shelf liner

Jamie B's picture

I am new here, but am looking for advice on organizing and lining the shelves of my new kitchen.
I don't like the rubber liners, as you can not push an item from the front to the back without it wrinkling up, also don't want the adhesive liners. What else is there?

Hi, Jamie! There are non-adhesive PVC products out there that are marketed as shelf liners; a little googling reveals something called "Smooth Top Easy Liner" that might work well for you, and I'm sure there's other stuff like that out there.

I've seen shelves lined with vinyl-faced wallpaper, and that worked out well. Oilcloth could be really pretty; if it's too light to stay put, you could temporarily secure it with some double-sided tape. Or you could even cut cheap plastic placemats to fit.

Jamie, I just lined my new kitchen with Cushy Cupboards, it is new and only sold in CA, but they ship. It was easy to install and will allow you to slide your dishes in place w/o bunching up (unlike the rubber liners). That is important for shorter gals Eye-wink I ordered from www.denaults.com

Cushy Cupboards

If anyone is interested the CA True Value store has this great liner on sale this month. They will ship when you call them (949.888.5200)

I read about them on www.gardenweb.com in the kitchen forum last summer.

I buy the adhesive liner, but I do not remove the backing. Once you put dishes, etc. on it, it will normally lie down flat and stay put. If needed you can remove just small corner bits of backing, or a slender strip down each end to hold it in place.

Shelf Liner

I bought the shelf liner cushy cupboards and it's saved my wife and I a ton of headaches. This stuff is super easy to install and my new wood cabinets are not getting scratched or worn. I noticed you can find this stuff on eBay and by going to www.cupboardliner.com. I choose to order it via the later and it was here faster than I could imagine. Just thought I would add the male perspective.

SHELF LINER

Peel and stick vinyl floor tiles cut to shape work great. They are heavy weight, easilly cut and come in great patterns for cheap.

Cushy Cupboards

I was curious and "googled" Cushy Cupboards. It seems to be very popular. I don't use a shelf liner, but noticed my new cupboards are showing marks under the pots and pans. Does anyone else have a favorite?

Oh gosh, don't use PVC or vinyl near your dishes. If you research the health concerns of these plastics, you wouldn't want them near anything you eat.
