The one-day, cup-o-beans challenge!

OK folks, here it is, we've hit the big time!
Tomorrow, that is Tuesday, I invite you to join me in moving all the beans, rocks, noodles, bands, what-have-you from one cup (or wrist) to the other in one day.
How can it be done? Awareness.
Enjoy an uplifting sniff of your morning coffee -- add a bean.
Take 2 minutes to sit up straight, stretch your arms over your head, and twist side to side at the computer -- add a bean.
Snuggle with a child -- add a bean.
The key is to notice that you are doing these things *as you are doing them*! Take the everyday things we do, hear, see, smell, taste, and touch, and transform them into little acts of self-care by remembering to enjoy them and be grateful for them.
Silently thank the dairy farmer who produced the milk for your breakfast cereal -- add a bean.
Savor a ripe strawberry -- add a bean.
Let the phone ring and the answering machine take over -- add two beans!
It's not going to be easy! Let's try to keep track of some of the littlest but still effective things we do for ourselves so we can pass the ideas on to the others -- I need them!

I'm in again
I had 25 beans last time and got them all in a few days, but this should definitely be a challenge.
ouch
and I thought I was doing so well - I finally got round to trimming those toenails, AND I exfoliated my legs before I get to using the hair removal mousse.
if hugging the kids is worth a bean I might manage, but it's the noticing again that gives me trouble! And I'll start tomorrow (Wednesday).
ARGH!!!
Kerri.
Two "beans" so far
Actually, I came up with something prettier...blue glass circles, the kind you put in vases, and two fancy glass stem-cups to put them in.
I got one for having a homemade mug of hot chocolate last night right after midnight. Is that cheating? It was officially Tuesday. Another for my shower this morning.
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. --Jesus, the Christ
Beans, beans....
One for having my first cup of coffee on the deck in the early morning sun...
One for spritzing on perfume first thing this morning BEFORE I've showered...
One for the extra-special goodbye kiss I gave DH
...
One for the facial mask now drying...
That's 4, all before 9:30!
Lenora
More...
Dry-brushed my skin,
Toner and moisturizer on my face after shower, (is that two?)
Deep conditioned my hair,
Spent an hour formatting a resume for my neighbor/friend,
(Drank a cup of vanilla decaf with her, just chatting!)
Decided on Chinese take-out for dinner, since DH is off to Chicago,
Picked a vase of daisies out of the front flower bed to bring inside. (My "wild" daisy, a foundling-transplant from a weed-bed in the back, is HUGE!)
.....to be continued!
Me too...
I've got 7 and it's only 10am. Most of them were for appreciating things... hugging DS (even though I was on the toilet at the time and would rather have h privacy than hugs!), getting down my beautiful Maltese paperweight from way up on the air-con duct, cleaning it and spending a lot of morning page time appreciating it. My whole morning pages were about texture and beauty in fact!
Lit my candles too, and ate homemade banana chocolate bread for breakfast with my tea instead of dry breakfast biscuits!
Might even get to deforesting those legs yet, and I think the perfume idea is a great one Lenora!
Kerri.
had 3 beans
By 8:00am than my computer crashed. So I spent the rest of the day trying to get back online, not to mention my files!
Its only 7:30pm so maybe Ill get some more tonight.
Amee
Pass the Beano!!!
I overdosed today. I did nothing but please myself from morning till now
. I can't even check in on the other threads as I have nothing to say for myself.
got 18 so far
It's 10:45 and I have 7 more to go. Rush rush! I'm going to have to multi-task on some of the nice things (like shave my legs while a scented candle is burning and a TV show I like is on).
Ran out
of interest and energy.. I've got another for perfume but that's about it. I don't think this afternoon's collapse into bed was really very self-nurturing in any way and my legs are still icky. I'm about to kick the kids out of the living room though and watch ALL of Everwood - I didn't take DS to school because it was raining!
Kerri.
if you were so exhausted...
...that you collapsed, and you allowed yourself to do so, that is the very meaning and essence of self-care. So is staying home from school due to rain, and so is watching Everwood, so you get three more beans, if you were still doing the challenge.
Not even 10
I counted everything I could think of, but I guess I don't do a lot of self-care, or else I do a lot of goofing off that doesn't count as self-care (I take Kerri's definition).
Hmmm....
here's a bean
If you allow yourself to consider goofing off self-care, I'll give you a bean. Which is how I made it to 25, just barely-- came in right under the wire. I don't think I could do it every day though.
Not the whole bag o' beans
but I made it up to about 13 with a little pampering around shower time. Finally did my legs, did plenty of moisturising of various body parts, etc, etc...
Today I don't have time for any self-pampering, except maybe eating lunch and dinner, neither of which I bothered with yesterday (which should probably lose me about 5 beans each!
One could really only try for a whole cup a day once a week (or maybe once a month if one was to be more realistic!).
So what's next?!?
Kerri.
A whole bag!
I think my day yesterday counts as a whole bag-o-beans! I enjoyed a lovely, solitary drive, ate a wonderful lunch in a very nice restaurant, and got to spend a couple of hours "dishing" with TNH-friend Julie! It was a great day!
Lenora
I'm game.
This challenge and posts are from last week, but scanning the forums for inspiration I found and liked this one. I'm going to try it myself for now. Maybe someday alter it for the kids?

Hi Karin
I'll join you, because I never did get around to joining in. I've found lots of nice round small pebbles while I've been gardening this week, so they'll do. When are you starting?
and welcome back, by the way!
Today.
Honey, I thought about it all day yesterday and didn't do it. I've just openned a new bag of coffee, and will use those starting today. My planner says it's going to be a rough day, so I really need some reminders to remember and take care of me...

Finally moved some beans
this weekend. Last Thursday I stopped by the grocery store after taking DH to airport. Well, there was a radio station there giving away stickers and such. They told us to put a sticker on our car and find them at different locations this summer and we could get prizes. After shopping DS13 and I went outside and I told him to put a sticker on the car. We drove around the parking lot and pulled up again. The guy recognized us and laughed. He gave us a gift certificate for 2 free haircuts. I gave one to my sister and went to get my hair cut!! Then I decided to dye it back to my original dyed color. I have naturally dirty blond/lt brown hair. Recently I had let it grow out and dyed it pretty close to my natural color. After my haircut I dyed it Burgandy. I've dyed it burgandy since I was 14.
DH had never seen me with my natural hair. My hair was down to my shoulders and I cut it to a chin leangth bob!! You should have seen my husbands face at the airport!! I love it! My confidence is back and he said that he loves it and he can see how good I feel!
To top it off, this weekend I DIDNT CLEAN!! OK so Im paying for it today but I dont care!!
Amee
Two beans today.
It's slow moving. I enjoyed my coffee, bean for thinking about the moment of peace. Then I enjoyed smelling the good shampoo I used on my hair. I liked buying it, but usually rushing so much I forget that I bought it to pamper myself. I'm finding the beans don't encourage me to do things for myself so much, but more to enjoy those moments that I have.
It's going to be a good exercise to find those moments the rest of the day. I'm feeling a little pressured between what I need to do and what I'd like to do. Maybe I can learn to grab those moments/beans of peace today when I can?

The 'beans' are in the cup
Actually I'm using marbles now, as I found some lying around. I put 36 (one for every year of my age!) in a paper cup and I have another paper cup for moving them into. Didn't move any today though! I didn't do anything for me today. I'll try harder to enjoy myself tomorrow!
How's it going, Amee and Karin?
Three.......
......is all I managed today. I gave myself one for shaving my legs, one for putting on make up today and one for buying myself a bottle of perfume
I've been out of perfume for a few weeks, all I had was a cheap bottle of body spray so while I was in Woolworths today I thought why not? and treated myself to a bottle of 'Sunflowers', which is a scent I always rather like for the summer.
DS12 has gone upstairs to play Gamecube, and the tv is turned off so I might sit and read for a while. Another marble in the cup
A couple more today
I bought myself a nice glass today. Actually it's an acrylic beaker, but really pretty with lovely yellow flowers on. I treated myself to it, and will use it for drinking my water (are you listening, Hope?
) this summer. That's one marble
I also had a nice long read today, another marble
I'm a bit slow at this, aren't I? I can't see me making it to 36 in another five days! I'd better do lots of things for myself over the weekend
Amee? Karin? How are you doing?
