When we moved here almost 3 years ago, DD(then11) decided to join the band. She played piano but not a band instrument. She decided to learn clarinet, which she did quickly. Last year in the spring, she was asked to switch to Bass Clarinet, which she also did. In Feb. she performed a solo competition piece on the bass clarinet and received the highest rating possible!
Our little 'burb just finished putting in a skateboard park where the 8th grade son of a friend of ours promptly broke his arm 
He plays the tenor saxaphone in both the 8th grade band AND in the Jazz band.
My DD13.75 is now learning the tenor sax, so she can play his parts in the spring band and jazz band concerts ( SIX of them, starting next Monday!)
Is she great or what?
