Merry Solstichristmunnukahzaa!

I think that covers everyone! (Read more.)
Last night we had our Yule/Solstice celebration. First we turned out all the lights including the tree. I lit a candle and told the story of why this night was special; it's the longest night of the year, and the beginning of winter. The days will grow longer and the light will return from now until Midsummer.
I told a Solstice story about the rebirth of the Sun King and then suddenly, there was a knock at the door! It was Father Winter! But he was already on his way and had just left us a gift. The girls opened it and it was a 4 DVD set of Looney Tunes, and John said that he wasn't so sure that was a gift for the girls--maybe it was a gift for mommy...
Then we turned on the lights and the tree and exchanged presents. I got my annual Mary Engelbreit calendar from the girls, and John gave me Fray, a graphic novel/comic collection by the one, the only, Joss Whedon about a Slayer hundreds of years from now. He also gave me Neil Gaiman's latest Sandman collection, Endless Nights. (Detect a theme? Yes, I still love comics and I'm 42 years old. No, I don't collect action figures.) AND he gave me a book I've been wanting since it came out, Sandor Ellix Katz's Wild Fermentation. Whee! lucky me!
I have to go watch a puppet show now but will be back with more Yule goodies.

I *loved* Endless Nights. It's a brutally beautiful book.
I just finished it
And as usual Neil Gaiman made me cry at least three times. The artwork is fabulous, just unbelievably good.
Elizabeth, go add a review here.
