, I would take him to have an allergy test. It's uncomfortable but at least then you will know what the allergens are and will have a much better chance of controlling them.

Heidi, how is the Wilson going? That's what DS is doing with the tutor, right?
Becky, Happy Birthday last Thursday!
Everyone else, think sunshiny thoughts and I hope all your Sundays are relaxing and fun!

Not much of a flying day here today as we have been out all day. We went to Amish country and bought lots of cheese! And then we went out to DH cousin's farm for that graduation party. We had a really good day,they brought the llamas out and DD rode one. She also chased all the chickens and ducks,we even met the cow that will be in our freezer next year! (sorry guys)
Jo- yes DS is getting Wilson tutoring and is doing quite well. Two more sessions and then school starts. He will continue to get it at school.
Finally! Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes! I am feeling so much better now. What an icky illness to have.
DH, DD and I went on a picnic yesterday and had a great time. It was so fun, in fact, that we encouraged MIL to do FIL's b'day there today, so that's what we're doing. DH and I will go early to get set up, etc. Should be lots of fun.
Not much to report. I'm just flying around here. I've managed to keep things in pretty decent shape even when I was sick. Right now I have a load of laundry in the dryer and one in the washer. Today's PODA:
* Finish laundry
* Get everything loaded and go to picnic locale
* Have fun at picnic/party
* Pick out clothes for tomorrow (iron clothes for the week if I have time after getting home this afternoon)
Well, I'm gonna run. I want to get in the shower before anyone else gets up. Talk to you gals later!
Sounds like you had a fun outing Heidi! I want to go to Amish Country near us someday - can't remember the name - in PA.
Anyway, DH and I have been BUSY decluttering the basement. Can you say a 250 fling boogie?!!! I am estimating but I think I'm pretty accurate. Our basement looks so much better. Still some more to do in the family room and kids' rooms. Of course we have to haul all this stuff to the church for the rummage sale. DH also cleaned the FR carpet ad I did some gardening. Oven fried chicken, corn, and pesto for dinner, yum.

Good Afternoon! DH has bee
Good Afternoon!
PODA

Bought all school supplies yesterday. Just need to get a new pair of shoes and jeans and we are ready for school. waiting for teacher assignments to come in the mail,hopefully some of DS friends from last year will be in his class this year.
Better go scoop out the LR floor!

Send on the sunshine!

Shaun
Hi all!

Heidi...
... what a good sport you are about the peanuts on the floor!
TADA:
* mailed three more boxes of estate things to my sister
* picked up church mail
* downloaded the next batch of probate papers. It is overwhelming.
* typed church board minutes
*sigh*
late morning post...

Kay --
Write a letter to the corporate headquarters of the store. You'll get a response. And customer service will probably improve.
I Don't Think It's Too Much To Ask
Kay, I'll bet Moms are a big chunk of their customer base, and what you are requesting is a common sense idea with no cost to the store. I agree with Lois, write a letter. And I'll tell ya why it bothered you so much-you're right!

Arrgghhh!!!!!!

getting excited about my dad and stepmom coming to visit in about a month.
Kids are watching cartoons so I will start the laundry and get washed and dressed.
catch you all later.

Hi all
I was in Atlanta over the weekend for my cousin's wedding, and caught a bad cold on the plane back.
Yum.
Not A Particulary Productive Day
I am still sort of "iffy" from my illness last evening.
* Laundry - still in the process, too
SLUGs:
* Learning time with DD
* Sweeping
Y'all have a good one.
Vonnie
Good Morning! Vonnie-sorry
Good Morning!

Well, better light a fire beneath myself.
Heidi
Well, we're back and unpackin
Well, we're back and unpacking AGAIN! We are staying home now for a good long while! Jellystone was fun, but the weather was too cool. And I know we had mice in our cabin. Kids didn't care about either of those things though!
Heidi, I think we'll be blueberry picking on Sunday - there is a great placee near here. It's a fun outing.
Hope you're better Vonnie!
Is your mood any better Jo?
I'm off to finish.
Andrea
Nope
Not any better. Bonnie is on her way and the prediction is up to 5 inches of rain overnight. Luckily, we are up on a hill, but the In-Laws are in a flood plain, as is DH's business. We are prepared for power outages and an invasion of lower-down neighbors, but I hate not knowing, just waiting. Sunday we're supposed to get Charlie too.....Oh Joy.

Well, we are unpacked and that laundry is done. I'm up doing paid work and then exercising with a new Pilates DVD - i t's only 30 minutes.
PODA:

decluttering
carpet and furniture cleaning
Wal-Mart run
DS7 is having a terrible time with his allergies so we're looking at all of our options - air conditioning, seeing an allergist, changing his meds. We removed the carpet from his room. The problem is we are not absolutely sure what he's allergic to, so it is difficult. I'm thinking it might be something in our house?! Our carpet cleaner is the kind that shoots hot water into the carpet and then picks it up and I'm wondering if that is the best thing to do because it could cause mold - which can be an allergen. I'm open to any tips or ideas!
Gotta run if I'm going to get through this PODA!
Andrea
Above Water
We didn't get all the rain predicted, only about an inch to maybe an inch and a half. They also say that Charlie will stay south of us, so we may get another day of sunshine! Yippee! Everything is very, very soggy due to the 5 inches or so the past 7 days, but it does make for good, easy weeding.
I hope everyone else is safe and dry.

Andrea, I would take him to have an allergy test. It's uncomfortable but at least then you will know what the allergens are and will have a much better chance of controlling them.
Vonnie, I hope you're feeling up to par really soon.
Heidi, how is the Wilson going? That's what DS is doing with the tutor, right?
Becky, Happy Birthday last Thursday!
Everyone else, think sunshiny thoughts and I hope all your Sundays are relaxing and fun!

good Evening! Not much of
good Evening!
Hello All....
I am very tired,long day.
See ya in the morning.
Heidi
Back Among The Living
* Finish laundry
* Get everything loaded and go to picnic locale
* Have fun at picnic/party
* Pick out clothes for tomorrow (iron clothes for the week if I have time after getting home this afternoon)
Well, I'm gonna run. I want to get in the shower before anyone else gets up. Talk to you gals later!
Vonnie
HI all! Glad you're better
HI all!
Glad you're better Vonnie!
Catch ya in the am!
Andrea
