Story of the Root Children

This is the first book I ever bought for my son almost 14 years ago.I was taken with the illustrations and the beautiful story of Mother Nature awakening her children- the flowers and the insects after a long winter's sleep. Since then, I've used the book in my pre-school curriculum when we talk about Spring. It's also a wonderful book to read on the Spring Equinox.I have some lesson plans and activity ideas posted here to go along with the book.

The only thing that bothers me a little bit is Mother Nature being portrayed by the artist who illustrates as an old woman.I just think she should look more Maidenly for the coming of Spring Otherwise,the illustrations are beautiful and cheerful.
